Yes - once i get a set created you'd be able to make your own set & they would show up in body shop & they are available to newly generated sims, you just can't choose them from CAS.

77  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Who the heck doesn't skip class for a date? on: 2006 December 06, 23:22:00
This is the main reason I don't do dates for my YAs - Go to Class should not cancle the date automatically - you should have the choice especially if their class bar is already full & you wouldn't send them to class anyway.

It seems like there should be some way to modify this action - it doesn't automatically cancel other actions - it just sits in the queue. There should be some way to modify this so the icon just gets queued rather than automatically cancelling the date.

If you take them off campus it does not happen, but dates on campus result in ending the date - frustrating if you are 1 interaction from getting the perfect date score! Not sure what to do about it cancelling between the time you arrange the date & the date actually starting, though. Which obviously gives you a bad date score :/
78  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: house lighs won't turn on on: 2006 December 06, 23:07:27
Ivy,

Thank you! That is exactly what the problem was. There were no ceiling tiles - actually there were just a few of them but they were right above the actual floor. I have no idea how that happpened, but one i added a floor to the second level & then erased it & put the roof back on the lights came on!

YAY!!!

Thank you Wink
79  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / house lights won't turn on on: 2006 December 06, 07:52:57
Hi Smiley

I was wondering if anyone ever had this problem & if so, is there a solution.

I have one sim house where the lights will not turn on. i have deleted them, put in new ones, tried numerous different lights but they just won't turn on. All of the other houses work. I've tried turning them on & off, this room, autolights, everything.

I don't have any of the light hacks except the CommunityLightsOn

I'm starting to think that there's a problem with the lot.......
80  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: help with eyebrow colors on: 2006 December 05, 23:30:44
I'm fairly certain that if you edit the property set & change the hairtone(dtstring)= line to the appropriate number as below it will then pick the right eyebrow color. If that's not it, you might need to delete the Proxy line & i can't remember if that's in the Property Set or if it's somewhere else - like maybe the Collection or Binary index.

81  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to remove the custom content marker from Maxis clothing? on: 2006 December 04, 04:20:19
Thanks JM - I was afraid it was hardcoded :/

I am loathe to modify the existing skins.packages so, I'll thy the overrides folder.

Yes, it does bug me that much - I have to sift through 50 or 60 "custom" outfits that aren't really custom just to find the real custom stuff. I just want the EA content to show up as EA content & not as custom because..... it isn't bloody custom!

Thnaks for the solution!

82  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: move in problem on: 2006 December 03, 05:10:39
An alternative work around I found very early on is Squinge's More pets - it icreases the number of pets allowed on the lot, which in turn allowed me to move in my pledges.

It is an EA bug. I contacted Tech Support about it a few days after pets came out & was told point blank that this was simple a game play issue & that I could find the answer on the Bulliten Board! God, their Tech Suppoet sucks, big time.
83  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to remove the custom content marker from Maxis clothing? on: 2006 December 03, 05:05:18
I **wish** it was that simple!

I've changed all of the creator keys to 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 (the Maxis default) I've deleted the product & Version numbers, changed the flags to 0x00000000 - believe me - I have tried everything i can thik of to try.

I have a feeling that it's been hard coded into the game, that any clothing, makeup, hair, etc found in the downloads folder is going to get that custom content marker. I guess that leaves modifying the actual game package. I really don't want to have to do that, but, I suppose it would be safe enough as long as I back up the package first.
84  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / How to remove the custom content marker from Maxis clothing? on: 2006 December 03, 01:25:54
Hi Smiley

Does anyone know of a way to remove the custom content marker from Maxis clothing? Ever since installing Pets all of the clothing I recategorized from Adult to YA + Adult is now showing up as custom content :/ Now, I recategorized a lot of stuff, so I am having a hard time finding the actual custom stuff because nearly all of the Maxis clothing is showing the *

In all of these cases the only thing in the file I have is the Property Set & all I did was change the age from 0x00000008 to 0x00000048. This should not be showing up as custom content!

Any ideas?

85  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: afarch_Hilary.package (topic was "Random Duffs?") on: 2006 December 02, 04:02:50
There's good news & bad news.

I have pinned down the problem of why the new faces do not show up in CAS. It has to do with how the sims are put together from the sim template & the globalcatbin.bundle.package - that's the good news Smiley The bad news is that I can't figure out how the game is actually putting the stuff together with the sim template & the above package. I can see definite relationships in that package but I can not figure out how it is connecting the actual archetypes to the specific files - maybe someone with more knowledge or patience than me will figure it out.

So, we are able to add new archetypes & they do show up just fine in bodyshop but CAS is going to have to wait for someone else to tackle the problem.

