51  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to take the flashing blue fail out of downloaded accessories? on: 2009 November 29, 12:11:26
Oh, -excellent!- Thanks so much!  Smiley
52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Solved, thanks! on: 2009 November 29, 11:02:55
Not in 'Oops, I broke it', because I didn't break it- on the contrary, even.

I'm sure you're familiar with the b0rk in question, accessories that start flashing blue once the wearing sim appears in-game after you've applied the offending accessory. I quite like some of these, and I'm willing to do the required legwork to fix it.

However- I've done my homework, and found that the problem is usually caused by a cloned pair of glasses that only use 'frame' or whatnot, and didn't include any data for the other object components, so when the object figures out that these 'glasses' are missing 'lenses', it b0rks to blue.

MTS2 has a link to a placeholder object file to correct the omission in the mesh, but the site they've linked is presently down. Does anyone have an alternative workaround, or a placeholder file that will work for this purpose? I'm one of those unlucky people who gets the blue flash every damn time the accessory-wearers are seen. I could ignore it for a while, but this neighbourhood is an elvish forest, so it's driving me bonkers to have flashing blue triangles everywhere where their ears fail.
53  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Partial time-warp? How'd I bork this? on: 2009 November 18, 15:44:12
I just installed a new version of antivirus yesterday, now that you mention it. That makes a lot of sense.

Thankyou! I wish I'd known that would happen before.  Undecided
54  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Partial time-warp? How'd I bork this? on: 2009 November 18, 15:12:35
I didn't have anything open at the time, just the program itself... any idea what might have caused it to do that?

... Guess I'm making yet another new neighbourhood. Hooray.
55  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Partial time-warp? How'd I bork this? on: 2009 November 18, 14:49:57
I was playing a family that had recently had its' third and fourth child, and extended the house a bit. Once the eldest had aged to teenager, I sent her to the shopping district to buy some new clothes.

However-
Once the lot loaded up, the one who'd gone to the store seemed to have been the father. No problem, I thought, I must have just clicked the wrong one, and I bought the clothing I wanted her to have anyway. Took the father home, and that was where upfuckery made itself apparent.

The third and fourth children were gone, and the formerly teenage daughter was now walking around bow-legged, apparently being registered as a child. Her little brother was crawling around creepily as a toddler does, despite being a child. The game seems to consider them to be the age stages they are behaving as. Everything seems to be time-reset to my last save in the family's memories. It's like the father while the father was at the store, time went in reverse or some shit.

It wasn't a full time-warp, either, despite the memories of everyone concerned- the house was still extended, and the cribs the poor doomed babies had been in before leaving were still sitting there, only empty. I checked with SimPE, and there doesn't appear to be any data on the two youngest little boys whatsoever.

My questions are thus: WTF? Also, BFBVFS?
56  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Homeless Ghosts- any way I can get them back? on: 2009 July 22, 17:39:29
I had a Sim with a ghost husband and ghost teenage son, living with his parents, so there were five in the house. For some reason they homelessed themselves, and I managed to retrieve the living ones easily enough by inviting them over to another household and adding them to the active family. However, the ghost members no longer show up in anyone's relationship panels, including the father and husband who still lives... is there a way I can force them to visit his lot? I think the game might have decided out of the blue that they were really dead, not just ghosts. Both of them were born as ghosts if it has any relevance.

They show up on the List Homeless listing of Awesomemod, but I can't give them money with familyfunds. It just won't take, I think it's because I have other families with the same surname. I tried building a cheapass house and using runstoryaction Move In Household, but it gives me an error of apostrophe for that specific family... any way to correct this at all?
57  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: What 5 Buy Mode objects would you like Modders to make first? on: 2009 July 04, 16:17:05
More miscellaneous decorative goodies. I'm not fussy, I can find merit in most items, but I'm disappointed in the shortage of choices in this one.

