Thanks!

Well I don't have any expert advice because I'm far from it  Cheesy but I use AVG for free anti-virus software and it has caught things that Norton didn't even pick up on, so I'm pretty well sold on it.

Sorry for the aside... KellyQ, what is AVG and where can I get it?  I have great fears that things are getting through my Norton.  Thanks.
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what is an overpopulated neighborhood anyway? on: 2006 May 20, 19:25:20
Sorry.  I realize that I wasn't clear.  In anticipation of loading OBF and FFS, we moved all of our sims out into the Sim Bin.  Reloaded all of the houses to be sure that they were empty.  Saved the empty homes.  And dumped lots of unnecessary downloads.  Now ALL of my current Sims (over 23 active families) are in the sim bin, unattached to houses.

I think I will need to replace the entire folder.  I will go into the game and move the houses I want into the house bin and replace the entire N001 folder.  Thanks for all of the help, BlueSoup.

And thanks rainbow.  I will replace the entire folder.

But at 580 you're not doing really that bad.  I wouldn't worry about it, and you probably have a lot invested into it.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, BlueSoup.  I do have quite a bit invested but I think it would be good to start fresh.  In that 580, I must have at least 3 pregnant sims and several families I haven't played in months.

I found the folder you pointed me to with just 170 little character files.  Would it work for me to just replace the character folder and keep all of my houses?

Umm...  need a little help here please.  I've been playing Pleasantview since University and have only had 2 sims die.  After reading this thread, I checked my folder and I have 580 character files.  Yikes!  I need to change my playing style, and employ population control as JM states.  I'd like to restart the neighborhood without deleting all of my other hoods that are at 300 or so files.  How do I have the game regenerate Pleasantview?  Do I just delete the contents of the N001 folder?  Thanks...

So glad to see this one back.  My sims were driving me crazy!  Thanks.

Oooh!  An update!  Thanks, JM.
8  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Hygiene Bug Fix on: 2005 November 22, 00:01:38
Here's to something you don't know you need until someone tells ya...  I wondered why I had 2 sims jump up from the table when dining downtown.  The jumping reset the date so they wanted to dine out again!  Thanks for the fix, JM.
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lol, how to marry Don to Cassandra...:) on: 2005 November 19, 15:31:28
Hey, I actually like Don more than Cassandra. Don is actually useful. Cassandra is lazy. Fortunately, the children seem not to have inherited her laziness.

I love Cassandra.  Well, I changed her personality a bit, increased the neatness and the shyness, gave her a make over and now she's a fabulous sim.  She married Don (in both of my restarts of the game), had 2 kids by him, kicked him out when she found him cheating with Dina, and then married Darren.  She's going for the 10 children want.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New version of Sims2DB database available on: 2005 November 16, 23:32:25
You won't have to redo your work, you can import your Sims into the updated version. Details are in the readme or at http://sims2db.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=10

11  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Front Door Hack v2.0 on: 2005 November 16, 12:28:36
Thank you for this.  I'm so very tired of everyone using the garage door as a front door.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New version of Sims2DB database available on: 2005 November 11, 12:04:21
Pegasys, I just started to load my sims into the original database.  Will I have to redo all of my work if I install the new version?
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Battle of the Aspirations on: 2005 November 05, 04:23:15
Fortune and Family are my favorites.  The combo together is great.  I have a "try for baby" problem as I tend to keep my sims pregnant all the time.  I just love the kids  Smiley  Now I'm starting most of my kids as Knowledge sims to get the aspiration points for all of the skill building they do in prep for Uni.  I don't like Romance sims especially now with NL.  My Romance sims are outcasts!  Everyone is furious with them.

Which do you think is prettier?
I love the after.   Smiley
Great looking skintones, GloamingMerle.  I never play aliens or vampires but I may give them a whirl with your skintones.  Thanks for sharing!
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How much is too much on: 2005 November 01, 01:47:04
I know that I have a problem... EDD - Excessive Download Disorder.  I have 1.65 GB of downloads.  And that's after doing clean up prior to installing NL.  And I have items to add to the game when I log out.  I keep saying I'm going to change my ways, but I don't...  Huh

Welcome, TwoJeffs!  So glad that you've come over.

