51  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Seasons & lot corruption on: 2007 March 27, 11:51:18
Hi Smiley

I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem. I've never had lot corruption problems in the past, but in the last week I've had 3 lots go bad.

These lots started crawiling along - all sims asleep & it took over 5 minutes of real time to "speed" through the night - ultra speed was slower than regular slow. Slow speed produces really choppy actions.  I turned all of the graphics stuff down to minimum, turned off bump mapping & shaders. I used the debugger & forced erors on everything on the lot. I tried everything I could think of. I even removed the downloads folder & tested - this didn't make any difference.

The lots ran fine through spring & summer - this weirdness started with the fall season. I had added a few birch trees as well as the orchard trees & garden plots in the spring, otherwise no other plants. I use a lot of mods mostly from here but very little in the way of custom content for hair, clothing, etc. The houses are not overly large although they are on 5x5 lots. Moved one family out, rebuilt their home on a new lot & it's now running fine - so, the problem must be with the actual lot. Other lots run fine (good speed)

The only things I can think of that could be causing this slowness are the orchard & garden plants or the falling leaves from the birch trees. I deleted the birch trees but not the orchard & gardens. I have cancelled out water ballooons & catch several times but I would imagine that if those items did not delete properly they'd just be like the stuck kicky bags & not cause the slowness problem.

I played with debug on & didn't get any errors. I haven't done anything stupid - this was a new custom neighborhood, no additional sims introduced, no other houses, no deleted characters - I haven't even had anyone die yet, so no ghosts. I just have the base neighborhood & SimState attached. There are a total of 24 sims in my neighborhood - 6 residential lots & 1 community lot & just the standard SimState. I have 723,000 MB available to play the game (from the log file) which should be more than enough. My video card is only a GeForceFX 5200 with 256 ram, but this isn't the problem as some lots run just fine even if i have the graphics turned up.

Maybe I just planted too many trees & plants? I have 9 orchard trees & 12 garden plants. I don't know - anyone have any ideas or experiencing anything like this?
52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: LTW's on: 2007 March 26, 22:49:39
leiela,

Try the additional LTWs that Squinge enabled http://www.insimenator.net/showthread.php?t=39837 These are just the 4 (Artist, Show Biz, Natural Science, & Paranormal ) that EA never enabled
53  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Seasons: What mods are you already begging for? on: 2007 March 21, 04:01:22
snowyrat,

Squinge has a painting that keeps tract of how many best freinds, money, dates, whoohoos, etc at:

http://www.insimenator.net/showthread.php?t=7139

It seems to me that you could just click the painting to get their initial starting amount & then when the are ready to leave check it again & whatever the difference s, is what they actually made.
54  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Gender Confusion on: 2007 March 20, 22:51:24
I did a write up on how to do all of the steps necessary to make it really work over at the SimPe forum http://www.ambertation.de/simpeforum

but the site is down right now. Once it's back up search for gender under a posting by me & you should find it.

Hi Smiley

Thanks for doing this.

The only other one I found was the Chef group 0x7F2D4127. He only has the 35 lines like the Streaker. All of the other templates have aditional lnes added from 36 through 39 depending on which template it is.

I am happy to report it's working now Smiley
56  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Seasons NPC Slot Fixes on: 2007 March 20, 07:14:17
Hi Smiley

Ok - maybe I'm not doing something correctly. I just placed the mod in my downloads folder, but, on further reflection & the fact that he's still locking up with the same error, I thought that maybe I need to replace the slot in his character file with the one you supplied. Would this be correct?

The other thing I noticed in trying to figue this out is that the group 0x7F30D7A7 is for the barista template but he's actually streaker which is group 0x7F811304.

I thought that I'd need to replace his solt in the character file because he's an already existing character but I'm not sure. I would think that fixing the template would generate correct slots for new NPCs but the existing ones would need to be manually modified? Is this right?

Looking through the other NPC templates slot files - it looks like about half of them were not updated - the main difference being in column 14.
57  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Warmth Fix Mod on: 2007 March 19, 20:56:18
Thanks - I'll use the debugger to check the temp.

I didn't realize the coffee maker made that much coffee. LOL - I've never used the coffee maker, I just go for the espresso Smiley

I was just surprised that there seemed to be so much hot chocolate. I was only expecting a few cups & I wasn't prepared for the energy boost either - great for the kids but not so good just before bed time.
58  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Warmth Fix Mod on: 2007 March 19, 07:44:21
Hi Smiley

Before I added the warmth mod I was sending my sims outside to paint in the Spring. They got rained on & hit by lightening but never got cold. Now, however, they are getting cold. Not sure if this was intentional on your part, but I thought I'd let you know.

Also, does anyone know - is the hot chocolate maker supposed to be endless? I've only had to make hot chocolate once & so far they've gone through about 10 cups - just seems strange to me.
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Rink capacity question on: 2007 March 13, 09:37:19
Hmm, I only have Nvidia 5700FX & 1GB ram & I play the largest lots all the time. If I play with the higestest settings on all options then I get a little bit of choppiness, so i generally use medium textures/sim detail & my game runs fine. You should be able to play larger lots than 2x2!
60  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maternity outfit borkenness on: 2007 March 11, 00:54:36
Hi Ness,

Can you tell me which picture it is?

http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=126724

I can't figure out what outfit you mean & although I have looked at the packages this morning I don;t see anything in there that could be doing what you described. It's good that the problem appears to be corrected  - but -  want to make sure it's not something I did.
61  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maternity outfit borkenness on: 2007 March 10, 03:16:09
Hi Ness,

I'll have a look at the replacements tomorrow, but I really don't see how it could be affecting the hair - all I did was change the textures. Was it the same outfit both times? If so, which one? I've seen other reports of hair style changes (like with the maid) so I'm thinking it's some coding thing with the new way hair styles are being handled, but.... i will have a look 7 see what I can see.
62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? on: 2007 March 06, 19:59:43
My Romance sim got struck & no memory & he had a fear of it at the time so he lost 3500 points. lOL - not tha it makes any difference cause he has so many anyway. But, there is no memory of it. All that happened to him is he got the scorched skin & hair, depleted needs.

