26  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Object error from batch creating dormies in FT :( on: 2008 April 16, 04:12:58
To throw another bit of oddness into the mix...

A did just start another new hood.  This time, I moved a sim into a dorm, allowed the game to generate dormies as needed to fill the dorm.  I was going to go through and generate a few extras one by one with the gun.  But on the spur of the moment, after playing a few days, I decided to give the letterbox method one last go.  And what do you know...  straight through 50 dormies, no errors, all perfect.

Time is the key, it seems.

It's the naming all of the sims in CAS that I object to.  I find I get more uniqueness in a hood if I let the game generate the sims than if I generate them myself.  With face templates most of the hideousness is removed, and I'm getting to kinda like S4 skin tones with blonde or red hair.  What's life without a bit of chaos?

The good news (if you can think of it that way) is that the errors still occur with a game completely devoid of custom content.  It's EAxian borkenness, so I guess there's nothing, unfortunately, that we can do other than the work arounds already mentioned.

I have had the same problem.  http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,11620.0.html

I didn't find a solution, but it did seem that generating the dormies one at a time with the gun managed to do so without errors.

In the end, I decided that going with a pre-populated uni was less painful than generating 50 dormies one by one so that's what I did.  I know you don't need 50 dormies, but that's what the game creates, so it's what I wanted.  Of course, now I have unbearably ugly dormies rather than the ones created with decent face templates, so I'm seriously considering toasting the hood and starting over.  Again.

Pedant. Tongue

How can this be called doing a Ness?  I had one file, in the right place.  The file was borked by the person who made it - not me!
31  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Free time phone weirdness on: 2008 April 07, 00:28:18
I have the new one.

I suspect it might be tied to the extra phones package, but I got sick of loading and reloading and haven't checked it without that package yet.

Use the print screen key to take a screen capture and paste it into a graphics program afterwards.

Can't actually help with the teeth problem, though.

It appears to be the CEP.

I decided to test, and ripped out the entire downloads folder - phone still disappears.  I uninstalled the CEP, phone stays.

Sorry, Croidure, already deleted the hood.  I tend to burn through them fairly fast in the early stages of a new EP before I finally settle on one that I'll play long term.

Has anyone else got problems with the new phones in free time?

I was able to use one no problems in an already furnished house, but each time I try to buy one, it disappears as soon as I go back to live mode.  This happens with both the wall phone and the other phone.  The other phones work fine.
36  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Generating townies - many errors on: 2008 April 06, 00:20:18
Interestingly enough, the errors only occur when trying to generate townies in a uni sub hood.  Base hood is able to generate townies with no problems at all.

My profs seemed to generate without problems at all.  No idea how many I have, though.

Possibly a stupid Ness thing.

After not playing sims for months, I finally found the time to install free time and slapped it over my origninal installation without making any changes.  This means I still have empty templates in there.

Currently messing about with Desiderata Valley, so didn't notice the lack of townie thing until I sent a sim to uni.  No dormies.  Attempted to mass-generate dormies using the mail box as before and kept getting errors thrown at me.  I managed to get a decent number generated by cancelling the errors when they popped up.

Is this a sign of a very bad thing?  Apart from those errors everything has been running fairly smoothly.  Is townie generation now just seriously borked, or has something snuck in that shouldn't be in my game that is causing this?  Error log included.  I have 40 of the damn things just from trying to generate dormies.  Haven't tried making downtownies or regular townies in a base hood.

I'd just be happy if something could drain the life time aspiration meter.  I suspect the check for permaplat from life time aspiration is along the lines of "is my meter full?"

I'm no expert of course, but it's giving me the whatsits!  This is where something like Hook's old semi-permaplat would come in handy if it could be made to work.

I'm also finding that the toggle LTW bit on the debugger is not removing the life time aspiration type of permaplat.  Extremely depressing, really.

Old pianos are always chosen over the easels.

The lot debuggers nuke pregnancy token option USED to work, but hasn't for ages.  I've reported it to Pescado several times, but it's still not working, and he seems remarkably unconcerned by this.  Angry

I usually get my sims to macro garden and leave the piles of leaves there...  then burn them off at the start of winter.  They stop new leaves from falling, and the gardener generally doesn't try to throw them out.
44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Endlessly Raking Gardener on: 2007 December 27, 23:05:30
I'm pretty sure the winter flower fix just stops the gardener (and other sims) trying to water dormant flower beds in winter.  When it comes to the leaves...  just have less trees!

Yay!  Was even an update for BV on the last page of the thread.  Can you hear the sheep bleating?
46  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's in YOUR Downloads? on: 2007 December 23, 21:23:33
NVA, that last name chooser sounds like what I had, but lost before I got a chance to try it!  Is it an MTS2 thing?
47  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's in YOUR Downloads? on: 2007 December 22, 05:36:49
Forgot to mention - I don't use marriage traditional.  I prefer to decide which name gets kept so I don't end up with household names being different to the surname of the sim that lives there.

I did come across a hack once to give the choice...  but I think I lost it before I ever got to try it. Sad

Have fun, jolrei - but be careful.  The nuke pregnancy token thing just doesn't seem to work, though.  And I *still* haven't found out what this frobnication thing is!

Try shift clicking.  Smiley

I've always wondered about the frobnication thing...  what the hell is frobnication any way?