I have that painting on every one of my lots.

Smiley  So do I.  I even put them on the downtown lots.  Outings can last so much longer.  I love Merola's painting.  I know JM thinks it's evil...
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: If EA releases another party pack what would it have to have for you to buy on: 2005 October 25, 23:50:11
The whole concept of expansion and booster packs makes me angry because I'm paying for things that could've or should've been in the base game, and more often than not, the additional content doesn't justify the price. I don't like the way the Sims, in particular, has a new expansion every 6 months, whether the previous ones are riddled with bugs or not, and now they're throwing together some Christmas rubbish and trying to sell it to me for $20?

My feelings exactly.  I am still pissed because we're supposed to pay for this booster.  I feel that with all of the bugs, and the very long wait for a patch, this holiday pack should be downloadable for free to those of us who already have the base game.  Don't know if I'll ever get over being pissed off at EA for this.  Someone please say, "Laura, let it go!"

remember before nightlife alot of us were asking for realistic visits with other sims ie take your children/toddlers/babies with you ,walk to the neighbors house etc... the only thing we got was cars  and dates  I also remeber people asking for more interactions with children, toddlers and babies  ie mom sits down to feed the baby. and more items for children and toddlers  to do or play with

I agree.  I would go for more interactions with toddlers/children, more objects for those age groups, and is it to much to ask for children to interact with toddlers?  I would pay for a pack/expansion that added those things.  I will not purchase this holiday pack.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Database IS ready on: 2005 October 23, 04:34:16
Yay!  I just downloaded the database.  I see my Sunday morning is set.  I'll be entering all the information from my notebook and checking the game for my latest additions.  Thanks for the directions on getting out of reports mode, SaraMK.  And thanks for sharing this with the MATY community, Pegasys!
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Database almost ready... on: 2005 October 23, 04:17:53
In reply to Lauraglenn: yes there will be printable reports available....
I think the way I'll personally use the database is to print the reports and use these also as a form to add more data. Or just review it before I start playing.

Pegasys, thanks so much for the reply.  I am really excited about your database.  I will probably use the reports just as you mentioned, to keep notes while playing and update the database regularly.  I can't wait!
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Database almost ready... on: 2005 October 20, 10:24:46
I would love to try your database.  It looks great!  I've been trying to keep track of my sims on paper... this will be so much better.  I also noticed there is a reports tab.  Do you have some printable reports created?
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Things We've Learned From The BBS on: 2005 October 19, 11:08:38
I've learned that things are always my fault.  I did it.  It's not the game because 5 people will answer and say, "I don't have that problem."  Also, Maxis and EA are never at fault.  "Don't you know how hard it is to make a game?"  "Don't you know difficult it is to make a patch?" and the new one, "They can't give away the new mini expansion pack for free, they need the money!!"
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Holiday Addon pack announced on: 2005 October 11, 22:13:01
I am very disappointed with this announcement.  With all the crap we put up with from EA, we should get this add on content free.  And just who is working on the patch(s)?  It seems everyone is busy making add ons and expansions and no one is really working on what matters - correcting the bugs that they sent out in the previous packs!!   Angry
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's the best system to play TS2 and EP's on? on: 2005 September 21, 00:27:34
Hi Lauraglenn, I think your video card is indeed letting you down compared to the rest of your system. I've got 256Mb video RAM but would like to double that to 512Mb. Suspect I won't be able to afford it though.

I thought so.  The game does run pretty well, especially in comparison to what I've heard from others.  I will probably upgrade the video card.  And the fans... the thing does run very hot now but only during the game.  Any info on cards would be appreciated.
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The No Pork Chops Eyeshadow? on: 2005 September 20, 23:56:29
My pork chops went away too.  I actually thought it was replaced by 2 items by Maxis - Chicken Fettucini and Baked Chicken.  Dumb me...

Maxis released two new food objects? When did this happen?

No, they didn't.  It was just my misunderstanding.  I must have downloaded houses with hacked food objects.  I didn't know where the 2 food items came from until I went through my downloads w/ Clean Installer.  I have since deleted them and am still missing my porkchops.   Sad

Thanks for the name of the eyeshadow, babylon.  I'll look for it.
