1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Do player vampires autonomously bite and turn other player sims? on: 2007 November 04, 17:52:28
I kind of wish they did, I only have one Grand Vamp and he's a little obsessed with one of my boys.
It would be a little more interesting if his Vamp Spawn would occasionally act on their desire to spread the love, I'm sick of influencing and trying to pretend they chose to do it on their own.
2  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom-created dormies/Uni NPCs with the teleporter shrub on: 2007 November 01, 05:29:48
I believe you have to put them on a Rental Lot (vs dorm) and use the shrub if you want them to be Dormies, but it's been a while...
try one or two...
3  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is there a way to change a Sim's displayed skintone without SimPE? on: 2007 October 16, 03:37:07
I was thinking the same thing.
Sounds like one of those skins linked to a mesh though, I've had one or two and unfortunately, though they'll go nude in the shower, accessories (rings, nailpolish and miscellaneous uhm, bits) will still show up.

You think a floating head is disturbing? Try the floating head over the Crammyboy... rings and necklaces don't make it any prettier.

My aunt & uncle adopted a baby in the 60s and as his arrival was sooner than expected, he slept in a drawer the first night or two.
My understanding was that they'd removed it from the dresser, but this is funnier.

Great job!

Zoidberg would be pretty cool if he doesn't turn out like these Spongebob characters using the same crab dealies:

Wow, I wish I'd seen that in time for the worst celebrity look a like contest...that looks nothing like Mr. Krabs. Roll Eyes

6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Three last questions, I swear this is it on: 2007 September 20, 03:16:41
yeah, I had the borked memories on a Legacy lot where too many kids with too many feats of accomplishment (max skills, A+, new friends etc.) had left Great-Grandpa with 9 bazillion memories.

I cleared the gossip, A+, meh, all the stupid ones and all was good.

ok, so they're just Sims, and relatively attractive Sims at that, it's the pictures I wanted to draw attention to because they definately made me tip my head and frown.
I shudder each time I see them...
ReginaS is certainly not the only one to do it (paste a Sim face on a human head) but these were the first 3 I found and I really couldn't bear to keep looking.

WTF?
9  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Dance skill shot up to 35? on: 2007 September 16, 16:04:03
I played a very long time with just the base game and have noticed that the Sims who were dancing (before adding EPs) have numbers higher than 10.
I didn't let many of my Sims waste good skilling time on dancing when there was no point, but one who did had a skill of 46 when I checked her after installing EPs, a couple of her flings had numbers in the 20s.

It hasn't caused any problems, or at least any that I'm aware of, but I've only seen numbers higher than 10 on pre-EP sims.
I'm still only playing with Uni and NL, so I'm aware this may be completely irrelevant.

10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Rabbit Head Obsession on: 2007 September 14, 23:06:36
Really?
Though I give my toddlers whatever toy they want, my favourite is the xylophone (though I use a frying pan with a wooden spoon or the funky Parsimonious creative toy) because the more creative points they get as toddlers, the faster they'll be painting masterpieces...heh heh
(most of my sims are very playful so it works out)
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Random Limo Drive By on: 2007 September 10, 16:46:10
Sounds like you have the Obsessed Fan hiding out in your yard! Cheesy

ooh, wasn't that guy the worst? I had trained dogs and everything but he just didn't give up!

I've had the occasional carpool show up when there was nobody in the house set to go to work (or even in that particular carpool type) most recently, the yellow sports car.
I was a little worried because it was a house full of vampires who were all sleeping in their coffins, but it wasn't for any of them.
Just pulled up, waited about 4 seconds then drove off...

12  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: DRAFT: Ghetto Superstar (testers needed) on: 2007 September 06, 21:21:01
hmm,
I have a Chessboard which is one object that gives one skill, though it has 2 seats... not 100% sure it's allowed (there is also the newspaper which could eventually give Logic if you did every crossword) but I figure that if Telescopes are allowed, it should be too...

