1  TS4: The Pee-ening / Insert Amusing Name Here / Re: Sims 4 Annoyance & Problem Thread. on: 2014 November 27, 00:41:43
That makes me want a way to set played households to no longer be considered played. That way, I can return a family to the townie pool when I tire of it, instead of having it sit around forever.

Well, when you go to "Manage Households" you can use "Transfer Sims Between Households." Move the family into an unplayed household in town or even "Not in the World." That way you might still see them around town but they don't live in any of the houses.

But it would be nice if there was a way to just unset a played household so you can keep them in the same house.

If you go in to manage household, there is a small plumbob at the lower left-hand corner of the family photo that if you click and turn gray it will set the family as unplayed.  You can also click it green on an unplayed family to make it count as a played home.  When you move a person out, you can add them to an existing household or you can create a new household.  In the event that you create a new one, you can select the sims in that household and have them move into an empty house in town or to remain "homeless" but they will still be seen in the neighborhood.

I think we're going to need some kind of fps limiter again if the noise of my video card fan earlier today were anything to go by.

Agreed.

'Write a song' seems to be totally borked - sims start but can't stop (usually needing to be reset entirely to pry them away from the instrument), and although songs do sort of complete (at least enough to register for the Music milestone), you don't get the completed sheet music as an object, so can't send them off to be licensed.

Every time you send your sim to "Write a Song", a sheet of music is generated in their inventory.  If you need to stop your sim from writing the song for whatever reason (as it seems to take them a very long time to write it and they have to pee every ten minutes) then they only have an unfinished song.  To finish a song you need to go into their inventory and click on the sheet of music to instruct them to work on that song again, otherwise the "Write a Song" option from the instrument only causes them to write a NEW song and not complete the old one.  Once the song is actually complete, you are able to name it and then get the song licensed at the mailbox.  Licensing a song works the same way as publishing a book in that once you do it you will get royalties from it for a bit.

My List -

- Toddlers!  I want them back!
- A way to tell teens, YAs and As apart!
- I miss having an open neighborhood, dammit!
- Last names when marrying?
- Musical chairs. Also, your sim can do so much crap while holding their food, inviting someone in is no exception EXCEPT that when you invite them in, your sim gets the interaction to GO HOME which, of course, makes them drop their damn plate!
- Too much ADHD.  I tell my sim to skill from a book, exercise or play on the monkey bars and they stop doing it for no apparent reason.
- Once again with too much computer.  The sims have always been really bad about hogging stuff.  At least they don't hog the musical instruments so much now.
- Just like eating food and it taking hours because they have a need to talk, doing homework is the same thing.  Stop talking to your kid while they're trying to do their darn homework!
- Dropping queues when you instruct them to do something next.  I've even had my sims cut what I told them to do for something I told them to do next.
- Losing the ability to do anything with my family while they are at work / school.  Losing control of my family shouldn't ever be an issue.  If I want to look at inventory / relationship / work info, I should be able to.
- Sims making forty drinks at the bar and never drinking any of them.  They just sit there and go bad.
- Many interactions and information being nested really far down inside of things.  Like you want your sim to eat a certain leftover because it will go bad or they have a want to eat it, you cannot just click on the fridge and choose to eat leftovers, you have to open the fridge and then choose the stuff you want to eat...  Or you want to find out what your person needs to level their career and you have to mouse over stuff to check on it.

I know I have other issues but I really can't think of them at the moment.  I came here to MATY to see if there was an Awesome Mod out for the game yet.  Smiley  I will keep waiting.

2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Bonehilda on: 2012 September 17, 20:57:08
That photo of Bonehilda in the DJ booth is amazingly funny.   Grin

I'm glad that there is a topic here about Bonehilda.  I was starting to think she was pretty amazing, but then she started waking the toddler up to tickle him...  and the snuggle to infinity thing is a little weird.  Then she kept getting out orange juice containers and cereal bowls and bread and jam, only to put them away so that my sims would eat them as leftovers from the fridge.  She has never cooked, although I did catch her scarfing down a frozen dinner at the table one day.  Perhaps she has too much 'nanny' coding and, just like the TS2 old nannies, would attempt to cook only to leave it on the counter to spoil.  I, honestly, don't want an NPC to cook for my sims.  I cannot use a butler for that reason, as I normally run vampires or the like...  the butlers simply spend money left and right to try to feed people who don't eat.  My Bonehilda waters the plants, except for the ones I put behind a locked gate to keep the darn zombies from eating them.  I haven't run a home with laundry yet.  I have her coffin in the detached garage and she cleans the entire three story home and, aside from her harassing the babies / toddlers, she seems pretty helpful.

