26  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Invisible Magisplay Tray (w/o OFB?) on: 2007 July 28, 23:23:40
I was thinking that you would have to do that, not that I would have any idea how to. What did he tell you to edit in order to make that happen?
27  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Invisible Magisplay Tray (w/o OFB?) on: 2007 July 28, 00:57:34
I'm afraid they don't work. Bleh. Perhaps someone more awesome would be able to figure out just how to make it so Sims can be placed on a surface. All I can really do until then is make the surfaces invisible.
28  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Invisible Magisplay Tray (w/o OFB?) on: 2007 July 27, 21:40:31
Haha, well, I tried my hand at altering the magisplay tray, but I wasn't awesome enough. I'm actually surprised I did as well as I did.

Anyway, are Sims placeable on those? If so, I could recolor them easily. Right now MTS2 is being a little annoying about downloading.
29  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Invisible Magisplay Tray (w/o OFB?) on: 2007 July 27, 19:38:06
Hmm. If you want, I'd be willing to try to clone a base game object, attach the mesh and other associated crap that came with the magisplay tray, and see if that'd work.

If you are able to find an object similar to that, turning it invisible would be fairly easy.
30  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Ford Focus for Download at Official Site on: 2007 July 27, 16:41:51
I never use an installer for Maxis-made downloads because they don't seem to work properly with the self-extracting files.  I just double-click on the icon of the downloaded item.  A window pops up with a description of the item and asks if you want to install it.  Click yes, and it's done.

I did. Normally they go to the downloads folder, yes? Well, they aren't. Unless they are in the teleport folder, which would be a little weird.
31  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Ford Focus for Download at Official Site on: 2007 July 27, 16:20:42
Am I the only one who can't seem to get this car into their downloads folder? I downloaded it multiple times, and the package installer and clean installer can't seem to do the job.
32  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Regarding Custom Default Eyes on: 2007 July 24, 02:41:10
Hmm. Try letting the game regenerate the "The Sims 2" folder, I suppose. Back up your stuff first. Try putting your new defaults in a new downloads folder. See if it works then, and if so, try putting your folders back in one by one.

The same thing happened to me, missangelica.

There's also the flamingo that can be turned into an entertainer. Tongue

Ooh I remember the strippers and the mimes and Drew Carey. Good times indeed.

By the way which expansion pack added that creepy clown that barged into your house if you had that scary clown painting?

Livin' Large, I believe.

Bahahaha, you mean apples, of course?

Only if they gave us Makin Magic. I figured it was because of Harry Potter being so popular that we got the first one. I would enjoy the hell out of Makin Magic in Sims2. Little curious what they would put in it though. The old one had the gardening but we have that already so they would have to replace it with something just as big a draw.

Yeah, most gardening things came with unleashed. They had the grape vines, but I think that was about it. I wouldn't mind a more interactive way of baking, like they had.
38  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Best of the Best (CC sites that is) on: 2007 July 15, 17:45:38
Yeah, with Firefox and Opera, you can back up bookmarks pretty easily. All it involves is making copies of your current bookmarks file. Firefox will do it automatically.

Go to Documents and Settings>User>Mozilla>Firefox>Profiles>ppgk8s0b.default. This should contain your bookmarks that are currently in use. Your equivalent of my ppgk8s0b.default folder may be named something different, but I am unsure. The folder for your backups should also be located in this folder.

Alternately, for Opera, clicking the help menu and going to "About Opera" will show you the path for your bookmarks.

41  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: More realistic/difficult relationships? on: 2007 July 06, 20:20:09
I've slept with several a few people that I've had little to nothing in common with.  Maybe even a couple that I"ve actually hated, or ended up hating.  Tongue

I've had that happen before too.  Lips sealed

with maybe a bit randomness thrown in there since sometimes there are moments where a person can wear you down, or something happens that bumps you over that edge.

I have to say that people are typically pushed over the edge when things become a bit too much. I would think that it would relate more to aspiration, rather than just being completely random. There are some people that just rub you the wrong way for whatever reason, so I think that there should be some randomness, but just not when it has to do with rejection.
42  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: More realistic/difficult relationships? on: 2007 July 06, 16:50:41
I bet you didn't actually have -nothing- in common with them - I mean, you both dislike terrorists, right? Take a look at every skill stat, personality stat, aspiration and like/dislike in the Sims, and I'll bet you'd find something, even in that limited approximation of human personality.

Part of the effect of changes like these would be making some aspects of the game harder... but currently most of those goals are so easy as to lack any challenge beyond your free time and attention span.

I suppose a harder game would be nicer, but I don't find popularity Sims to be having an easy time of making friends. Right now, they have to know basically everyone in the neighborhood to fulfill the twenty best friends want. Of course, my neighborhood is brand new anyway.

It would have to depend on what the terrorist was trying to do, but I get your point.

Similarities aren't the only thing to look at, though. People with similar personalities may hate each other. Similar interests are more liable to show you someone you'd get along with, and I would hope that the amount of skills a Sim has wouldn't affect their relationship that much.

I think I remember something about the bribes having to be something Pescado can't do or make.
44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: More realistic/difficult relationships? on: 2007 July 06, 12:31:04
I don't know that this limit on relationships would be anymore lifelike. I've been friends with several people that I've had little to nothing in common with, and am still friends with one of them to this day.

Besides, think of the poor popularity Sims! Tongue

For someone who didn't try, Dizzy sure bitched about getting a low score.

Although aesthetics are subjective, I did provide clear criteria, and I would point out that making judgements about subjective stuff according to a set of criteria is what I do for a living, so you know, I might actually be able to do it.

Dizzy broke the criteria as much as my house did. I just wasn't blunt about pointing it out. Landscaping is weighted the same amount as architectural features. If you're going to provide criteria, at least stick to it, for everyone.

Though I guess, being the judge, you can do as you wish, no matter who or how many people disagree with it.
47  TS2: Burnination / Building Contest of Awesomeness / Re: A House of Lesser Lose, by SaraMK. [Updated] on: 2007 July 03, 23:52:56
Tawanda wasn't giving advice, really, she was just pointing out some of the nicer points that the house showed. Dizzy really didn't try to make his house look good, either.

Besides, aesthetics are subjective.

"Move_objects on" without the quotes would enable that effect. You hit Ctrl, Shift, and C all at the same time to open up the cheat prompt.
49  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Naked sims are only cool when streaking! on: 2007 July 03, 18:27:45
I actually just downloaded a bunch of their stuff. I want to use it on my Sims who fit certain.. stereotypes. It's just so tacky that I will laugh everytime they come onto the screen.

Charmed Sims is pretty good. I like their clothing. SimChic is pretty good too, though I really hate the way they present it. You'd figure they could give you more than a puny square.

Parsimonious is so bad that it actually is good on occasion. Eh, their clothes definitely have personality.
