51  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Clean Uberhood (Merged EAxis neighbourhoods) - NOT the same as HP's/Mixreality's on: 2011 April 07, 17:11:20
Having an issue here...
Okay, so I downloaded the Uberhood, and I couldn't get it to load in the game. Belladonna Cove just kind of disappeared--it wasn't on the neighborhood screen when I opened the game.

Currently I have the E001 (from the download) and Tutorial folders in my Neighborhoods folder, plus NeighborhoodManager.package.

What might cause this? I have all EPs.

Did you download both files (part 1 and part 2) and extract them into the same folder? Does your E001 folder have both a Characters and a Lots folder? Did you have a Belladonna Cove/E001 folder in your game before, and if so, did you remove it before putting in the uberhood?

Do you have Mansion & Garden Stuff (required)?
52  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: How To Tell If Graphics Card Is Aging on: 2011 March 19, 23:10:32
When my graphics card was dying, TS2 would frequently freeze and everything on the screen would explode in colourful crap. Actually, the whole machine froze and had to be rebooted. A couple of weeks later, the graphics card died. I could tell by the fact that Windows wouldn't start and my screen was covered in wonderful green and pink stripes.

If your graphics card is going, you'll know. It'll be more serious than slight bluriness. Are you sure you're not just remembering wrong because you're used to TS3 being more shiny?
53  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: A question about neighborhood corruption on: 2011 March 16, 22:04:27
Indeed. I've tried extracting her with SimPE, just for fun, and her file causes Body Shop to crash. Tongue Probably because of the corrupted face.
54  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: A question about neighborhood corruption on: 2011 March 16, 21:19:53
I have absolutely no idea. My only guess is that it's related to the neighbourhoods being obviously worked on while the game was still under development and things were probably changed around several times (evidence pointing towards this are things like garbage relations, duplicates of certain sims (Skip Broke, Nervous Subject), pictures of premades with older versions of hairstyles and clothes, etc). They probably broke them along the way, and probably not intentionally. And then couldn't be bothered to fix them, because that's how EAxis rolls.

Oh, and most of the sims in Olive's graveyard are also completely busted, but because they have more data in their character files they can be resurrected. Apparently doing this can corrupt your 'hood, although I've never tried. I attempted fixing the most obvious borkedness in my cleaned Strangetown, like lacking aspirations/zodiacs/personalities, and wrong age and sex, but their faces are still corrupted, and I wouldn't recommend touching them, ever. Hopefully the ghosts are safe.
55  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: A question about neighborhood corruption on: 2011 March 15, 20:19:52
I believe the stubs of the dead sims won't cause any trouble, as long as you leave them alone and don't try screwing around with them. I don't think the memories really do any harm, either.

Try Lord Darcy's section.
57  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Unsavoury charlatan on: 2011 February 27, 07:56:27
Maybe she was feeling neglected.
58  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation (updated for Seasons) on: 2011 February 27, 07:53:32
That happens a lot with me too.  I would assume it's because downtownies are based on premade templates.

It is. The game doesn't check to see if it's already used a template, so if you're unlucky you can end up with quite a lot of duplicates (or even triplicates or more). I always used the townie tree/gun instead and made them one by one, saving between each and exiting the lot without saving if I got a duplicate (DON'T just discard them, as the game will leave a stub file in your neighbourhood). Tedious, but I think it's the only way to avoid doubles.

Also, quite a few of the downtownie templates are based on the broken face templates 21 and 25, and having Argon's fix in won't help that. Be especially wary of Face 1 looking teens.
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Unsavoury charlatan on: 2011 February 26, 21:13:20
I guess I had forgotten that since I only ever saw her at uni community lots:

Um... she's not supposed to be on uni community lots, either. Crumplebottom is a downtown only NPC (except in Seasons, where she can climb out of the wishing well if you get a bad romance wish, but I don't think she sticks around after the purse-beating).
60  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Unsavoury charlatan on: 2011 February 26, 08:23:33
When the NPCs start behaving and walking around like regular townies, it's a very obvious sign that everything is about to blow up.

Virtual Machine.
62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stopping the plague of the perma-plat? on: 2011 February 09, 17:33:17
Well, there is this thread found at the very top of the first page in Peasantry with this new hack that's got its name right there in the thread title.

And I do believe one of Pescado's hacks makes them go permaplat a lot later, rather than two minutes after reaching adulthood.
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Mmkay, I'm stupid. Friend count for jobs question. on: 2011 January 26, 07:56:42
The total household friend count only applies to family friends that are outside of the household

The OP is aware of that, and even pointed it out. However, family members outside the household still don't count as family friends, unless they're friends with someone in the household who's not directly related to them (doesn't have the little 'family' icon in the relationships tab).
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Mmkay, I'm stupid. Friend count for jobs question. on: 2011 January 25, 05:48:39
and that includes in-laws as well.