I also have all 3 toddler toys but don't allow them on the lot at the same time (ie... the easel is gone until the toddler who wants creative points has hit child) though by the rules as stated, I could let my teen paint, put the easel in his inventory while he's in school so the toddlers can gain creative. Not sure what's intended so I do it the harder way.
13  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: DRAFT: Ghetto Superstar (testers needed) on: 2007 September 05, 21:33:10
Hmm, that's obviously a flaw in the preg 4 all thing that I haven't thought of. You may not have sims of both sexes breeding, you have to pick one sex that is allowed to breed and stick with it. Either that or only use the hack with the CAS sim. I thought I would allow it in order to allow gay couples or starting the challenge with a man, but making it so that every sim is allowed to breed really throws a wrench in the works, and makes it really unfair for those without the hack. Hmm. Maybe I'll just scrap it altogether.

As far as the other rules go, I will update the first post when they are finalized.

I wouldn't consider it a flaw, perhaps just something that needed clarification.
I'm not sure how much of a disadvantage it would be to people without the hack, as they can always start with a female (which they would do anyway)
I think with a rule that only Sims of the same gender as your founder are allowed to breed, it's fine.

I'm glad I asked well before he reached adulthood.
14  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: DRAFT: Ghetto Superstar (testers needed) on: 2007 September 05, 05:24:59
ETA... can I suggest putting all rules and proposed rules in the first post? I almost missed that preg for all can be used...Hooray!

I started with a pregnant teen - wow, an incredibly hard start, so much so that I started a second with an adult just for a break!
Starting with an adult was incredibly easy by comparison because she wasn't pregnant.  Plus, she only had drag her sorry ass to work, versus the school and work my poor teen struggled through.

Currently playing my 'Pregnant teen' lot and the poor thing has been reduced to a breeding sow. She hasn't been to work in eons and after spawning her 7th child, her vac has hit 16 days. Her firstborn is an adult now and seeing as she can't get a job, has decided to begin her own spawn cycle.
Limiting myself to one approved community lots (it bites) and tiny residential lot (2x1?) with 2 pregnant adult females, 2 teen boys, 2 children, a toddler and a baby, it's become more challenging to keep everyone entertained with the 'one of each' rule, heh heh.  I like and am following all the Proposed changes, including the no toddler toy exception, though it makes things so much harder, I think it's a good rule. (think max skills should be worth more than 2 because with no smart milk/thinking caps and only one of each skill builder, that'd be damn near impossible)

Because I'm going to see exactly how many sims I can cram on this lot, I am thrilled with the Proposed preg for all.
My teen boys are dating, and I want them to enjoy the same risks as everyone else in my game when they reach adulthood. I'm playing in a clean neighbourhood with 30 freshly generated townies and they come in all ages so the pool is shallow. So far, one teen prefers his own gender, but with my founder following her firstborn (daughter) with 4 sons in a predominantly male neighbourhood, there will likely be more.

By the way, I'm playing without Seasons and OFB, so there's no inventory-ing pizza, leftovers, gardening, fish or lemonade stands. It makes things more challenging but I'm not sure they would have been able to do it without selling date rewards.
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Perhaps this sim should consider joining Blue Man group... on: 2007 August 25, 00:33:47
I had a blue faced teen eons ago with only the base game.  It happened (pre-kitten killer) after deleting a bunch of crappy CC which not only included his eyebrows, but eye colour and maybe even skintone.
Though I'd likely deleted at least one 'part' from every Sim in the neighbourhood in the big purge, he was the only blue face.
A quick 'change appearance' fixed it permanently, once it stopped amusing me (which took most of his teen years, because that really is a good one!)
16  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: No Telepathy on: 2007 August 25, 00:06:03
um, use Theo's memory plug-in and delete as many as you want at a time in SimPE?
there's a link somewhere in Peasantry....

(you'll love it)
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Questions about linked genetics on: 2007 August 20, 05:12:02
I think it's just teen boys that lose the alien eye colour, my female aliens have always kept theirs.
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Will the Gardener Ever Be Fixed? Or is it just me? on: 2007 August 20, 05:03:00
I still use Inge's NoCareFlowers_patch from ages ago, it makes the Maxis flowers decorative.
I prefer it to TJ's because it also prevents butterflies (which I found distracting, particularly when they were oblivious to the walls and would flutter around inside)
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Legacy family sizes on: 2007 August 20, 04:18:13
Move out the Spares or the most annoying Spouse.
I haven't played that one in eons, and had a full house as soon as Gen2 bred. Founder/Spouse, Firstborn/Spouse/Child, Secondborn/Spouse/child...

