26  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Living expensive on: 2007 June 28, 04:18:42
This is a global mod - so it should affect everything Smiley It just takes whatever the game normally calculates for the bills & multiplies it by either 3 or 5, although it does significantly change how the dorm billing works. I was finding that afte a generation in the same dorm, there wouldn;t be any bills because the furniture was depreciated & how the game calculates the dorm billing. It is based on the lot value being nothing (a dorm lot), plus the value (depreciated) of the objects divided by the number of Myne doors on the lot! What I did was change it so it counts playable sims & just bills them each $300 - seems more realistic to me.

The rest of it just lets the game calculate the normal bills, then multiplies that amount by 3 or 5 - or you can change it - however - it is global, so it will affect all lots - even the rental & frat lots.

I'll look into the fridge & see about that. The other stuff - probably not so easy Smiley

Here's a tiny file that enables the 3 "missing" sets - unzip to downloads or saved sims.

I've updated my increased dorm billing mod to include increased bills if anyone is intereseted, you can find it at http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,8312.0.html

It increases the overall billing times 3 or 5 as well as actual bills at the dorms.

That would be me Smiley

I did it back in Dec 2005/Jan 2006 - but it's just for the females. Shortly after that is when my husband got sick & I was absent for quite some time.

I'm working on some new maternity outfits now.

Hmmm,

That's not happening to me. Let me have a look tonight though.

Edited:

Ok - I found the problem. I had a no-server mod installed which prevented what happened to you from happening to me. Anyway - sorry! I have fixed it up & tested without the no-serve mod & all is well. But let me know if you run into any problems.

I'm busy updating - so the ribs, hotdogs, chili, macncheese aren't quite ready yet. But, soon Smiley

I've also finished up the 4 restaraunt meals - Squinge did them quite some time ago but they were missing all of the prep animations. I fnally had some time to dig into it & have figured out foods! Yay - in any event I've managed to add in new prep animations for those foods - not the standard lobster pep that you get if you use OW, but appropriate prep for the type of food that it is. I'm not sure if it's allowed to post them here as they are larger files - not like the tiny one BHAV mods.

Oh & some new stuff I made - single pizza slice from the fridge into the microwaved, they eat it with their hands & all the anims are correct. This was a huge job because that sequence doesn't exist in the game. Doing it took forever, but it's what got me to fgure out foods. LOL i can actually understand what's going on with them.  I also did a normal sized muffin that gets microwaved.

I used to own a restaraunt (in real life) so the food part really interests me.

Ste,

Yes - delete those old ones. I figued out a better way to do the food mods - smaller, less resources Smiley Squinge has the new ones but hasn't posted them yet.

I dunno but people have wanted this feature for ages.

Have a look at

http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,8586.0.html

It's my mod for Make/Make Many single desserts - they still have to prepare them, but the single servings go directly into the inventory. Gelatin is extremely fast because there's no prep or cooking involved.
36  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Make/Make Many Single Desserts *Updated June 8th* on: 2007 June 02, 11:13:56
Here's my mod for single desserts.

This lets you Make/Make many singles. They automatically go into the inventory. Included are Baked Alaska, Berry Pie, Cheesecake, Crepes, Gelatin, Layer Cake & Santa Cookies - I think that's all of them, but let me kow if i missed any.

They make single gelatin VERY fast!

The Faster package decreases the prep & cook times as well as makes the cost the same as if they had produced the group dessert - if the group dessert costs $24 then the single serviing now costs $4

Updated Jun 8, 2007

There was an error with the gelatin that I missed - download the new version. Please make sure you delete the previous packages especially the gelatin.package. Also, for those of you who had my old versions from a year ago - delete the Menu - Add Have a Dessert as it's no longer needed & may cause a problem. Delete any old versions of the single desserts as well. Everything has been updated - smaller & better Smiley

Thanks!

37  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: The Compressorizer! Mass DBPF Compressing Program on: 2007 May 28, 11:22:23
I guess I am just unlucky. I downloaded Beta3, spent several hours compressing stuff, folder by folder. Then started up my game. But, it wouldn't start, it wouldn't get past the blue screen. I ended up having to replace My documents folder with the backup copy :/ And yes, I did delete groups.cache before I tried to start the game.

I'll give it another try later in the week.
38  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Harvestable orchard trees when in a greenhouse on: 2007 May 25, 20:34:18
Thanks Smiley

It was driving me crazy, too. It just seemed reasonable to me that if they are enclosed then they should produce.

