1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What does "Japanese Bin.bundle.package" do? on: 2008 December 04, 14:23:31
What I was wondering was if Asia-localized games might change which facial templates the randomly generated sims use, but not affect CAS. The advantage would be that the townies and NPCs would look localized, but it would still be easy for the player to create international celebrities. It would be interesting if they did that.

I expected they would all be different, because while people in the U.S. often cannot tell if someone is Chinese or Japanese or Korean, that is much less likely within those cultures. There was a quiz online that asked the user to guess what nationality different Asian faces are. Westerners taking this quiz did not score very high. Japanese people who took the quiz could almost always identify other Japanese correctly, and the same was true of the others. That probably makes it worthwhile to localize them. It does not really surprise me if they didn't do a very good job. Default sims faces are pretty strange looking anyway. Do Maxis playable sims look any different?

Just curious, did you only look in CAS! or did you also try generating an npc or townie on a lot?

I am one of those neurotic people who tries to keep a nice cleaned up registry. To make that easier, I use Revo Uninstaller to rid myself of all those weird leftover examples of hexgibberish whenever I uninstall anything, but there are other programs which do the same thing. I have noticed when uninstalling programs with Revo that it often finds keys I would never have located myself. If you missed any keys you could probably find them by using one of those programs, but Revo forces the user to uninstall with the program's own uninstaller before it performs deeper searches for leftover material in the registry. For that reason, you can't use Revo to find them without actually doing an uninstall. Unfortunately, I do not know if any similar programs can show you those without performing an actual uninstall. It might be worth looking for one. You may be able to find some keys you missed exporting.

Your templates are really nice. I have tried just about all the sets out there. These look really good with a variety of skins and some of them don't work that well if the skins aren't Maxis-like enough.

Because you are one of the few people who has non-histrionic maturely misanthropic reasons for using such things, I checked  for you. Swimmable pools of blood would indeed match that set nicely:

Not sure if the hacks there would affect Numenor's Maxis Lost & Found neighborhood waterfall and river, but might be worth checking if your thirst for carnage ever becomes insatiable. Wink

According to legend, the countess bathed in the blood of female virgins to preserve her youth and perfect skin. Luckily, "virgin" sometimes just meant "unmarried woman," I hear. As a man, you may require male virgins. Might want to try college-hosted comic conventions. Those guys tend to have really bad skin, though. On the other hand, if you ever send your wife to a really sorry excuse for a con, they will probably all follow her home like imprinted ducklings. Or try to, anyway.

Yes, I do wonder what they killed to get the gigantic bones for the diving board. A T-Rex? The same creator has a matching skull sink, a bookcase and bed set with the same unshaded skulls, but no skull toilet, thank goodness.

That hypothetical situation is one I didn't have to invent. I just combined some of the themes I have run into on LiveJournal, MTS2, and other sites without even looking for it. All I can say is, some of those kids are gonna wish they locked their journals someday. Really weird and tacky custom content amuses me. I love threads like this.

Hypothetical situation. You have created all your favorite anime and fantasy characters as romance sims, made them into vampires and werewolves, equipped them with ankle length hair in neon colors, and sultry pouts and some other er...accessories *cough*. You have moved them into a big purple haunted mansion (why not?) with Lord Voldemort, Lucius Malfoy, and Severus Snape, who are all shirtless bodybuilders these days. But wait...Problem. Nooothing interesting is happening. If only you could get them all to go skinny dipping together. That would be hawt. But how? They just aren't fun-loving kinda sims. Swimming isn't gothy or emo enough to get them away from the mirrors and off the divans. Don't worry, girls, HalfPint has an answer.

Do Death Eaters really have luaus by the pool? It honestly never occurred to me to wonder before.

Hmm, would this suit your needs?

I haven't tried the command myself so I am not sure if you can leave it that way or if it's just for pictures. I hope it does what you want.
