It's fun to make children act like adults and let them live on their own.

I thought of Peter Pan and The Lost Boys right off the bat.

Then I thought about how this power could be abused by creeps, and I don't think the charm of Peter Pan and crew can quite override that revelation.

WHAT HAS BEEN SEEN CAN NOT BE UNSEEN. *brain bleach brain bleach*
52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: apartment build guidelines on: 2008 December 22, 04:30:12
As far as I know, that's normal game behaviour. I see no reason why gardening shouldn't work on apartment lots - luckily, EAxis, evidently, didn't either. They're notorious for simply disabling something in a given situation simply because they feel like it might be a bit more work to get it to co-operate. It's good to know that your garden is working properly.

There's no such syndrome amongst sim nation...

Unless you mess around with simPE
I didn't even know about simPE back then; it just happened on its own. The child came back from school as a toddler. Go figure. After her mom randomly aged up the next day at 6 and then died of old age the day after, I just trashed the whole neighborhood and started from scratch!

This simPE thing interests me, though; does that mean you can safely create sims who look like one age category and act like another?

I've done it before, with no splodie at all. Of course, I'd play around with it for a bit in an unloved neighbourhood first. It's fun to make children act like adults and let them live on their own.

You could try surrounding each driveway section with the Pets carpet edging. Treat them as walls, and make doorways to them from the apartments. As long as you imagine the carpet edging as being walls, you could turn any area into an owned area. Invisible fences would also work, if you could get one that was traversable. If not, I guess that would make the car "more personal" - You'd have to have a door out there anyways, so it wouldn't be too much of an issue.

Oh wow, I can't believe I missed that. It's been too long since I last did chemistry. I feel like going out to get some dry ice now.

Starring scary Russians!

I know the cat is fuzzy, but it's not... um, that fuzzy. Seriously, that is pretty creepy.
57  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Holy crap, Guise on: 2008 December 21, 14:41:31
But, why would you bother selling the aquariums? I made a business selling 20 000 dollar flamingos, and all it took was getting in there to dazzle quickly enough. I'll bet you could do that with batman boxes, too - they're sellable. It is fun.
Because I am stupid and forget about the higher price ranges. I don't normally do cheaty things (which I consider this to be) as in most of my 'hoods, I tax sims high (standard 10%/season, one 'hood is 20%/season) and allow selling only at Average or below.

I'll need another half million soon enough, so next time...it's on Ridiculously Expensive. The family's "real" business only earns about $400/day as they have a reasonably-priced bookstore. They are now raking in interest on the original million, now up to 1.2mil with another couple hundred thousand liquid. In three sim days, they lose the original million to purchase the university. The rest of the money goes to nest-egg their five children, two of whom I'm tempted to axe because they were not pre-approved. Dumb Family sims.

Usually, I find that No20KHandouts is a good thing to have, but sometimes you end up wanting babbys before you have the money to build a sproggery. So, sometimes I set up a bandatron at 10K per hour and have someone Practice Sales until they get a Gold badge and get a single person in, then close down the business. It's funny, because it actually took 4 dazzles to get someone into the house.

Prima: SO DO YOU WANT TO BUY THIS
Secunda: WOW THIS IS AMAZING THANKS
Prima: IT'S PRETTY AMAZING ISN'T IT
Secunda: WHY YES IT IS IT'S UTTERLY SPECTACULAR
Prima: YOU SHOULD BUY IT
Secunda: I SHOULD SHOULDN'T I, IT'S JUST WHAT I'VE ALWAYS WANTED
Prima: SO BUY IT
Secunda: OKAY, FINE, I SUPPOSE

Of course, this can all be avoided if the Reporter comes.

Description != LOL

I must be slow. I can't find anything funny about that name. I'm sure I'm just being dim.
60  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Custom Face Templates reinstall ? on: 2008 December 21, 14:07:37
I have the same problem. I am fairly new at using boolprop and have so far only used it connected to "snapobjectstogrid" and "allow45degreeofrotation". What would one type after entering "boolprop" to fix the face template displays?

If you see someone talking about "boolprop", it's usually in reference to turning on debug mode. To do this, simply enter the code "boolprop testingcheatsenabled true". This will unlock a bunch of debugging tools, such as what was mentioned above (refreshing thumbnails). There are a few articles out there, such as those at SnootySims, which can explain what it does. Note that turning it on does NOT break your game as some people rumour - it just tells you when errors occur and asks you what you'd like to do about them. When the code is not on, it does not bring up an error reporting box and instead simply Resets the offending object. Play around with it for a bit in a neighbourhood that you don't care about. It's got some neat features.
61  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Faizah Flats on: 2008 December 20, 19:26:09
Well, aren't these quaint? They are very nice, if a bit gaudy. The driveway system is... interesting. Although, I guess most people have to drive over one sidewalk to get to the street, anyway.

When I saw a recent gameplay trailer I was stunned at the extent of how much of The Sims 3 has been recycled from The Sims 2. Not surprised, as I figured it would probably happen, but not quite as much as what I saw.

Interesting to see the EA spokesperson is called Colin Macrae. Unless EA are now "reanimating" dead corpses to save on expenses or something .

