51  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: So did anyone else notice the knockoff Brady Bunch family? on: 2009 June 15, 04:48:23
I'm a big Brady Bunch fan myself and had a wide grin on my face when discovering them.  I just wish they had made them look more like them - I know, I know - Likenesses could get a court case, but I can't imagine that whoever owns the Brady rights (Tori Spelling or her Dad? Cheesy) would actually go that far.  Still, this is America and it just might I suppose.

However, I'm thrilled with the house and plan to re-make the Bradys myself properly.  They got the traits right for the most part - but is that supposed to be a Marcia/Jan combination?  Plus, there's still no way to include Alice... unless she's a neighboring friend.

Of course, I will do none of this until the whole story progression thing is solved - I'm very close to getting Awesomemod, but I'd like to wait a bit longer.

I love the fact that they throw TV references into the game.
52  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Teen stolen by cops after curfew bug on: 2009 June 09, 05:17:57
I actually like bugs like this to an extant in order to make interesting story fodder.  You could consider the teen as a troubled youth who ran away from the police and your neighborhood altogether.  Perhaps he had some terrible secret or just needed to get as far away from the hood as possible.  There's lots of interesting ways to use such bugs that add drama to the stories.  It would be cool if he popped up later on but it sounds as though he's a goner.

With that all being said, bugs like this are certainly annoying and hopefully this won't happen on a regular basis for you and others.

Next WoW?  They have no reason to leave this WoW for like another 5 years at least.  Maybe you mean next WoW expansion pack, which, I imagine they've had planned for several years already.

At the comments about Blizzard doing a Sims spin-off..just..no. There is a reason they are a successful company, because they don't do things like that.

Huh.  That sounds like a statement from any one of my friends that don't take the Sims seriously at all.  I hope I'm misinterpreting that because this is one of the last places I'd expect someone to go all "it's not a real game" on that statement.  If Blizzard were to do a Sims clone correctlyand say fuck the teen rating, we'd have ourselves something interesting to play I'd wager. They do have sick amounts of cash lying about the place after all.  And the Sims success should be enough to make any CEO drool at the thought of such a lucrative franchise.

That's another thing I just don't get.  With the glutinous success the Sims franchise has had, there should be more clones.  I know of the crappy attempts at clones so far, but no one really goes much further than that. You'd think Blizzard would give it a go in a more extreme way with all the cashola they have.  Or maybe Sony (eek).

I just want TS2 with an open neighborhood and traits, pretty much ... not this goal-orientated, gotta catch 'em all frankengame.
We are working on it.

I just thought you should know that statement made me feel all warm and fuzzy.  For the life of me, I don't know why EA hasn't made you freakin' head programmer and game emperor yet. If I was a major shareholder I'd bloody demand they did just that and beckon you with many 0's on your paycheck.
56  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Story Progression Toggle: Is it borked? on: 2009 May 27, 06:22:38
You're right, of course.  They..are all townies now...   Sad

I just don't get how they can take a game that makes many millions of dollars and decide "We'll just change the most intrinsic feature of the game and take control away from the players! Yeah, That's it!" "That will go over great!"

Everything should have been made optional in steps.  There should be checkboxes for:  Can your sims marry autonomously? Can they reproduce? Can they have relationships? (Move out should not have even been an option - that's the most ridiculous thing I've heard of)  And of course, it all should have worked correctly.

I'm to the point where I wish they had just made another Sims2 expansion that allowed traits and CAST.  CAST is badass.
57  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Story Progression Toggle: Is it borked? on: 2009 May 27, 04:45:28
I was willing to experiment with the Story Progression Mode until I heard about the "moving out feature"...

WTF!  How did this ever get past anyone in EA without someone saying "oh that's a bad idea" or "maybe we should ask the fans"Huh

Like I want to spend hours creating a sim, their home, etc only for them to be deleted by the game when I switch families???  I'm absolutely furious about this aspect.

That in mind, I pray to the gods that are More Awesome Than Me to make a story progression mode that completely eliminates this feature - a "No one Leaves this Town Alive" mod. (except townies.  Fuck townies.)

Whoever makes the first Bust Control Slider gets a prize.

Well, that's just creepy as hell...

Maybe she's got special powers.  You should rename her "Stretch".   Grin

On the other hand though, EA never ceases to amaze me with the sheer amount of bugs they have in their released games.  They are now renowned for it and still it goes unaddressed.  Completely sickening especially when they delay the game "to make improvements"  (see - "really we don't see as much of a profit in our designated quarter if we release it on our original date")

Profit schmoozing and all, they could take that time to fix these things. But they don't.
60  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 20, 15:49:26
I don't have the game. I have two questions:

1. Townies. I know they come back.  Does anyone see a way to eliminate them or at the very least prevent them from breeding? (Aging them prematurely,Getting rid of males)?  They have homes right? Can their homes be deleted? There must be some way to destroy the townies. Can we kill their offspring at child ages?

2. The awful one family per neighborhood thing.  What happens if you set your family/neighborhood on a long life span/slow time?  Would it be easier to play more than one family this way without having your unplayed family get all fishbowled?

I am hating the one family bit, but I feel strongly that there might be a cheat that allows families to be paused that we don't know about yet.

Please oh please let this be a beta.
61  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Community Lot Skilling and Enthusiasm on: 2008 March 04, 10:28:02
omg...do you mean to say that with this expansion pack, that EAxis didn't even see fit to allow us to have our community lots that we build gain enthusiasm?!  So if I build a gym and send my sims there, they would not gain enthusiasm?  (hadn't done this yet)  That's just as ludicrous as it gets...wtf were they thinking??  I wondered why there were "secret lots" for all the hobbies.  What a load of crap.  Well, I will definitely be getting this puppy when it's all uber-perfected and such.  Thanks for doing this!

62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: FreeTime questions on: 2008 March 04, 03:46:26
On the subject of BFF's, I wish they had made it so the sims could have a maximum of like 5 BFFs but made them never decay after that - BFFs should never decay in my book.  But family shouldn't be BFFs either...

I will never understand why they don't ask us, the players, how we would like the BFF system to work before they implement it?  They could easily have made that a forum topic and let us decide how many BFFs should be allowed and the effects of such a title.