Because full lots are more interesting, I kept the house full. Sims died and were replaced by spouses or children for the next generation.
I do recall once having to make the decision because I wanted the Gen3 pregnant heiress to be marry in her fiance.
The house had her parents, her uncle (spare) cousin/spouse/child.

Because her cousin was a romance Sim and his spouse (Kaylynn the maid) was a horrible mother and everyone hated her anyway... I just moved her out.
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is it safe to rename your neighbourhoods? on: 2007 August 15, 23:20:31
Could it be the program at File Renamer?

heh heh, yeah, that's the one...it's been extraordinarily helpful in my sims org/re-org...
my favourite feature is - delete 9 stupid pointless leading characters from 100 files at once, (13 if they're from MTS)

I've used it to rename backup copies (ie.. backed up N005 before renaming it to N009, loaded game with both versions while testing...)
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is it safe to rename your neighbourhoods? on: 2007 August 10, 22:07:28
Probably redundant after Madame Mim's post, but I've renamed several of them and have never had a problem.

I have about 16 different neighbourhoods and tend to only play with 2 or 3 loaded at any given time. Creating new test hoods that eventually turn into something I want to keep, or restoring backups to see what's changed has given me plenty of opportunity to test it.
While I've never gone over 020, I use a file renamer (aptly called File Renamer) to rename everything in the hood and it's all good.
22  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sim stuck at Secret Society - can't get home on: 2007 August 10, 22:07:01
For my game (where abductees couldn't leave except by exitting the lot and re-entering the dorm through the hood screen, also had the budget problem) I removed clothing tool global, (conflict with Inteen which you don't have, but perhaps there's also woohoo teen conflict?) added ste's lottery fix  and it seems ok now.
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Poll: Stealth Stairs on: 2007 July 27, 03:54:27
Though your explanation was very good, I was having a hard time picturing it so I went and read a couple tutorials on building them.
Now I'm thinking I'll vote 'love them' because even though I'm far too inept to create them, I'd definately like to try a house or two with them.

Though I do like realism in my game, the idea of different stairs matches my idea of realism and the way they'd look (or not look - be hidden away) would be more important than the animation. Watching how my sims get upstairs just isn't an important part of my play time.

But this one was so funny and original!  And OH NOES!  I can't take the cliffhanger ending!  When will there be a part two!?!  They've got a murdress in their midst!  ::panics and loots the forum::

You managed to read the entire thing? I'm impressed. My brain went OW after the "interviews".

My first (frist) thought was that Papa and Mama at 87 and 72 seemed hella old to have an 18 year old daughter...
How many photos does it take to get an ugly girl to her whore interview?
Correct Answer: 0, just skip to the part where the used up whore is laughing her head off because an ugly girl thought she could get paid to woohoo.

That the captions could range between pleasant use of spaces, capitals and accurate spelling to 'kitty on my keyboard' (and often on the same page) blew my mind and though I quietly hate that, I became intrigued and found myself looking for a pattern.

Are there underlying clues to be gathered from the so-random-it-must-be-deliberate use of caps? (I thought so when she said 'Daughter Named Whatever but everyone calls her mimi, sort of like, the girl was less worthy of a Proper name once she'd joined the 'biz')
Then I wondered if it was a Shared Story concept, where one would try to create an interesting panel only to find their stupid friend had cheated and just threw in another door shot.

the possibilities are far more interesting than the story itself
25  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Lights won´t effect objects on: 2007 July 26, 22:51:13
In my game, it started at NL but it wouldn't be fair for me to say NL per se has a problem because my game is very non-standard
-7Gig of compressed CC, including nearly 400 hacks and other items that mod game behaviour.
I don't have anything that I would expect to affect light, but for all I know something as benign as a custom mirror could share a line of code with those specific ceiling lights.

Then again, I did have issues in the barenekkid game for the half hour I tried it - pillows turned purple when the beds were in use, as did the newspaper when being read, before the stuff went back in... so maybe it was NL!?