You rang?
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Could I move my neighberhoods people over to a new neighberhood? on: 2008 December 18, 02:22:57
Actually, I believe that s/h/its sentence was missing commas, not apostrophes. Also, they didn't spell "Neighbourhood" correctly, putting aside the optional U. Still, you show promise as a grammar ninja.
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Holy crap, Guise on: 2008 December 18, 02:10:47
Bah, you've almost convinced me to add noplayableshoppers back into my game. Unfortunately, I like making businesses for the playables to get to know each other.
noplayableshoppers has a hook for customerselector, so you can still do both. No playables just becomes the default setting in the absence of the customer selector. It also prevents duelling, so that the EAxis spawner will shut down if you have the customerselector in. Otherwise, the two will fight, although the Customer Selector is programmed to win. Tongue

Oh, well then. That sounds like fun. (By duelling, I assume you mean hack conflicts and not MOAR FIGHT. I like my fight.)

An interesting thing that I noticed was that the reporter was immune to the customer selector on my Teen hangout. Certainly the most logical thing to do, but it was kinda funny/creepy to see some middle-aged guy hanging around with the 12s. He was certainly easy to pinpoint and use Notovny's strategy on.

Enjoying your massage, there, townie? No moveobjects used.

As far as I know, mismatched ages Appearance:Actions isn't a particularly bad thing, and is corrected on age-up anyways. Of course, I'd wait for Pescadoian approval, first.

However, cloning Sims is simply a matter of turning MoveObjects on and then shift-dropping them. With this, you can do it to things which were intended to be picked up, but not duplicated, such as crafted items, career rewards (though that has slightly less point to it), etc. I just now made a business selling empty bowls. Cheesy It's actually quite profitable. Then again, I have a highly trained staff of Bedazzlers selling these things for thousands of simoleons, but they're also very nice bowls.
68  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Holy crap, Guise on: 2008 December 16, 00:42:09
Ok, ok, ok. So I go into buy mode and pick up a Grim-Phone to place it inside the house. I currently have doors selected, and accidentally press Ctrl. The phone disappears for a bit, but reappears when I let go of Ctrl. Seems normal, am I right? So I place it down and notice that it's still in the original location. The Grim-Phone has just been cloned. I start spazzing out and place about 7. They're all functional. I'm still thinking of fun things to do with this.

If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go make a Novel Shoppe business. This is going to be awesome.

ETA: Bollocks, cloning a novel just ends up with a book entitled "Book Title" set binding-down. That's rather unfortunate. Perhaps it might work if you wanted to sell a lot of books called "Book Title". If only there was a way to rename them post-publishing.
69  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Illuminating 2 story rooms. on: 2008 December 14, 18:04:41
You could try using wall lamps. If that doesn't work, I've found that windows can also achieve the desired result during the day.
70  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there way to terminate pregnancies without modding tools? on: 2008 December 14, 18:02:01
I was under the impression that by "modding tools" she also meant PC-Based mods in general; if not, ACR also has a Morning-After pill option, if you have it in your downloads. The InSimenator also had one, if I recall correctly.
71  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sim won't stop skipping on: 2008 December 14, 17:59:48
There are many hacked items which can change a sim's locomotion methods. There is, in fact, something which I believe I saw under the name of the Locomotion Adjuster (or something along those lines) at MTS2. If this is just for Machinima, it would probably be better than simply fixing the problem, anyway.

BEHEAD'D
What a graceful landing.

You may not believe me, but look within the bush. There is clearly a lack of head in there.

Also, I'm wondering if this counts. The fat part, not so much (as long as one ignores the faces), but the skinny ones... I think that counts as an anatomy bork. Also, I'm fairly sure the fat mesh for the skinny clothes looks somewhat like a supermodel who's eight months pregnant. FUBAR.

I also remember something about using stretchSkeleton on dogs. Lemme try to dig that one up.
73  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sim won't stop skipping on: 2008 December 14, 02:58:38
Wait, are you talking about a jump bug, or simply the locomotion type? Is it honestly that big of a deal? I was under the impression that it was faster than walking.
74  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Macro Control: Macrotastics on: 2008 December 13, 23:29:50
Ah, that telescope thing makes sense. I guess it would cause a lot of queue stomping to get smacked every two seconds. May I request that this be overridden if the telescope is indoors, though? I usually lock the door to the telescope room during the day so that this doesn't occur. It's rather funny to see someone break into your house and run up two flights of stairs, only to sit there stomping at the door. (It could also detect for APO, if telescope buggers are in the "annoying" category.)

As for dynamically calculating the food list, does this mean that it takes into account custom foodstuffs? Ice Cream from MTS2 can be made with no cooking skill, instantly, and isn't too shabby on the hunger-filling rate, especially for something with no cook time and skill required. But, I suppose that would involve scanning each food for routines about cooking, and such.

Can't has that pack - would you mind posting the description? It sounds noteworthy.

Noble End Table
This powerfully built table was made small so it could snugly fit between your seat and that of your mortal enemy.  Share some interesting conversations over this table and keep your enemies close.

Entertaining, if not lulz. Are you sure that's the end table, though? It sounds like a dining table.
