Well, Two Jeffs created the Adult/Elder Age Duration Hack.  Would it be possible to use it for the other age durations as well?

Like everyone else: 2 semesters = 1 day.

I also follow someone's suggestion (sorry, can't remember whose) to send teens to Uni when they have 4 days remaining before their adult transition.  It's what AllenABQ's doing, but within the Maxis-defined age phases.  I like all that extra time in the teen stage for skillinating and making friends.
228  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Rant - The ways in which the sims community is completely insane. on: 2006 July 15, 00:45:51
Yeah, way too many creators in the Sims community have taken their "artistic rights" to the extreme.  And the main problem is that it's infectious.  Every time a creator has insanely possessive guidelines, it continues to set the precedent that this is normal behavior.

Maybe I'm siding with "the man", but I'd find it amusing if EA started shutting pay sites down... some of them are ridiculous with their subscription fees.  Then again, if they can get idiots customers to pay, maybe it's not so ridiculous after all.  Except MATY, of course!  That $39.95/month is worth every penny!   Wink
229  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Suggest Street Names Please. on: 2006 July 08, 11:39:07
"Ellington" makes me think of Duke Ellington and jazz.  If it were my neighborhood, I'd name streets after jazz legends like Count Basie, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald, Jelly Roll Morton, Benny Goodman, Cab Calloway, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Thelonius Monk, John Coltrane, Wynton Marsalis, etc.

Dammit, now you've inspired me - I may have to use this in one of my own future neighborhoods.  Smiley
230  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: How to add new College, Downtown, Shopping District templates on: 2006 June 30, 21:57:31
If you're looking for clean templates of the Maxis default 'hoods, downtown, unis and shopping district, I suggest you check out SaraMK's thread in the Peasantry: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=4306.0

You can take your pick from templates that have had all characters removed, or templates that only contain playable characters.  They definitely came in handy when I followed her tutorial on merging the Maxis 'hoods!

I don't ususally search for toddler outfits, but I've found a few things I liked.

There's an adorable butterfly dress at Besen's, with a non-Maxis mesh.  http://www.besens-sims2.de/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=73

Spiffy Sims has some decent outfits for toddlers (there's a good deal of not-so-great outfits as well).  http://www.spiffysims.com/index.php.  I downloaded the underwear and "swimsuits", then used SimPE to recategorize them as everyday.  Smiley
232  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Intense Fire Hack on: 2006 June 06, 12:20:17
One thing I'd like to see with the fire alarms is to make them ceiling-mountable.  I can't recall the last time I was in a RL house where they had the thing on the wall.

Targa made one, it's on MTS2: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=95682

I use it all the time - works perfectly, and much more true to life.  Smiley
233  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Jitters on: 2006 May 23, 22:23:12
In my game, it seems every time a sim drinks espresso, jitters ensue.  It doesn't seem to matter whether I direct them to drink it or whether they do it autonomously.  I couldn't say if it's the same with coffee, because I never buy the coffee machine.  IMO it's a waste of simoleans - takes too much time to drink coffee, and there's not enough increase in energy to make it worthwhile.
234  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Correcting the DNA of Strangetown premade characters on: 2006 May 11, 23:17:43
Okay - did more poking around and I think it just looks different in this version of SimPE.  Instead of things labeled the way baratron described: 1 (dtString): 00000004-0000-0000-0000-000000000000, it's simply labeled as Hair, with 00000004-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 over to the right.

After checking several Veronaville and Strangetown premade characters against OFB premade characters, the "SkintoneRange" lines are always filled in.  The missing DNA lines are labeled as "Skintone", so my conclusion is that the Skintone lines indicate the skintone passed on.

Could someone with SimPE 0.58 please check to see if I got this right?
235  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Correcting the DNA of Strangetown premade characters on: 2006 May 11, 00:02:34
Hi, longtime lurker and posting virgin here, please be kind... though I should know better than to ask that on MATY.   Smiley  Instead, please feel free to mock, ridicule, or otherwise make fun of my non-awesomeness.

I like to try things myself, so I gave baratron's tutorial a go in SimPE (v. 0.58) I found that when I opened up the Sim DNA screen that it displays two boxes: one marked dominant gene and one marked recessive gene.  Each box contains 5 lines (eye, facial features, hair, skintone, skintonerange).  I didn't see places to click on "add" or "delete" to fix the DNA.

Any suggestions?