I'll second the less toolish male hairstyles, too. Ugh, so much scene crap in there for both genders. Is anyone else wigged out by the children all having cell phones too? I wish I had a hack to disable those. It feels really wrong to me. I loathe cellphones themselves with an irrational passion, but kids with them is especially... ugh.
58  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Moodlets + Six Bars vs. Eight Bars on: 2009 July 01, 04:32:18
Joe Sim here can be smelly and socially neglected, but still be happy as a clam because he ate a tasty breakfast!

Sounds like real life, I can be overwhelmed with depression but feel great after a really good meal.

As someone who has to deal with a rather crippling-at-times state of depression, that sort of thing can help but not quite to the degree the game believes. What would have been a better moodlet for that if they were going for realism, imo, would have been something like 'talked to an old friend'. I don't see that one in there, I see moodlets for making a new friend but not maintaining a high link with one they've already got. The moodlets probably shouldn't be so strong though... if it's meant to simulate a sort of depression, perhaps the 'over emotional' ones should be the only ones getting the super high boosts? ... I'm pretty damn sure not everyone on earth has depression to battle against.
59  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: EDIT: Futher FUBAR. Damn, EA. You really fail this time. on: 2009 June 30, 16:55:01
When you switch households, don't have the relationship panel or be in the midst of conversation. That causes this problem. I discovered it a long time ago. You'r best off making sure the last sim you look like is in a neutral state, with the first panel up.

Great, I'll try that if it borks again. For now I shitcanned that neighbourhood because it was full of elders along with its' bits of wierdness, but if it crops up again that'll be the first fix I try.
60  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: EDIT: Futher FUBAR. Damn, EA. You really fail this time. on: 2009 June 30, 08:12:41
Updated, now with new unplayable fail!
61  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Well, I'm thinking this might be one of the first Sims 3 fireballs... on: 2009 June 30, 02:57:29
Do they have names and traits and things?  (Does the big red square have name and traits?...)

Nope, and if it means anything, that first guy was one I accidentally added to a different household.
62  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / EDIT: Futher FUBAR. Damn, EA. You really fail this time. on: 2009 June 29, 13:16:28
I'm only using Awesomemod, but my game appears to have filled its' bloomers already.
Everyone's contacts have been replaced by... this. I don't even know if anyone in my game have even met these people. Especially the red square thing there...

EDIT: It's pretty FUBAR'd now. Any household I switch to, it doesn't matter... the only characters in the side panel or accessible are that fatass Ursine chick and her kid. Further up-stuffage in this are that the panels belong to DIFFERENT sims: The relationship panel has the kids' FATHER'S relationships ( either that, or the baby is in love with his own mother ), the first panel is his own, but the inventory is his mothers'... ugh. What the hell is with this? I've done nothing peculiar to this picky little game beyond Awesomemod.
63  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Wrong memories and occasional ages. *sigh* Have I killed it? on: 2009 April 14, 05:13:44
XD Thought so. ... Oh well, I had a good run with this 'hood.
64  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Wrong memories and occasional ages. *sigh* Have I killed it? on: 2009 April 14, 05:02:50
Denise Jacquet's son got married... she has a memory of his engagement, but for the marriage it has some random guy with laurels on. ... Also, on another lot, I circumvented the Social Worker to stop her taking my kids (deleted her), and when I went back into the lot the kids were there still, but aged a stage down from where they were meant to be- using the sprites of the age up, but acting like the age down- ie. crawling child, limp newborn-baby toddler.

... This a VBT? If it is... could someone please direct me toward some blank templates for main 'hoods, unis and holiday destinations? If I have to remake this whole place, it's not having the craptastic assault of Maxis townies... I blame them. Them and their giant lips and terrible dress sense.
65  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Worryingly Generous Cat on: 2009 February 14, 04:17:57
Ahh, great. Well that's one less thing to worry about.
... I haven't had any inheritance-related weirdness since I took out the death-related junk in all of their memories and nuked all the gossip about it I could find. Anything I could have missed to fix the dumb damage I caused? Sorry for unawesome n00bishness.
66  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Worryingly Generous Cat on: 2009 February 14, 04:06:42
It was the Tricous if I remember correctly... *facepalm* my sim just brought someone home from work, except said someone is a uni student therefore couldn't possible have been working for them. ... ugh. VBT?
67  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Worryingly Generous Cat on: 2009 February 12, 05:58:48
Never ressurrect pre-made dead sims.