Once I get a complete example set I'll post it but probably not this weekend as it's already looking pretty jammed up :/
86  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Expansion effects on regular play on: 2006 December 01, 02:25:08
Hi Smiley

I just wanted to say thanks for the suggestions about harderjobs & Squinge's extra lifetime wants. I've installed harderjobs & it's much, much better! I hated it when they came home from wotk the first day with $20,000 because of the bonuses - it took the challenge of "starting out' out of the game. Now they have to suffer Smiley YAY!

Haven't got the LTW wants installed yet, but I'll be doing that too.

Thanks!
87  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: afarch_Hilary.package (topic was "Random Duffs?") on: 2006 November 29, 22:11:56
Hi Theo,

I've been trying to figure out why they show up in BodyShop but not in CAS. The only thing I can think of is that BosyShop includes (scans) the Downloads folder while CAS does not. It's the only thing that makes any sense to me.

I'm wondering if placing the new packages into the Program Files folders might work, although I doubt it - I think CAS is simply scanning a predefined list of files to access. If that is the case, then there should be a file somewhere with a text list of files that it accesses unless it is included in the exe :/

I also think the game just uses the LOD resources automatically depending on your graphics card/settings.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to investigate this further shortly! Thanks for doing the sample file!

Edited: Ok - I am fairly certain that CAS is only using the templates that are listed in the Program File\EA Games\The Sims2\Res\Sims 3D\CASface.package. To add the new face templates to CAS i think we'd have to replace this game file with a modified version or maybe place a modified version into the Downloads folder like Jordi's Live.package. BodyShop is obviously scanning the Downloads folder for additions but CAS is only looking for the CASface file.

Updated info: I've been fiddling around with the Jeanette packages today to see if I could construct a package with just the face stuff in it & for it to use the standard EA face textures. The reason being, so that new face templates are smaller - no texture files. It seems to be working fine Smiley I need to test it to see if it will pick up the zombie overlay as I added that into the package, as well. I still have not got it to show up in CAS yet - but i'll keep plgging away. Toorrow I'll see if I can add the other ages to Jeannette.
88  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Expansion effects on regular play on: 2006 November 28, 07:43:50
Hi Smiley

I understand that CAS sims you introduce to the game as Adults can't get Uni jobs, but, surely they could have coded the game to check for this. Any sim born in the game has the opportunity to persue a Uni LTW or not. The LTW is determined when the sim transitions to teen, so there is ample opportunity to send that sim to Uni if that's what their LTW is or not just as you can choose to start a business or not or do the 20 pets or not. Players may not be interested in persuing it but it should have been an option.

The only problem is for the CAS introduced adults & honestly, they could have coded the game to check for this.

I'm not sure I understand you point about the pre-Uni adults. Their LTWs were already set & adults can't go to Uni so i don't see how that affects anything. How would having the Orb available sooner have made any difference? Sorry, maybe I'm just being dense atm.
89  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation (pre-Pets only!) on: 2006 November 25, 00:56:21
I've just managed to get a clean neighborhood with Pets installed - no chanracter files whatsoever. It's a combination of doing what Jordi, Kevin & Pescado said.

1) Downoad the empty templates & follow the directions
2) Do Jordi's Planning stange & rename the N001 template files
3) Download Numenor's Base Game tool
4) Start the Base game tool & create a dummy neighborhood - this will be N001 under the "The Sims 2 - NL" or whatever name it comes up with when you picked your Base Game options
5) You need to know how what the correct next number a custom neighborhood will have in your Sims game, in mine it was N005, so I had to create another dummy neighborhood in the base game tool & then finally the Neighborhood I wanted - so three in all, 1 for Pleasantville, one for N004 which I already have & then finally N005 - my new neighborhood.
6) Ok then just exit from the Base game tool, and copy the N005 neighborhood from it's folder into your proper Sims2 folder under My documnets
7) Start TS2 & choose the new neighborhood. It will generate the pets.
Cool Exit the game, go to your N005 folder & delete all of the folders & files except the N005_Suburb001.package
9) Copy the N005 subfolders & the N005_Neighborhood.package & N005_Neighborhood.png from the Base Game tool folder to your normal Sims2 folder.
10) Now start TS2 & add whatever districts you want. ** the empty templates do not work with the Base game tool, you have to add the districts to the actual game, but the empty templates work perfectly.

Then start creating sims per Jordi's instructions.

90  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Expansion effects on regular play on: 2006 November 24, 22:01:56
Personally, I think Uni ruined the game. Perm Plat takes away the need to satisfy wants. The part I think I dislike most about Uni is that a graduate can "harvest" the career rewards. In the base game you actually had to work for them.

