For some reason I had always felt that all extreme actions should give the adrenaline rush moodlet, not just that stupid "watch this!" thing.  It makes so much more sense that way.

Maybe you can try to put her into editsim, save, then go to CAS to make a new clone of her.  If that clone is not bugged, then delete the bugged one and use the debug commands to set the relationships back on the clone.

You decide whether the occasional glitch... is worth tolerating, or if you prefer replacing $200 graphics cards.
It does seem to be intermittent; further starts have been indicator-free. I'm not going to stress the occasional occurrence; I just wanted to be sure I wasn't Doin' It Wrong.

Yeah, I also had this problem, and it also causes a black square where the text is so it completely covers the current action in the action queue.  It's quite frustrating.  If you run windowed, you can try to open another window and keep it active for a bit while the game loads.  It seems to encourage the indicator to embed itself on that window a little more.

Hopeless Romantic: Gaze Into Eyes
Childish: Goof Around
Daredevil: Watch This!
Technophobe: Sabotage Electronics

List goes on.

There, you're spoon fed.

Those behaviours will always be linked to just those traits, like the idle animations were linked to TS2 personality points, and this makes all traits very predictable in behaviour. Maybe they should have enabled all interractions for all sims, but randomize the chances of sims performing them based on their traits. Like childish sims have a 50% chance to do the goof around animation and all other traits have it on varying smaller degrees based on the trait description, so this would give even a grumpy sim the chance to goof around occasionaly.

Goof Around is a social interaction.  Fuck with its xml.
30  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Sims 3 Expansion In My Head on: 2009 July 07, 09:46:58
It's all moodlets, never personality. All Sims talk the same, every action is the same. If two different Sims have the same traits, and pick the same trait specific social action it won't be any different than the Average Joe doing it. Like you said, Excitable Sims don't act excited, they just get a moodlet.

That's a false generalization.  Some traits do have specific interactions, and they also autonomously use them from time to time.  You need to pay more attention.

That wasn't what I was getting at. I meant that traits that have social interactions are never different between Sims, and I'm pretty sure that's what I said, I guess you just didn't catch that.

And for instance, the Evil trait, they laugh sometimes. Yes, it's autonomous, but it's not an interaction. They just do it for the hell of it.

Hmm... was playing w/Robotic Hand of God on for the first time today and it seems to have developed a bit of kleptomania... as when my sims go to make some drinks at their bar... the serving tray lasts long enough for the 4 drinks to be poured... and my sim can start to take a drink and then POOF... the whole thing disappears... not so great for those who are "Legendary Hosts"...   Wink   Smiley
I only turn it on when the garbage gets out of hand.  Though it'd be cool if there is a hotkey for robotichandofgod so we don't need to type the whole setconfig robotfdkslafjdsl on and just need to say go CTRL R or something to make things go poof and then again to disable the option.

Okay, so according to http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,13970.msg412370.html#msg412370, there's vampires in the game. And now I read this, and no vampires. So which is it? Or are they just probably coming or something?

The easiest answer is that the post you are referring to is Lies and Propaganda posted back in February...well, more precisely, it is a response based on Lies and Propaganda posted back in February, long before the game was actually released. There were a lot of people talking out of their asses at that point, and a lot of rumours of features and themes that did not come to pass, because someone either innocently got it wrong, or felt like spreading false rumours to get attention.

Why you felt the need to latch onto that particular Lie with all the other Propaganda being spouted at the time, is a mystery only you can answer.

For one thing, I just saw the post itself, didn't know L&P stood for lies and propaganda, but thanks for belated heads up on that.

Secondly, I didn't latch onto the lie per say, I only saw conflicting information that I was hoping could be clarified, and thought maybe someone had heard something about it being included in an expansion. That's really it.

I'm just glad people continue to be asses instead of just answering an honest question and moving on. I don't agree that ignorance is bliss, but at the same time the uninformed are not universally stupid and in need of public flogging.