Lesson learned, captain. -_-; *salute*
Anyone know of the technical details of the plague I've probably released on my neighbourhood? I'd love to try and fix it if at all possible. I've deleted the tokens and death references in all their memories along with those from everyone they've ever spoken to. Luckily I haven't played them much.
68  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Worryingly Generous Cat on: 2009 February 09, 05:47:12
Yeah, they were premades... Augh! I should have figured. Maxis couldn't code their way out of a paper bag. D<
... gahhh... Think it'll fireball on me? I hope not. I'm attached to this 'hood. Man, this is the last time I put so much effort into making one...
If you have an idea of what the problem I stupidly caused is, do you know of a way to nip it in the bud and fix it?

Thanks, by the way. I only wanted to ressurrect a handful so I shouldn't need it at the moment, but I'll certainly keep that in mind.
... Gah, mad at myself now. I should have known...
69  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Worryingly Generous Cat on: 2009 February 07, 02:07:09
I used a cheat to get a sim of mine to know everyone in my neighbourhood, so I could ressurect some dead ones via Ressurect-O-Nomitron. Problem is, once I did that, the sims she ressurrected in her house started getting inheritance money as if from a death, but the sim it came from was her cat... who is very not dead. Is this a VBT? No sims have died between the ressurections.

The cat continues life as normal, sitting on her kitchen counter right when I want to use it with his usual vapid stare.

Here we go.
71  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Teenage Vampires won't sleep in their coffins. Gah! on: 2008 June 28, 02:40:24
I direct them to use their coffins, but all they do is approach them, then teleport backward and it jumps out of their action queue. At the moment I can only play their households with 'motivedecay off' in use. I suspected a wobbly bit of CC, but I took out my downloads folder to test that and it was still doing it with no CC in the game at all. It's not a massive game breaker but it's definitely annoying- anyone have any idea of how to fix it?
72  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Not sure I broke it but; overly generic wants? on: 2008 February 08, 05:56:07
Really? Whoo! For once I didn't bork it! : D Thankyou!
73  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Not sure I broke it but; overly generic wants? on: 2008 February 07, 10:34:14
Call me crazy, but the Ottomas family is one of my favorite families to play with. (with the fix of course. ) Well, somehow I borked the G002 Seasons 'hood so the Seasons characters weren't stuck in every neighbourhood. I'm not sure how categorically I DID that, but when I checked my files I found that the files for them did exist, but only as the most basic of character data; all other information on them was erased right down to age stages, and apparently they were all Grow Up or Grilled Cheese aspriations.

At the risk of refireballing my 'hood, I recreated all those characters with customised memories, correctly notorised ages and genders, reconfigured interests and personality points and jobs where relevant. Much to my shock and awe, they work. Perfectly. No errors at all except for little Tommy refusing to throw any wants until childhood. The issue might just be my imagination, though, but the wants they're getting all seem to be very generic.

Reason I'm not sure there's an actual issue is because the wants relate to their aspiriatons, but they're very typical wants and compared to my other families, seem to register relationships to other Sims and events in their lives very very infrequently if at all, and once fulifilled it can take several rerolls to see another. Dora exemplifies my point; previously, Family Sims of mine only ever got Woohoo wants where there was a viable Woohoo canditate, but there is not; and she keeps throwing the 'Woohoo in Bed' want.

I can live with this, but; BFBVFS in the long term? I don't really CARE because it's a brand new hood and honestly it was fun rebuilding them, but thought I should ask. All systems appear go as of now.
74  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Trying to prevent a fireball- duplicate sim files on: 2008 February 07, 09:19:14
Eh, okay. Bit the bullet and sent my poor Sims to the beyond. I'd only been playing a few months anyhow, nothing that's impossible to regain. Thanks! X3
75  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Trying to prevent a fireball- duplicate sim files on: 2008 February 03, 02:54:28
I'm willing to do my best to save the 'hood though... I don't really want to lose it...
