(I love Pescado, very funny smart guy.)

Everyone loves Pescado, and Pescado hates everyone.  Grin

As for EA... it's nowhere as smart as WAR-MART with its ruthless efficiency.
27  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: lost sites? on: 2005 September 21, 00:19:54
MTS2 was under maintenance last time I checked a few hours ago - it's working fine for me.
Variousimmers doesn't work for me right now.
28  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Aspiration Compatibility on: 2005 September 21, 00:05:35
Funny, how this "negative" reaction is the favorite aspiration for 20% of simmers for second place.  Smiley (According to official site poll.)

EDIT: In one of the cheat objects in the SPAWN function of boolprop/woolprop which I don't remember there is a POWER aspiration. Haven't done much research on it yet.
29  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Horrible camera angle while on downtown lots on: 2005 September 20, 22:54:10
Perchance you pressed the top view mode button which is on the bottom interface bar to the left? Press it again and it will revert.

That is only in the buy and build mode, not in actual play

I may have a similar problem is it when you are zoomed out your camera is looking horizontally but when you zoom in it slowely moves to a more vertical downward view (oposite to the standard).

I have that issue on some of my lots, not just community ones either, sometime it does it and other time it is OK,  Not sure how to fiz it but this may give others a better idea of what happening.

My bad - I haven't even used the thing before.  Lips sealed
30  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Aspiration Compatibility on: 2005 September 20, 22:40:44
Thanks, though I'm still confused why in the world a fortune sim would like a less than efficient food machine.  Wink
31  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 20, 22:39:47
I've had the problem, but I didn't manage to pinpoint it as I removed all hacks and put in only the ones I would die without. Anyway, it is in the list of Doctor Boris' list of not updated hacks.

I believe I have a small misunderstanding with that chart - is it saying that a Wealth sim will be on "good" terms with a Cheese sim, while Cheese sims will be on "neutral" terms to a Wealth sim?

In gramatical terms...
[Left Column = Subject Sim]
[Top Row = Direct Object Sim]
34  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: About that custom content warning screen on: 2005 September 19, 19:48:16
And I cant tell you how intensely happy I am that I can now sort my sim content (i.e. hair clothing etc) into folders.

Whoa! I must have missed hearing about this--do you mean inside the downloads folder? We can finally use subdirectories to sort BodyShop stuff? *holds breath*

Jen

That would be subfolders in SavedSims, right?
35  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Some Nightlife Issues...Anyone else with these? on: 2005 September 19, 04:58:26
Action cancelling only happend for me whilst I still had my hacks. As hellish it is I had to remove all. (And figuring out which one is the culprit! It's a FFS one as I removed all others.)

37  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why don't my custom skins show up? on: 2005 September 18, 01:38:05
Put all the files you described in the savedsims folder. If it doesn't work may a LFBVFS fall on me.  Smiley

(Since you can only have one child, there's more sexism in baby gender preferance. Idiots, now China has TONS of bachelors.  Roll Eyes)
Oddly enough, I've been thinking this about India as well, especially since pre-birth ultrasound - many female babies have been aborted in India. What happens next generation? So many males, so few females. Hopefully that would give females more power, though I read science fiction story which proposed the opposite - that women were guarded, precious and traded as a marketable commodity instead. Oh well, no change there then.
That reminds me, there are actually countries in which 50% of marriages result from abductions/kidnappings - I believe this was Kirghystan. Absolutely disgusting.

ZZ I definitly have to agree with you there, affirmative action is a good thing to have.  Wink The illegal "shipping" happens the other way too, rich Chinese, etc can "import" women from the poorer South-Asian countries.

Canadians don't use "Hon" very much but flaming for it is just silly, just look at the tone of the word. Actually where I used to live long time ago there was a word quite similar so I can relate - though in that case it wouldn't make sense in "Welcome to Baltimore, Hon." I would have thought it was a joke.
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hurricane Katrina on: 2005 September 12, 04:10:42
Human software used to be ok, that is until they used boolprop. Or was that woolprop, or poolbrop?

Sometimes, with my totally sadistic, deranged mind I want to see some of the caning that is done in Singapore to those who dare question the righteousness of the central government. (Well, in those quite obviously areas only, we don't want a dictatorship obviously.  Wink) Caning as in literally beating with a cane. When I see a beautiful park utterly massacred with litter, my blood boils.  Angry

42  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hurricane Katrina on: 2005 September 12, 02:58:28
Though definitly not saying that communism is a good thing, it has it's positives. East Asian countries have been and still are awfully negative about women's rights. In Imperial China this was to the degree where baby girls would be sold as slaves or abandoned to die. Even though Chairman Mao of communist China was a degenerate money worshipping bastard he had to stand up for his party to a certain extent and that included the doctrine that all people are equal. Now that China has gone back to capitalization the old trends are coming back, though obviously in a supressed manner. (Since you can only have one child, there's more sexism in baby gender preferance. Idiots, now China has TONS of bachelors.  Roll Eyes)

The same goes with capitalism. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn who got written by the book First Circle gets pointed out by the fact that the trend in 1950's Russia is to call capitalism "big moneyism". (Haha, bad joke, obviously not as awesome as Pescado's original.  Smiley For in Soviet Russia book writes YOU, and fact points out YOU!) Capitalism is in essence "big moneyism", but that makes it sound so much worse. Just because a society "communizes" doesn't mean everyone gets 100% the same allowances.

