1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So, what's the best way to sort through and cull one's downloads? on: 2007 April 12, 16:51:31
Heh. My plants folder is totally the biggest in my downloads.

Well, except for that scary folder called "Hairs, need sorting."

Ooooh... me too, except mine is the "WTF random numbers crap?' folder.
2  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I want bigger breasts.... For my sims. Perv. on: 2007 April 06, 11:12:25
If only Gossard made anything past a D cup...  Sad Mind you, the thought of anything bigger than a D cup in a balconette bra should be pretty disturbing to everyone. It would be possible to have tea there with the right seating.

I also agree with Witch - why would anyone want 'em big? Small and perky is the way to go. *thinks wistfully of tiny boobies and halter tops...*

Hey, witch... Grin

Or, how about just using the made-up animals and turning them to the opposite sex. I've done this and it works fine.

Well, RainbowTigress, I sincerely hope that full oral hygiene was maintained and not just a quick rinse... These things can play havoc with your gums. I recommend chewing on the thigh bone.  Tongue
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Numenor's Scriptorium on: 2006 December 26, 13:50:15
Works well and is very simple - simpler even than all the cutting and pasting. Makes taking stuff out easier too. Everyone's a winner... Smiley

Avast kicks ass. I had Norton, but it is a bloated piece of crap and costs way too much. All the people I've recommended Avast to are more than happy and, if you have Spybot as well then I'd say you're pretty much sorted.
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why do so many people's male sims look like women? on: 2006 November 29, 16:37:53
Though very, very slidey and quite difficult to get a grip if you're both covered I would think?  Grin
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why do so many people's male sims look like women? on: 2006 November 28, 12:13:19
I don't know quite why, siggy, but my head is full of the most appalling imagery. Has velcro sprung into anyone else's? Or is it just me because my mind is in the gutter?
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why do so many people's male sims look like women? on: 2006 November 27, 12:29:22
Must have been separated, siggy. I can find no other explanation.  Grin

I can understand how men may find sapphic play appealing, but it doesn't necessarily follow that women find gay males fornicating titillating.

And yet the whole phenomena of slash fiction exists? I've known a few slash writers in my time - some of them good - and they are definitely fixated by male on male porn. Have to say it does very little for me but then porn is just meh... whatever floats your boat says I.

because the females are more shiney, have stronger character, and rule the world. The males are ninnies, ruled by their bottom side of the body, and are used only for one purpose - to donate their Y chromosomes to continue the Human breeding...

Amen to that, sister. Grin

Besides, from what I can tell, women whine just as much. The chat is constantly filled with people snivelling about how this and that is stuck. FLOSS IT, people. Just take some thick twine and string it into your nose and out your mouth. Now floss vigorously.

We do, we do. I live with a female hyochondriac who never gets anything less than Avian 'flu if she has so much as a sniffle, but will still smoke 20 fags throughout. Mind you, the ciggies seem to really clear the old tubes so less vigorous flossing (thinner twine though nicely slicked up) is required. A decent size bucket is recommended too.

Still like my men to be "real men" and not too pretty. And big - tall, wide-shouldered - with a great sense of humour.
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why do so many people's male sims look like women? on: 2006 November 26, 17:09:50
Yes indeed. One of the most annoying health issues I have had to contend with as a woman is "man 'flu" or the common cold. It goes hand in hand with a genetic inability to remember where his car keys/socks/pants (add as applicable), or to actually tell the difference between a tea towel or a towel.  Tongue
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why do so many people's male sims look like women? on: 2006 November 22, 12:44:10
The scientific interest the Y chromosome for evolutionary purposes is relatively new as it was once thought to be merely a defunct repository for DNA that was no longer of any use, and there is already research ongoing that looks into the concept that males are 'damaged' females. Certainly, in the majority of species being female is a distinct advantage as life spans are longer plus the advantage of chromosomal symmetry affords other genetic benefits. There are a number of very interesting articles about, this being one of them.

So how does this explain why I'm attracted to teeth, spinities, and angry-eyebrows?

You're not actually human? My personal believe is that you're Klingon, as well as a pirate.

I know this is probably too wierd, even for this place, but I have always been more attracted by personality than appearance Kiss
And it doesn't even have to be a nice personality Shocked

Disturbing, isn't it, that rational and intelligent people can find this attractive? I am constantly amazed by my ability to hone in on the emotionally stunted/needy/controlling or plain psycho... Not that I count myself among the blessed in the IQ department (before J.M. gets in there - or others - to point out my sad and uncool lack of grey matter). Roll Eyes

As for male sims being pretty? It is useful as they are the ones who breed the best looking stock even though I don't mind a few freaks in my population as it throws in the odd spanner or two. On the whole I try to make mine homely looking anyway, as most of the general human population can hardly be said to be gorgeous. Most of us fall into the distinctly average range.
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why do so many people's male sims look like women? on: 2006 November 20, 10:20:14
Aragorn pretty?  I don't find him pretty at all and I'd take him home for more than just tea, perhaps a scone with jam & cream - what did you think I was going to say?

Sean Bean (Boromir) another fine looking man and not in your pretty category.