I'd rather see graduates only get high level entrance into their degree field, everything else they start off normal. The LTW for Perm Plat are ridiulously easy with graduates - there should perhaps be a two tiered system, one for people who don;t go to Uni & one for the grads - or - maybe I should just uninstall Uni, but then I'd lose a lot of content.

I dislike the fact that the new careers are not addressed as LTWs & EA lying about why they didn't implement it. Supposedly they didn't want to force people to go to college, but, now there are new Pet & Business related LTWs? What about the people who don't want to start 5 businesses? or have 20+ pets? They are being "forced" to complete those goals.
91  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: 327,670 Aspiration Points on: 2006 November 23, 22:54:17
Ah, I see. It's not that I need more than those points - LOL - I hardly ever use them. It's just that once they reach that limit anything else they earn just disappears. I really only wanted to be able to tell how many they earn over their lifetime. I'll think of something - maybe just buying a bunch of elixirs - to keep track of the amount.

Thanks for the explanation.
92  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / 327,670 Aspiration Points on: 2006 November 23, 09:57:45
Hi Smiley

I'm wondering if there's any way to fix this problem. I'm guessing Maxis never thought people could accumulate that many aspiration points, so they've imposed this limit on them. But i'm finding that my sims are all reaching this level long before they die & I'd really like to know just how many points they were actually able to score.

The only thing I use points for are smart milk & thinking caps, so i don;t spend a lot of them to start with, but, it's kind of discouraging to think that the points they should be accumulating are actually just disappearing into some black hole.

So, is there a way to increase the limit?
93  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: afarch_Hilary.package (topic was "Random Duffs?") on: 2006 November 22, 04:49:06
I had a quick look at Hillary & Jannette last night. It's very strange that the new faces are added as templates in BodyShop but not in CAS. I have not been able to figure out why that is happening.

So, apparently we can add new templates but they would only be available through Body Shop. I'll see if i can figure out exactly what files are required to make a new template over the weekend.
94  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: More Maxis "Morality" on: 2006 November 22, 04:41:11
Here are the default wedding outfits - it's just a tiny file. Unzip it to your downloads folder.
95  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Looking for a hack on: 2006 November 20, 08:56:14
LOL

I guess it depends on how many kids you've got getting off the bus whether it's a problem or not Smiley Figure 2 sets of twins & their friends & it takes a long time for everyone to exit the bus, especially if the Mom's helicopter is also there because then they all stand there & complain about the noise after looking at the report card :/
96  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: afarch_Hilary.package (topic was "Random Duffs?") on: 2006 November 20, 08:52:25
This also happens if you install Jeannette Biederman - there is a new face template added. I was looking into how this worked quite some time ago & then due to my huband's illness I got away from simming & modding. I've just recently picked up Pets & have started playing again, so I suspect I'll get back into modding shortly Smiley

Anyway, I am certain there is a way to add extra face templates because it was done with Jeannette & now you are saying that Dufff also adds one. It's just a matter of figuring out what needs to be done. I'll grab the hillary Duff package 7 take a look at that, too.
97  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims can't move in since installing pets on: 2006 November 06, 08:18:12
I had that problem at my Greek House with only 6 sims & obviously no pets. I pledged a new person but could not move them in due to the nonexistant, pregnant pet.

The only work around I found was getting Squinge's mod for allowing more family & pet members to the family. Installed it & was then allowed to move in the pledge.

99  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: possable use for the vamp overlay? on: 2006 May 26, 10:43:00
Jorenne,

How does the overlay work for you - what I mean is, are you choosing it as a custom skin color, or do they have a regular color & then you put the overlay on them? If you are putting the overlay on a regular colored skin - how are you doing that? Where does it show up so you can choose it?

It would definitely be possible to create tattoos as custon skin "colors" but I don't think that is what most of you are loking for. As for making them accessories, that is also possible but then you have to deal with them sowing up over top of the clothes not being covered by the clothes.

Ideally, having the tattoos as an overlay would be the best solution because they'd have their normal skin, then the tatoo & then the clothes. I'll have a look into this over the weekend & see if I can figure something out.
100  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: possable use for the vamp overlay? on: 2006 May 25, 23:37:05
There isn't an easy way to do this because it's not treated like a regular skin. The overlay is toggled by a specific BHAV that either turns the flag on or off - i'm not positive, but I think it depends on whether the sim has the Vampire Token or not. i think that's what is controlling the on/off thing.

I'ts probably possible for one of the modders to make something similar that would work for tattoos - I don't know. I haven;t done a lot of modding, mostly just the food stuff, but I'll have a look. No promises through!