That's why in times like this people will yell "LURK MOAR!"

It's not an insult.  In fact it is the best advice.  There is a reason why some people get poked and others do not.

hmm First expansion due Nov 2009: The Sims 3: Destination Adventure. Source
Well, I'm not really excited about it...

Oooh, I wonder if we'd get those Castaway primitive furniture again?  It is calling for an Awesome Cannibal Mod.
36  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Sims 3 Expansion In My Head on: 2009 July 03, 12:48:26
OFB would make perfect sense.

It would take more than that to make perfect sense.  There are not enough consumable items or wear-and-tear on fixtures to warrant actual businesses in the game.  You are really just making the sims waste money on inventory clutter, which you have to manually delete in the end.

37  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 June 30, 22:27:08
I'm not in any way condoning pedophilia and would take a shotgun to any pedophile who got anywhere near one of my kids but in the Sims it just becomes a pain in the ass to have to force a teen sim to age up simply because another teen you matched them up with aged up a few days before and you don't want their relationship to suddenly change overnight because one of them is suddenly too old.

In Sims 3 their relationship will not suddenly change overnight.  They keep whatever relationships they had before.  You will just not have the romantic interactions in the menu when they are out of sync.  Wait a few days or buy the teen a birthday cake.

I used the body sculptor on Malcolm Landgraab.  So far he has not reverted.

I'm curious what effect, if any, the genre type has on actually reading the books.  I've never quite understood the value in the very expensive books in the book store.  The books with game effects I understand, but not the ones that only increase Fun.

I wonder if we'll eventually get a SimPE-like took that will let us add additional markers.  Since, for example, you can't write Pregnancy books, there are only 2 in the game, and Sims constantly roll Wishes to read them when having kids, even if they've already read both.

My Sim got a "read a masterpiece" moodlet buff after reading a masterpiece.
41  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Object upgrades - the real list on: 2009 June 09, 02:28:50
What does Tinker actually do, apart from breaking objects?  Just a non-book way of raising Handiness, at the cost of breaking stuff?

I had my Handy sim tinker on things a lot, assuming that it would unlock additional upgrade recipes or something, but didn't actually find anything.

Tinkering can also give random upgrades to objects.

Being in a beautifully decorated room (just collect gems) and playing music in the background (leave the stereo on) can give around +70 mood easily too, I never had a woohoo rejected with that combo.
43  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Heartbreaker LTW question on: 2009 June 05, 00:58:58
Sounds like a bug to me, it's like the game hadn't properly checked the status of the (presumably uncontrolled) sim you are interacting with.  Even then, your sim was only involved in one relationship.

In my understanding, a heartbreaker is one who jumps from relationship to relationship, that is different from one who is involved in multiple relationships.  I think it makes sense.
44  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Career Profitability and Perks on: 2009 June 01, 09:30:05
Did no one bother with the military career?

Astronauts only work on mondays but it goes from 7am to 1am.

lv 10 starts at 334/hr

Require: mood, athletic, handiness, boss relation.

Options: usual, work hard, goof off at the post exchange, hang out with fellow soldiers, suck up to superior

You can also demand a raise when you click on the military building, though I'm not sure if that is the same for all careers or if it's a trait thing.
45  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Priceless - A reported Sims 3 event that brought tears to my eyes on: 2009 June 01, 02:40:05
Well, at least in TS3 it can go the other way.  I had once had a sim over who wanted to use his own laptop.  The thing is my house only has one desk, which one of my sim is already sitting at, so the sim pulled out his laptop, put it on my table and couldn't use it.  So he got stuck for a bit and then it is time for him to leave, so he walked out without his computer. I click on the computer and it works as if I had bought it, so I just let my sim have that laptop.
46  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 29, 11:15:55
I haven't experienced it yet because my sims live on empty lots and never actually stay home, but sims with the "Brave" trait can apparently be mighty warriors and will fight the burglars, fires, and whatnot, instead of screaming like neurotic idiots that in my family, we would shoot.

