Yet, most of us know using a conjunction to start a sentence is bad form in proper English and grammar. Conjunctions are used to connect words not start sentences.

But we do it anyway. Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

On the other hand, a preposition is a bad thing to end a sentence with.

That isn't a decree that information is more important, nor that the threadshitting was inherently wrong. Since it wasn't working, we are changing tactics.

How well has it ever worked, really?  You end up poking some animal with sharp sticks until it no longer recognizes friend from foe or El Presidente from the common rabble.

Occasionally you get some idiot who defends typing in a monolithic block of all caps.  Those people, you go out of your way to hurt.  Badly.  This one was stupid enough to defend typing "I" in lower case.  Not as bad, but definitely deserved to have the transgressions pointed out.  If a few friendly reminders don't correct the behavior, THEN you escalate.  The boss who is forced to part an employee's hair with a monkey wrench has failed as a manager somewhere along the line.  If SC hadn't been totally on the defensive, you might have been able to change her behavior.

Jenni, some friendly advice.  You can't win, as hundreds have found out before you.  Don't fight it.  Clean up your posts as best you can, and don't argue with the criticisms.  Every word you type in your own defense is a word you aren't typing in a contribution to the game.

For most of us, lousy grammar/spelling/capitalization/punctuation/usage is annoying.  So at least try, ok?

Dear Gawd some of that stuff is hideous.  Male hair styles that are just a variation on the bowl cut.  The hats look way out of place.  There's not much there that makes me want the game.  What's worse, they expect you to pay extra for it.

I forgot how ugly their demo Sims were.  I blame that on people here who have made some very good looking Sims. <sigh>

Hmm, yeah, because asking why people are so harsh is more rude than calling a stranger a fuck-whatever. Ok.

You now understand MATY! Cheesy

El Presidente has spoken.  Please use proper capitalization and punctuation and spelling and grammar.  You'll be glad you did.

SimplyComplex, welcome to MATY.  That's the way things are here, and nothing you can do will change that.  Trust me on this one.  Many people have tried.  All have failed.  I gave up long ago.

There's only one person you have to please, and that's Pescado.  None of the others matter.  Pescado likes it when people fight.  Always keep that in mind.

Just don't do anything too stupid.  Grammar and spelling and punctuation mistakes are regarded as stupid.  Proofread before you hit the Post button.

And hang in there.  MATY will always have information you can't get anywhere else, so it's worth putting up with the crap.

Slang.  There are lots of words for the same body part.

Their fruit choice is lame, though... EAxis should have used bananas and peaches [innuendos fully intended].

I believe "apples" is Russian slang for testicles.  I refuse to speculate on watermelon.  Cheesy

Since the tidal wave of sheep shows no sign of letting up, and the most important task is sorting the occasional nugget of wheat from the chaff, Pescado has strongly suggested that grammatical errors and other behaviour demanding the sharp spork be handled by a barrage of PMs, rather than excessive poking in the thread.

This is too choice. Pescado himself has decreed that the information is more important than the grammar and spelling.

I was wondering how long the threadshitting would go on.  Got the inappropriate trait much?

It gets quite boring waiting for work to be over or them sleeping if you don't have another sim to mess around with.

Yes, when they're sleeping or at work is the best time to mess around with another Sim. Smiley  Just make sure you're done before they wake up or get home from work. Cheesy

Update: As reported earlier, MATY has nothing to do with it (nor with piracy), they just found out the news. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

Looks like someone set them straight.  No pirates here, nope nope.

Well, klanly, I have no doubt that CyberOps made the hack that he uploaded, and I haven't seen where you uploaded anything.  Guess whose hack I'll be using, and who I'll be giving credit to?

There are a lot of things wrong with that $9 million number.  First of all, not every store will sell the game at full list price.  Check around and see what you can get it for.  Second, EA didn't lose $9 million; most of that will be lost by retailers.  EA only gets a small portion of it.  But they like to imply that EA lost that entire amount.

I wish I had $1 for everyone who says they'll buy the game even though they torrented it, but doesn't buy it.  This includes people who wait until it's remaindered to buy it from the bargain bin.  EA probably wishes the same thing.

Do you play with testing cheats enabled, and if so, are you getting any errors?  If you don't have it enabled, turn it on and see what you get.

Is this is a residence or an apartment?

43  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: CLEAN GAME throwing errors on loading apartments on: 2008 October 29, 22:11:37
Mine happened on a residentail zone "105 Sim lane" in pleasentville.

How did you get an apartment controller error on a residential lot?

I've been getting the same error without patch 1.

I did find a fix:  Move the family out of the apartment, then move them back in. In between I edited the apartment, moving one item inside the apartment then saved the lot.  When I moved the family back in, everything was just fine.

I think I know what the problem was.

A week or two prior to this visit, I had errors from the apartment resident controller.  I reset the controller something like 40 times and it kept erroring again instantly.  I eventually clicked on delete.  I'm going to guess that without the resident controller, none of the residents were able to green their motives.

This was the first time I'd ever made this Sim selectable, and the first time I'd ever visited inside her apartment.  I did invite her out once several days before, and had the option to "cheer up".  I did not make her selectable at that time.  When I visited this time, she peed herself and passed out before I ever made her selectable, so two motives were crashed before I ever looked at her stats.

My playable Sim had 4 days left as an adult, so I guess I played him for 25 days, all on the same version of the apartment hack.  I took the hack out, checked to see if it made any difference and there was a reset of some kind.  I got a message about visitors from the apartment come to greet me, and the other tenants' motives were all maxed.  I quit without saving, put the hack back in, and got the same message and tenant motive reset.

I had a roommate for a couple of weeks when the hack was in and had no problems with her motives at all.  That part of the hack seems to be working quite well.  I'd never tried a roommate before that, so I don't know what they're like unhacked.

I just remembered something else from the same lot.  I had another tenant apparently returning from work (he was in his work clothes) who peed the moment he appeared on the lot.  I almost never have unselectable Sims peeing.  It's happened maybe 5 times total since I got the game.  Someone wasn't taking a potty break at work.

EDIT to above:  I made the other Sim selectable after she passed out to see what the problem was.  For some reason my edit to the above post isn't saving.  This is not a roommate.  Roommates seem to work just fine.

I installed the apartment hack and moved a CAS Sim into an apartment.  About 20 some days later, I was setting up to move him out and decided to visit another apartment.  The picture tells the story.

My Sim knocked on the door and the femaler Sim peed the moment he walked in.  My Sim influenced her to bathe, and while she was in the shower, fixed some food from her fridge.  After returning from placing his plate on a table somewhere outside (gotta love Sim intelligence) she immediately passed out on the floor.

Apparently the only motive she had in the green when he arrived was social.  I thought the apartment hack was supposed to raise the motives based on what was in the apartment.  I don't see any evidence of this happening.

Is this intended behavior?

Is there any chance of depreciating all the items in an apartment prior  to calculating deposit?  I had a CAS Sim who couldn't move into a relatively cheap furnished apartment because the deposit was over 25K.

If  this is already being done, feel free to point and laugh.

Cars are still useful for other things.  You can Woohoo in them at home without alerting the wife.  You can take the kids to school if they wake up late.  You can go to work twice in the same day if you get a promotion.

I thought it was pretty obvious that this wasn't referring to using cars on vacation, but a response to Pescado's claim that cars are generally useless.  Of COURSE you don't go to work or school on vacation.
