26  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Problem with Stairs on: 2010 May 19, 16:52:48
I've just finished building around 20 small lots. I went in to play test them and most (not all) are having stair complications. The only set of stairs affected are the ones coming up from the basement. The sims that use them can go down, but when they attempt to go back up they get into an endless loop of reaching the top and going back down. I've tried everything I can think of to try and correct the problem, including moving every object away from the wall, deleting the wall, deleting the stairs and placing new stairs, etc. I need help and ideas.

The floor plan (I know...should have taken a picture while in game) is as such: 10-12 tiles long, 5-8 tiles wide. The stairs have two tiles in front and behind on every floor. There are no objects or deco in the two tile vicinity. There might be a window, but I did attempt to remove them to try and fix the problem.

I've had this happen in one of my towns, except it was just 2 sims. I just deleted the sims and got on with it. It did keep happening and got worse, so I eventually just let the town die and never looked back. I have no clue what was causing it, so if anyone knows I'd also appreciate the added knowledge.

I'm having an issue with CAW since I updated it. I haven't really used it for a while and when I tried to start editing terrain, nothing happens. It says the terrain editor is active, select a brush. I select a brush, but I can't do anything with it. Any advice or maybe I just need a re-education on using this. I can do everything except edit terrain.
29  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Random Crash to Desktop on: 2010 April 06, 04:56:29
I'm having the crash. It happened 4 times today. I was building a lot and I zoomed out to see it and it CTD, then I went back in, built the damn thing again, zoomed out and it did it again. Thankfully I was smart enough to save frequently. The last 2 times it happened was when I was about to take pictures of the lot, so again, zooming.

I am running a Win7 x64 laptop, 8GB RAM, with a supported video card. I have WA And HELS installed, the test version of AM, and no other mods. This is the first time I have experienced this type of crash.
30  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Create-A-World Tips, Tricks, and Annoyances on: 2010 February 01, 00:33:12
I have a quick question. I've been creating a world for a while, I like small lots and have them setup city style. I haven't done any modding in the game, though. Today I fired it up for the first time and I have maptag overkill (and I mean I see nothing but blue dots). Is there any way around this or am I stuck with the only option of deleting and spacing the lots out?

Does anyone know where the save file is after you install it? I wanted to see what my town looked like in game and then edit all the mistakes. I saved it under 2 different names, but apparently that didn't matter. It still says that the world is already installed even though I erased everything I could find that had anything to do with it. Also, even though it says it is already installed, it isn't in the list of worlds on the Main Screen.
32  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Beta Testing 1.7.9/WA 2.2.8 Problems/Questions/Discussion on: 2009 November 27, 16:12:05
I've never used AwesomeStory before so perhaps this is a feature of it, but when I send my sim to a community lot, there is never another sim that visits. This is every community  lot in the hood.

Other bugs:

-Sim jumps when trying to upgrade the toilet. It gets to right when he is about to finish the upgrade, then he jumps.
-When I moved a sim to another house, I made that the default household. Then I went back to the other family, but they moved out. It hadn't even been 10 minutes of the same sim day. They weren't marked sacred, but again, I never played with AS on before.
-Their wants disappeared.
-The neighborhood is full. Sims are moving in at an epic rate. There are no more homes left. (Could have been from a previous version of AM)

I have an issue with wants disappearing when I switch households. I'm not sure if it's all the time, but it happened after I got the Flagrant System Error from one of the screens above.
34  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Beta Testing 1.7.9/WA 2.2.8 Problems/Questions/Discussion on: 2009 November 25, 16:08:23
This was mentioned by someone three pages back, but using the "set relationships" panel in CAS still results in the mouse pointer exhibiting strange behaviour, either changing into a sim icon or disappearing altogether...

ETA: Can confirm that with AM removed, mouse functionality returns to normal.

Same issue.
35  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Beta Testing 1.7.9/WA 2.2.8 Problems/Questions/Discussion on: 2009 November 24, 01:17:31
It's just "buydebug". That will enable a new category in buy mode.

I just started testing this and I had a CTD. This is the first time I have experienced it with AM since the very early days of development. I didn't catch what time it happened, but it was night and could very easily have been around midnight. Other than that, it has been working fine.
36  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I've got....cows on my lot. on: 2009 June 27, 12:42:45
I'd call that one last "good riddance" to Maxis.
37  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I've got....cows on my lot. on: 2009 June 27, 11:36:26
I'm surprised they didn't make a llama to go along with it.

