26  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Hotel doesn't know Sim isn't there anymore. on: 2007 September 17, 13:14:53
I have a working Jade's Exclusive Resorts again. Now I just get to spend a few days dreading unintended consequences. Emboldened by the ability to bulldoze the borked lot, I created a new Takemizu village in an unplayed neighborhood, copied Jade's from there, bulldozed my borked one, and planted a new copy. It's working, but I can't guarantee no VBT anomalies yet.
27  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Hotel doesn't know Sim isn't there anymore. on: 2007 September 17, 01:33:05
My Jade's Exclusive Resort has become a bit too exclusive. Through stupidity on my own part, the lot is broken and no one can go there.

I was carelessly monkeying around with hacks (some outdated) when one of my sims got lost on vacation. When I tried to load her home lot, it told me she was on vacation at another lot, did I want to play there? I said yes, and the lot loaded with Live, Buy, and Build Modes all grayed out -- my sim nowhere in sight. I eventually recovered her by having a friend call her on the phone and invite her over. I then forced her into the family, had her move out, and moved her back into her original lot. She's fine.

However, the hotel still says there's a family vacationing there and won't allow anyone to visit. I can't move or delete the lot because the game thinks she's still there. Anyone have any idea how to reset the "someone is vacationing here" flag on a hotel?

My bro-in-law tells me that red cars get pulled over more by cops and get more tickets than any other color.
I do have a lot of cruisers follow me around. I do know that having a red car increases the cost of the insurance.  Tongue

Strange. My insurance company has never asked the color of my car.

I guess they might know what color it was manufactured as from the VIN, but if they have that kind of resources, why did they ask for make, model, and year?
29  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Warning for Aussies buying Celebrations on: 2007 April 09, 00:50:02
I never had a problem.

When I installed, it did it's usual change to UK English / 24 hour clock thing. So I applied the usual fix to get the 12 hour clock I prefer. Didn't think anything about until today when I saw this thread about not being able to change the clock. So I wondered if I had imagined things and set my game back to UK English and checked to see that I had a 24 hour clock. I did. I put it back to 12 hour. It changed back. So I posted that you can, in fact, change the clock with Celebrations installed. But I guess I'm insufficiently Australian to make it not work.
30  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Warning for Aussies buying Celebrations on: 2007 April 08, 22:47:53
Let's try this again.

I have Celebrations.

It works.

Who has problems with reading comprehension?
31  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Warning for Aussies buying Celebrations on: 2007 April 08, 22:42:48
Quit enabling the sheep. I've switched the clock back and forth in my game. I know it works. Skadi is bleating that it doesn't in an effort to get someone to hold his hand and repeat the instructions once again because he's too lazy to work it out himself.
32  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Warning for Aussies buying Celebrations on: 2007 April 08, 22:32:01
No.

It does work. You lose at the Sims.
33  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Warning for Aussies buying Celebrations on: 2007 April 08, 22:11:26
Yeah, I'm pissed about this.
It's not worth getting drunk over. Oh wait, did you mean angry? That's why we need proper localizations.

Is there any fix for the clock? Could some one post a link if there is?
There is a fix for this. It's pretty simple. You should be able to find it easily on this site. For me to find it and post a link would be to encourage excessively sheepish behavior.
34  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can I alter my custom fridges? on: 2007 April 08, 22:05:45
Are you familiar with SimPE? If so, just add the attached package's content to the custom fridge, overriding the existing pie menus.

Should work for all custom fridges, as long as they do not have modified pie menus.

Okay, I'm the stupid one who's gonna speak up.  How do I add this package?  I'm familiar with simpe but not overly so.  I'm not afraid to mess with it so please hit me with the instructions.  Thanks.
Here's how to do what I did. I think it worked.

1) Open the package that was attached earlier in this thread. You'll see two resources.

2) Right click on each of those resources and choose "extract..." to put them on your desktop.

3) Open a pre-Seasons custom fridge package and find the corresponding resources in that package.

4) Right click on each of them and choose "replace..." selecting the corresponding resource from your desktop.

5) Save the new custom fridge. et Voila!*

* In this case, that means "and Pray."
35  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Making Sim Twins on: 2007 April 05, 01:57:36
(re-apply the disclaimer from above.)

I think you can modify family relationships in SimPE to make the parents brothers. But I would recommend doing it before the children are born or the game won't know they're supposed to be "cousins."
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Making Sim Twins on: 2007 April 05, 01:53:51
I'm no expert on the matter and I may be completely wrong. (If so, someone will come along and correct me and you'll get useful information.)

I don't think the game even knows twins are twins once they've been born. If I'm not mistaken, you could create some really messed up twins (without using any hacks) by just buying a birthday cake and forcing one twin to grow up as early as possible in each stage while keeping the other one "young" as long as possible. You might even be able to get one to adulthood while the other is still a child.