I guess I have to move my easels indoors. I was looking around but didn;t fnd any solution - is there a way to make enclosed decks? or at least with a roof over them? I alwasy use the back decks for painting & chess but ..... I've never needed a roof before Smiley
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Serving Platter Madness on: 2007 February 27, 21:36:35
Sorry, I didn't word that very well. I have gotten the call to mael option, but only after they actually start to serve the food. Cancelling the option at that point causes them to dump the platter on the floor.

What I'd like to be able to do is cancel the serve option just as they are taking the platter from the stove, this used to make them put the platter on the counter. Then they could either grab a plate or call to meal, but this dosn't work anymore. I just really get annoyed when they put the food on the floor. I don't want them serving meals unless i want them to, like when the Head Master comes or if there are guests, but for everyday sim life I just prefer to have the platter on the counter & they grab a plate if they need it.
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Serving Platter Madness on: 2007 February 24, 15:09:55
I really preferred how serving was handled in just the base game. If you cancelled the action as soon as they got the stuff from the stove the sim would just drop it on the counter next to the stove. Now, even if you do that a sim still actually has to perform the serve operation before other sims can take a plate, there isn't a Call to Meal option - at least I haven't ever got it. But, what really drives me the most crazy it if you cancel after they have served 1 plate they dump the platter on the floor!

I tried the decorations on the table but it doesn't work that well in my greek house. I use the tables for homework as well as eating & if there's stuff on the table they won't do homework there.

I'd love to see something that would let them just put the platter on the counter.
65  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hack Request - Uni Pledge Tracker on: 2007 February 15, 16:55:56
I remember asking for something like this a couple of years ago. Then I started writing down who got pledged. With 6 to 8 Greek house members & each having 20 or so YA friends - it's next to impossible to remember who you actually invited to pledge unless you have written it down.

I have never resorted to locking them in a room, but that is an idea. Kinda defeats the purpose of getting them to pledge, though. I generally get them to do a paper, then send them away & reinvite them so they are refreshed & ready to start over Smiley Sometimes they just bugger off on their own, too.

I would love to see something that could give a list of current pledges & how much time they have left to become a member.

Hmmm.....I'm going to try again then!
67  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Title Claim on: 2007 February 13, 14:40:35
I'm curious about what happens to the money that was donated to the account that can't be accessed. Does PayPal just end up with my money?

It costs $25 to follow through on the claim process which is what I donated so there's not much point in disputing. Will JM ever be able to retreive those donations?

The files aren't that big so i'll just load them here.

69  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Empty fridge dialogue when attempting to make holiday roast on: 2006 December 30, 23:59:38
Thanks Smiley

Yes, it works with Pets & I've never had the restock fridge dialog come up when trying to cook the roast. I do have 2jeffs fridge waring mod installed but i don't have other custom foods - other than the ones Squinge or I did.

I just got so sick of having to have that stupid cornucopia in every house! I don't know why they did it like that to start with.... but then, since when has anything sims related ever made any sense?

I'd try taking out custom foods & see if that clears up the problem.

Thanks, Ness.

I was doing some other work today where I needed the full path & of course, WinZip remembered that :/
71  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone got unlocked/categorized maxis athletic wear? on: 2006 December 21, 01:58:29
Ok - here are the career athletic outfits. These are set up as athletic only & won't interfer with the actual career outfits.
72  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone got unlocked/categorized maxis athletic wear? on: 2006 December 20, 02:30:09
I've got all the property sets, thanks Smiley

I originally made the file for myself because i wanted them out of eveyday & into athletic, so it wasn't a problem sharing & I'll gladly share the career athletic ones, too.

The problem is I don't want them in everyday. If I unlock hem (unhide) them, then the townies do have access to them & I don't want townies to have access to these as everyday outfits. I know - I'm really picky. I don't think it's going to be any huge problem - I just need some time to see what has changed & work around that Smiley My fun time has been very limited these past few months but I'm slowly getting back more & more of it! YAY!!
73  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone got unlocked/categorized maxis athletic wear? on: 2006 December 19, 08:51:54
Hi Ness,

No, it doesn't have the career athletic outfits. I tried adding them, but I had a problem with them being displayed & because they are career outfits they have to go into Everyday wear. Personally I don;t want them as Everyday, so I didn;t include them & the file i loaded was just my personal file.

Hopefuly i'll have the career outfits figured out this weekend. i need to make a new package for them so theycan remain Everyday for the careers & stay hidden, but also be available as athletic under a different number. I know i can easily do this by making full packages out of them, but that's not what i want. I want to keep them as tiny as possible. I'll post them once i have it figured out. EA changed something in how the Property Sets work in Pets.

75  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: something about dining out on: 2006 December 13, 02:17:14
jsalemi,

What a great tip! I never though to do this.

I hate that they "serve' the food. If you cancel the action they put the damn plate on the floor & if you cancel before they 'serve' they plop it on the counter but the "grab a plate" option does not appear. I know this was different in the base game - I wish they hadn;t changed it.

I am going to try your fix right now Smiley