Llamas were a Maxis thing. I doubt mighty EA is interested in the inside jokes left behind by that silly little company. There's a total lack of funny in this game.
38  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Alice and Kev Challenge? on: 2009 June 22, 01:14:19
I also did a version of Alice and Kev, but my goal was not to hold them down or keep them homeless. I played it as if the woman I started out with had lost her job and hubby and had nowhere else to go. She started in a "park" type lot next to that place that has the chess tables in sunset valley. She mostly earned her keep by harvesting other people's gardens and using the pot at the park. I never went looking for seeds, bugs, or rocks, but if she happened ot be passing one, she was allowed to collect it and sell it for profit. I let her get a job as a test subject where she met a guy she fell in love with. He, of course, did a hit and run (not planned by me). She had his baby, but he was already in love with someone else. Heh...and I actually thought it would be an easy out for her since he had a spiffy beach house. Anyhow, it took her whole young adult life, but she finally earned enough to move into the cheapest starter and then sell it off for the next one she could afford. Absolutely no cheats were used during this...and I'm very proud of myself for that.

Just to add to this weird aging thing, I just had a sim age from YA to elder. He was younger than his wife who had transitioned to adult about 6 sim days before. I got the popup that it was his birthday and all was normal. He aged, I watched and he had wrinkles and gray hair. I looked at his info and it showed the man with the cane silhouette.
40  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD & SCRIPT HACKS: CRASH ISSUES THREAD on: 2009 June 09, 12:34:59
After never having problems with updated awesomeware, I attempted to install Delphy's helper monkey to quickly install some patterns (MTS3 has crap for instructions, me thinks). So after I do that, I read that I would also be able to use HP's skin replacements so I also install that. I then go to load the game and CTD, again...CTD. First thing I did was remove HP's skins. Still crash. Then I remembered that there was an error when installing the helper monkey (it never did work as it should). So I replaced the resource.cfg file. That still didn't work so I just decided to remove everything, including the old no censor and attempt to start fresh. I then reinstalled Pescados framework, added awesomewarez back, deleted scriptcache.package, added no censor and viola, no crash.

So for me, and apparently several others, Delphy's helper monkey does not play nice because it tries to overwrite something in Pescados framework, either the dll file or the resources.cfg or both.

I've had 13 boys. Damn those apple pancakes! At least now I know what not to do.

43  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Seasonal Age Project: RFC (Request For Comments) on: 2008 April 15, 00:32:35
I am pretty interested in this mod. I never played with aging off, but I usually want my sims to live a little longer than they do. I'm not sure about them living that long, but, hey, if I don't like it I can remove it. I don't see the length of life as a bad thing, though. It would probably take me so much longer to populate my hood, which is a good thing.

And to more accidental deaths...WOOT!
44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Just a heads-up on: 2008 April 07, 16:50:02
It was the sign! It's the liquor store sign from the bus stop set. Dammit, that's the only nice sign for a liquor store out there.

jolrei, the church objects work fine. I don't have the organ, though.
45  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Just a heads-up on: 2008 April 07, 14:46:02
OMG!!! That's what it is! I've had this one community lot in a state of perpetual loading and I have tried everything to fix it, including resetting the portals and rebuilding the entire lot. Now I'm going to check on one item I used from the Out of the Way set. Stupid sign, I swear if that is the problem I'm going to pillage that site!
46  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Forever loading screen on: 2008 March 31, 13:26:46
I built it and I packaged it before I ever attempted to take a sim there. I tried reinstalling it, but it still didn't work. I think I will check on the portal thing by moving a wall out of the way. I built one wall to the sidewalk, though I've done that before without problems. Perhaps I blocked the portal with a window or a sign.
47  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Forever loading screen on: 2008 March 31, 04:16:34
I can enter in build mode and the podium and stove aren't even custom. I just thought they might be the problem because I had trouble with them back in the Nightlife days. I removed my downloads folder and it hasn't had any effect, I think the lot is just FUBAR now.
48  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Forever loading screen on: 2008 March 30, 20:09:13
No, there aren't any errors in debug mode, just loading forever. I removed everything that I thought might be the problem, the restaurant podium and restaurant stove, but that didn't do anything. I removed the lot, placed it again, didn't work. Removed it, deleted it, reinstalled the packaged version, placed it, still didn't work. There shouldn't be anything other than the podium and stove that could cause problems. The other stuff is EAxis and not hack type things.
49  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Forever loading screen on: 2008 March 30, 13:34:51
I'm having the same problem with one of my comm lots, too. I can go to all others, but one of them is in a state of perpetual loading. I've done several things to try and fix it, but nothing seems to be working. If it is a hack and you do find the culprit, please let me know what it is.
50  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: EA/Maxis has found the Nvidia problem! on: 2008 March 16, 02:54:04
Tis true, Kat. But when I disable the damn things, I want them down for good. I know what I'm doing, though and I don't suggest msconfig to anyone who would use a Windoze fer Dummies book to walk them through it. It's just a different and (for me) easier way to go through the list of startup processes and disable them.
