The latest latest update of nopartyresearch is also working fine now.  Smiley

The latest version of nopartyresearch hack is throwing errors when sims attempt to do research. The error came up when they tried to do group research while on macro>college rampage. They couldn't be manually directed to do so either because clicking on a bookcase would also cause an error. Same thing happens when I tried on the career reward bookcase.

Party guests (playable YAs) seem to have stopped trying to do research entirely though. Usually, I'll see the fireplace in their thought bubbles at least once during a party but not this time. Or if they had tried, I guess I would probably have gotten an error message too.

Which bookcases are you using?  Are they custom bookcases?

The bookcase is from TJ's  Buyable Career/Aspiration Reward Objects that Pioupiou updated for Seasons before TJ got around to it.

Ahh.  Ok, so it's guest YAs, not dormies?

Right, guest YAs, not dormies. I also played with the bookcase in the hacked rewards collection, thinking that it won't be visitor enabled but apparently it doesn't apply to YAs. Sad

Is this for sims who start researching during a party already in progress?

Well, it's the guests that does. Or at least they try to. The bookcase is on the second floor next to a fireplace. I had turned the bookcase towards the wall so the fireplace is in the way. It's understandable when they try to do it before the party controller kicks in, but they'd still try to do it after the party meter is already ticking away. Every time someone attempts to do research, they'd have a fireplace in their thought bubbles that pretty much alerts me to what they were trying to do. I'd check their personalities when I see the thought bubbles and the ones that are both outgoing and playful are trying to do research too.

I haven't tried playing dorms this time round. There are only 12 playables in this batch and they are all living in greek houses.

Re: Less Autonomous College Research (or No Party Research) Hack

I currently have 2 greek houses with 6 residents on each lot. They've thrown about a dozen toga parties combined. If the exceptions for doing autonomous college research is the same as less autonomous college assignment, then this hack isn't working because outgoing and playful sims also try to do research anyway with parties in progress.
7  Ye Olde Simmes 2 Archives: Dead Creators / Ye Olde Syberspunke Archives / Re: Testers Wanted: Less Autonomous College Assignment (Updated 4/11/2006) on: 2007 June 15, 00:38:48
Syberspunk, this mod seems sorta broken in Seasons although it's listed as compatible here.

Party guests whip out assignments when I lock the doors to prevent access to the bookcases located on the second floor. I thought at one point that I had forgotten to drop this mod in my Downloads folder. They may be all platinum sims but these YAs have maxed out grade meters, the parties were at Greek lots and almost all out of the 6 guests are at least 3 in playful and outgoing.

Edit: Update on the seeming 'brokenness'. I don't know if it was just a fluke or simply that I remembered things wrong but I could have sworn they were trying to do assignments with maxed out grade meters during parties. And now they've stopped doing that. Embarrassed But they definitely still attempt to do group research while a party is in progress even with the companion No Party Research hack installed.

It's a nightmare when the barista does this. I took a household of 6 to Pleasantview's Woodland Park to work on their fishing badges. It was the last day of spring and there were still occasional showers. My sims were macro-caffeinating when it started to rain and everything seemed to grind to a halt in front of the coffee cart. The barista and the sim trying to order a cup of coffee just stood there motionless. They weren't even blinking. I was unwilling to make the coffee guy selectable at first because the game will just spawn a new one if I did. When I finally did, there was a 'It's Raining!' reaction in the barista's action queue. Man! I ended up exiting to the neighbourhood. It would be great if the barista doesn't do it again. Sad
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: LTW's on: 2007 March 27, 06:41:56
I've tried maxing out politics, health and sports, as those are the only ones I can think of that would be relevant to the military career.  My sims then roll up LTWs for Mayor, Chief of Staff and Hall of Famer.  But not for General.  It seems that not even Popularity sims get it when I have ltwvariety in my game.

It seems personality affects LTWs too. Maybe your sims are too nice, or not active enough, something like that. I have 2 Popularity sims in my game and they manage to roll LTWs for becoming General.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: LTW's on: 2007 March 26, 23:21:19
Some LTWs, such as General, I rarely (if ever) saw in my game.  I was using the mod to give a wider choice of career LTWs to my family sims - but it only added one that I could see (culinary).

Could it be that they didn't have enough interest points relevant to the LTW you'd like them to roll? For example, if a sim has no or low interest in crime, they'll never want to be Captain Hero or Criminal Mastermind.
11  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims stuck on the lot but not really on: 2007 March 26, 18:05:09
I wish it was that simple, but that option never appeared on the lot debugger. They weren't even 'off-world', or else they wouldn't be on the phone list. Undecided

Am I the only one with this problem? Sims go on dates, dates show up but weren't greeted (either because I didn't know better and stupidly cancelled 'greet' or the action timed out and dropped off automatically from the queue) and then they get 'stuck'?

