101  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: "Sleeping Through College" Challenge (draft) on: 2005 December 21, 17:34:43
Is using the Secret Society's "Grade Hack" forbidden? After all, it is part of the game, and the whole process of sucking up to the SS might bring interesting results. If so, I am willing to try that aspect of it.
102  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Monitor Screen Has Gone All Green on: 2005 December 19, 18:18:52
Personally, I like my LCD screen. It is something about the screen that makes it more... radiant. Colors seem to be much more brighter on it. CRT monitors seem to lack that radiance.

But hey, that is just my taste.
103  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: LaverwinkleSims.com is now open for business. on: 2005 December 01, 20:09:42
I seem to have this feeling of dejá vu. Didn't I just leave there? Or is that here? Gleep...

That is because both forums use the standard design that comes with Simple Machines Forum. GloamingMerle just opened the forum, so she hasn't decorated it yet.

The only problem I have with the forum is that you cannot view images and such if you are a guest, while on this forum you can. I would really appreciate it, since I view Sims stuff while I am at work, and perfer to log in as less as possible.
104  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: No Unlinkage On Urnstone Delete on: 2005 November 29, 22:42:55
Is this hack compatible with games that don't have Nightlife? I would personally like to save all details in a character file, but I don't want ghosts haunting all the time, and/or there isn't much room for a tombstone in a lot.
105  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: House has disappeared, but plot of land still there!??? on: 2005 November 16, 17:17:02
That happened to me once. The house disappeared, but the plot of land and the family living in it still remained. A pity, because I was quite fond of their house, too. It wasn't a corner lot, though.

I have no idea what caused it, but it hasn't happened again. Yet.
106  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hearts instead of plumbbobs on: 2005 November 14, 17:37:16
Do you have the InSimenator? I heard it caused this sort of problem, plus the heart in the pictures looks a lot like the heart InSimenator uses.

BTW, nice house. Where did you get the furniture?
107  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: corrupt computer? on: 2005 October 31, 18:26:32
What hacks do you have in your game? I don't know if that is what's causing the problems, but it wouldn't hurt, just in case someone sees something wrong.
108  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hippie Commune Challenge - the ultimate in wussy goodness :) on: 2005 October 31, 18:22:02
Could the Sims make money by paintings, novels, and instrument tips? Even if they are against "the system" and all, they need to eat, and there are no ways to plant farms in their backyards.
109  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How much is too much on: 2005 October 31, 17:59:49
I don't know how many items I have right now, but I know I have 200-300 MBs worth, including hacks. I try to keep it organized, since my game loads slowly due to my computer. Hopefully, I'll be able to upgrade it soon.
110  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Any getting Sims2 on PSP? on: 2005 October 27, 18:54:46
I don't have a PSP, but I have a DS. If I get a console version of the Sims 2, I'd get the DS one, because using a touch screen for something like the Sims 2 is a LOT easier than using controller buttons.
111  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Another deleted goodbye on: 2005 October 27, 04:47:05
About Sim players ages... I am only 20, which is quite young compared to many of the ages of people here. Of course, I have no kids, no husband/wife, and no full-time job (I have a part-time job, because I go to college as well). Hell, I am still a kid in my mind.
112  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? on: 2005 October 26, 15:37:54
Was the money for the hot tub subtracted from his account? I assume these are both playable Sims. Sorry, I don't have NL yet.
113  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: If EA releases another party pack what would it have to have for you to buy it? on: 2005 October 25, 18:49:46
That is my personal pet peeve about the community: men stuff, especially clothing, seem to be far and few in between. Sure, women get 30 wedding dresses with only a change of color in the small belt around her waist, but I rarely find anything for men that doesn't have some "cool" company logo slapped onto it.

Like I said in another thread, I like objects, especially usable objects. Kitchen appliances, bathroom fixtures, and all that stuff would make me consider buying a booster pack. What would win me over, however, is if Sims could store food in the fridge or some object, where it wouldn't go bad. It sucks when I have four sims hungry at the same time, but the game makes six meals, so two end up setting out and going bad. It'd be excellent for Sims in a hurry.
114  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I was given a birthday gift by EA on: 2005 October 16, 23:15:12
You know, I am almost tempted to ask you for that $15 off... NL would be $19 then, and I could be able to get that much from a parent. (poor college student, heh)

But I wonder why it doesn't apply for international players? I doubt money conversion is a problem, since they offered it to Canada, which has a different money system than the US.
115  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Don't hate me because I have to pee... on: 2005 October 16, 03:52:59
I had assumed they had those thought bubbles because the Sim is gone or has left, hence why they have an X over the Sim's face. As long as the thoughts tend not to degrade the relationships between Sims, I have no real problem with them.
116  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Raiders of the Lost Sim on: 2005 October 16, 03:49:47
We have bought a couple of PC games that were meant to have girl appeal (including My Little Pony), but the games were totally lame.

Unfortunately, this is one of the gaming rules that has always stayed consistent: Never buy games made especially for young girls unless you are looking for crap that is too pink and too female-stereotypical. I've downloaded some NES, SNES, and Genesis ROMs of Barbie games, just to check out the horror, and they weren't even worth the effort to download. Idiotic, no challenge, fashion-orientated, and PINK. I've NEVER seen so many different values of pink sprites gather in one place, and hell if I want to see it again.

(Though, I have to admit, Barbie Super Model for the SNES was hilarious, for all the wrong reasons. For instance, in one level, Barbie drives down a Hollywood street. Cars there have no regard for the rules of the road. They appear out of nowhere, drive backwards, and purposely try to crash into you. A lot of the other levels feature Barbie walking and skating down a road. Random birds, balls, and kids would try to make her trip and fall on her butt. If she falls too many times, it's GAEM OVAR. Hahaha.)

