Not much -- I deleted all but the front fences when I dropped this into a hood, and it only lowered the price by about 1k.

Perhaps I shouldn't have said "quite." Anyway, too much fencing just isn't a good thing. It makes the lot more likely to lag and is generally a waste of money, though I suppose it does look nice.
52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Fitness Surprise on: 2007 July 03, 15:36:14
Someone is channeling a little too much Pescado.

I'm pretty much all skin and bones too, Eleonora, though I do have some muscle. It's all very lean. I ended up having to use a custom mesh on my self-Sim to make him look decent.
53  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Fitness Surprise on: 2007 July 03, 13:05:25
Exactly. Pity that there's no "skinny" state though. I'd love to have the three body states from TS1, but with an additional fitness flag, so thin and fat sims can have muscles, too. They're not "fat" in the game, anyway. They're just voluptuous.

I know.  Sad I always found the fitness bar to be a bit one-dimensional, though. Perhaps in The Sims 3 they'll change it more into something like a circle, where a Sim would be pulled between thinness, fatness, and muscle. Certain activities will make you thinner or build muscle, while eating constantly will make a Sim fat. I really shouldn't get my hopes up, though.
54  TS2: Burnination / Building Contest of Awesomeness / Re: Ziggy's Doodle Haus on: 2007 July 03, 00:58:58
The settings on her monitor does not change what is capture when using print screen, but I'm guessing that because of the pictures' uniform sizes that they were captured in game, which may retain the monitor's settings, or just brighten the picture entirely. I haven't noticed this on my houses though.

I'm not convinced.
55  TS2: Burnination / Building Contest of Awesomeness / Re: Ziggy's Doodle Haus on: 2007 July 03, 00:22:53
Ziggy, did you use something to lighten the pictures of your house? It appears as if everything in your pictures is lighter than it should be.
56  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Factoids and Statistics on Skill Gaining on: 2007 July 02, 18:04:59
I thought it was always lazy Sims who learned logic faster.
57  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Trepie's Budget Awesomesauce on: 2007 July 02, 15:41:53
I think you would have gotten the price quite a bit lower if you only kept the front fencing, but oh well. I do like this lot.
58  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Organising Downloads on: 2007 June 27, 13:06:25
The last time I used it, I remember it being incredibly slow. Well, seeing as I only have about 2/15 as many downloads as I did have, I suppose that wouldn't be too much of a problem.
59  TS2: Burnination / Building Contest of Awesomeness / Re: Flamingo Crams 9 Sims onto a 2x2 Lot on: 2007 June 27, 12:21:12
I used the long table because I've used one before. I typically do it just for effect, like during parties and such, but I normally have my Sim serve food and not everyone will be hungry enough to eat. Those that aren't hungry can sit down anyway, as most of the guests will be eating, and it would be a decent way to socialize.

It isn't absolutely necessary to have such a large table, but if everyone had to use it at once, at least you'd have it.
60  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Viviana: Girl or Boy? Wha? on: 2007 June 24, 20:02:14
I agree.  I wish that some of my sims had gender confusion or a desire to cross dress.  It would make my hood more interesting and diverse.  Would it be a VBT to attempt this manually by changing the "treat as" to female for a male in SimPE?

It wouldn't be too bad, I don't think. You would end up with a Sim similar to what Tyraa described. I could imagine some problems with determining gender preference when a Sim flirts with the cross dresser, though that is probably controlled by one of the property sets.
61  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Viviana: Girl or Boy? Wha? on: 2007 June 24, 18:51:35
Oh, and yes, this problem is very fixable, I forgot to add. I think all you have to do to change or solidify their gender is to change that "Treat as:" section to the appropriate gender. You have to change their property sets (located in their character file) to the right gender as well.

Under plugin view, there should be something that says gender. All you have to do is change this value by putting 0x00000001 for women, or 0x00000002 for men.

When you go into the game, you may have to change what they look like in the mirror if you aged them up while they were a teen or older (I think).

Also, it might be along the lines of what Pes said.  Theres a big possibility that it might be corrupted data and the only fix I ever really know of would be to reformat the whole hard drive, but that would be a last resort course of action since your gonna lose EVERY bit of data on your computer to rewrite every cluster.

That also means that it is going to be shiny and new again, of course.
63  TS2: Burnination / Building Contest of Awesomeness / Re: Flamingo Crams 9 Sims onto a 2x2 Lot on: 2007 June 24, 17:35:14
Interesting layout, but The One Desk could easily be downstairs in the hall, thereby closer to the school bus stop/garage, and therefore closer to awesomespec, I believe.

Yeah, I forgot about The One Desk, unfortunately. Thankfully, they won't have any desire to put stuff on it, seeing as it is covered.

My new version has an open desk for Sims to do whatever they want with closer to the entrance.

Is there really such a thing as this?

Yes, I only used the autoroof tool to put a roof on the building. Tongue

Do sims prepare meals on the counter over the dishwasher in the dining room, then return to the kitchen to cook?

No, actually. They use the food processor in the kitchen, cook it on the stove, and serve in the dining room. At least, they should.
Okay! I've been playing too much of TS1. Yes, they prepare meals in the dining room.

Does the cheat-placed garage function properly, meaning the garage door opens when it should, and car does not teleport?  If it does work, how was it done?

The garage door functions, but the car won't be showing any animations. I actually prefer it this way, seeing as it saves time.

Nice job containing the cost.

