1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Children's stool left behind at Mirror on: 2006 August 11, 08:25:18
When I first read the title of the thread, I thought you meant the other kind of "stool" and I did a double take! Heehee.
2  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Odd dual skintone problem (only top of head) on: 2006 August 10, 06:58:46
I think I may have resolved this issue as the skins are showing up normally again.
EDIT: Not quite....I still dunno what it is yet
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Odd dual skintone problem (only top of head) on: 2006 August 10, 03:53:42
It happens with all hair, but I chose the bald head so you could see it better.  Any hair which shows any of the scalp turns out that way whether it's custom or Maxis hair.  Cry
I did check out that thread, Katze, and the issue sounds similar.  I'm quite sure that I got rid of any defaults that I had, but I'm going to double check.
4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Odd dual skintone problem (only top of head) on: 2006 August 09, 20:44:13
Hi all,
I suddenly have had a weird occurance with all skin tones....For some reason the tops of sims heads have been showing as a different color!
LOL, I've seen this mentioned before, but only the entire heads awhile ago with simpe.  I can't seem to find any info on just the top of the head not showing.  I've taken out the default skintones and tried going into the game on sims that I didn't save prior to the problem and it's still there. THe top of the head problem does not seem to happen with custom skintones in game.
Also, when I try to export skin tones for creating, the same thing happens, only the whole face file in the adults is completely missing.  This happens with any and all skin tones, not just the original maxis ones. This is a strange problem, indeed, and I'm hoping someone can offer some sort of solution.
I'm can't imagine where that sort of problem would come from, and I'm wondering if anyone else has had such an issue.
I'd greatly appreciate any advice on the issue!
Thanks so much!

Here's a pic per request! Wink
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Patch is out for FFS on: 2006 May 10, 02:35:55
Um, Can I ask a question here? *ducks the flying spears*
I would like to uninstall FFStuff...I just don't like anything that it comes with (so boring)..
I don't know if my neighborhoods will be playable if I revert back to OFB by installing the FFSpack. Does anyone know if it would be harmful to do this?
I was thinking of updating it, but I haven't used a single thing that came with it.  It seems like a waste of space now, and I'd like it to go far away without too much trouble  Roll Eyes
Many thanks for any suggestions.

Heehee,
THanks for the link SimMoon....I checked out the bed by Carrigon, but the only problem is, the disease is not contagious, which takes all the fun out of it. Smiley
I was hoping she'd update it, but while reading the thread, I saw that she said she didn't want to put anymore time into it. Ah well, maybe I'll ask Shaklin. Smiley
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Best Nvidia Driver for OFB? Anybody know? on: 2006 May 09, 19:34:56
It's definitely the driver agcons.
I had the same problem while using the 7 and 8 version drivers.
I'm sticking with 6.14.00.10.7644 as it runs more smoothly than anything else I've tried. No artifacts, no crashes or blue screens and it can handle much bigger lots.  I'm happy once again. Smiley
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Disease Contagious? + Angry Employees on: 2006 April 28, 02:18:33
I always think it'd be great to see a hack for venereal diseases. LOL, I always think about the whorish sims in my neighborhood and wish there was some sort of price to pay for their promiscuity.  It only seems fitting that there should be a spreadable woohoo disease if there's a catchy flu virus .  Heehee, they could do the pee dance instead of hacking up a lung. Wink
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Best Nvidia Driver for OFB? Anybody know? on: 2006 April 20, 02:41:45
Hey,
I promised I'd give an update...
I have had no issues whatsoever for days now, playing quite a bit.  So, for sure, my problem is fixed.  Another thing I can suggest if using the driver I mentioned doesn't work for you is to try installing the driver that came on the cd with your card.  That's how I installed this working driver, and everything was fixed.  It was a retail driver, not a beta, that came with my cd.
Let me know if that helps if you get around to playing with it more.
Best of luck.

Hi Braveheart Smiley
I've tested overall around 8 hours and so far, no problems at all!
That is surely a record for me.  It used to happen within the first hour, and then continuously until I had to completely reboot my system.
It certainly can't hurt you to try it out, and it will save you lots of headaches if it ends up working.
Hope that helps, and if you decide to wait on installing, I'll surely keep you updated.  But, I really believe that this has finally fixed my issue.  My game was completely unplayable with the 8 series drivers, and the seven series were BETTER, but still would lock up eventually.  It just took a little longer with the 7 series drivers.  As far as this 6 series driver went, I played the game for at least 4 hours (in a row!), pushing it by using all sorts of large poly items, and graphics itensive things.  I have eveything within the game set to the highest level, and not a hiccup. It's certainly worth a try for you.

Here are my specs for you.

