I have zero plans on buying TS3. Maybe in the distant future when they come out with a "complete" edition, and even then it depends on what expansions are available. From all I've read here, it doesn't suit my play style at all. Plus, I haven't even finished building my "as custom as I can make it" neighborhood in TS2. I won't even consider TS3 until I'm bored playing that.

It doesn't even sound like it's gone beta yet so, assuming that they do some sort of community beta test, you can expect yet more delays as 'untrained' users will find yet more bugs.

EAxis? Beta test their software before release?

TS3 looks like a metric ton of DO NOT WANT to me from the little info they've released anyway. Why bother paying for arring wasting time with a broken game with a tiny fraction of the features of TS2 and its EPs?
3  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2007 September 17, 20:24:43
Thirded!

I have Argon's empty templates installed and NPC/Townie creator fix and now have all three vacation sub-hoods with no locals or tourists. My problem is creating new ones. I made a few of my own in CAS, spawned the NPC and Townie creator (on the lot with the sims I wanted to make into vacation sims), selected Make Into Vacation Sim -> Mountain -> (sim name). I got a message "(sim name) added to family Mountain" and I saw that this generated another character file... but the original sim is still playable on the lot.

Is there anything else that needs to be done? Is the new character file a clone of the one I made in CAS? I guess I was expecting it to work something more along the lines of the teleporter painting/shrub. Any chance that will be updated for BV?

Found out making clean vacation won't exactly be easy without an updated SimPE.

Details? Does Invisigoth's extension of Pescado's method (i.e. restoring from backup leaving in vacationXXX.package, Lots directory, suburbXXX.package) not work? I just tried it but haven't had time to test it properly. Simply loading the hood didn't result in a BFBVFS at least.

Do you have the patch?  I thought the OFB patch was supposed to fix that.  It would be good to know if it didn't.

Yes, I have the OFB patch. FFS didn't fix it either, nor did the patch for that.

I had the same thing happen:

http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=3287.msg103515#msg103515

Changes in sims' fitness levels seem to trigger this. The only workaround that I know of is to have them Change Appearance at any mirror and then change them back into uniform and it will give them their face back. Why it changes their faces to the ones it does (or at all for that matter) is beyond me.  Huh

I've never seen that, but it looks like data corruption is occurring somewhere. Is your game or neighborhood ported from NL?

Yes, it is. So far this is the only time I've seen these symbols come up in a thought or speech balloon.

There are a few known bugs with restaurants, although what exactly is wrong with them is unknown. In my game, I had problems with some kind of corrupted favorite food tokens, apparently because the format for NL and OFB food tokens was changed, and I wrote a mini-hack to simply zap the problem, but given that no one else reports the problem, I haven't put it out yet. I figure it might be an oddity confined to my own game.

Would this be the same problem?

I get the squiggly lines of doom every now and then when customers (all townies) are browsing the menu at playable sims' restaurants and then when someone tries to "sell" them the menu. I haven't seen them on any playable sims while at a restaurant though.

Just have the owner or a family member tell them to "Stop Minding the Store". Then they'll just be another controllable employee without all of the assignments queueing up.

I noticed this problem too and it bothered me very much until I found a cure : change appearance at the mirror (even if you don't really change a thing, simply accept the change (don't click on the X))
It seems to be necessary for every CAS sim after you created them and for every sim each time they change fitness level (from fit to fat for example and the other way around).
Hope it works in your game the same way as in mine

Yeah, I'd been using changing appearance mirrors as a workaround, but didn't know that changing fitness levels retriggered the bug... thanks!

One REALLY annoying bug I've just come across: putting playable sims in uniforms changes their entire face! For example, one of my CAS's suddenly had the same face as Remington the Maid! With no eyebrows! I haven't seen this with any townies I've hired, but so far almost every adult, playable sim has had their face literally rearranged by putting on a uniform.

Also, I had mentioned this previously for Uni lots, but it seems now that base neighborhood lots also have the problem of sims not always going to bed when told. They just walk up to the bed, it drops out of queue, and they decide to do something else totally not going to bed related. Even when about to drop from exhaustion. They don't always do this, but when they do, it's usually at the worst time.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Post problems you've noticed, on: 2006 March 06, 16:16:34
Here's a few I've noticed so far...

1. Sometimes Uni sims will not go to bed when told, even if a hair away from collapsing. They'll walk over to the bed and it will drop from the queue. I haven't seen this yet on a regular lot, but as I was putting my main characters through Uni (after starting over) this happened frequently in their dorms.

2. A few issues when sending "multple sims" to a lot: Didn't it used to ask you, one by one, if you wanted to send that sim? Now it's sending ALL (well, almost all, see below) of them (age child and up), even pregnant sims (which I want to avoid)! When Sim-Me's family had a teen and toddler and I tried to send everybody, I got a dialog telling me someone would have to stay behind or I could hire a nanny, then it gave me a list of teen or older sims on the lot that could stay, plus the nanny. I chose the teen son over hiring a nanny.

So now the toddler is a child, but when I try to send everybody, the teen will not go (nor can he select the car to get in when someone else does) but the child will. I also can't de-select anybody from going... it just auto-requeues. The workaround for this is to just send one sim, then have them call up the other teen & older sims individually after arrving (and since they're automatically managers, they become selectable) but this is inconvenient.

3. Final exams still bugged if they occur at regular class time.

There's some other minor ones but I can't recall them. Though on the positive side, I'm glad they fixed the issues with the newer Nvidia drivers (no more color-changing pillows and newpapers!) and the sound settings going back to stereo on each load.

Oh, thank goodness. No more yelling "I know you're hungry! That's why I just made you cook six servings of lobster thermidor. See! There it is! Eat it already FFS!" Thanks!
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 21, 18:02:37
I'm having a problem with my Uni sims not getting their "class in 1 hour" and "5 hours till the final" notifications in NL. They still get the "1 hour till the final" notice and the "go to class" action still queues up normally. I did a clean install of TS2, Uni, and NL and until seeing the list of OK'd hacks now, haven't been using any hacks or other custom content. Any suggestions?
