1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Do subfolders no longer work? on: 2007 December 08, 14:53:35
I finally upgraded the 'puter enough to run all the EPs and stuff packs without too much lag so when I added some of the cc to the Downloads folder to test it only some showed up.  (Yes I enabled cc Tongue)  Anything that was in a subfolder wasn't showing up.  How the fook are we supposed to manage cc without subfolders>Huh

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but I searched and looked but couldn't find a relevant topic,
2  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV and no CD? on: 2007 October 09, 23:19:03
It was my understanding that the dvd version released in Europe didn't contain SecuROM - but I did the check anyway and I found a (empty) hidden file which could have come from the H&M pack

Were you leaving your AV software running when playing your game? That could've been part of the problem. You should always disable your antivirus before firing up your game. I'd recommend AVG antivirus. I've been using it for a few years now, and have never had problems with it -- it even found things that other softwares had missed. It's easily disabled from your system tray, and best of all, it's free!

I have been running the game with the broadband disconnected - I had the AVG anti-virus before and it was ok so I may reinstall that.  (Avast was free too)
De-fragging helped a bit  - we can play a few hours without a problem - then clicking on a maxis item in the catalogue either makes it freeze or crash.  It isn't always the same item so it is very frustrating.

Saving hard now for a new system with lots of RAM...
4  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: First ever Direct X 9 error. on: 2007 September 27, 10:42:59
I've been getting the same message - although I have played BV for 2 weeks (with a few crashes - but I think that is more to do with lack of virtual memory) I cannot load the game at all.
The only difference being that I had recently installed Avast - which I uninstalled and managed to load the game but it froze after 2 minutes of playing (I was in build mode) - now it has reverted to the Directx message.  I tried installing a no-cd crack but am still getting the  same message Sad

Processor: AMD Duron(tm) MMX (1.3GHz)

DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
(Direct X is reporting no problems found.)
Card name: ATI Radeon 9600 Atlantis

I ran SimPE, there were no conflicts.  I had some CC that enabled Glamour Stuff without the pack, but I had already removed it before I installed BV.  Today we had a new problem the game isn't recognising the disc and says - Please insert the original disc instead of a backup (1000). Similar problem as on this thread so I'm going to try now to see if it will run without a disc.

Do you think EAxis are shipping pirated DVDs in official packs?

ETA: I have solved part of the problem by uninstalling Avast! which leaves me with no anti-virus protection.  Oh well, the rest my PC can go kaput as long as I can play Sims.  This must be what EAxis is striving for.
6  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Glamour Life outfit crashes the game on: 2007 September 23, 01:30:08
I gave in and bought GLS, Celebrations and the H&M packs and the game keeps crashing.  There is one particular outfit from Glamour that seems responsible whether choosing it in game or in CAS

Have just installed BV but the stuff packs were added after Seasons.  Should they have been installed in order or doesn't it matter??
7  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Blacked out heads on: 2006 December 18, 13:08:16
I think I know how this works now.  The problem didn't go away after I age transitioned him with Insim and then a baby was born in the game with the same masked face.  When he became a toddler I messed around to try and change his appearance but although I tried to add a face paint and remove it which usually works, this rime it didn't and I thought I had a problem.  I put on some freckles as I like some of my kids to have them and then I wasn't sure what happened because his face appeared.
I retraced the steps and I must have changed his eyebrows.  I went back to the forst kid and changed his brows lo and behold he had his normal face back.  It has worked on all the townies too.

I don't remember installing default eyebrows but I must have done and these overwrote the first two maxis brows (although for some strange reason the other is ok)
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Floating Simkids on: 2006 December 01, 16:20:34
I only played one family with a kid and it happened while he was macro-socialising with his grandpa - they were chatting about birds at the time so it looked cute
9  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Blacked out heads on: 2006 November 20, 03:36:41
I have the opposite problem to sanmonroe's Floating disembodied head.
After I reluctantly installed Pets several of the Uni dormies had no faces and I played a CAS family (created before Pets) today and the son (child) also has a silhouette-type head.  The hair is fine and the clothes/skin from the neck down are normal, as is the loading picture and the on on the sidebar.  I thought it might be a custom skin but his mother has the same skin and she is ok. I tried the electric shock solution by going into *change appearance* and selecting a face paint, then deleting it but the face was still blacked out,
I haven't reloaded my hacks yet as I came here for any updates, but my cc has just been put back into the game after I tested it.  I've never seen this before and I cannot find anyone else with the same problem.

11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Wedding Party goes from *roof-raiser* to disaster in seconds... on: 2006 August 04, 02:38:19
I'm well practised at throwing parties (Sims and IRL Wink ) but this has only happened since the OFB patches.
It is random which sim gets which memory - the sim throwing the party or a guest.
I wondered if there was any glitch causing it.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Wedding Party goes from *roof-raiser* to disaster in seconds... on: 2006 August 03, 05:19:58
... and there is no apparent reason for it.  Sometimes the Sim has a memory of the disaster and another will remember the roof-raiser.  It has happened on different lots with different families in a custom 'hood.

16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: a bank loan mod? on: 2006 July 30, 12:57:17
I noticed in other houses I've played before, that if a Sim already has money deposited in an account, the option for a loan will not show up for them.  I didn't check to see if it was open to other Sims in the house, without an account.

A family I am playing has the mother with a deposit account of $20,000.  The daughter was able to take out a loan to buy a community lot to open a business.  The interest the mother receives covers the loan repayments.

Double posting is when you write two messages instead of including everything in one post by modifying the original
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims 1 Mods? Are they still around? on: 2006 July 29, 14:23:07
SimsOne is another good place as is Around the Sims

For the adult themes try deviant sim
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Skins, Eyes, Hair, etc... on: 2006 July 29, 13:49:39
I like Enayla's skins for a new default set. You can get her stuff at modthesims2.com

For hair I suggest Seomi from the same site.

Peggy at peggy2sims.net and xmsims.com
I prefer RoseSims to Peggy
Seomi also has her own site
Another site with interesting eyes is pimp-my-sims
Neptune Suzy and Grizzelda's hair is fanastic here

23  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Deleting, Creating, and Generating Townies OFB and pre-OFB on: 2006 July 21, 14:44:37
Most service NPCs can be converted to playables without much problems, but there are exceptions. Examples are the mascots and cheerleaders from uni: they will not age, and keep wearing their uniforms on community lots.

I had a born-in-game sim marry the cow mascot and although he occasionally reverted to wearing the cow uniform (most memorably at their daughter's wedding lol) he aged through adult to elder without any BFBVFS.  Is it a VBT because one of my CAS sims has a thing for the repairman?