Sean Bean? Sharpe? Oh yes! We just have to compare notes sometime as we have remarkably similar taste...  Grin

On another note, isn't it interesting how this thread has evolved into the weight issue again? It seems that despite all our protestations it is something that looms in the public psyche when really it should mean feck all. I believe that the rule of thumb is the waist/hip ratio for blokes and what they find attractive as this denotes a breeder and that we ladies have the upper hand because we're likely to go for a male that is able to look after us - and our dependent offspring for the many years it takes for them (spawn - not men  Tongue) to come to maturity. In this respect, being a bit on the flabby side for a woman would be an evolutionary advantage (healthier and more secure pregnancies) as she can stock food on her hips. We are animals, pure and simple and, although what we are is covered over by a very thin veneer, instinct will out very occasionally.

It also answers the age old question: where are all the hotties in history?

Answer: Didn't exist. Everyone was ugly and didn't know better. Mona Lisa was probably the smokin'est babe Da Vinci could find to paint.

Not so... It's just that the perception of "beauty" has changed along with society. Those hotties were there it's simply that different criteria were needed to make it to those exalted ranks and you only have to check out paintings from various different artists - spread across the centuries - to verify this. Most notable is Rembrandt whose personal choice was for ladies that tended to be on the wholesome side.  Cheesy Anyhoo, beauty is very much an individual perspective and it differs from culture to culture hugely, as well as being somewhat muteable within our own jaded societal experience.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Missing Aspiration Points...WTF! on: 2006 November 14, 18:59:44
Career rewards are not bought with aspiration points, so I have no idea what manner of Dumb Laeshanin Thing you're trying to pull.

Thanks, J.M., for the ready words of encouragement. But I had kinda managed to work this one out on my ownsome... What I should have done, if I'd had the time, was talk about two seperate issues i.e. missing aspiration points and the fact that I am unable to access any of the career rewards despite having 2J's really rather splendiferous mod (career/asp collection).

travellersside: not the skill points I wanted for them, that's for certain, but I never let a little thing like that deter me. Tongue

I had the inventory, career rewards, and asp rewards panels disappear on my once too. I restarted the game and they came back.

It's really odd, because I did that today when I got home and the aspiration points were there.  Huh I tried that yesterday and the game just laughed hollowly at me. The career rewards are still unavailable, but I'm hoping that something miraculous will occur.

*edited to add that the lot debugger was dutifully deployed.
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Missing Aspiration Points...WTF! on: 2006 November 13, 13:09:44
I have been and searched as thoroughly as possible without any luck to see if there are any reports of this happening to anyone else. It seems that I've drawn the short straw and am now unique...  Roll Eyes

Anyhoo, very quickly, I was playing my new neighbourhood and as they have a sprog, and need the body-building (I have 2J's career rewards mod) of the circuit trainer, I thought I'll go and get them sorted in readiness for those needs. Imagine my surprise when my sims show zero aspiration points - despite all my hard efforts - and that I am not able to access the career rewards. I tried saving and then coming back in, and quiting without saving.  Huh Very, very perplexed by the whole thing, particularly when everything was going ok and there is nowt there that shouldn't be.

Won't be able to play again until tomorrow as at work for the 24 hour stint, so answers on a postcard please, and in single syllables.  Wink
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: pet bowl whine on: 2006 November 11, 23:49:01
I've always found that the bowl self-rotates on demand.

Even when it's placed against a wall?  It certainly doesn't do that in my game.

I concur with J.M. This happens when the sims clean it and fill it.
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there any benefit to being a doofus? on: 2006 November 11, 23:46:36
I have four cats, all girls, and each of them very, very different. Two are as smart as paint (the black and white would rule the world if she had opposable thumbs), and the two tabbies are dim and really fuckin' stooopid, respectively. Stoopid girl was freaked at the pattern in my new rug because she thought it was a spider and spiders are her nemesis. Very funny to see in fact, if a bit worrisome.  Roll Eyes
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: no instant love more like no love EVER! on: 2006 November 09, 15:46:09
Have it on DVD, girl! Loooong time fan of the x-men since I was knee high to a grasshopper and always had the hots for Logan... Yum, yum, yum, yum.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: no instant love more like no love EVER! on: 2006 November 09, 14:47:47
In reality isn't a lot of love unrequited?  I'm hopelessly in love with Harrison Ford but the bastard never even looks at me Sad

Me either. And it's the same with Hugh Jackman...fuckwit.  Tongue
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Romancemod query on: 2006 November 09, 14:04:20
What exactly are you confused about?  if your confused about the sofa woohoo then you should go read more about ACR  Wink

Just confused, generally. One of those senior moments when life starts to have a lovely haze.  Grin
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Romancemod query on: 2006 November 07, 18:56:52
Yes, you're right, it is. *slaps head with large kipper* Still confused, though, bugger it.
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Romancemod query on: 2006 November 07, 10:38:02
I am still confused by this mod...

Me too. I've had some very bizarre stuff happen including sims with absolutely no chemistry and a strong hetero preference fall in love! It was interesting, to say the least, but caused more than one or two bitch fights. Since that neighbourhood went splodie and Pets came along things seem to be going rather differently with my marrieds at it like rabbits. Come to that the non-marrieds are at it like rabbits... Grin I actually had a pair (my Pescado and Gali sim who are totally in love and currently pregnant) woohoo on the sofa? When did nookie-ing on the sofa become part of the game?