Shouldn't that be "Kish mir en tuches?"

just sayin'...  Roll Eyes
38  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Another Environment Question: Greenhouses on: 2007 April 04, 13:13:00
That actually makes more sense than it might seem at first. Greenhouses are not very pleasant places to spend a significant amount of time unless you are a plant.
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Environment preference of the sims on: 2007 April 03, 20:20:13

Lol - ladies and gentlemen, you are too tough on me! *I don't know how to recolor*. I only know how to replace the bed, that's all.

It's amazing how we can sometimes miss little things that seem obvious to others. In case you still don't know how to recolor an item without selling and replacing it, This is how you do it:

40  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Environment preference of the sims on: 2007 April 03, 18:13:29

Of course it's not enough, because I have to add lights too, and a desk with a computer. But you see the >>> sign of the environment scale.

Is it enough?

Did you "replace" the bed, or recolor it with the design tool?

Bonus points if you know why I asked.

Edit: and what else did you do in the 22 minutes between pictures other than fulfill at least one want?
41  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Environment preference of the sims on: 2007 April 03, 15:45:32
I don't believe this. I think you're looking at the effects of other variables.

If you want to test the effect of color on environment score, decorate a room and observe the scores at various positions in the room. Then, without changing any of the furniture or decorations, use the design tool to change the colors. If you change the floors or walls, make sure the new ones are as similar as possible to the originals (especial with regards price). Then check the room as close to the original positions as you can. I doubt you'll be able to see a difference.
42  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Question About Default Skintones on: 2007 March 06, 21:32:23
The replacement default skintones almost certainly have to be in your download folder somewhere.

Take everything out of that folder and they'll go away. Then put everything you know isn't a skintone back. They'll still be gone.

Then sort through everything that's left until you find them. Then you know what to nuke.
43  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lord of the Pack? on: 2007 March 06, 09:01:42
I'm pretty sure I've seen more than one Leader of the Pack (Glowing eyed wolf/dog). But I think it may be a case of a different Leader of the Pack in Pleasantville and Bluewater Village.
44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? on: 2007 March 04, 20:43:50
I have no problem at all imagining that a Sim wouldn't remember getting struck by lightning. They also might not remember their name or where they live, afterwards.  Wink
45  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Die Dreadful Dog on: 2007 March 03, 11:42:26
Is there any way to keep strays from opening the doors to community lots and walking in like they belong there?

I don't mind them so much on the street, but they get annoying when they walk into bars and restaurants. We need some health codes.

I have the "no strays" sign, but like I said, I don't mind them too much on the street. I'm sure the APO could take care of the situation, but I'd rather not have to prepare and configure every single lot for something that (I feel) should be handled globally.
46  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Life Stories - Get the Stuffeths here! on: 2007 February 26, 07:15:37
I am just curious as to why downloading would be any different using IE then using Firefox on Yahoo Groups.

Also, I didn't see what kind of error you were getting Isz, but I downloaded them all with Firefox, and used WinRAR to extract them.  I extracted each file to it's own directory, but everything went without a hitch.  Were you using WinRAR or something else?

I think it was a case of trying to un-rar them directly from the link rather than downloading to the desktop and un-rarring them there.
47  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Weird maternity outfit on: 2007 February 26, 05:57:22
An improperly skinned mesh will show up with black and cyan characters on a white background, but usually not actual words, much less somewhat relevant ones.

It sounds like a custom maternity outfit... possibly unintentionally downloaded as part of some other package.
48  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Invisible Fish Poll on: 2006 May 22, 14:11:13
I originally had fish with my nVidia 5200. They dissappeared when I installed OFB. When I upgraded to an ATI 9600 they came back.
49  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's Up With The Fish? on: 2006 April 14, 15:25:43
My fish dissappered when I installed OFB. They diplayed fine before that. I tried taking out all of my hacks, still no fish. I installed a new video card yesterday (went from a 64MB nVidia GeForce 5200 FX to a 256MB ATI Radeon 9600 Pro). The fish now show again. The invisible fish are a video card issue. Somewhere in the code for video detail, the fish were flagged as requiring a better video card than I had before. It might be fixable, but you'll need to find a talented modder with a weak video card.

(Note: this is just my observation and opinion, it's likely completely wrong. Never believe anything you read on the internet -- not even this.)
50  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Flying pig on: 2006 April 03, 21:05:17
so... has anybody tried training these bricks past the once.? I saw my sim doing it autonomously, thought WTF & checked their icon in the queue. Train bricks I thought? Not while I'm God. So my sims haven't done it since. Does anything change after repeated efforts?

Once the brick is fully trained the sim can show off their trained brick to their friends. It still won't do anything and the other sim will either smile embarrassedly or mock the poor deluded sim depending on how nice they are. So, pick a sim you don't like, make him train a brick, then show it off to all the mean sims you can find until his little sim spirit is broken.