Perhaps if someone could completely remove any instance of hunger from her code so she stops trying to eat and fix the snuggle / train to infinity issue, she'd be worth a whole lot more.  Smiley

This has been happening to me for a while now, but since I reported it last I was able to update my computer to something a little nicer.  It seems that when I have AM installed, my sims will not do random things around the house on their own.  SC is fine and all, but it constantly tries to make them bathe the pets when put on random.  Without SC, they just stand there and will not even perform basic self maintenance even when on 100% free will.  Sometimes I just want my sims to be...  Well...  Sims.  Smiley  Is there something I'm overlooking?  I love AM, but I also want the option to have my peoples just be random.

Otherwise, no issues...  Thank you, Pes.

The final decision to use a car or not as part of routing is still determined by some EAxian code. Does this failure to use a car and instead run across the entire neighborhood occur when the sims doing so are the active household, or only when they are not? Does everyone have their own car? If sims are sharing a car, it is possible that one sim hogs the car and forgets to return it, thus resulting in sims being deprived of the car.
I choose not to use driveways in my homes because the sims will park their cars and leave them there when they go to work or whatever, so the ones who have cars have them in their inventory.  The sims I was referring to are all in the active family, though I have seen inactive sims make the '8 hour trek' you spoke of in your other post.  I do not blame SC or anything Awesome and was quite sure it was either something I did wrong or something EAxis thought a feature.  I was just wondering, mostly, if it was an isolated issue, a problem specific to Appaloosa Plains, or something that might have 'broke' when the RHoG was having problems.  I do not mind watching my Vampires take off running, it still makes me happy, even if I have to babysit my pregos a little more.
5  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod Request Thread on: 2011 December 04, 10:17:22
I did a quick search on genetics and didn't see this issue, so sorry if it's already been mentioned.
I'm wondering if you can work your awesome magic on the offspring of our pets.  Apparently if a beige horse has a baby with a brown horse, the resulting spawn will look something like this:
Link to prevent stretching.

*facepalm*
As with pets in the sims 2, they all work on layering different coats and markings on top of each other.  Imagine my surprise when I bred a black unicorn and a white unicorn and got a brown and white foal with a huge butterfly mark spread across it's body.  Odd.  Unfortunately, the genetics for pets are probably going to be just as they are with the layer system randomly applying during the spawning process...
I agree with the horse mating thing, and can add that this HORROR also rears its nose when trying to mate, say a brown or black horse with a white one. I will upload a pic if necessary. but the resulting foal, in my game at least, was half brown and half white. LITERALLY.

In addition to that, can an issue with unicorn spawning in Hidden Springs be investigated? I've been trying to see one for ages, and, though my Sims get the memory for having seen it, and get wishes to watch it, I cannot see the damn thing. EVER. Paused the game, looked around n times. Restarted the game, waited until the next evening, looked around, no sign of it. All this, of course, with the multicoloured cloud thingy which appears above the place where an unicorn spawns. This also happens in a new game. Am I the only one?
Alternatively, perhaps a shift-click spawn unicorn command? I could work with that, but I kinda wanted a unicorn (or at least the possibility of getting one) without the tombola that is Nraas instant impregnation and hoping for a unicorn (the name of the unicorn is provided by the watch [name here] horse wish).
Wild unicorns that spawn naturally can be very hard to see if they happen to be black.  Mine tend to stand by the rocks and trees and the only real way to get to them is if I wave my mouse where the 'Moonlit Unicorn' lights end and the cursor turns into a sim icon.  The white ones are much easier to see, of course.  I get unicorn spawns at both of the fishing areas, though more often at the one that isn't the hatchery or whatever that is.
6  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Bug Report Thread on: 2011 December 04, 09:42:36
I have not seen this posted, so I am assuming it is something blowing up in my own game again but as usual I will mention it just in case.

Recently, as in since the RHoG was fixed, I have noticed that my sims will not be instructed to use their cars when going to and from rabbit holes to collect funds while on SC.  As stated before, I tend to run vampire households, so their speed while running isn't all that terrible, but it seems rather odd to have them running clear across town to carry out an order instead of jumping into their car.  I don't really mind it except that the last time they all went collecting SC kept dragging my pregnant sim out of the house, hungry and unable to run, to waddle across town.  Cheesy

I am currently playing in Appaloosa Plains, if that matters any.  I have noticed them running about during other activities as well, but I cannot recall the actual scenarios, it is just most common while collecting funds.

Thank you.

