It's "addlotsize 40 x 30". With spaces between the x and the numbers. 40x30 isn't a valid size in this manner, thus the error.

Is now out. Or, has been for several hours now anyway. http://www.thesims3.com/community/news.html?selMonth=2&selYear=2010#1933964469 * Base Game: Fixes an issue where Sims continuously perform the "Be Invited Inside" interaction on other Sims' lots. * Base Game: Fixes an issue that causes Sims to get stuck in the "Grab a Slice" interaction on pizza. * World Adventures: Fixes an issue that causes the game to freeze when attempting to save a household on a base camp. * High End Loft Stuff: Fixes an issue where the family inventory loses functionality after using the Create a Style tool on an object. * High End Loft Stuff: Fixes an issue that prevents the fulfillment of the "Buy a Video Game System" wish when buying the "GUGA JoyToy 3" and "Console 7" video game systems. * High End Loft Stuff: Fixes and issue that prevents the "Presenting the Perfect Private Aquarium" Life Time Wish from counting fish in fish aquariums. * Shop Mode Update: Fixes problems caused by the font and updates the In Game Store to the latest EA Webkit version. Someone go bork hunting. Apparently there's also a CAW update to coincide with this.

Interesting that they go on about 3rd party custom content and what to do with it. Either they're finally accepting that game is nearly unplayable without it, or they're trying to bork it for good.
Patch seems mostly pointless. I'll wait for the AM update this time.

At least you're TRYING to make a mainland neighborhood. I take a peek at the exchange's neighborhoods sometimes (just for a laugh, never to download) and 98% of the crap there are islands. Nothing against Coconut Island though, it's actually a nicely built hood.
You have two options to make land that appears to go off into the distance. Use the largest map size available, surround it by hills, and make your town in the middle. Have one road go off behind a hill and be non-routable for the camera for realism. Or, just use the distant terrain over and over. They're a little bitchy to place, though.

Just grin and bare it. It's inevitable that you'll have to patch eventually, for EP reasons or some other, and Pescado is only going to continue making patches for the latest versions, no matter what new bullshit EA concocts for each update. (Like in this one, you seemingly can't use bike racks/parking spaces anymore because of some "vehicle can't intersect" crap). You might as well just go gung-ho and update as soon as there's a new patch, or wait until AM is fixed to work with it, and for better or worse, it's what the majority of us are going to do no matter how much we try to put it off. The good news is at least that we're all in the same pile of crap together, which makes it all the faster to find solutions to problems and dig ourselves out.

Has anyone gotten an overstuffed house to work yet with the new patch? My main neighborhood loads fine, but my more story-based one with an overstuffed house as the active family causes the load bar to stop about 1/5 the way through. Since they're still active, I can't get in the hood at all at the moment to see if this is the problem.
I know EA mentioned some stuff about having over 8 sims living in one lot and crap, so whatever change they made probably borked the current version of AM (although the test version does otherwise work).
Just looking for a confirmation from anyone who has an overstuffed household.

Yes, roads are a bit of a bitch until you figure them out. First of all, you have to use the crosswalk section if you want them to split at all, and you can't just slap it in the middle of an already made road. Most of your road manipulating is going to be done by pressing that move objects button in the upper left; roads count as objects, and you can delete them by selecting them first with the pointer. Also using the object mover, you can manipulate laid roads, making them longer or shorter, curving them, and snapping them into place into crosswalks (the game will snap them in when you get close enough).
Basically, just use the move objects tool to mess with roads, and you'll figure it out pretty fast.

Being a photographer myself, I'm really digging the new photography stuff. I just really want someone to make a hack or something that adds a class for it. Getting those first few skill points for it sucks. Basements are very cool. Once AM is updated I'll be making a Vault society. Nectar is also a pretty neat novelty hobby, and I find the science of wine interesting enough. Tombs will probably be fun enough as long as you do them sparingly. Can't wait for some user made ones. The tombs that are in the French houses are really the best, I think.
I ended up buying this expansion pack. Don't know if I'll buy them all, but this one had enough stuff on the side that interested me.
