Isn't slapper British or Australian for a tart or a whore?

Yes.

The thought of John Burb being the neighbourhood slapper is one almost too disturbing to contemplate.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this or not, but I can't find anything with Search.  It may be intended, but it's still annoying.  Basically, when I send someone to restock, they never stop.  Even if everything is fully restocked, they just keep wandering around as if they're looking for something else.  This makes it hard to tell when they've actually finished.  Anyone else getting this?

I think that's as designed, probably so you can assign a worker to the task and they'll keep doing it as more things are bought up.

I'm not using any hacks, so it's not to do with that.

Oh, for Christ's sake!  Angry This was the most fun thing to do in the game. Good going, Maxis.

To be fair, Maxis never did plan for people to be able to use a wedding arch in a chapel, demonstrated by the fact that it's not available on a community lot.   We had to use a cheat, or a hack in order to place an arch on a comm. lot.   So I'm expecting that sooner or later a modder will come out with a hacked version of the arch which will work again.  Hopefully before I have a batch of sims to be married Smiley

Well, yeah. But the whole community lot wedding deal has become quite a big thing, and a lot of people enjoy doing it. You'd think they'd appreciate that instead of breaking it completely so nobody can do it anymore. But then, why care about how people like to play their individual games?

Another gripe, although not really what you'd call a problem per se - all the stupid new outfits and headgear in the catalogue are like, right at the front. Put the diver's helmet AT THE BACK OF THE CATALOGUE, along with other stupid stuff like the viking horns and the hat with the propeller. You can still have your little "made for this particular expansion pack" icon in the corner, but put them away if nobody's going to use them regularly! For the love of sweet baby jesus!

Also, I put in a coffee/barista machine in my furniture store and my playable sim became obsessed with it. Every free moment she either making herself one or lining up to be served.

Same here. She'll stop doing her work to hang around at the espresso bar drinking endless cups of coffee (then peeing herself because she'd rather drink more than go to the toilet). I'm not using any hacked machines.

One thing I've noticed that I don't think anyone has mentioned yet is that you can no longer get married on community lots.  Has anyone else had this?  I spent ages building an awesome chapel with some of the cool new roof tools, turned it into a residential lot to place the arch and then turned it back again in the usual way.  Sent a couple of engaged sims over there and the arch is not selectable.  Really annoying.
Oh, for Christ's sake!  Angry This was the most fun thing to do in the game. Good going, Maxis.

I've played quite faithfully up until now, but the relative complexity with the OPB expansion coupled with the usual bugs and stupid rubbish is really making me consider binning the entire game altogether. I'm starting to wonder if it's actually still fun at all.

I had fun in college by throwing parties, going to community lots, woohooing, working on greek house levels, etc.  Basically, by not studying.   Cheesy  I did this in my sims game too.   Wink

Going to university is useful for popularity sims, particularly ones with the 20 best friends LTW. It's awful for just about everybody else, apart from perhaps romance sims (but it does tend to get a bit hairy sometimes if you're not careful).

Unless you have the eyes of J.M Pescado, I'd imagine.

Thanks for the update, JM!

It could also be that your game has an infestation of Jamaicans.

Me lost me love, oh!

"Heyy mann!
Well, we will try to find me love but there is no guarantee."
Oh! Me lost me love, oh!

So, any thoughts on this?

This is possibly the best basis for a Sims story I have ever heard. Seriously.  Cheesy

But no useful thoughts, I'm afraid.
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Toddler blush on: 2005 December 07, 19:30:44
I thought those were the bruises they got from being slapped around by their pimp. And why would you want to put that on a baby? That's just sick, man. Sick.

Er, yes. I just assumed that was blusher, rather than pimp-marks. I don't actually know all that much about the ins-and-outs of hookerdom. If you'll pardon the pun.

That's real male ignorance!  Most women wear blusher when they make their face up, just most men probably don't realise it if it's subtle and well applied!

*roars with laughter*

I've been called many things, but this is the first time I've been called a male chauvinist.

No, not anemia, what's a blusher? Is that kind of lewd joke?