The Robotic Hand of God doesn't seem to be cleaning up dishes, ice cream containers, juice jars, old newspapers, etc. like it used to. I checked my config and it is enabled, so not sure what's up...
Same, I was thinking it was something I put in my game, but I guess it isn't.  I've been using the HoG manually instead.  I never realized how much I relied on that feature until now when I see all the plasma juice thingers laying around. Cheesy  I am always first to assume stupidity on my part rather than a problem with the mod, which is why I am still wondering what I did to break vampire children being able to eat on SC...
8  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Bug Report Thread on: 2011 November 10, 01:53:49
My sims all have free will on and set to highest.  So I'm not sure what their deals are. Smiley

But also:

In my game I tend to run vampire famblies the most...  SC seems to be unable to handle hungry children.  Kids will be set to SC and when it comes time to eat they will get the action to eat, they are unable to select a meal, the action will drop and SC will try again.  I've tried putting left-overs into the fridge, but they won't eat left-overs, make a quick-meal or drink plasma juice.  I usually have to feed them manually.  As usual, I am not sure if this is a problem in my game only, or what, but I thought I'd post it.

Thank you.  Smiley

Just some feed back. I believe your still working with the new Pets Ep, so I just wanted to state a problem I discovered. Twice now I have had a cat go off the grid, and am unable to get them home. They are stuck out in an area they can not return from. They are slowly starving to death, and nothing I have tried has set them on the path home. I just installed Awsome Mod today, and until it was installed I had not encountered this problem before. I am attempted to reload the game now, and hoping it resets my cat.

Edit: Restarting the game didn't seem to help. Poor kitty is still stuck. Any ideas?
I've had this happen to human sims, I just use the reset command on them.

Also:
Not sure if this is something I am doing wrong or what, but my sims seem to have no free will.  In any house I play, even in a new hood, the sims will just stand around doing nothing, to the point of starvation and peeing themselves unless I direct them or have them on some form of SC.  Pets seem fine, but humans just stand there.  I have AM, Master Controller 5, Woohooer 7 and miscellaneous downloads and store crap that doesn't affect behavior.

Any ideas here?  Smiley

It was small for me (1920x1080 as well, and it does indeed look much crappier on lower resolutions) but I just moved my monitor closer. Tada!
Sigh. Not exactly the kind of high-tech assistance I was hoping for from a community famous for Sims mods Cry

Plea for help buried under a debate about whether or not people with penises make better games. I really wasn't expecting that.

Yep, sounds about right for this place...  At least you didn't get the grammar squad up on your butt.  Smiley

Shame on you, Maxis...   Angry
Really? Maxis? Shame on you for thinking this was going to be any different than Stories or Castaway.

I never played either of those because they were obviously story packs.  This one, however, did not say it was a story pack it said it was a new base game.  If it were advertised as a story like Stories or Castaway, I either would not have purchased it or I would have expected it to be lacking.

The game died on me pretty fast now, it was good at first, I finally got my kingdom where I wanted it. And hey I unlocked the next part! What's this? I have to start ALL OVER AGAIN?! On the same map? With the same damn quests? And the same damn buildings? Yeah...it's dead to me now.

Hahaha, yup.  You can take a favorite hero by questing him or her to start a new kingdom, thus starting new with whatever level, looks and legendary, or lack there-of, traits...  Except that you lose all your relationships, your offspring, your spouse, all memories of your old profession and your cash...  Woo...
12  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Sims Medieval on: 2011 March 27, 04:41:09
My main question is really...  What was Maxis thinking?!

I got this game on the pretense in one of their own ads saying that it was open-ended gameplay and that's about as misleading as could possibly be.  Sure you can play...  But you can't really play...  Pff.  Since it was marked as a base game I, of course, assumed that it would be another TS3.

In TS2 I had an entire neighborhood set up as a 'kingdom'.  I had a castle with the monarchs in it and around them were a few knight towers and then the houses after that.  The problem with that 'kingdom' was that no-one actually knew they were who they were.  It was fun to play but also quite saddening.  I was hoping that this game would be the answer.

I like the game alright as far as the game is concerned, I guess, but I do not like the game as far as the SIMS go.  No aging, no genetics, no way to control anything about the lives of your spouse or your children...  Hell you can't even dress the little jerks!  My Princess was running around in a peasant's dress, no shoes and a bowl haircut.  After a game like TS3 where we had all of these nice options, this game is such a major disappointment.  The only thing I like about it is that it runs pretty good on my crappy computer.  Cheesy

Shame on you, Maxis...   Angry

I know this subject was talked about but was left when everyone went off to poke at some lulz...  I wanted to talk about my experience with the freezing bug.

