I've had the tree "spawning problem" when I use certain downloaded maps. I have to spend hours getting rid of the damn trees...usually one by one.  My son suggested I use SimCity4, load the map, and see if I could get rid of the trees in SimCity4, then try loading the newer map.

I have not tried this. But it is a good suggestion, if you have SimCity4, and want to see if it will work. Otherwise, you just have to give up using those maps, (and there are some very nice ones) or spend hours deleting the damn trees, and now ponds, by hand.

If you are running Leopard 10.5. whatever...You can down load a house-sim installer, that works somewhat like clean installer.

Here is the link:

http://www.djssims.com/index.php?category=1&subcat=5

It is the one called: Mac UnPac Version 1.0.  Read the instructions on the website.

It works with Leopard, and java. I use it all the time.  It seems to load the sims and houses, I am trying to remember if it is houses or just sims, to the main hard drive.  Go to your Finder > Macintosh HD > and look for strange files with numbers and letters. The files will not be in a folder.  Just to be safe copy them to a folder to the desktop, then move that folder to your downloads folder in the Documents > EA Games > The Sims 2 > Downloads.  If you don't have such a folder make one, and make sure you capitalize the D in Downloads.  Unix is very picky about folder names, etc.  Put sims you install into a folder called SavedSims, in the (The Sims 2) folder.  Once again make sure to capitalize the letters.

Interesting you got the large update to work, from Aspyr.  It just borked my mac. It slowed it down to a crawl.  I just use the first Pets patch.  Good luck

I shall add this behind Mr Walt's house. It will look perfect. I am doing personal mini-challenge with my Mr. Insim Walt sim.  My son thought of it, he has an evil mind. This will go perfectly. Now if I can just get the telescope to call the aliens, the challenge can begin.

I know 2jeffs had a fix for that.  You can check out his forums, I think it was fixed with no schoolbus and homework hack. But check his forums to make sure. I do remember reading about the problem on his boards, and he did have a fix.

I don't have Apartment life, so I didn't pay that much attention to which download fixed it. But I do think it is the  the schoolbus-homework hack.

"You think that's bad. In my game, Brandi decided to have quads....."

I haven't had the social worker come since using Simlogical's NoWelfare  mod.

I haven't had it conflict with any mods from here or other places.

Okay, chancing a good tell me off zinger, here I go anyway.

I would like the mailbox idea. Money orders are nice.  That is how I used to do Ebay...way back in the old days. No one gets your check info...no once can steal much other then the money order. Not meaning you would steal the info...but since the vet admin, in the US, lost all of my husband's and daughters, and my info...to computer theft, because they are stupid...I really love the idea of a mailbox.  My post office fails to deliver or send my mail at least three times a year. Who knows where things end up, probably in dryer sock hell.

I'd go for a few T shirts as well, huge ones, to fit over my fat comfy body.

Yes I do donate to sites that I use. I'm an old linux folk, and know the importance of donations to keep the servers up...PPS I can't spell worth a crap.

This has nothing to do with your question and will probably bring great wrath down on my head...But

I just love your penguin icon thingy. That is really cute.

Hi,

I have had 2 strokes so know what you mean about getting things done that used to be easy...now try going to this site:

http://www.annoyances.org/

On the left side of the home page is the site menu or site guide: Go down and click Vista

Do a search for the runrdll thing error you've been getting...See I told you my brain isn't on bright mode any longer...

This website saved my butt several times over the years. You may find the fix or leave a message and check back and see if you get an answer. Windows 2000 used to get that runrdll thing error....and there were sites where you could just download the replacement and put it on your pc...

I went to linux back in 2000 and now use linux and an Imac...so it's been along time since I've even used windows....but this site is still there and going strong. Also google the error and see what it gives you.

Just a suggestion. You will probably have to be administrator to install it. You might try installing the sims in "safe mode" if vista has such a mode...Safe mode doesn't have as many files to conflict with the installer of your program you are trying to install. Go on line again, google  start vista in safe mode and see what you get...I don't know if you can still do that but it just might work.

My son has to install some games in safe mode on his windows 2000 machine...Yup we stopped at windows 2000 sigh...

9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Seasonal Age Project: RFC (Request For Comments) on: 2008 April 08, 08:58:21
Hi,

I have to agree that this seems to be a very long time for the sims aging. Why not just turn aging off and then age each sim as you like. Simlogical has a great hack that stops aging, and you use her cake to age the sims up. The sims still can get pg (late can't spell this late in the night)...

I can't imagine having a sim be pg that long, having a baby be in the baby stage that long...I hate the length of pregnancy (in the game already),  it takes forever, and the baby just lies there and cries. I speed up pregnancy to 2 hours, and have them take the baby to the hacked cake (at simlogical) and make the baby a toddler. If I think the toddler is really cute, and some are, I don't age them up for an extra day or two. I have yet have a teen make it much past the 8th day as a teen, and I send them off to college. Adults, if I like them I leave them alone and just play them. If I can't stand them, they get aged and the grim reaper is called, again with the hacked birthday cake.

What is going to happen when you get kids that just won't do homework? Sheee...I barely am able to stand them for the 7 or 8 days they are kids?

Hope this isn't to ignorant (sp again), but it seems to me you could just stop aging altogether, and age up as you like.

Still though, its great folks like you that make the stuff that makes the sims worth playing.  So thanks for the effort, and there are probably folks that will enjoy what you are doing.  Gee this sounds so crabby...I must be in crabby granny mode.

By the way, I do like kids, just not the way EA did them. Real babies are cute and sweet, toddlers drive you nuts with the no no stage...and are cute as well, and kids do their homework because mom and dad say so.  Teens are funny and sweet, I homeschooled my last two...and we have wonderful relationships. My first two are great adults, and I love them much. My grandkids are the best, of course, because they are mine.
