51  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The scarecrow on: 2007 March 28, 00:42:17
No. My point is, just because your adding no offense at the end of a statement doesn't mean you don't mean offense.

But I doubt she meant offense, as this post lead me to believe.

There seems to be no point in arguing over this, though.
52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The scarecrow on: 2007 March 28, 00:31:28
For example, Diala you're fat and ugly.  No offence.

See i bet you'd still get offended.   Tongue

No, I just laughed.

So, basically all you want is an apology for that comment? Because I don't see what else she can do for you. I just interpreted it as a poorly written statement, not something she meant genuine hatred in writing.
53  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The scarecrow on: 2007 March 28, 00:22:12
It was Amjoie who accused others of validating their existence through the game.

After re-reading the post in question, I can see how people can be offended, but like I said in the last post that I edited, didn't she say she meant NO offense from it? The whole issue cleared up for me then.
54  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The scarecrow on: 2007 March 28, 00:15:03
You can talk about what she said without attacking her for it.
I did.

How about this though?

I am fifty this year and don't need pixellated excitement to validate my existence

I don't see any evidence of her depending on Sims for her happiness. I think she already explained her train of thought, and I think she's handling it fine. Sure, I am willing to admit, some of the deaths she ranted about could've been avoided with watching over her Sims more. With the whole RL rant, she is just explaining why she didn't like seeing death, not that Sim deaths cause her a mental breakdown.

EDIT: Yes, she didn't word that sentence about RL issues all that well, but didn't she explain that she didn't mean any offense by it?
55  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The scarecrow on: 2007 March 27, 23:47:11
Then you're both in the wrong place -- being mean, flaming and fighting are part of the charter here. Smiley

I know that. But internet fights about internet fighting are the best! That way, everyone else just throws up their arms in exasperation and does something equally pointless, like panic and loot.

(EDIT: God, my Engrish is horrible today.)
56  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The scarecrow on: 2007 March 27, 23:14:54
And if amjore's complaining bothers you so much, then don't read it. Whether you believe her or not doesn't matter to me. You can talk about what she said without attacking her for it.
57  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: LTW's on: 2007 March 27, 22:27:38
I just tested it. It does appear to work correctly, which is great.
58  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: userStartup.cheat on: 2007 March 27, 21:56:55
In my experiments, the 45 degrees cheat and the moveobjects cheat didn't work in userstartup - as a "global" cheat, but only in each lot. Maybe that would explain something.

I've had the 45 degree cheat in my userStartup as a global cheat for a while, and it has always worked.
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: LTWs on: 2007 March 27, 21:43:50
I was just over at Squingeland and looked at the "New LTWs mod". It still requires you to modify the base files as well as drop stuff in Downloads. Maybe someone was thinking of one of his other LTW mods?
http://www.insimenator.net/showthread.php?t=26700
This is the Pets version. It hasn't been updated for Seasons yet as per his thread in the EP5 section entitled "Any LTW for all aspirations".

Huh. It seems the Seasons version of the hack just requires you to drop stuff in the Downloads folder. I'd be more than glad to use the hack if I didn't have to modify core game files.
60  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: LTW's on: 2007 March 26, 23:38:45
That being said, I ended up taking ltwvariety out of my game as I was ending up with almost everyone wanting to be either Celebrity Chef, Captain Hero, or Hall of Famer.  Some LTWs, such as General, I rarely (if ever) saw in my game.  I was using the mod to give a wider choice of career LTWs to my family sims - but it only added one that I could see (culinary).

If you want to go the easy (well, somewhat) route, you can download Squinge's All LTWs for All Aspirations hack. Personally, I love it.

leiela,

Try the additional LTWs that Squinge enabled http://www.insimenator.net/showthread.php?t=39837 These are just the 4 (Artist, Show Biz, Natural Science, & Paranormal ) that EA never enabled

Has anyone used this? It seems you just put the files in the downloads folder, without having to edit anything. But I heard somewhere that it wasn't safe.
61  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is anyone else having this much problems with flashing blue accessories in p on: 2007 March 25, 00:34:30
I had the same problem with one of Peggy's accessories, but I thought it was a problem with the object, since I rarely use accessories outside of glasses.
62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Need to reformat computer and need info on: 2007 March 20, 00:12:15
Hm, it seems the first partition doesn't have a drive letter, but the second one has the standard C: one. I think it is okay to leave it, since I DO believe that only partitions with letters show up in Windows. Then again, the only formatting I've done is on Virtual PC.

Also, did the computer restart with the Windows XP Installation wizard? If it is stuck like that, try rebooting it yourself. It SHOULD show up, according to this walkthrough.
63  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Fix: Performance sucking on Dual Core and HT CPUs on: 2007 March 18, 07:22:30
Thank you this is great. Grin

Looking at where you originally got the information from, I noticed that there was an extra step, which involved editing the Registry. Is it alright to do that, or should we just ignore it?
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deaths in Seasons on: 2007 March 18, 02:33:33
The location of the tombstone/urn decides what it is. Indoors, it is an urn. Outdoors, it is a tombstone. You can switch which kind it is by moving it in or out.