Vietnam would probably have been no better off with Ngo Dinh Diem if it was subject to the same conditions as the Communists. After all, Diem was a ruthless religious fanatic as well as a corrupt bastard, while Ho Chi Minh was quite the more moderate of the communists:
Situation Reversed:
1) USA; a communist nation declares war on South Vietnam.
2) South Vietnam rallies on the anti-colonial spirit to defeat the Northern communists and the USA Army.
3) United Capitalistic/Oligarchial Vietnam starts killing all communists and continues to persecute Buddhists.
(This is the real problem, after a war the people are bound to be swept by hatred.)

(Just an interesting, albeit useless fact: North Korea has the purest language system on earth, as it is untainted by "foreign" influences and apart from using a alphabet, it is phonetic language which means you cannot spell it wrong unless you are a SHEEP! Not that it matters, sheep that TyPe lYk d1S are destroyed. Plus, it has one of the highest literacy rates in the world.)

Welfare is a gimped idea in that some people work out of nothing to build fortunes while others continue their repulsive journey down poverty. The full solution involves heavy mental tampering to blast into the heads of the people recieving welfare as well as their children that they MUST live a life of significance and conscience!  Wink Putting all the political issues about it aside, did not Israel grow into a prosperous economy out of virtually nothing? Is not the kibbutz in essence a communistic/socialisitc organization? With the proper background socialism has worked and in FAR more awesome ways than the good ole USA with far more unfortunate geographies and histories. The Scandinavian countries are a shining example of that.

Canada is regarded as a moderate/democratic socialist country, as my teachers often attest.

I never understood why they never made the 2x2 buyable.  Roll Eyes 5x6 sounds rather overkill - but then my ancient video card can't support anything near that.
44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Are you going to buy Nightlife? on: 2005 August 26, 04:48:04
After going through the hell of installing University my eagarness for expansion packs have hit the dirt.  Shocked I would buy directly whenever released but it might just stay in box until I know there aren't LFBVFS shoved in there.

That's strange, because Alcohol 120% and Daemon Tools which are FAR more evil programs seem to not affect my game at all.?Roll Eyes

My roomie had the same problem when he first got the game (he had Nero, Clone CD, Alcohol, etc.). He ended up getting a no CD crack to work around it because there was no way he was taking anything off with all the CD burning he does. I think it has something to do with the SafeDisc protection which specifically bans Nero, Clone CD and Roxio, which is ridiculous considering that anyone who buys a computer these days with a burner purchases one of these programs in order to use it. I think Dell uses Roxio exclusively, which (I don't know this for sure as I haven't purchased a Dell) I think you purchase as part of your software bundle. I had something similar when I got a Gateway way back when.

I can understand their (EA's) need to prohibit copyright infringement, but I don't see where that gives them the right to dictate to the paying customer what programs he/she can keep on his/her own computer. I mean, customer support advises you to back up your game frequently, but how do you do that after they make you uninstall your CD burning software? Huh 쟅 just think that EA/Maxis is out of line demanding that their customers not use programs they dislike while at the same time not bothering to give them a working game.

I may get myself illegal copies from now on just to spite them. ?Sad

All my three Dell's (at least they do not explode into a LFBVFS like my Compaq did.) came with Roxio but I deleted it on the computer with Sims 2 - before I had a chance to install it. Plus, from my past usage Roxio does not come with a lot of capability in terms of CD cloning, and quite a lot of games that I made backup copies did not work at all, that being the cause of why I deleted it...

As I always state to my friends who burn/download their programs as many modern young adults do: Illegal activity is ALWAYS exciting.
Do it, Doooo it! *Insidious voice* Anyway, you are discouraging capitalism and realizing the good old days of Soviet Russia, where game bought YOU!  Wink

I third that - some files from the same creator seem to gather together while others go simply berserk.

Chapter 3 is up. See my sig for My Sim Page address.

Great story, I read it just after it was released. Too bad you don't get any waffles.  Wink

I use Daemon tools to play the game.  I've never had a problem.  I don't like using the actual discs (which I do have btw) because my kids take discs out of the drives and leave them getting scratched all over the place.

Chris

Same here - not to mention that I'm a compulsive sloppy sim that just can't keep track of all my CD's.  Tongue
49  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Are you going to buy Nightlife? on: 2005 August 22, 17:10:41
I answered 5, but I could be swayed if everyone here said it was good.

I think I hit the roof over this whole patch/sucky game nonsense yesterday. I've spent the last week backing up my computer and removing programs after my hard drive hit full. This required using Clone CD and Nero to burn copies of my files. Well, I've had both programs on my computer since I bought Sims 2 and never had a problem with it. After burning the last disk, I start up Sims 2 and get the "You have evil CD/DVD emulation software on your computer. You can't play the game you paid $50 for unless you remove these other programs that you are using for perfectly legal means" error window. I threw a fit. Then I uninstalled Clone CD and Nero but will reinstall them later when needed.

After that, I don't think I could stomach throwing away anymore money on a game that decides what I can and can't have on my own computer after I legally purchased said game.

That's strange, because Alcohol 120% and Daemon Tools which are FAR more evil programs seem to not affect my game at all.  Roll Eyes
50  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Flashing graphics on: 2005 August 22, 15:58:09
Is the flashing done in blue, or is more like general flashing of the normal objects?
As far as I know you can't upload videos to here - you could try uploading to another side and link it through the hyperlink button which is above the  Grin face.  Wink You could also post a series of pictures - you can do that directly off the site. (The button left of hyperlink.)
