Yes, I've found out how to do it now. I just never made the right mouse movement before, I suppose. But thanks for the hints, I've got it working.

Oh, that's quite different then, from what I was trying to do. Thanks, I'll see if that camera will suit me - it would be good to keep the portraits separate from the other in-game pics, so I don't clean them out by accident sometime. Saves moving them manually too.

I really started to like the quality of the pics done in "mirror mode", and of course it was a bit tedious to get all the pics needed when I first started the database with appr. 500 sims.
Yes, thank goodness I'm starting early! I've taken pics of one family now, edited them and put them in just fine.

However, I must be being dumb about "mirror mode". When I tell them to 'change appearance' using a mirror, there's a static portrait that can't be turned (as you mentioned doing) and the in-game camera doesn't work. I could do print screen, but I suspect that's not what you meant. I think I must have misunderstood what you were doing.

So, I built a segment of wall, covered it with neutral paint, and used moveobjects to put each sim in front of my 'backdrop'. It works; I'm just wondering what I didn't get with your method.

In the past, I haven't tracked my sims, but played each family until I got bored. I mostly like building, and haven't been much involved with the storytelling aspect. However, I recently started a backwoods hood, with four cabins and no townies. (I'll add some soon, when the services get connected, so they can start businesses and have computers.) They've had a few babies, and there are fifteen sims now. I'm currently playing each household for about a week, and after a session of play, I make a few notes about major events or character developments that occurred. I also take pics of special events, and now of sims for the family tree. I have the synctimer installed, but I'm not finding it particularly useful as you have to enter a lot to look at the timer and find out which lot you are up to. It's easier to have a note on paper beside the computer.

Of course, I might be misunderstanding how the synctimer is supposed to be used!

Hi - what I do is that I take pictures in game, as a rule when I fix the look of the sim, in "mirror mode" (...)Then I edit it in PSP so that the size is always the same (100x150 pixels)
Thanks, I'll try that way. I did work out how to attach one of the snapshots from in-game, so this isn't much more to learn. I was being lazy and not wanting to take photos of each separate sim, but there you go. (At least there are only about fifteen sims in my hood at present.)

Thanks again.

The advantage I see with GenoPro is the options for saving pictures both for individuals and for events (weddings ect) and places (houses).
ingeli, I am trying to put pictures into my very new family tree. Your site seems to use the thumbnails from in-game - how do you get them into Genopro? I've tried a few different ways to get at them, and can't figure it out. Do you use SimPE? Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place.

I couldn't see any way to contact you from the Windlebridge site, so I'm trying this way.

FYI, I added squinge's CollegeInteractionsOnAnyLot to the mix, and the bookcases work properly again.

Thanks for that tip darcee.

I can certainly live without the movie, I waas more interested in why the mod didn't quite work as advertised.

Another update...playing in a clean game, my sims cannot use the bookcases for research. The only CC installed is Lion's unitest, the insiminator, Pescado's college clock and Twojeffs' Adjuster. I was testing whether I could use the adjuster or the clock to send them to finals without using testingcheats, but it seems not. It kinda looks as though the college clock should do it, but it seemed to just re-roll the wants panel. One time I turned the tester off after clicking Pescado's 'take exam now', and the sim still went to the exam okay. But otherwise, if this works ofr other people, I must be missing something.

In the process, I found out that the college option is missing from all bookcase menus. This is in both a dorm and a community lot, containing the Unitest. I checked La Fiesta Tech attached to that hood, and the bookcase in a dorm there worked fine.

is this a known problem?

Posting again in case Lion doesn't see that I've updated...

I've tested a dorm lot, still with just the unitest and Insim loaded. The sim moved in as before, no movie, with her 20 000. Appeared as YA, no twirl. That's one rich dorm sim!

I haven't seen any posts about this, but maybe the lack of scholarship money is to be expected. Just something to know about using this mod.

Thanks, it's great to have uni without a subhood anyway.

I'll check with no other hacks tomorrow; my computer time is very limited right now as the fan is dying.

Aging him to YA with the insiminator worked, and he even went autonomously to class. So I can still use the lot as a Uni one, but it's not quite working as advertised.

I'll report back when I've had a chance to check without other hacks.

Update...

I put the unitest files into the BasegameStarter, up to BV, with no other CC except the Insiminator (to age teens so they could move out). I created a teen prodigy and moved him out, then from the sim bin into a maxis house prepped with the unitest painting. He had 20 000 in the simbin as expected.

There was no movie, but the teen did appear magically transformed to YA, with the Uni stats showing. I'm sure movies are turned on, because I have never bothered to find out how to turn them off. I forgot to check what money he had after moving in, so I don't know about his scholarships.

Any hints about the movie? I can live without it if the rest works, but it would be nice to have the option.

I'll have to test my other hacks and find out what was messing with the aging yesterday.

Hi!

I am using this mod, but my teen didn't age to YA when moved into the lot. It's a normal res. lot, with the gold record in it.  I had the teen move out from his parent's home, then move into the uni lot as per instructions. No YA movie, no college stats. He's still a teen.

I checked that I have both Lion's files in my game. Also, I am currently trying out Inteen (don't hit me!). Is this mod not compatible with Inteen? I know a lot of things are not.

I can use a hack to age him up to YA, but will I get the college info that way? And of course the scholarship money hasn't appeared.

Update: I believe it was INteen causing that - it's a feature, so you can have regular families on campus. But doesn't work with this setup!