I never used the inventory to move tombstones/urns. I just click on it and move it to community lot of choice. It's a lot easier, as well.

Auto spell check? Don't see it. Do you mean little red lines under words? If you are using Firefox, that's a feature.
65  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Moving sims from one neighbourhood to another on: 2007 March 17, 07:30:28
The more technical details can be explained by someone more awesome than I, but it is a VBT... unless you completely purge said Sim of all friendships, contacts, memories, family tree, and pretty much anything linking him/her to the neighborhood. It is so much effort, you might as well just use Sim Surgery on SimPE. (I haven't used it myself, but it is a common suggestion.)

EDIT: Here's a tutorial on how you can use SimPE to clone Sims. I gave it a quick test, and it seems to work well.
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maybe the trees need therapy? on: 2007 March 13, 23:59:32
Feh, no matter what I do, I can't get some of the trees that I have beyond the "sickly" stage. I prune them and spray them (I have a couple of ladybug houses around them), but there seems to be no other option I know of to take care of them. Hell, I put a freakin sprinkler under each of them, thinking they may need water. Stupid trees.
67  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: New graphical glitches on: 2007 March 12, 20:44:14
I have no advice to share with you, since I am sure you've done everything possible that I can think of. I just wanted to say that I feel your pain, if only on a minor scale.

The only thing I can suggest is to: a) buy a new card, or b) wait for nVidia to do something about it.
68  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Video Card Upgrade on: 2007 March 12, 16:33:17
I did it... I ordered the graphics card I wanted, a 700w power supply (I finally found some sites that spoke enough idiot for me to at least get the message that more power = good), and 4 MB of RAM.

...did you make sure the power supply is compatible with your motherboard? That is why I stuck with a low grade graphics card instead of going beyond that and having to buy a new power supply, because it seems the only power supplies that I can buy for it are only 300W high. My motherboard is a MicroATX, by the way.
69  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Overheating has gone too far!! on: 2007 March 11, 02:24:18
Note that the alternate URL http://148.122.173.174/pplace/main.htm works, so maybe the simwardrobe.com domain has just gone down.

*presses "Thanks" button* Now I have something to hold me over until the Awesome version is released.
70  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Overheating has gone too far!! on: 2007 March 10, 21:58:42

Is it just me, or is anyone else having trouble visiting that site?
71  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bathroom envy on: 2007 March 09, 03:03:26
They really do.  I'm doing the Insane Asylum Challenge.  I've built them an enormous day room with everything the challenge allows, and where does everybody end up?  In front of the single solitary toilet that's supposed to serve eight people.  But  it's not that they're lining up to use it; they're having pillow fights or playing red hands.  Oh, sure if I wanted to have a pillow fight, I'd head for a 3x4 room instead of a room with space to run around in.  Stupid sims.

Does anybody know WHY they love the bathroom so much?

I am doing the same challenge, and as far as I can tell, the reason why they hang around the bathrooms so much is because they all head that way at the same time. In the process of trying to shoo each other out, they get distracted and play red hands or kicky ball.
72  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Seasons screwed up my graphics, but only on big houses. on: 2007 March 07, 21:01:52
Hm, I suppose it depends on computers. Or luck. My card used to work just fine before Seasons. I can still play the game, but not on certain lots... which sucks, actually.

Unless someone has any other ideas to help this issue, the best idea I can think of is to get a better/different card.
73  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Seasons screwed up my graphics, but only on big houses. on: 2007 March 07, 18:51:59
Well, I've given up on this card working. After trying multiple drivers and getting no results, I managed to get some money to buy a ATI Radeon 9600 Pro (256 MB) graphics card.

"Compatible with Nvidia," my ass.
74  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Seasons screwed up my graphics, but only on big houses. on: 2007 March 07, 12:16:51
Or you can do like many of us did, and dump the nVidia card for an ATI.

I was afraid of that idea. I wouldn't have any problem ditching my nVidia card for something better. It is just that I r teh broke. If I am desperate enough, I can manage to get the money, but I'd rather try whatever options I can before resorting to that.

I'll look through the older threads here for those drivers. Thank you.
75  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Seasons screwed up my graphics, but only on big houses. on: 2007 March 07, 12:09:13
I just bought and added Seasons. On most parts, the game seems to be okay. However, if I happen to enter a large lot of any kind, the graphics immediately screw up. I managed to capture some screenshots of the borkiness.

I am using a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 (128 MB) graphics card. Should I attempt to update the drivers, in hopes that the problem will be resolved, or is there any other way I can fix this problem? BTW, I tired lowering my graphic quality in the game, but that didn't solve the issue.