YAY, I believe 've finally fixed it!!!!!
I played for a few hours this evening, and NO problems whatsoever.  Not even the slightest bit of graphical problems. The game runs more smoothly than ever before, as the newer versions were quite sluggish for me, along with constantly locking up with the blue screen, and spawning strange pixelated artifacts.  None of that happened this evening, and I tested it out on my largest, most poly-intensive lot I have.  I tested it for hours in businesses with large quantities of objects to try pushing it to the limits.  I ran it in 1680x1050 (I have a widescreen) and it never even hiccupped. I was barely even able to run it in 1280x1024 with the 7 and 8 series of drivers.
What I finally did was do a clean install of the drivers I was using, and then reverted WAY back to my driver that came on a cd with my geforce 6200.

Here's the exact version in case anyone would like to try it out for themselves.  You should be able to find it on the nvidia site, or perhaps on nzone.
Driver Version: 6.14.00.10.7644

Hope it helps someone else.  It was a disaster of an issue, and now I am positive that it was the driver.  I think it's very important, before you downgrade, to uninstall the nvidia program using  add/remove in your control panel, and then download "driver cleaner" and do a clean up of your nvidia files.  That way you can be sure that you're running on a completely clean version of the driver with no remnants of the evil newer versions.
I'd be really interested to know if this helps anyone else, so be sure and let us know if you decide to try it out.
Good luck!
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Best Nvidia Driver for OFB? Anybody know? on: 2006 April 16, 02:06:43
Had something interesting happen last night. I had never gotten the blue screen/hourglass thing, until last night. I have been playing a week with not owning/operating a business, It was about 2 minutes after I Opened a home businiess and bingo, blue scsreen/hourglass crap. When you buy/open a business, new coding kicks in to manage said business. Wondering if anyone else might have noticed this as the point where issues began for them.
Just seemed kind of odd that I went a week with no issues, and the minute I open a business and kick the management tool in, I get the blue screen deal.