I'd really like to figure out how to make the greenhouse doors go down like the walls do, but I'm starting to think it can't be done. Those doors are based on fence gates :/
39  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Harvestable orchard trees when in a greenhouse on: 2007 May 21, 22:04:21
Hi Smiley

This allows you to harvest orchard trees in the winter provided that they are in a greenhouse, otherwise they go dormant as usual.

I have tested this. it works for me, but, please report any problems if you have any.

40  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Help...question about some sims I want to clone on: 2007 May 18, 21:37:27
Mordant - the method i described just changes their appearance. You would have to go into SimPe & change the DNA - i guess the recessive part because you'd obviously be setting the physical part n CAS.

Sorry - perhaps I misunderstood. I thought the problem was that skandelouslala could not "see" the old neighborhood. If you can see it then sim Surgery is the way to go.
41  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Help...question about some sims I want to clone on: 2007 May 18, 02:24:46
Ok - basically you just want new sims that look like the original sims?

Make a new CAS sim - this should be as close to the original as you want it - same hair, eyes, skin color, aspiration, etc. The only thing you don't have to worry about is what it's face looks like. You can even give it the same name. Make it an adult. Make the second sim - if you want them married you can do it in CAS otherwise you can play it through in the game. Exit the game.

Start up SimPe then open the original sim's Character file. Find the line for the Facial Data, right click on it & extract it. Check to make sure you know which sim you are extracting by checking the sim's name or picture - I don't have SimPe open right now but I think it's the Catalog Description or just look at the JPG listing to see the picture.

Now, open up the new sim's Character File, select the Facial Data, right click on it & choose replace. Replace it with the one you just extracted. Save. The new sim's character File will be one of the two most recent files - again, check the sim's name or picture to make sure you have the right one.

In the game you might need to have the sim do the check Appearance in the mirror, then it should look exactly like the original sim.

I'm not positive but christianlove had a fridge that you could just pull completed meals out of. Plus I thiink Paladin has a food replicator that also does thiis.
43  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: no weeds at all? on: 2007 May 13, 22:53:51
Ah - so that's the culprit.

I also just figured out that something is preventing my sims from becoming Plantsims. I have been trying & trying & trying for ages & not once did I get one. Then investigating (I think it's Macrotastics) I discovered that it's set up to prevent this from happening.

I know I can just use the FFS debugger to do it but that takes all of the fun & surprise out of it.

Thanks Smiley

44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / no weeds at all? on: 2007 May 13, 11:55:15
Hi Smiley

I'm just checking to see if this is what is supposed to happen or if my lot is buggy.

I made a greenhouse & put in one ladybug thing. Set out 24 plots, composted them & planted 4 of each kind of vegi. Everything went fine - absolutely no bugs, very little talking but the weird thing is I never got any weeds at all through the whole season.  About the only thing I needed to do was water them.

Is this normal? I seem to remember weeds in a prior greenhouse, but, those sims didn't have gold badges & these sims do. I'm getting weeds on other lots that don't have a greenhouse (can't afford it yet).

Any thoughts? I want the weeds so the kids can buikld up gardening badges.

46  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: No more freeloading at the dorms on: 2007 May 08, 05:20:00
Yeah - I know. I'm going to change how the other stuff is calculated, too. It's just ridiculous how much money they come away from college with - even with the no 20K handouts. I think I'll change how it calculates the regular bills, too. Everything depreciates so fast that it becomes almost worthless right away & the bills are based on the depreciated amout, then they divide the total amout by 1000 & apply some further reductions to come up with the billed amount. Changing it to divide by 500 rather than 1000 would effectively double the bills.

The only time there's any monetary challenge is in the first few days on a home lot. I want it to cost more - I'm tired of getting hundreds of thousands without trying. Anythng that makes them pay more is good Smiley
47  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / No more freeloading at the dorms plus more expensive bills on: 2007 May 07, 21:10:54
Hi Smiley

This mod bills $300 for each playable sim in a dorm. If you have 8 playable sims in the dorm, then your bill is $2400, if you have 2 sims then it's $600, etc.

It has always bothered me that once a dorm is played through one generation the stuff is depreciated so much that there isn't a billable amount so the sims get to live there for free. I have 2 boys in college - nothing is free! Besides, sims get way too much money anyway.