Thanks. I actually like the cost the most.
64  TS2: Burnination / Building Contest of Awesomeness / Flamingo Crams 9 Sims onto a 2x2 Lot on: 2007 June 24, 15:03:13
Yes, just as the title says, this house was built on a 2x2 lot and can house up to nine Sims. Not only that, but each person/couple should get their own bedroom, except in the unlikely event that you get twins. Even then, the cribs are in seperate rooms.

This house was built as closely to Awesomespec spec as possible with the size restrictions. It should provide decent protection in the event of a bugulary and fire. The main upstairs room, the dining room, and the main hallway should all be shown to the headmaster. Food serving has been optimized so that serving platter is placed where Sims will have easy access to it, the dining room. There is a way to increase every skill. Driveway is indoors. Extra attic space for storage. The house can easily be expanded upward, and the replacement of roofs can be done with autoroofing without harming aesthetic quality. The lot is protected by an barrier, not that the dogs would be able to dig anyway. Macro Caffeinating is done painlessly quick.

Five Bedrooms.
Four Bathrooms.
One Nursery.
One Greenhouse.
2x2 Lot.
All yours for under $80,000! ($79,950)

Pictures are pretty much for layout and don't particularly showcase my designing. Viewing in-game may provide a better idea of its aesthetics.

Bribe: I will edit ten pictures or create five textures of whatever you want me to. I will do any combination, as long as it adds up to ten, where editing a picture is worth one and creating a texture is worth two (three textures, four pictures, etc.).

Edit: Forgot the bribe. Decreased lot cost. Added more functional awesomeness. Lowered download size.

Note: WinRAR will unzip .7z format.
65  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims disappearing one by one on: 2007 June 24, 13:11:47
I figured out the missing sims ID numbers by doing that, but I don't think that does me any good. Does it? There are more missing sims than I realized - I think even some townies and dormies have vanished. I'm inclined to think there is some kind of catastrophic hard drive problem, but I haven't noticed any other kinds of files going missing! I did do a disk scan, nothing seems to have changed. It's not even my computer, it's my partner's. I'm getting a new laptop in a few days, so I guess I'll just use that one and get away from the computer of doom.

My last backup is a generation ago; I think I'd rather just start over than do all that again.

Well, if you did find the number of their character files, you could try opening the character file directly, though I don't think there is much you can do even then. You could get their facial structure out of that, but I wouldn't have any idea of how to go about replacing that.  If their Sim Description file is lost, they are pretty much gone forever, unfortunately. The ones that are still there are salvageable enough, and you're probably going to need to start over, so I'd recommend using some of your favorite Sims as the founders of your new neighborhood.
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Viviana: Girl or Boy? Wha? on: 2007 June 24, 03:40:52
Yeah, I was going to say that it sounded like one of my failed attempts to change a Sim's gender. If it isn't done completely, you will end up with Sims that are a bit.. in between.
67  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Phantom File in Downloads Folder? on: 2007 June 24, 01:10:04
Hmm. What happens when you open the file? I'm guessing you'll be asked what type of program you'd like to view it in. If so, view it with Notepad. If there is nothing there, just type anything and save the file. If there is something there, go to Edit - Select All and delete everything. Then type something and save.

I don't know that this will do much of anything, but it can't possibly break the files any more than they are. I don't even know that you'd be able to open the file.

Disclaimer: I have not experienced this problem and have no idea what I am talking about.
68  TS2: Burnination / Building Contest of Awesomeness / Re: Tawanda takes a shot! on: 2007 June 23, 13:25:56
Egads, I hope you don't win! Purely for the sake of my eyes, mind you. 'Tis an awesome house, indeed.

*NVA stocks up on eyebleach, just in case the blackmail commences

You mean that you hope she does win? I think her bribe is that she won't post pictures if she wins. Tongue
69  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: The Crittur and Roseland families are so wonderfully interesting... on: 2007 June 23, 13:18:22
I would move them in together and see what happens. Well, maybe not. Anything coming from Maxis premade families is pretty buggy, so I'd just avoid them all the same.

You can use the Lot Debugger to delete the families, if you wish.
70  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims disappearing one by one on: 2007 June 23, 13:12:46
I've only had that happen when I use the lot debugger to delete Sims.

If you have SimPE, I would go look for traces of the missing Sims in the Neighborhood Browser. Look for their Sim Description. If these Sims are showing up and disappearing in game, maybe you could find one of their files, because their files probably wouldn't be randomly disappearing and reappearing. If the files are, your game is probably the least of your worries.

Anyway, you could try extracting what they look like using Sim Surgery, but I don't know of anything else you could do.

I love how every motive decayed except for social and environment. Is it only a one-time effect, or do the user's motives gradually decreases from sitting on it?
72  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Good Gawd... on: 2007 June 21, 01:20:04
Paysites owners should all make oustanding content, but we all know that doesn't happen. Just look at Pandora. They hardly even make content, and anything that they do make is far from good.
73  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: H&M fashions on: 2007 June 18, 16:07:39

I can try making an invisible recolor of a mirror if you want, but I am not making any guarantees that the actual reflective part will be invisible.
74  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Good Gawd... on: 2007 June 17, 03:10:59
Yeah. I don't know how to do it the old fashioned way. I could learn, but that would take effort. I didn't even glance at the directions. Just play with it.

I've tried to use Theo's plug-in before many times, and have managed to fail spectacularly each time, somehow. Things have either ended up in the wrong color, or just not working at all.

Doing it manually is very easy, and you only have to change a few values.