Red powder that you put on your cheeks. You know, the stuff hookers wear to "define" their cheekbones.
38  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: best way to prune custom hair packages? on: 2005 December 06, 21:15:25
I hope somebody can, because I was trying last night to find out how to do this.

I know for a fact I've seen it outlined very recently, but can't recall where.
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Winrar has hijacked my zip files!! on: 2005 December 04, 23:13:51
It doesn't change them, I agree, but it does mean you can't find anything that's in a rar file without opening it.

You can't find anything that's in a zip file without opening it either.  Huh

Or do you mean you need to extract a rar before you can see it's contents? If you double-click to open, you can navigate the folders from the winrar window.
40  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Winrar has hijacked my zip files!! on: 2005 December 04, 00:19:25
I was downloading a couple of the MATY Sims in Peasantry and when I had to use Winrar to extract them, it seems all of my downloaded stuff has 'converted' to rar files!  Angry

How do I get them back to zip files?

It's a superior file format, anyway. Smiley

Well, to me that's not free.  It isn't a 'freeware' program--they do expect payment

Rubbish.

They'd like payment, but they don't force you to give them one. They give you a fully-functioning program with a reminder that if you like it, you can always buy it - just like UltimateZip, in fact.

I never even see their reminder because I use the right-click functions instead of opening the program itself. Hence I actually tend to forget that I'm only using a trial.

Also, how about the fireman has put out the meal that the stupid Sim set the place on fire with, so just throw it away already!

God, no. If they burnt it, they should eat it. I don't care if it's got Fireman's Foam in it.

Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
42  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: bogarting the hot tub ? on: 2005 November 29, 12:19:47
so...  is the love tub any different to a regular hot tub?

I've not noticed any difference myself...  it just seems to be a hot tub that can be bought with aspiration points instead of cash - any other advantages? the overall purpose? and what happens if it's used at a low aspiration level?

in my game - the only thing different is the floaty hearts and flowers, but it's entirely possible there's something I'm just not noticing.

I don't know if CuriousSpurious is right about the romantic interactions without falling in love - but I think it does make certain romantic interactions more likely to be accepted.

There's no penalty for using it with a low aspiration level.
43  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: bogarting the hot tub ? on: 2005 November 29, 05:42:04
My sim has over 300,000 aspiration points.

I did attempt to buy a new tub to see if that was the problem. That didn't fix it though.

How do you know if your tub has lost some charge? I think if you have a few people using it then it would lose some charge, right?

It just acts like I don't have the hack installed at all. I'm wondering if it is conflicting with some other hack I have installed, although the only hacks I have are from JM, twojeffs, or the inteenimater/insimenator stuff.

Is the option to recharge supposed to show up when you click on the object?

That's a bit strange. The love tub slowly loses its charge when people use it. I think you can only recharge if nobody's using it at the time (and it needs charged up, obviously). You just click on it after a while when nobody's using it and it'll say "recharge, XX asp points".
I don't know what the problem might be. I don't use any of the insimenator stuff, but pescado's hacks usually behave quite well with it from what I've heard.

Odd.
44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: bogarting the hot tub ? on: 2005 November 29, 00:31:57
Odd how it didn't stop anybody getting into it uninvited, though. Was it a fresh tub?
45  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: still-life gone poof? on: 2005 November 28, 18:22:34
Hmm. I don't really have any suggestions. I did have a look around for you, because I know you can get your sims to paint an image on your hard drive that you specify using that screenshot.bmp file, but I didn't find anything to suggest that the images you capture to paint are actually stored once they've been painted. That's not very helpful. I dunno.  Undecided
46  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: still-life gone poof? on: 2005 November 28, 16:58:28
Are sim-painted pictures stored in the Storytelling folder? I thought only screen captures were.

I think if it's a still life or a portrait, it counts as a screencap - you need to take a screendump to get the image for the painting in the first place, anyway.

Remember if you've got Uni, then you've got two different storytelling folders.
47  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: A question about sims 'learning to study' on: 2005 November 28, 10:20:58
What does learning to study mean anyway? How does a sim learn it?

An older sim has to help them with their homework.