And finally, if you are interested in old NES, SNES, and Genesis games, there's always ROMs and emulators, but that's skirting the edges of legality unless you actually own the cartridges of the games you have ROMs for. That isn't completely unlikely; a lot of the old RPGs relied on a battery to keep the saved games, and those only had a life of about 6 years and are a pain in the ass to replace. Playing console games on the computer is pretty awkward with a keyboard, though.

Ah, yes. ROMs. They are considered illegal, yes, but no one has ever been arrested or charged for having them, so they are similar to recording shows on a VCR in the legal sense. Websites that have them are rather easy to find; while they DO go down every once in a while, a ton of new ones will pop in their place. It takes some getting used to, especially controlling with the keyboard, but you can also buy computer controllers that look strikingly similar to console controllers.

Batteries on games tend to last a bit longer than 6 years... if they were well taken care of. Most of my SNES games with batteries (those that I bought at launch) still can keep memory. However, in a used game shop, you don't know the treatment of the cartridge in question, or if it even still keeps memory. I *think* some stores have refunds and exchange policies for cartridges with no working batteries, but I am not sure. I've only bought a few old cartridge games in those stores.
117  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Raiders of the Lost Sim on: 2005 October 15, 09:38:30
I don't know what they have for the PC, but with console systems, there are a lot of genres to choose from. Sure, there are a lot of one-shooters, racing, and sports games,  but there are also puzzles, RPGs, platforms, and many others. Personally, I find enough console games to play to keep me happy. However, I am not a person of quite "female" tastes, and have been playing video games since I was very young. I may not relate to the "average female" out there.

What I recommend is that you go to a game store that sells old consoles like the Super Nintendo and Genesis and look at those. They tend to have a lot of good games that aren't violent and graphic, simply due to limitations in the graphics. They're cheap, but they are very good games, that sold for about $30 many years ago when they were new. What I would be careful of is of games that have battery memories, that the saved files on your games may suddenly become 'deleted.' Make sure the store has a return policy just in case you get a faulty cartridge.

If you like Mario, I recommend similar series like Sonic, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, and many, many others. There are tons, and they tend to be similar in style. Sonic is the next best thing to Mario, too, except with animals.

...as for PC games, count me out.
118  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Decreased fire & burglary since Nightlife? on: 2005 October 15, 03:15:48
couldnt soemone make a hack to increase the chance to get burglared? Or createa "burglar on demand"? Cheesy Would be greate for storytelling! Cool

Here is something for ya: Daily and weekly burglaries I haven't used it, however.

I've never had a burglary. Not once. Maybe because I only make my Sims sleep when their energy is low, no matter what time of day it is, so a lot of them tend to be nocturnal. Maybe one of these days I should download one of those hacks just to experience what a burglary is like.
119  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Censor Blur Re-revisited (post-patch) on: 2005 October 14, 21:47:19
I have just tried that anti-blur "patch" and it works fine with just Sims2Uni.
120  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / No turkey? on: 2005 October 14, 08:36:23
I am sure most people have heard of the "no pork chops" eyeliner... could there be that there is a "no turkey" eyeliner as well?

I recently realized that my Sims should be able to cook turkey, but the option never comes up in the menu. I know it takes 6+ skill, but not even those Sims can have turkey. Has anyone else had or even heard of this problem? I assume it is a download that is causing this problem.
121  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Censor Blur Re-revisited (post-patch) on: 2005 October 14, 08:33:35
Yeah. Unfortunately, I got the censor blur back too. I also have only Sims2Uni as well. Hopefully, someone will fix this in a short amount of time.
122  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Any of you want to be on TV? on: 2005 October 14, 06:17:56
I admit MTV can still be a junk-food indulgence for me. I watch the Real World. I'm 35 frickin' years old.

My mom watches the Real World, and she is almost 50. I don't watch it, because I do not care the least bit about reality TV.

*shrug* I am not a TV watcher, much less someone who voluntarily watches MTV (and I am under 22). I don't care if Sims 2 was featured on it or not. If it was just MUSIC TV, then I would probably watch it. However, it isn't. It's Random Teenage and Young Adult Crap TV.
123  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Holiday Addon pack announced on: 2005 October 12, 04:06:42
If this was a set of regular items (or items that have any use to me), I would probably be willing to blow the $15 on it. I am an item junkie, after all. However, for just holiday items? I don't even use those, or feel the need to use them. Still, I will give some consideration to it, and hopefully a list of the items and possible interactions and special features will come out on a Sims 2 website somewhere. Chances are, I won't be buying it, unless it REALLY lowers in price.
124  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: boolprop -- I'm so sorry!! on: 2005 October 11, 07:02:23
Basically what Reggikko said. With 1, just as long as you avoid holding shift while clicking, and try to keep your mouse arrow away from things such as needs and skills, you should be fine. However, for something like moveobjects, it is best to turn it off when you are done. You might just accidently move or delete something that you shouldn't have.
125  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How many Sims are you playing? on: 2005 October 10, 04:59:09
I don't play any of the Maxis neighborhoods. None of them seemed interesting to me. However, I play one custom neighborhood (I have another custom neighborhood, which is a test neighborhood), with about 31 playable Sims... which kind of amazes me, since I could've swore I had more... not to mention that a lot of them are going to be elders, and hence are soon going to croak.

Perhaps that is why it is so easy for me to play them all while keeping them relatively the same age. I also don't marry townies or dormies. None of them appeal to me that much.