Edit: I *think* it has something to do with not greeting dates, but I'm not 100% sure of course.  I've been trying to find out why some sims were stuck after a date, so after coming back to the base neighbourhood to play, I usually use the 'throw party' option to confirm nobody's invisibly stuck on the lot before a date. I forgot to check while playing earlier, but the teen I mentioned in the first post was the only one in the family to have gone on dates since the family moved in. They've thrown 2 birthday parties for her little brother and I remember being able to invite 20 guests. She didn't go on any dates before that.
12  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Sims stuck on the lot but not really on: 2007 March 26, 16:12:16
Sometimes, after my sims went on home dates, the dates would be kinda stuck on the lot. I say "kinda" because they aren't really there, they still remain on the phone list and can be invited over via the phone. However, they are missing from email lists and they won't show up for parties even though they could be added to the invite list. Another tell-tale sign is the maximum number of visiting sims had suddenly gone down from the max 20 I had set with the startup cheat. Yet there's nobody to clear off with the teleporter painting/bush (I use Merola's mirror, the dates' names aren't on it so that's how I know) so I can't fix it.

I first noticed this problem on Uni lots and used the lot debugger to force errors and somehow managed to fix it. Not that I knew what I was doing, but because those were Uni rental lots and I won't care that much even if I messed it up beyond repair. I deleted some in-world/off-world invisible stuffs like 'Be Greeted Emitter' and whatever sounded like it had something to do with the 'stuckiness'. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't because I have no idea what I was really looking for and some stuffs I don't dare delete in case that messed up my character files.

It happened again while I was playing a family in the base neighbourhood earlier. Teen went on several home dates and suddenly I can only invite 19 sims. I suspect this may have something to do with not greeting her date the first time. Well, it looked that way to me because I was playing home dates on another lot yesterday and not all were 'stuck'. I thought about it and figured the reason some of those dates didn't end up getting 'stuck' was that they had been greeted.

Lots outside the Uni neighbourhood I care about, so how should I go about fixing this other than pushing buttons blindly or relocating my sims?
13  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Dude, what happened to the food in my inventory? on: 2007 March 19, 15:20:26
Yes installing or updating the lot debugger or the lot sync timer (one of these hacks or the other or both) causes a reset in my game.

That was weird. I don't use the sync timer, and I don't recall ever seeing resets with lot debugger updates.
14  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Dude, what happened to the food in my inventory? on: 2007 March 19, 10:03:13
What do you mean? Just installing the Lot Debugger will cause a reset? Or are you referring to the use of its 'Force Error' feature?

It's bizarre to me that their food was wiped. I suspect maybe in my case, the game got confused when it was generating a best-of-the-best award for grandpa's inventory at the comm lot business.
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Moving in Townies on: 2007 March 18, 11:33:31
I never figured out how to use the trash bin thingy. Embarrassed Do you just click to select an item in inventory, then click on the trash bin icon to delete? I kept trying and never got it to work.

Odd; the only items I can't delete in this way are foods.
[/quote]

Darn. I had tried it on the pre-made YAs living in dorms where I had them stockpiling food before moving them into rental lots. Well, now I know why it didn't work for me. Lips sealed

16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Moving in Townies on: 2007 March 17, 17:42:38
And I think you can send inventory items to the little trash bin in the inventory and completely lose the value--they're just gone.

17  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Dude, what happened to the food in my inventory? on: 2007 March 17, 17:22:04
I haven't been checking the DC for new goodies and didn't even know about 'Don't Shoot Food'. Tongue The wiping clean of their inventories of anything edible happened without 'DSF' installed.

Prior to the incident, food could be dragged and dropped manually or transferred from one sim's inventory to another without any issues. There was no problem with macrotastics where sims eat out of their own inventory if their hunger level was too low or snarf food from someone else's inventory if they don't have enough cooking skills either. But this was all on the home lot. Anyway, I can't re-produce the scenario. Bah!

I made a copy of my game, extracted 'DSF' into Downloads and fired up the game. Had the elders 'make many' a few group meals then drive to the comm lot business. I had them serve a few plates of the freshly made food then dropped the platters back into their inventories. Nothing vanished. Grabbed a few platters from one sim's inventory to another just to mix it up and still no problem. Had them drive home, checked again when they arrived on the home lot and all the food was still there.

Exited the game, removed 'DSF' from Downloads, fired up the game. Had elders 'make many' some more food, transferred some serving platters between their inventories just in case that made any difference. Had them drive back to the comm lot business. Checked their inventories when they arrived, food still intact. Served a few plates then dropped them back in their inventories. Checked again. Food still intact. Cleaned up all the single plates of food sitting on the tables, paused the game, put the sims on macro>Be Salesperson. Dragged their hunger bars into the red, un-pause. Macrotastics made it so one of the sims grab a platter of food from inventory so both could eat. Platter of food was then auto-magically placed back into inventory. Checked again and food was still intact. Basically, I just can't re-produce the vanishing act no matter what I did.

