1201  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / lost sites? on: 2005 September 21, 00:14:16
I wasn't going to ask here, as VS is a bit of a touchy subject...  but I haven't been able to go there since last night some time - over 12 hours seems a long time for a site to be down!

and now there is more weirdness - I can't get to MTS2 now - it seems to take me to the wrong site - any one else having these problems?  or is my computer just gone nuts...

you are thinking that the aspiration could have been another random food item?  like spaghetti, or chef salad?  certainly could make things more interesting!

I'm actually thinking of heading out to hunt down a copy today - although, I've got one more week before my holidays start and getting it today could be extremely dangerous!

just because each expansion pack is a separate foundation, doesn't mean that they can't rely on what's there in earlier expansion packs...

just look at sims 1 - you could have any or all of the expansion packs with no problems at all - if house party was installed when hot date went in, the house party content would be used in creating the downtown lots - same with unleashed - if it was installed, unleashed content would be used in creating both the downtown and vacation lots.  Also the dates in sims 1 - when you had vacation, you had the option of vacation dates, taking dates to old town when you had unleashed - different spells in makin' magic depending on whether you had unleashed or superstar...  there's always been cool little things that have popped up as the expansion packs interact, and I'm really hoping that this will continue in sims 2.  If each expansion pack is completely unrelated, then things will get very boring, very quickly - the interest often comes from seeing how later expansion packs build on what's already there and expand the entire game - otherwise your young adults in uni shouldn't be able to go on dates!

I still can't see the problem with having life time wants of uni careers - without uni, you don't have life time wants!  unless, night life will be giving non-uni people life time wants, in which case, surely there can be a check on which careers are available as it decides life time want?!

about those money trees...

I've had everything between 2, and 8 money trees on a lot at the same time (I rarely only use one if I'm going to use them at all), all regenerating at the same time - and I've never had problems with audio (other than it's a bit loud some times when they regenerate!), and I've never had a game crash because of them.

could be that I'm just lucky, but could also mean that the problems with money trees comes from the computer, not the game

having cell phones turn off when the sim is sleeping!

you took the words right out of my mouth!

please, can we have this?!

rant away!

if I had the energy, I would join you - I love the uni careers, but they seem pointless - I only ever get to use them if a sim rolls a non-career want, so generally only my family sims get them!

I want uni career LTWs!

That is exactly what I was thinking...

unless the LTW will be included with nightlife, so you will now have LTWs, regardless of whether you have uni or not

in the cheat box type:  boolprop testingcheatsenabled true

then, shift click on the telescope

alternatively, shift click on a sim, and spawn the tombstone of L&D - on that you have an option to make a sim alien pregnant

if you graduate your sim and move them back to the neighbourhood, then marry a dormie...  the dormie comes as though they have graduated...  or at least, that's what's happened in my game...  I was always able to marry them properly (with the arch) and all, too...

ordinary paracetamol...  bleh...

I'm another arthritis sufferer - I absolutely detest taking prednisone, on high doses it makes me high (can't stand feeling like that!), on low dosed it makes me cranky and aggressive...  I live on panadeine - a combination of paracetamol and codeine phosphate - I've got all the different brands sussed out and I know exactly how much codeine is in each!

the current drug of choice is mersyndol (tension headaches for over a month) - parecetamol, codeine phosphate and doxylamine succinate...  leaves me very happily dozy and actually ensures that I get a good night's sleep!  and it's available without a prescription - some days I worry that I could become seriously addicted to sedatives!

so...  to get back to the original question...  JM, can the attraction thing be altered in any way?

I knew there was a reason I don't resurrect sims!

males of other ages still make the sound - it's just at a different volume and tone, so not as easily heard.

1215  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / townie teen weirdness on: 2005 September 04, 20:52:40
This is something that has popped up before, but I seem to be drawing an absolute blank on how to fix it...

I started a new neighbourhood - the existing pleasantview because I like the community lots and houses - began with a delete all characters and then added a university - took my first couple through, went to the main neighbourhood and generated townies (the NPCs I leave for the game to generate as required)

and here's where the weirdness begins - I've actually got attractive townies this time!  especiallly the teens (apart from one called destry grundstrom who has a mohawk!  I think he shall die!)...  sadly, I can't send any of them to uni...

My only thought is that the teen townies didn't exist when the uni was added, so that means they can't be sent (although, I have spoken to other people who have done things in the exact order I did who have no problems at all)...

ideas, anyone?  last time I had this, I trashed the entire neighbourhood and started over, I think this time I will continue...  but I could also do with some ideas on how to make the townies playable in case I ever want to send any of them to uni and use them for breeding purposes!

I've also seen babies online too...  weird how tiny little babies can sit at the computer to chat online, but they lose the ability once they become toddlers!

I've seen the work in cafeteria, be personal trainer wants, and those other types of uni-only things in the regular neighbourhood as well - they seem to be triggered by extremely low finance reserves...

I've seen my romance sims swagger...  it happens when you tell them to flirt with another sim and they actually have to walk up to that sim first...

I've also seen my sims spontaneously decide to flirt, kiss and make out - but never the first time!  only after you've shown them how it's done...

I believe it's frontdoorhack...  I read this somewhere else and have just installed it, but haven't tried it out yet.

1222  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No romantic interactions? on: 2005 September 02, 22:12:01
teen townies can be sent to uni without any cheats at all - they become playable sims and can then be married off to anyone...  I've done this quite often, myself...

1223  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: a request - if it is at all possible on: 2005 September 02, 22:05:51
I know how it works at the moment...  and I don't like it!  I want to know if it can be altered so that it works differently...

Inge, the spontaneous proposals would be fantastic - do you have any idea if that could be done?  or is that just another thing we can but dream about...

 Roll Eyes

it does seem to be taking ages to get an answer...  at this stage I'd be grateful for a "no it can't be done" - at least it's an answer!

if the attraction can't be altered, can it at least be killed completely?  it bugs the snot out of me!
