would different careers need to be weighted differently?  I don't have many sims that die (or even have children for that matter) before they reach the top of their career ladder...

and a wizard's staff has a knob on the end...

I really must go dig out my pratchett novels and re-read them...

well - I've restarted, and last time I checked, my townies could be sent to uni...  hopefully this will be the last restart for a while - I'm hoping to get further than a week this time!

 Cry

I appear to be looking at yet another restart here...  I'm tempted to try ripping the downloads folder out temporarily to see if that changes anything...

update: tried that, no help at all...  looks like a restart again

that's pretty much what I did - except I attached the uni and then deleted everyone

I'm letting the game generate dormies and NPCs as required, but I made it generate townies

did you ever fix the problem?  or where you left with trashing the neighbourhood and starting over?

It's kind of nice to know that it's happened to someone else - asked the same question on another forum and got told that it was a problem with my computer because nobody could replicate the problem.

I've even had a look through the downloads folder, but I can't see any hacks that could appear to cause the problem - I'd like to keep going with my current neighbourhood, but don't want to get too far in case it's not fixable and I need to start over again.

nope - wouldn't even know where to find it.

the only hacks I have in are either JM's or twjeff's - and there isn't really vast numbers of those either.

profiteroles I believe...  a little pastry ball type thingy filled with custard and coated with chocolate...  sometimes they have cream in them...  horribly fattening but incredibly delicious!

if you want to experience language barriers when everyone speaks english...

during the olympics (2000 - I'm Australian), we had about a hundred young Americans staying at the church, and one poor girl from England...  she found the Americans hard to cope with, but said we weren't too much different to what she was used to - our words for things (and I've completely blanked on most of it now) were either the same or similar enough for her to be able to decipher what we were talking about.

the things that really stood out for the Americans (apart from driving on the wrong side of the road) were the ne free refills on the soft drinks (fizzy drinks or carbonated beverage if you prefer).  We also have to pay for our local phone calls.

Dinners were interesting - we had to have cordial made up in American strength and Australian strength - the americans seeming to prefer about twice the amount of cordial in the water to us.

ok, the subject says it all...

I got thoroughly sick of the maxis families that I never play and deleted all the characters to get rid of them - regenerated townies becuase life in the neighbourhood was pretty lonely for 2 sims and now I've had this weird problem pop up.

From the neighbourhood screen, the only teens I can send to uni are the 4 sims that were born in the game and the two paper girls - not a single townie on the list!  and yes, I do have teen townies!

any ideas on what has caused this and whether it is fixable?

oooh!

I was hoping for something like this - when I had a couple of elders who were getting close to death - I wanted to max the family relationships to guarantee bigger inheritances...  but then, I trashed the neighbourhood and started over...  will look forward to using it when my original sims get closer to that life stage!

thank you!

absolutely love the game!

my life does not revolve only around scientific and mathematical things.

can someone please remind my game - I've had sims refuse wedding invitations!

when you look what the pixel people do, it's no wonder there are so many idiots on the official BBS - must be contagious...

just a quick question - I can't find the answer in the RTFM...

how does this caclulate how much money a sim will have after they have graduated?  I'm sure I've seen the answer, but can't find it anywhere now.

same here...  toddlers you can cope with, but the babies are a pain - best way I've found around it is to get someone to take them to the cake (even without throwing a birthday party) - sometimes you still end up waiting for hours while assorted sims make their way there (I do have the hack that stops everyone coming to watch age transitions - only works for grow up, doesn't work with the cake) - but it's the smoothest way around the problem I have found at this stage.

Life has been interesting, in the ancient Chinese curse kind of way.  I've got a half-dead squirrel locked in my basement right now.

As for SimPE, I definitely recommend it, if nothing else just for quick personality adjustments to your sims.

ah yes...  may you live in interesting times...  or was that pants?
(sorry, a kind of sleepless night and my brain wondered to things Pratchett)

as for the dead squirrel, I'm sure I really don't want to ask!

and the thing with SimPE - the sight of the page is enough to send me running - the entire site shows up in a font that is too small to read on my computer so I really can't figure out what I'm getting in to!

ok, now that I've gone and shown my stupidity and lack of technical knowledge on yet another forum...

Torkle!

we meet again...  I remember you from the sims 1 fixes you made for MM...  how's life treating you these days?

as for your question - haven't yet been brave enough to download simpe, so couldn't say...
