I wonder if this is broken much like the Piano was broken back at launch.  It's fun for a day and then goes to hell?
27  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Did I break the AL wall hanging feature? on: 2008 September 17, 16:02:38
In order for a ceiling to occur there must be floor tiles on the level above it.  Even if the level above it is the roof.  As long as there are floor tiles, and you haven't turned off auto-ceilings, you should get a ceiling.

I haven't messed around with the wall hanging feature much, mainly because I consider walls to be non-existant except when required by phone or mirror placement.  I play with my walls down more than up, so I forget they're there and never see anything on them so I don't put anything on them.
28  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims refuse to fall in love on: 2007 October 09, 15:41:35
The "Make OUt" action actually is non-love-inducing, even by default. The fact they have zero attraction would mean the odds of them fitting together are rather bad with noinstantloves. That's sort of the point.

Hmm.  The two I have have no lightning bolts, so that's probably what caused it.  Still, twenty flirt/romantic hugs/romantic kisses should be able to override it I'd think...
29  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims refuse to fall in love on: 2007 October 08, 16:48:15
I've had this same issue with Sims who were already in love with someone else refusing to fall in love with someone despite making out like crazed weasels, which initially led me to believe it was the RomanceMod, but noinstantloves does sound like a more likely culprit.  Especially since removing the RomanceMod did nada to fix it.
30  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No cook showing up in dormitories on: 2007 October 08, 16:38:56
The less possibility of some stupid Sim going to cook something while at UNI the better.  No fridges, no extra stoves, no microwaves.  They can order Pizza if they're hungry and there's no cook on the lot.
31  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV: Anybody Updating These Abandoned Mods? on: 2007 September 21, 11:21:28
That sounds right.  I seem to recall some hilarity of Sims talking and suddenly standing on the water while they chatted shortly after installing Seasons.  Happened to me in Strangetown at the Smith's house.
32  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage: Messed up Sims on: 2007 September 14, 12:02:25
Are they supposed to be caught "cheating" by sleeping in bed with their wife? Dina's pissed at Don for crawling into bed with Cassandra at the tail end of Alexander's birthday party - Dina and Don had made out a little, but Cassandra was already asleep when Don climbed in beside her. Perhaps it's the spooning that counts as "cheating"? Don got a "got caught cheating"  memory and Dina's furious with him

Were Don and Cass married?  If so, go get the Romancemod and nuke that kind of idiocy.  If anything, Dina should feel bad for cheating on Morty with Don.   Tongue
33  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims Won't Marry on: 2007 September 08, 19:19:37
Having a similar problem to the above poster right now.  I removed all CC and the problem went away.  Put back in just Marriage Traditional and the problem came back.  Put in all Pescado goodies except that and it still errored.  Put everything in with the marriage fix in this post and it errored still.  Most recent log attached.
34  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 08, 03:51:30
rundll32.exe is typically a windows required process and is not likely to be the process you think is attempting to "phone home" from in the game.  It's literally a program that reads DLL files and places the libraries contained in them into memory so the computer can use them.

Now, some viruses disguise themselves as rundll32, so make sure your defs are up to date anyway.
35  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No Instant Loves Question on: 2007 March 20, 00:29:48
This is a bug.  It's not some thing about personality conflicts or aspiration conflicts or the fact that some sim rolled over in their grave.  Just a bug.  You can trigger Love through certain actions (flirts and kisses that aren't the whole shebang), but it takes some coaxing.  I managed to get a pre-made married Maxis couple from Seasons to finally not be mad at each other in the family portrait by having them caress hands at the dinner table one night.   Roll Eyes  And Daniel and MarySue Pleasant got their love-shack on after kissing each other up the arm.
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: About LTW Hacks on: 2006 May 01, 21:53:37
There is a debug object in the game called the Sim Modder which gives you the option of going through the list of LTW's in a set order.  To access it:

  • Turn on Debug Mode (boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true)
  • Shift+Left Click on a Sim and select "Spawn - Sim Modder"  (the object is a baby model)
  • Left Click on the Sim Modder and select Aspiration - Lifetime Wants.

You can't select one directly, but you can go through either all of the wants or just your Aspiration LTWs in a set order through that object.  You can't be in Pause mode while doing it, as it queues it as an action.
37  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Does ANYONE get a 'Got Mail' dialogue from checking email?! on: 2006 May 01, 21:41:55
Yeah, the default email boost is really really craptastic.  I think it's one or two points.  It's at least a little more reliable than "Chat With" on the computer, when the person you're chatting with will randomly sign off.   Roll Eyes  This way you're more or less guaranteed to get the boost.
38  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Does ANYONE get a 'Got Mail' dialogue from checking email?! on: 2006 May 01, 20:03:17
Um...  The only time you get email is when you send email.  As in, say I'm playing Don Lothario and I have him email Dina Caliente.  He emails her, has a little thought bubble about whatever the hell subject he randomly chose to email her about, he finishes it and sends it.  I immediately make him check his email after and, voila!  He has email!

