TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Anyone using a Macbook pro here?

What soozelwoozel said; I've got a MacBook Pro and it works great for my daily life (internet, homework, messing around) and I've actually never had any overheating problems. However, Macs in general don't seem to be the best for gaming, at least not as laptops, so it all depends on what your "daily life" is.
I will say that leaving Dell for Apple was one of the best decisions I ever made. I cannot caution you enough against getting a Dell, at least not the non-gaming ones (I have no experience with the gaming laptops). If you're considering other brands, my sister seems to like her Toshiba Satellite; I know she can play TS3 on it and it seems to run okay.
Edited to say I have no idea what the issues about CC hairs are, because my MacBook Pro handles them just fine.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Simbots are awesome

Got around to having a sim actually make a simbot and wow, I didn't know I could be underwhelmed AFTER hearing all I heard. They really are just regular sims with an added "smash" option to objects (except salvaged ones, for some stupid reason) who can't bathe. They get labelled as your child and you can't even order them around. Sleeping in a sim bed and pissing in a sim toilet just adds to their mundaneness (mundanity?). I don't care how "realistic" a shitty robot is, because goddamn, it's a computer game. I want realism when sims die of disease or get canned for sleeping on the job, not for when you make robots. The same goes for ghosts - too much humanization of the supernatural or scifi in TS3.
Ghosts should always take the shortest route possible by floating through doors and walls; they shouldn't need to eat, sleep, piss or shower; if they MUST recharge, then they should disappear into their (placeable) grave or urn. I could go either way on ageing, what with the whole GHOST BABBY thing - although I definitely would have loved to scrap GHOST BABBIES. TS3 ghosts overall remind me of those Twilight failpires.
Robots should recharge in a station (or the sun, that was a nice added touch - eco sims could get an added boost for that); waste disposal should at least be toxic green puke; their creators/owners should be able to order them around, maybe with additional ROBOT REVOLUTION possibilities (ie, lower your relationship with your simbot enough and they set your house on fire before running away). Eating scrap was a nice touch, but seriously, why can't you smash salvaged items? I'd understand not getting the same amount of scrap as you would from smashing a brand new item, but if you can explode salvaged items into scrap, you can smash them. I wonder if that's a code bug.
I have no tl;dr thoughts on mummies because I've never bothered with them, but I liked that fire killed them instantly. For the record, washing their hands does not kill a simbot - I've tried.

I don't know if this is AM related at all, but my game is randomly hanging and freezing, forcing me to close the game via the computer's Task Manager. Is anyone else having this issue? I can compile a list of my CC, it's not very much right now (beyond a bunch of arrr'd and decrapified store content) because my game won't load if I have very much in it.
That's happened to me three times out of the four I've played since Ambitions; I've got Base, WA, Amb and I only have the AwesomeMod from the 11th, I believe. The game also crashes to desktop if I go into Edit Town mode and try to add lots to the town (Twinbrook). Other than that, though, smooth sailing.

Lazy or obsessed with Twilight. The supernatural/scifi creatures in TS3 acting just like regular Sims with a superficial make-over reminds me of those failpires whose only difference is...sparkling in the sunlight.
Wait, no - failpires don't need to eat, sleep or shit gears down the toilet. TS3 simbots are more fail.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Gay parents and adoption

When I create a gay couple in CAS and try to give them kids, it only recognizes one person as the parent. I've tried setting both adults to be parents individually, but after the first sim is declared the parent, the other sim can only be "housemate", even if the adult sims are married to each other; when they're out of CAS, this second sim is labelled as a step-parent.
I clean out my caches, I've only got AwesomeMod installed, I have the base game and WA, but not HELS. Tried searching both this site and google, but no one else has even mentioned this. EA bug or something else wrong with my game, maybe?

I've had a sim get knocked up by a foreigner of each vacation spot; the only trouble that happened was when I stupidly did this midway through the vacation. As soon as the game recognized she was pregnant, everything slowed and not even falconpunching her helped, so I reverted to an earlier save.

If you give your sims the "Grumpy" trait, they become rather depressed. It's a rather peculiar implementation of grumpiness, really. I'd be a grumpy person, except that I'm not at all like the description: I am more about RAEG than sadness. Grumpy seems to mean "Emo" in the world of the Sims.
Like how "Neurotic" is really more of "Paranoid". Love the trait, but it wasn't what I was expecting with "Neurotic".

I had that problem. It ended up being because I was still trying to use the launcher. Make a new shortcut, this one pointing directly to the C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Games\Bin\TS3.exe If you need to add new Store content in the future, you can just open the launcher, install the content, and then use the new shortcut to start the game.
*Edit for incorrect file path.
I never even installed the launcher, actually, but I tried deleting/redoing the shortcut and going through all it again - nope. Still asks for a CD.

Since the bugs thread has been closed, I'm posting this here. If I've missed the new bugs post, degrade me thoroughly.
I'm only using the awesomemod + enablescripterror packages; the one I'm using is from 15 June. I've tried multiple times to use the latest one (21 June, afternoon version) and kept all the standard configs, except that I enabled debugcommands (<i>not</i>, however, debuginteractions). Every time I try to use it, however, it loads up fine, asks me which game file I want to play - but then it reports that there's no CD in the drive. The no-CD is, naturally, enabled.
I've cleared caches, I've returned debugcommands to disabled, I even tried disabling no-CD and then re-enabling it. It continues to report that there's no CD until I finally reinstalled the awesomemod from 15 June.
Anyone else got this problem? Am I doing something painfully, obviously stupid? Or is it just an unknown oddity?