That's the description we are given, but it is vague at best.  I think more testing needs to be done.  The sim I got robbed with had the brave trait.  I intentionally put that trait in (along with getting him a law enforcement career) to maximize my chances of actually seeing the sim fight the burglar because that is precisely what I want to happen.

I don't know if the neighbor hadn't come would my sim then be able to fight the burglar himself, but as far as I've seen there are no interactions available on the burglar for me to click.

So either:

1) That the action is autonomous, but since in my situation it was interrupted (someone got to the burglar first) it failed.

2) Brave trait is borked.

3) It only works on sims you do not control.

and I guess those are all possibilities?
47  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 29, 10:46:16
So neighbours can fight for you?!?

It would appear to be the case.  My house didn't have a burglar alarm, but when the burglar got in my sim still had the "react to burglar" action queued up.  He was a bit slow to wake up though, and that woman came charging in from across the street in what looks to be her PJs and fought that burglar, it was actually quite hilarious.

It would be better though if our sim could fight for ourselves though.
48  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 29, 10:21:40
Sims still can't attack the burglars! This was really irritating to have her standing watching as she was burgled.

Oh god you have no idea.  I have a brave, athletic sim in the law enforcement career and he can't do shit to the burglar.  The mom from across the street has to fight the burglar for him (and shockingly she actually won).  Then the burglar took my sim's newspaper and proceed to read it in my sim's house.  The mom had gone back to her own house to sleep by now.  So I manually called the police and as soon as the police arrives the burglar ran away.  The police didn't even have a chance to fight.

I still got the stolen item back in the family inventory afterward though.
49  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 26, 22:20:45
From what I can tell, interaction availability is entirely determined by the other Sim's current perception.  You can't woohoo your girlfriend if she currently only thinks you're "okay", can't ask someone to move in with you if they think you're extremely irresistible (because apparently it's just a friendly action, not a romantic one).  In other words, each interaction is sitting somewhere on a tree, and you have to move up that tree EVERY TIME in order to get to it.  Spectacularly annoying.

I may very well be wrong but after deciding that this was how it worked, I've had much more success in shaping relationships the way I want them to go.  There does not seem to be any inherent compatibility system, though, so if you decide a Sim is The One for your Sim, all you have to do is start climbing.

I'm pretty sure "extremely irresistible" is a romantic one.  That is what I shoot for whenever I need them to woohoo.  Forget that.  I think I misread the sentence.  "Move In" is a friendly option.  The romantic equivalent is marriage.

It also seems like if the sims are in a relationship (steady and up) they can skip parts of the tree and get to that point sooner.  As to how many interactions is needed to advance, it looks like there is a little bit of compatibility issues (maybe trait related too) as I do notice some sims (especially unflirty ones) are really difficult to woo.

What I do not like though is that in order to woo someone that has a spouse (even those with commitment issues, like Thornton Wolff), you have to use friendly interactions until "Ask to break up with X" comes up before the sim will take your romantic interactions, that really makes no sense.

I'm really starting to wish that there was a way to keep collections separate. Containers specifically for all seeds, all rocks, and all bugs would be very useful. Some sort of display for bugs would be neat, too - there's fish bowls for fish, so why not?

I also have a question pertaining to the law enforcement career track: how exactly do you write reports? I've questioned one sim and dug in the trash of two different families, and not once did the option to write a report show up. I checked both my sim's computer, his workplace, and options while he was at work - all nada. Does it require actually finding a sim guilty of something worth reporting on?

Bugs and butterflies have their cases.  They're stackable too, so you can do some really cool stuff if have a lot of them.  Jewels, once cut, have their own displays as well.  You just need to click on them and select the option.

What is missing though are shelves, so I can display all my jewels without them taking every usable slot in the house.