Dina, however, doesn't, because she never sent email in the first place.  The entire interaction took place on Don's lot.

Is it logical?  Not really.  But how else are you going to get an email reply from a Townie?
39  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: The kid is stuck on the school bus! on: 2006 May 01, 15:33:08
If they show up without their homework or they lose it, and you're using Monique's computer, "do homework" will still come up under the study option so you can do it and their grades don't go down. Very handy. I've even done this when I moved someone and left their homework behind.

Their grades won't go down anyway if the homework object doesn't exist.
40  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Neighborhood History on: 2006 May 01, 01:44:42
 Shocked Shocked Shocked

I'm knowledgable???

*hides in fear*

 Grin

All of the official stories are actually right there in the game in front of you.  All you need to do is read the actual storylines at the beginning of each neighborhood, the Sim Biographies, examine the Sims memories, and take a look in the screenshots created for the default families.  It will give you a very good idea what has happened in the lives of your Sims.  The memories do have the occaisional glitch (Alexander Goth is firmly convinced that Bella taught him two of his toddler skills, but Mortimer is firmly convinced that he taught him two of them as well), but for the most part they all work out.

Also, family trees.  Very helpful!

EDIT:  Michael Bachelor's Urn was the other thread you were looking for.  Wink

If people are actually interested I can compile my own theories, but other than relating what is in the stories and in the memories, everything I write is just a theory on it.  I'm too tired to do it now (been up for 22 hours), but I can look into it.  At least for Pleasantview.  I'm not nearly as knowledgeable about Strangetown, and I've never played Veronaville.
41  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Reporters that can't be interacted with... on: 2006 April 30, 14:34:28
Or you can do the real easy thing and only sell one item per shop.  That way, every sim walking in will walk in wanting to buy the same thing and you won't have to putz around with Sims who want something that someone else just bought and you haven't yet restocked.  I mean, it's not like your playable Sims are really ever going to go to these stores for something useful.
42  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Deleting, Creating, and Generating Townies in OFB *updated* on: 2006 April 27, 19:30:17
I use the YA's as a townie-marriage pool.  There are a few plate eaters in the mix, but that's why we have Sim Surgery.

I think the only two lots in Downtown that should have issues are Gothier Green Lawns and The House of Fallen Leaves, since those are the two lots with tombstones on them.  I'm gonna do some experimenting and see.
43  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: UserStartup.cheat won't alias cheats... on: 2006 April 26, 12:35:48
Multi-word cheats need to be in quotation marks.
44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Slimming The Game Down on: 2006 April 25, 19:00:15
The default neighborhoods only regenerate if you remove your entire Sims 2 folder in My Documents or rename it.  That causes the entire directory to regenerate.  I deleted all three of them on my PC since I'm only playing my custom neighborhood right now and haven't had any problems.
45  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Deleting, Creating, and Generating Townies in OFB *updated* on: 2006 April 25, 16:47:10
Next question.  Why do you say not to use the Maxis downtown?  Is it because of the Tricour ghosts?  Their character files are created even if you create a custom Downtown for your neighborhood, and they are still created as ghosts.
46  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: 10 children want & alien babies on: 2006 April 25, 16:30:19
Because one is the Party, and one is the memory.  There is no "Golden Anniversary Party".  The memory is called the "Golden Anniversary".  The Party is called the "Anniversary Party".
47  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Deleting, Creating, and Generating Townies on: 2006 April 24, 21:30:28
Why do you not add the sub-neighborhoods before running the deleteallcharacters command?
48  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB Preventing Visitor Death? on: 2006 April 24, 21:22:49
Death by Cowplant is an odd thing.  I think this is because it skips most of the standard Death antics.  So who knows.
49  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: 10 children want & alien babies on: 2006 April 24, 21:21:11
Yes it wsa increased in NL.  Still.  Don't care.  Unless you actually like having 20 buttzillion sims all related to eachother inside of two generations, don't give in to Family Sims.  They're INSANE.  There's a reason I nuked my first Pleasantview.  Actually, two reasons.  One's named Brandi Broke.  The other is named Cassandra Goth.  When I had 8 Goth lots and 7 Broke lots after one generation, I knew it was time to move on.
50  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: 10 children want & alien babies on: 2006 April 24, 16:20:10
Have 10 Children is a Power Want, not a LTW.  Either way, it's not one you ever want to fill.  Unless you like accellerating your neighborhoods demise in a bfbvfs.

It usually rolls up every time a Family Sim has a kid.  I just ignore it and it goes away very quickly.
