Actually, I never saw the gypsy at all until I got rid of that older version of the VC.  Now that it's gone, I saw the gypsy that one time, but she disappeared before she could deliver the lamp.  I may go look for the latest version as you suggest anyway, since I liked using it in Uni to keep away cow mascots, professors, streakers, and other useless personages.  Of course I'll have to be sure to Allow Gypsy, if I do install it!  The problem is, as previously stated, the appearance of the gypsy is so rare that it will be a while before I even get an opportunity to see her again.  I'll let you guys know once I know anything more.  Isn't hunting down conflicts fun?  Roll Eyes

(I wonder if that's it -- could the older VC have made any permanent changes in the code?  Because the default was "Ban Gypsy" if I recall correctly.  It may take the new VC to change it back if so.)

On a totally different subject, just yesterday I experienced my first gnome-stealing, only to have the family's teen boy leave autonomously in the middle of the night to Steal Back the gnome.  He would have made the entire trip in his PJs if Inge's clothes-changing door had let him.  He succeeded in stealing it back, though I suppose there was a certain percentage chance that he'd have been brought home in the police car!  I can't get over how many things I still see that are completely new to me, even from the base game (as I suppose this was), even with all the hundreds of hours I've played it.

And now back to our currently scheduled expansion pack.  Wink

How would he give the woman a goodnight kiss if you clicked Say Goodbye/To Everyone on the guy? Whatever way (kiss, hug, wave, shoo) he'd say goodbye to the guy, he wouldn't interact with that girl for her to leave, she'd just take off.
Now that you mention it, that must be it -- I don't remember that detail, but I must have clicked on the male visitor when I gave that command, rather than on the female visitor.  Of course, given how chummy things were getting with her, he'd probably have kissed her, too.  Roll Eyes  Anyway, good point.

EDIT:  Almost forgot:
After that big wind-up, I thought you were going to say, "Oh, he gave a kiss all right -- to the LITTLE DOG!"
Hah, that would have been pretty funny too.  "AND YOUR LITTLE DOG, TOO!"  Tongue

Sounds like the fellow that comes, if I recall correctly, with Pets -- a single guy with a little dog.  One time when I was playing him, suspecting nothing, he had two visitors over -- a townie man, and one of my CAS women.  He seemed to be getting along well with both, particularly the woman.  When I gave the command "Say Goodbye To/All," I hoped he'd give the woman a good-night kiss.  Oh, he gave a kiss all right -- to the MAN!  I about fell out of my chair.

When I checked his "preference" with boolprop, it came back, "I prefer Males and Females."  I thought, "That's not a preference!"  Roll Eyes

Back on topic, I remember seeing a skintone on the un-aptly-named SexySims2 site called something like, "Burnt Or Diseased."  You will all hopefully forgive me for not linking to it, as those of you who have seen it know which one I mean.  I certainly Do. Not. Want.  But then again, that applies pretty much to anything on SXS2 for me, except for some of the skintones that are actually attractive looking.  Wink

But if I get a vote, it goes to the men in thongs, sequins, and high heels.  Oh how I wish that which has been seen could be unseen.  *shudder*

That outfit is the one and only (and, I think, sufficient) reason why I never give any of my Sims the Show Business career.  If their LTW involves it, I reroll it using the Awesome Batman Box thing.  The job title sounds safe enough too:  "Commercial Actor."  At least warn me that my Sim will be playing a giant order of french fries!

Along with that one, though I have no pic on hand, I nominate the Entertainment career path job called something like "Birthday Party Mascot."  Also known as Creepy the Clown, and I Do. Not. Want.

Heck, I can't even stand the llama mascot at the bottom of the Athletic career.  The llama head sticks through the top of the car also.  Angry

Oh, thank goodness.  Me in tight pants is something no one wants to see!  Tongue

I have removed a number of non-awesome and formerly-awesome hacks, and we'll see if the gypsy ever shows up now....

Suggestions, that is, about what to look for in my Downloads folder that might be conflicting with the gypsy.  Suggestions for my wardrobe could probably only improve matters too, but not related to this situation.  Grin

Well, the genie lamp/gypsy matchmaker saga continues.  I finally saw the gypsy for the first time in this context -- she snuck up to my Sims' house extremely conspicuously, in broad daylight, up the stairs onto their front porch -- and then disappeared!  I assume she was intending to drop off the lamp, but something conflicted and she went to Sim Limbo.  I've just installed a bunch of hacks from this site, so my guess is it's either an older unsupported hack, or a conflict with something non-awesome.

The Sims themselves shouldn't matter, but just in case, it was Andrew Martin who came with SNS, with his son Jacob off at Uni and his new wife Barbara in the house also, a former townie who is very pregnant with Jacob's first half-sibling.  And I think Peter Sims was visiting them at the time.  I'll start looking more closely at my Downloads folder, but I'm open to other suggestions.

Aha, that's what I was hoping -- that it was a Feature Carried Forward.  I haven't skilled (hobbied?) any Sims quite up to that level, so I'll wait and see.  Thanks for the help!  Smiley

I must admit I haven't seen this genie lamp in game yet, except for the family which comes with one (and I deleted them because I wanted to get the lamp on my own).  And I have played a few families for several Sim days, and even got some Sims quite high on the hobby interest bar, only I haven't maxed any of them out yet.  Could it be because I don't have NL installed at the moment, and thus perhaps don't have a gypsy matchmaker?  I'm running base game + UNI + SNS + FT at the moment, and had but got rid of TJ's Visitor Control mod after reading that it was incompatible with other FT functions.

This thread is too fun!  (Actually, it's too true to be good.  If I didn't laugh, I'd cry.)
Oh lord, the potential toad-want spam. "Want so-and-so to be cured of being a toad," "Fear being a toad," "Fear loved one will be a toad," "Want enemy to be a toad," "Want to hear toad-friend croak," "Want AND Fear licking a toad". Spare me.
You forgot about Knowledge Sims wanting to be turned into a toad.  Roll Eyes  If they ever get this want realized, they will wind up completely borked.  The lot will quit at the very least, or maybe you'll even be expelled from the game with one of those error messages that non-awesome types like myself cannot understand at all.  When you reload the lot, the game will be unable to load the Toadsim (!) and you will get an adult acting like a baby, or else the Sim in question will wind up in Sim Limbo and require extreme measures to make reappear.

It scares me that writing such prose is so easy, and the results sound so plausible.
111  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Changing Sim height or eye color in game on: 2008 June 14, 17:36:47
Hi everyone, this is my first post.  It seems there's no "Introductions" area, rather you just dive in and people make fun of you for being non-awesome.  Which is fine with me.  Wink

It seems there are various cheats and hacked items to change almost everything about pre-made Sims in-game, except for the two things I mentioned.  I believe that eye color can be changed with SimPE, and I already know about using SimPE with the stretchskeleton factor to change a Sim's height permanently.  What I'm wondering is whether it's even possible to make a hacked object that would do either of these things in-game.

I've never found such an object, and I sure don't know everything but I've been around a little bit, so I'm guessing that the answer is "no."  Since I cannot believe that I'm the first to think of these things.  If it's possible in principle, though, I might give it a try, though I'd no doubt have to get past the learning curve.  I guess what I'm wondering is whether anyone knows whether it can be done, or even whether there is something that makes it impossible even in principle.

Thanks for reading, and I hope to be half as awesome as the rest of you someday.  Smiley
