The text of the Call Service...Matchmaker dialog comes up blank if dailygardener is installed.  At least that's been my experience.

Karen

Oh.  Thanks for the info.  I'll miss my daily gardener, but I'm going to take it out until JM updates it.
27  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's the best system to play TS2 and EP's on? on: 2005 September 20, 00:54:58
I currently have an HP.  3.0 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, with a GeForce FX 5200 w/ 128 MB.  I've been thinking about getting an updated video card.  The game runs pretty smoothly, just a few jerks now and then.  I sent a sim downtown when she got the 1st NL invite.  7 sims arrived at the lot.  There were 3 NPCs in the restaurant, 1 downtownie, 2 Sims from the neighborhood and the grand vampire.  I'm not sure if I should expect more with an updated video card or if this is as good as it gets.

My pork chops went away too.  I actually thought it was replaced by 2 items by Maxis - Chicken Fettucini and Baked Chicken.  Dumb me...  Anyhow, doing download clean up I found 2 hacks labeled careers (I think) for the dishes.  I have removed them and installed NL.  Alas, still no pork chops.  Does any one know how to make them reappear?  Without uninstalling the games?

Hmmm... I still have dailygardner in my game.  I haven't had any problems with the matchmaker after my first run.  She shows up on the lot on day one.  I have had sims socialize with her and say goodbye.   I have not tried asking for a match.  What problems are people noticing?

I've only been playing with NL a couple of days, but I am curious if anyone else has noticed that you cannot get parents and children to dance togther any longer.  I have used this options repeatedly for my teen sims when working to get the fancy footwork scholarship.  Tried it last night, and it just wasn't an option for either the parent or the teen.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one with this problem!  I'm not glad that the problem exists, just that someone else has seen this and that it's not a figment of my imagination.  I can't get my teens to dance with their parents, even though the parent has high dancing skill.  There is no "dance together" option.  Even "Join" doesn't work very well.   Undecided

2) When a Sim serves a group meal, you can click on the serving platter to call the whole family to eat.

Have you actually gotten that to work? When I tried, the guests just went about their business sitting in the hot tub or playing kicky bag etc.

Doesn't work for me at all.  Tried it with Nina Caliente.  Everyone just kept doing what they were doing.  No one came to the table.   Sad

An aside... be careful of the initial invites downtown.  You never know who's going to show up in the group.  Nina received my first call to go downtown from Don Lothario.  I had her accept because it was the first time I had a sim go downtown.  Well, 7 sims in total were in the cab when it arrived at the restaurant - Don, Nina, Dina, Cassandra, Angela and Lilith Pleasant, and Alexander Goth.  All Maxis created Sims that I've played.  It was a disaster!  Nina kissed Don immediately upon exiting the cab, which made Dina furious.  Also, Cassandra and Dina have the Don in common.  Cassandra followed Dina around the lot all evening slapping her.  Nothing stopped it!  And unfortunately, it's all saved.  Now Dina keeps stopping by Nina's house and kicking over the trash or stealing her newspaper!  I have so much relationship clean up to do...
32  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: About that custom content warning screen on: 2005 September 16, 14:08:38
After clicking enable and restarting the game, all of my custom content seems to be available.  On the lot I tested, I did have the bed frame flashing blue but using the design tool corrected the problem.  All of the custom colors were available for selection.

Thank you for coming to this forum and responding to posts.  My question is regarding the blank want slots.  Has that been corrected in the NL coding?  And just yesterday, a headmaster got stuck in my hot tub.  I hope that has been fixed along with all of my invisible stucky kicky bags.

Reading this post made me realize that I'm playing very, very slowly.  All of the Maxis made families are intact in Pleasantview, the only neighborhood that I play.  Daniel is still an elder, and because I rarely play them, Mary Sue is still an adult!  I restarted my game when Uni came out, and I am still in first generation.  Boy, I really have to let someone die soon...  How can I move graves to the cemetary in NL if I have none to move?  Roll Eyes

Interesting thread.  Started out comical, ended an entirely different way.  Reminded me of a few things.  Oh, well.
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Game Assigns Aspiration on: 2005 July 23, 03:22:20
That definitely sounds like the plan... because Maxis is going to continue to add crappy little things to our games that will require fixing.  At least we all know where to look!

Glad to see ya somewhere!  I began to panic... but took a deep breath and checked the (old) forum.  Here I am!  Whither thou goest, I shall go.