When this occurs, it's usually when a sim exits one room and enters another and time does not always stop.  I have had a sim be late for work because it took him an hour to get around the corner and out to the carpool.  I seem to only play Riverview, if that matters.  I wish I could be more help in tracking down whatever this is because it can be a real pain.  It might be funny if they didn't waste so much time...  Kind of like only having an hour before you have to leave and not being able to flush the stupid toilet...  Sims...  Sheesh.

I had come mainly to lurk and find out if AM was compatible with HELS, woot, it is...  But would really love to see this bug squishified.

I will save my 'hood when it happens next and post it if it'll help.  Smiley  Perhaps the pay version will freeze less.  Smiley

(Random funny...  When I first started here I really thought this was a pay site and was amazed when I was able to 'hack' into it and create my account for free by following a link posted on another site.  Woo for noobs...  lulz!)
14  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Beta Testing 1.7.9/WA 2.2.8 Problems/Questions/Discussion on: 2009 November 24, 04:58:51
Just the other day I sent my guy to Egypt for a second time.  A friend of his there had died of old age prior to that, but when he appeared at the base he had a negative moodlet of witnessing death, his LAST NAME was changed to the one person's last name AND he'd gained an adult daughter with a woman I'm not sure he even really knew that well...  And even the 'daughter's' half-sibling was in his relationship panel.
I had basically the exact same problem the other day. I sent my girl to Egypt with her daughter because her dad was from Egypt but when I got there she was heartbroken from witnessing death of some old random guy. I was looking through relationships to see if he was still there via bugs when I saw a teenage boy with the family icon. 'Son'. The old guy I saw in family tree had taken my last name and now I had this almost full grown son, in Egypt no less.

I guess Egypt is full of body snatchers!  Beware of Egypt!
15  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Beta Testing 1.7.9/WA 2.2.8 Problems/Questions/Discussion on: 2009 November 23, 21:08:23
The EP has so many bugs, even without mods, that it's scary.

Once, sending my people to China, the game loaded at the base and I had no sims to play, and when I got back to town the husband had a moodlet that they died (witnessing death and heartbroken).  They (mother and daughter) were still in his relationships as long distance.  He called them, invited them over and asked them to move back in.

The food spoilage thing...

I'm sure many others as well that I just haven't come across.  I realize that this is the discussion for the Beta Testing, but I thought that knowing these existed before the Mod was installed might help future testing...  In case this happens in a testing game, one might see that it's the base game corruption and not the work of AwesomeMod.

The rate of sim deaths in my game sky-rocketed with Seasons.  The culprits were the hot tubs of death.  I become attached to my sims and I take good care of them, so it bothers me when I get an "accidental" death that I didn't plan.   Grin  Awnings and roofs both work to keep out the lightening and the warmth fix mod keeps them from catching fire quite so much.  I have the ACR mod and I made a brothel in my 'hood...  My one poor girl died three times from lightening strikes in the hot tub, as well as my daughter's favorite sim who was visiting one of my houses.  Since adding cover over the tubs and getting the warmth fix mod, I have a lot fewer hot tub related deaths and that suits me just fine.

Speaking of resolutions...

My boyfriend got me a wide screen monitor for Christmas and I love it...  Except the Sims doesn't work correctly in WS mode.  The CAS option panel actually blocks most of the sims face while in close up view, doing make-up or hair or whatever.  I am not sure why it makes the option box so close, it's a wiiiiiide screeeeen...  But if I try to run the game in normal screen mode everything just looks short and wide...

Thank you all for your help.  Does anyone know what happens in SimPe if you click the tick box to not use a skin...  will the sims that have the skin still be okay it just won't pass down?  The tutorial doesn't say and I can't find anything on the SimPe site saying what that tick box actually does.  Also, does it matter if your custom skins have the same genetic number as another skin or is that a no-no?   Huh

This bug is really funny.  My daughter plays my 'hood with me and her one simmy has a business.  For some reason she had a pool on her business lot and during winter the employees would path through the pool on their way to restock or do sales or whatever.  There were plenty of spaces to go around it and it wasn't in the middle or anything, but she finally took the pool out because of it.
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: It's raining ghosts on: 2007 May 10, 09:22:26
I read on this site somewhere that lightening rods help keep trees and things from being struck.  Since then, I have added a lightening rod to the roofs of the houses I have played and haven't seen a single burning tree.  The only thing is that the rods won't save your sims from being struck while in a hot tubs.

Hum I didn't know SimPE did that...   Grin

Thanks, I will look up the material you two suggested and see if I can't fix these things.