Yes, I've had this same problem...For some reason it seems to happen when there are more people on the lot, or when you've got a lot going on, be it customers or even something as simple as moving the camera around too fast.
I hate this issue, and I'll never buy another Geforce because of it.  My card, however, is quite new, so it will be awhile before I purchase another one.  Hopefully before then it will be addressed.  I've written to Maxis about it, and most of the reps have no clue, lol.  There's only one, named Angela B. who MIGHT be compentent enough to help me at some point. It seems that the reps have no idea that this problem even exists..
But, no matter which driver I use (and I've gone back a lot) this problem exists.  Only it manifests itself in different ways.  The 8 series totally freezes up the game and gives me the blue screen, and if I continue playing it after that has happened it eventually reboots me machine.  With the series 7 drivers, I can play a bit longer, but the game eventually crashes (weird pulsating type freeze) which locks up my whole system.
Another thing to note...With the 8 series, when I get the evil blue screen, once I"ve quit the sims and done other graphics intensive things, I usually have to restart my system due to artifacts that continue to exist.
The seriously sucks.  I hope more people will continue to try contacting ea and nvidia so that they can no longer avoid us. heehee
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims no longer lit up even with lights on? on: 2006 April 06, 00:07:34
Ah, ok...I'll try removing it and see if that helps.  I just wonder why it was fine before...
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Sims no longer lit up even with lights on? on: 2006 April 05, 22:44:55
Hi all,
I just did a complete reinstall of my game (due to nvidia driver issues) and now suddenly my sims are all dark, even with lights on.  Strangely, their hair is lit up, but otherwise, the sims themselves aren't reflecting any light.
I have been searching for nearly an hour now because I was sure I saw someone else that had this issue, but I can't seem to find that thread...It may have been from another site.
Has anyone else had this issue?  And is there anything I can do to fix it?
I do have radiance lighting installed, but oddly, I had it installed before I reinstalled the game, and I didn't have this issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much!
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How is the new OFB patch working for everyone? on: 2006 March 23, 04:26:40
 Huh
What about the problem Nvidia users are having with crashes....I didn't see that on there anywhere.. Cry
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Professors crash the game, OFB, anyone else? on: 2006 March 23, 04:20:40
Grrr, that really sucks!
I didn't know they had known about it previously....That definitely should have been addressed ahead of time since there are TONS of nvidia users....
I'm really surprised....
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Professors crash the game, OFB, anyone else? on: 2006 March 20, 03:38:41
MokeyHokey,
Have you tried any of the newer drivers before reverting back to the version 6 ones?  If so, did you notice any difference in the handle of large lots and such?
I'm very tempted to try out your "ancient" driver version Wink, but if it brings the fps to a crawl on larger lots, I wonder if I should just wait until they hopefully update it.
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Better Genetics? on: 2006 March 20, 02:38:17
I believe that only happens when both parents are using the default maxis skins.
If you're using custom skin tones, it will be one or the other of the two skin tones.
I really like that feature in the game, though!
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Professors crash the game, OFB, anyone else? on: 2006 March 20, 00:07:28
Just to let people know, I've tried the latest nvidia driver (version 84.21) and there's still no change....Still get the blue screen, however it doesn't seem to last as long as before....Now it only crashes for a minute or so, where it was nearly three minutes with version 81.98...
Still waiting on a fix.....Sad
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Professors crash the game, OFB, anyone else? on: 2006 March 16, 21:53:14
Ah, well it seems like more people are having this problem than I had imagined.  Since there are so many people, I'm really hoping it'll be addressed for all us poor nvidia users.  I've been using the older drivers, and they're working much better, however it doesn't handle the graphics nearly as well as the newer driver.  The newer driver was much faster for me, whereas the version 7 driver stutters and staggers under the weight of the game.  It also crashes once in awhile, but not nearly as often as the version 8 drivers.  So, for now, I'll settle for slower frames so that it's possible to actually play the game for more than a few minutes.  I do think that, since there are so many users experiencing this problem, it should be addressed sooner than later.  I tried writing to nvidia, but I couldn't seem to find my registration number for the graphics card..Does anyone know if it is on the actual papers that come with the card, or is it something you get via email once you've registered? Once I find it, I'll write and make a formal request for a fix for this issue.
Maybe if anyone else has the means to contact them (ie, still has their registration number for the graphics card), we could all try try to gang up on them and beg for a solution. Smiley
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Professors crash the game, OFB, anyone else? on: 2006 March 08, 07:04:08
Charamei, You and I have the same Graphics card....I have come to an almost certain conclusion that it's my graphics driver in conjunction from OFB so, it doesn't suprise me that you happen to have the same card.
I still have the issue, though not as often.  Just once or twice during a gameplay session.
AND, it happened to me, same as you, while transitioning between floors!
I have the latest nvidia driver...I hope they update it soon.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Professors crash the game, OFB, anyone else? on: 2006 March 05, 02:59:28
LOL!
I hear you, ZZ, some things have been really hard to get used to, and it's been even harder to understand the logic behind much of it.  Though, as I've played, things are unfolding a bit and I'm starting to get a handle on it (which means I'm liking it more and more.)
I'm still having the blue screen, but not quite as often..
As for the debug mode...I did run it...when I was having the constant blue screen, I was running it the entire time, and oddly, I had no errors at all....
Strange, indeed.
It's happening now only ever few sim days...We'll see if it clears up at all.
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Professors crash the game, OFB, anyone else? on: 2006 March 04, 17:25:25
I have no hacks installed at the moment, so I'm sure it isn't hack related.
I was thinking the same as you, zephyr, that perhaps the game is taking a moment to generate them...
Perhaps I'll give it some time and see if once all of the NPCs are generated it won't lock up anymore.
Zephyr, I'd definitely keep a backup on-hand of your neighborhood before you install!
Then if you need to uninstall OFB, you can just revert back to your NL version.....I've been noticing a lot of weirdness since OFB, so I'm really hoping that there is a patch out soon!
I had only installed the hacks that were known to be compatible from the beginning....only pescado's.  I don't even have the de-censor in, but once the problems occur I played completely hack free and still had all of the issues.
I'm hoping it stops happening soon, once all of the un-met professors have been seen on the lots!
Thanks for all of the replies!  I'd be interested to see if there are more people that have this problem once everyone gets the EP.
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Professors crash the game, OFB, anyone else? on: 2006 March 04, 06:31:51
Hey all,
I"m having a really bad issue right now, and it seems to be directly connected to professors....(i can't be positive)
A few times when a professor enters my home-business lot, my game comes to a screeching halt and I get a blue screen.  Everything completely locks up, but if I wait 2-3 minutes, the game screen comes back and I can play normally. It happens almost every sim day, and each time it happens I check to see who's entering the lot, and several times (perhaps everytime, though I didn't catch it the first few times), it's been that a professor has appeared....  I have no clue why this might be happening, but it doesn't seem too good at all.  It's such a weird thing....it's almost like a crash where it quits to desktop, only the screen comes back up and stays blue for a few minutes....
I removed all of my hacks when this started happening, and it still happened without them...
I wonder if anyone else has had similar issue with OFB and this...It never happened until this expansion pack.
Plus, it scares the crap outta me everytime it happens, because right before it the game sort of flashes and cuts off. lol!
Any advice would be so very much appreciated.
Thanks so much!

PS, You might want to check out this link... It's got a ton of info on this exact driver. I'm in the process of reading through it right now to find a solution.
