26  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what is an overpopulated neighborhood anyway? on: 2005 August 31, 11:34:21
I've done it before. The memories just lack a subject. I can't see how it's harmful. And they can easily be deleted /reassigned to another sim Smiley
27  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: SimPE Weirdness - Multiple Instances of the same sim, in on: 2005 August 31, 11:29:35
I'll try that Smiley but I'm pretty sure it's going to be the new one at the bottom. What I'll do is, I'll make a backup of the neighbourhood and delete one instance, and see what happens. I think it's just SimPE reading one package twice, in that assinine way it does.
28  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / SimPE Weirdness - Multiple Instances of the same sim, in on: 2005 August 30, 21:15:35
I'd like to think I know my way around SimPE pretty well, so this is probably something wrong with the game. In my superhero neighbourhood (just X-Men at the moment), I noticed that one of the sims (Rogue) was listed twice. I do some investigating, and SimPE decides to give me a useless alert message a bit too late.

Quote
This is just a Warning. It is supposed to keep you informed about a Problem. Most of the Time this is not a Bug!

The Sim with GUID 0xF016576E (inst=0x000B) exists more than once. This could result in  Problems during the Gameplay!

No, you think?

It's in istance 0B as well as 06, and she has no relations with anyone. This neighbourhood is also squeaky clean. I used deleteallcharacters straight away, and this family has never been played in a lot because I wanted to adjust the family trees and fix their last names first.

They're listed as being in the same family and they share a GUID. The sim has no information whatsoever, whereas all her CAS family members are fine. She was fine earlier on before I used SimPE and saved. I'm not saying it's SimPE. I went into the neighbourhood earlier on to make another CAS sim (Mystique) who I'd later set as the mother of 0xF016576E, and she happens to be the very one with a problem.

One of them is listed with "treat as male", which is probably the default for newly and randomly spawned sims outside the game. I think they might be reading the same package twice... but then, it makes no sense how they can be read separately when they're both the same package in the characters folder.

Can I just delete just this instance (since the sim is the same) (and safely?), manually give the other one some information and forget it ever happened... or is it as I fear... that the whole damn neighbourhood isn't worth playing now?  I would post on ambertation, but they're down, and quaxi and pinhead seem to focus on the object workshop more anyway - plus, I know for a fact everyone here is clever and confident enough to give me some kind of answer.

Thank you guys so much.

turn any Uni townies into babies, or you find them lying around all over the place on community lots - didn't happen with the Pleasantview townies, though!

I have to do that. I can just imagine it. "T-Virus hits La Fiesta Tech". Excellent...
30  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Maxis chat ... was it worthless? on: 2005 August 26, 14:38:41
I'm sad. The alien-vampire-zombie thing sounds good to me lol Cheesy as does the ability to put anything in an inventory, and so, make proper cemetaries.
31  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Are you going to buy Nightlife? on: 2005 August 26, 00:07:10
I will probably buy it eventually, after it's been on Ebay for a while and I can get a decent used copy from Timbuktu or something.  I'm saving my pennies for Zelda:  Twilight Princess if it ever comes out!  Groan!

C

Yep, Twilight Princess is on my list next to Nightlife as soon as Americans endure and identify the bugs Wink along with Pokemon XD: Gale of Shadows.
32  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deleting memories for dummies on: 2005 August 25, 15:41:00
Well, long dead sims don't exist in my neighbourhood. I have the gravemarkers on all the townies i cow-planted, and, as for playable sims, I have a total of 6 dead, all with graves, and all in place in the char files.

What is really eating my shorts is, I had over 110 unknown sims in my game, out of a grand total of around 380.
Now, after spending what feels like a month on sifting through memories, clearing those, and sifting through relationships, and finally building a complete list of every sim in the game, including which char file they have, i coould delete 49 of those unknown sims. Yay, go me. But that was unknown sims, that actually had a N0004_user0000000014.package file. I have at the moment no less than

72

unknown sims in my game, that does not have a character file in my game, yet shows up as an unknown sim in SimPE. And that is excluding the hula girl, the grim reaper, the psychiatrist, and the polination technician.

Granted, I'll allow for another 8 to be part of the expanded polination package, and I'll give another 1 for the woohoo girls. But that still leaves over 60 unknown identities in my game, out of a total of now 300. Huh