This will conflict with Pescado's dormbillfix. The dormbillfix corrected a divide by zero problem when there weren't any Myne doors on the lots. This mod doesn't depend on counting the doors so that part is removed, therefore there isn't an opportunity to get the error.

You can change the amount that is being billed by changing the literal value in line 18 - in case you want to make it more or less.

You need University installed. I have everything, up to & including Seasons/Celebrations & it works great. It's been tested by me so I am not expecting any problems, but if you do run into anything please let me know. This should work with any expansion or combination from Uni on.

Morague

Added 27 jun 2007 - dorm billing plus more expensive bills.

Both of these maintain the $300 dorm billing but also inccrease other billing by either 3 or 5 times. I am using the x3 version in my game & it seems to be about the right amount, but I've included x5 for those who want even more :0 You can also change this amount by modifying the literal value in line 8 - whatever literal amount you put i there is what the normal bills will be multiplied by. This is a modification of Squinge's original "increased bills" with my dorm billing added in. Posted with permission.

You can have only one installed at a time & this will conflict with JM's dormbillfix - so you have to decide which one you want.

48  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Does temperature affect plants? on: 2007 April 30, 08:38:28
Well, maybe if they have gold badges it doesn't, but my Bronze badged Uni students just lost 8 out of the 12 plants they had over the winter. So, yes, weather does affect them.
49  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Warmth Fix Mod on: 2007 April 03, 02:16:20
Hi Smiley

I don;t know if this was mentioned anywhere else, but, I think it's a great solution to several problems i've been having.

In the past I've alwasy had my sims pain on the outside deck but with Seasons it's either too hot or too cold most of the time & I found I had to watch them closely (not to mention the lightening strikes). I was trying to think of a way to enclose the porch but still make it seem like a porch rather than a room. Last night it finally dawned on me - use the greenhouse walls, door & roof Smiley It works perfectly! The temp remains the same as if indoors but it's open & looks like an enclosed porch & it works on the foundation.

Then I thought - what about the hot tub? Ok, so I enclosed that too & it works great

The key to adding the greenhouse roof to the porch is to add it before you add any upper floor walls otherwise you can't place the roof. If the house already has an upper floor you need to delete the wall, place the greenhouse roof, then rebuild the upper walls.

Anyway, this is working perfectly & it looks pretty cool. i'm thinking of a conservatory next Smiley So basically if you want "indoor" spots outside, just enclose those areas with greenhouse parts.
50  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Seasons & lot corruption on: 2007 March 27, 22:10:01
Hi Smiley

Thanks for the feedback. I'm what I'd conside computer savy (no offense taken) - I've replaced motherboards & other components, know my way around in DOS from the old days & do regular maintenance. I empty the Trash bin evey day, defrag weekly. I've set up a static page file. I have ove 80 gigs free on my hard disk, my processor is 2.2, i have Direct x 9c with that video card & yes, i know I could use a more robust card but it does have 256k on it & does show bump maps if I enable it in the Graphics Rules.sgr file. I disconnect from the Internet to play & disable everything except Explorer. The lots play fine & with high detail settings except in the fall season. So I really don't think it's my system - if it was then I should have problems on all lots. I'm only having problems on the lots where I had placed birch trees (for the garden club inspection)

The problem does not go away if I simply delete the trees :/ I only had 2 birch tress, althought I had 9 orchard tress & 12 garden plants - no other ornamentals. I play pretty conservatively - I generally make smallish houses because I like to have 6 to 8 sims. I use a standard house for all my sims because it works for the way I play & I like the layout. 2 stories - main floor has 2 4x4 bedrooms, 2 2x3 baths, 1 4x4 ktchen, combined living room 4x10 with a 2x2 hall down the middle. Upstairs in just 2 4x4 bedrooms, 1 2x2 bath & a large room for the pool table & stereo. I always use exactly the same furniture in every lot - yeah - I am that boring!

Moving them off the lot into an identical house fixes the speed problem so it's not the sims. I'm wondering if the fallen leaves are not getting deleted properly. I don't have any problem with the 9 orchard trees & 12 garden plants all through Spriing & Summer. It's just in the fall once the leaves start falling that the lot starts to crawl so I'm pretty sure that's what it is. But deleting them does not solve the problem - in fact deleteing all of the orchard plants & tress didn't help either & I deleted the groups.cache too. It seems that once the slowness is in existance the lot is no longer operative :/ I haven't made it to a winter season yet so I don;t know if that fixes it - but - I doubt it will.