No, it doesn't.
65  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Strang re-installed Strangetown on: 2011 January 23, 07:55:01
I'd like to apologise for helping the behaviourally challenged, I didn't know at the time.
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Strang re-installed Strangetown on: 2011 January 21, 16:48:57
Chloe and Lola are half-sisters to Jenny, Pascal, Vidcund and Lazlo, but in an unfixed, default Maxis-fail version of Strangetown, their family relationships are not set up, allowing for incest and fun things like that. Most "clean" versions of Strangetown have this fixed.
67  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Bizarro World on: 2011 January 09, 21:03:43
Try opening the V001 template in SimPE and see if they're in there?
68  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation (updated for Seasons) on: 2011 January 03, 15:06:40
Okay, it's mostly working. I still have Apartment Life social-group townies, though. Any way to get rid of them (beyond just summoning them and having a massacre?)

Yes. Find an empty template for the AL stealth hood somewhere in this thread. To avoid new ones spawning, you'll need the notownierespawn hack, but you'll still get them if you make apartments (although Cyjon has a mod to make regular townies live in empty apartments instead of social group townies).
69  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation (updated for Seasons) on: 2011 January 01, 21:54:46
This says it's "updated for Seasons"; do these work for Apartment Life? I'm assuming so, but would like confirmation. Are there any changes I should be making to the procedure?

Updated for Seasons just means that the tutorial's been updated to include Seasons-hood-specific instructions (G002, etc).

ETA: What would happen if I didn't add the recommended hacks? Would the game just spawn townies and such on its own?

Yup.
70  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Deleted community lot trashcan on: 2010 December 14, 17:46:03
Community garbage is buyable in the buy catalog (try outdoor / misc).

I know, I just wasn't sure if it was the same one as the default (which can't be deleted without move_objects), but all the search results I found when doing further investigation today seem to indicate so. Thanks.

Edit: Duh, when I re-entered the lot, the game had made one of the previously moveable trashcans immobile, effectively replacing the default, I guess. Well, you learn something new every day.
71  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Deleted community lot trashcan on: 2010 December 13, 19:41:17
So, I'm making over a pre-made EAxis lot (La Fiesta Tech Student Union), and in true sadistic EA fashion, they had for some reason replaced the default trashcan next to the payphone with a "fake" one from the buy menu. There was a whole bunch of other trashcans scattered around the lot, and I deleted a couple of them - with move_objects on - before discovering the fake. Now the real one is missing - so either EAxis deleted the real trashcan themselves, or I did it accidentally.

What I'm wondering is if this is a lot-breaking VBT, if I can fix it somehow (I could only find buyable residential mailbox + trashcan online, though, not community...), or if the normal buyable trashcan is an adequate replacement?

At least the phone is the real thing.
72  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Data-Clearing Borkination on: 2010 December 13, 06:01:26
Did you try the good old quit game, reboot, restart game? And try a fresh neighbourhood?

There's no way some default replacement eyes caused this. No CC could cause this.
73  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Deleted 2: Electric Boogaloo! on: 2010 December 05, 21:07:55
Thanks Pescado and Tarlia.

My neighborhood had generations of sims, but most of them are dead. I'll just let the dead be gone. I'm moving the youngest generation only, there are like 30 sims. I hope that's managable. Pescado, I noticed that your Lot Debugger can eliminate most of the irrelevent "gossip" memories and "meeting someone" things, and that greatly reduces my work. Thanks!

I'm not sure how to rebuild the relationships using SimPE, but I guess if I don't care about preserving the family lineage then it's probably just some marriage relationships. Thanks for the idea Tarlia~~

If you go the SimPE-clone-CAS route, you do not need to worry about memories. Only the sim's appearance will be cloned.

Setting relationships in SimPE is really very easy, there's a nice graphical interface with slider bars and checkboxes.
74  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Deleted 2: Electric Boogaloo! on: 2010 December 05, 11:31:35
An easier and cleaner (but still tedious) way is to write down all the stats and relationships of your favourites, clone them in SimPE, and then recreate them in CAS in a new neighbourhood, and set any relationships you couldn't set in CAS in SimPE.
75  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims 2 not responding after buying clothes on: 2010 November 29, 22:07:26
I've got no idea. Sorry. Just curious, why do you think it's related to (the amount of?) clothing?