Something I thought was strange when my sims' inventories was wiped clean was after their reporter friend showed up uninvited, sometime after the teen ate his sandwich but before macrotastics sent a hungry adult to grill some food. He gave the business a good review and seconds later, a best-of-the-best award. I've never had businesses receive more than one anything in a single visit. Anyway, I wanted to grab the best-of-the-best award from the owner's inventory and place it in the world near the ticket machine and that's when I found my playables' inventories had been wiped. I don't remember about the adults, but the elders had been given another copy of their diplomas. Man, they each already have one of those hanging at home. I'd much rather take the food.
18  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Dude, what happened to the food in my inventory? on: 2007 March 17, 12:15:53
I read about the patches issue, but the thing is, I had installed all patches before restarting the neighbourhood. The only patch I installed after I had started playing was the Bodyshop one. And then my sims was able to pull serving platters/bowls with the macro without any problem before the owned comm lot incident. Undecided Grrr. I hope it's a one time glitch.
19  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Dude, what happened to the food in my inventory? on: 2007 March 17, 11:58:54
Everything edible vanished from my playables' inventories while they were manning the shop. That's not supposed to happen, is it? I've never played an owned community lot prior to this incident.

I allowed a sim who already owns a home business to fulfill his 'Purchase a community lot' want. He bought the Maple Springs Pool & Spa and I took him there early in the morning to do some renovation and setting up before opening for business. The 'customerselector' thingy was set to allow only NPCs, the electrono ticket machine was activated then I had him call and invite his NPC friends. I had checked his inventory a few times throughout the day and the food was still there when he left at the end of the first day.

Second time he went back to the business, I had the whole family follow. Well, except the pets. They were too busy barking and didn't manage to get into the car. The same five NPC friends were invited to visit when they opened for business at 7am. The teen in the family got hungry with all that dazzling, but his needs weren't all low enough for a trip to the energizer. There was one plate of grilled cheese sandwich in his inventory so I pulled it manually from his inventory for him to eat. This was before noon, and nobody's missing food from their inventories still. After the teen ate, I decided to buy a grill and have him make hotdogs and hamburgers for the customers on the lot so they stay a little longer. I dunno when it happened - before the grill or after - but the next time I looked, everything edible in my playables' inventories were gone.

My sims had been on Macro>Be Salesperson. The macro set one of my playables on macro>eat. I caught the action and cancelled it out before she could make any food because I wanted her to use a platter from her inventory. That's when I found out all the food in their inventories had been wiped clean. (See, I have my sims max out their skills, then spend about a day and a half cooking everything available on the menu usually before they go to college). All the group meals my 2 elders, 2 adults and 1 teen 'made many', they are all gone, not even a lousy bowl of cup o' ramen left. Where did the food go? No error logs had been generated, except for the ones I forced. But it was on the clothing racks and only because they were stuck in use after the customers decided to leave with a buy bar still hovering over their heads. I have all EPs except Seasons. Every EP is patched except Pets.

Anyone know what's going on?

21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do I make art appreciate? on: 2007 March 13, 10:36:54
I always thought depreciation or rise in value for art objects is random. Undecided I don't know about art objects by other modders, but I have Merola's Multi-painting and sometimes it sells for a few dollars above the purchase price of $399. Maxis items don't always depreciate too. As for paintings done by sims, I know it's possible for them to depreciate in value if the finished paintings had been left on the easel for some time.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Townie Keep Memories on: 2007 February 24, 14:41:26
Well then, how are you planning to move the townies in? If it's by marrying them, Syberspunk's hack might work in that scenario too. Remember to backup before you try though.
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: too many professors... on: 2007 February 24, 00:22:35
If you have InSim, or any of the other hacks (Merola's mind controller or Dolphins thingamajig), you could make the prof selectable.  Couldn't you check to see that way?

I have Merola's mirror and IIRC, making the profs selectable will only show you they are 'Unemployed' but not which majors they are assigned to.

I used SimPE (the University tab will display a major for the profs) to check and rename the profs so that their names include which majors they are supposedly assigned to for easy identification, but I'm not entirely sure if SimPE displayed the correct information though since I also use TJ's No Meeting Professors hack. If SimPE is correct, then the only stalker-ish profs aren't just the drama ones.
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: "No action is available" On Visiting Sim... What Tha? on: 2007 February 18, 23:56:51
Anyway they're never supposed to be interacted with. It won't mess up your game, but the Sims won't work normally so they're best ignored.

One-sided interaction is messed up IMHO. Undecided Pisses me off just to see them appear in the phone book with one of the OFB perks where a business owner can call anyone in a neighbourhood. Tongue
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: "No action is available" On Visiting Sim... What Tha? on: 2007 February 18, 23:37:08
Did I inadvertently cause this crap to happen by trying to make them mutual friends while she wasn't there, and/or because he was in the process of going to work?

The first 3 carpool drivers spawned are always Amber Hiatt, Celeste Rossi and David Thompson. Same names, same faces every time I re-install or re-start a neighbourhood. Your game is messed up because carpool drivers can't be interacted with in the first place and making your playable sims acquainted with them is a bad thing AFAIK.

I've never come across carpool drivers doing a walk by either.