Wait for the new SimPE, it will recognise them.
33  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a way to change eyebrow color for custom hair? on: 2005 August 25, 15:39:25
Using DatGen's hairtoner, you can assign it a genetics bin, which means blonde hair can now be recognised as blonde hair and get blonde eyebrows. You can also change eyebrow colours with SimPE, by editting genetics, and through the in-game mirror, under change appearance Smiley
34  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: who's playing this game? on: 2005 August 24, 21:35:01
My mom has fibromylagia. And I know someone with Aspergers' who's obsessed with wolves.
35  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deleting memories for dummies on: 2005 August 24, 17:13:50
The unknown sims are the long-dead sims. It's a SimPE bug updated in "QA 0.45l" and will be updated publically in 0.46.
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: More questions about messing with NPCs on: 2005 August 22, 11:37:40
Open the university's package in SimPE, set Sim State Secret Society as "Residential" it will then appear Smiley - package it and return to a backup Smiley
37  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deleting memories for dummies on: 2005 August 21, 13:56:37
Delete NO UNKNOWN SIMS unless you are using the old GUI, or 0.45l or 0.46 or SimPE and can make sure they aren't Grimmy, Hula or Therapist or important in another way. You can pretty much delete any memory as long as it's not a token memory like "Token - Sim Initialised" or "Token - Family Aspiration" or "Token - Foods Cooked Well" etc.
38  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: who's playing this game? on: 2005 August 20, 23:49:15
I have a love of writing. I hope to be an author. I think you can create beautiful art through literature Smiley
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Resurrecting Skip Broke (A SimPE Question) on: 2005 August 20, 16:36:36
I know it's already been answered, but I've made Skip/Bella/Michael Bachelor resurrection tutorials on TSR and have posted pictures and everything. Remember, it's the skip ending in "D0".
40  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New SimPE w/gender pref on: 2005 August 20, 13:31:02
Especially since SimPE can do anything for free, and now is "prettier" too. Even DatGen owns SimEnhancer.
41  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New SimPE w/gender pref on: 2005 August 19, 23:23:27
The new QA version has fixed this - yay Smiley
42  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Plastic Surgery for Child and up on: 2005 August 19, 12:34:41
If you set them as adults in SimPE, they can use it. Then you can set them back as kids the same way.
43  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New SimPE w/gender pref on: 2005 August 18, 17:57:46
Over at ambertation.de/simpeforum, I posted a BIG clear .png screenshot of the problem taken in version 0.45j which is "the next version", available for beta testing in QA. Hopefully pictures are a universal language Smiley
44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New SimPE w/gender pref on: 2005 August 18, 17:02:26
I would not like to diss Quaxi at all, especially since he's invented such an amazing program and doesn't have to answer us about anything Wink unless it's out the goodness of his heart, which so far, it has been. It's also hard when English isn't your first language, and you have to understand problems with a foreign version, you know? I saw you on ambertation again, rain, and Quaxi did respond to say he hadn't investigated the problems yet Smiley
45  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New SimPE w/gender pref on: 2005 August 17, 13:28:34
I was wondering what was going on when I used InSim's Personal Stats menu in the sims, and they were showing up the opposite of what I had set them to be.  For instance, I set General Buzz +1000 Woman and -1000 Man, and his sats show somewthing like -999 Woman and 995 Man!  So what others are saying about SimPE being backwards makes sense.  How annoying.

And speaking of the new SimPE, while some things are easier, such as the Family ties editor where you can see the family trees, I don't like how the older relatives without character data now show up as Unknown with a Mr. Potato Head icon!  Someone asked about it over at SimPE's forum, and I posted that I was having similar problems, and quaxi has not responded yet.  It is rather frustrating.

Yes, they simply ignore us and pretend there's no problem. Nice to see you here as well, rainbow.
46  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No Option to Become Engaged/Marry After Graduation on: 2005 August 02, 18:01:39
Was I supposed to hit "Commit" somewhere like you do with the DNA & relationship changes?

Yep. Always commit.
47  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pregnancy Controller Question (SimPE) on: 2005 July 31, 16:24:52
Yes, it randomly addedd 0000 once, but I deleted it because it wasn't there before. It seemed like something SimPE wasn't meant to do.
48  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pregnancy Controller Question (SimPE) on: 2005 July 30, 19:33:45
This happened to a sim who  I had been playing though... I had unintentionally caused the Brandi Broke effect. Now, I removed "unlinked" from the dad - nothing. I changed the dads using SimPE - partial success, the baby inherits his genes but he doesn't appear on the family tree. That's why I need to understand what they did with Skip... how do I get him to show on SimPE?
49  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pregnancy Controller Question (SimPE) on: 2005 July 21, 19:04:12
I was wondering if possibly it referred the game to the previous woohoo before the controller was issued, to make that show as the father on the tree, since for the purpose of storytelling, her memories referred to having "cheated with Mystery Sim" etc., so you can see why I'm not sure.

Does anyone who did the Brandi Broke research have the answer?
50  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pregnancy Controller Question (SimPE) on: 2005 July 21, 18:48:30
In the case of Brandi Broke, the controller pregnancy reads 0009 00D0 004A 0001,  The second set of 4 digits is the father reference.  Therefore 00D0 is Skip Broke.

Yes, I was aware of that... my first post explains how I changed the father from one person to another, and whilst you see the results genetically, it doesn't show on the tree. Her CP is 0009 0007D XXXX 0001. What is the XXXX?
