Somehow a real cat has managed to get into your game. Real cats can only be hugged when they want it. Tongue
2  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Play Style: The Nitty Gritty on: 2007 July 20, 22:50:12
I spend lots of time building. Not because I enjoy it particularly, with the limitations of build mode, but because I want houses where my Sims can live sensibly without the frustration of unplayable design tricks. Early on I downloaded hundreds of lots from the exchange, all occupied, some of the Sims are still in my game (yes, I know that's a VBT, but no problems so far), but not one of the houses survived the first play session. I find it easier to move a family out, bulldoze, and start over, than to renovate.

I do not decorate. If they don't need it to live, they don't need it. I don't landscape for the same reason. Planting flowers causes weeds.

I CAS Sims when I am starting a hood, then let genetics take its course. Townies and dormies are good only for the occasional fling, only playables get to add their genetics to the pool. In my first Pleasantville, Beau Broke married Meadow Thayer, who promptly became invisible, so I have stayed away from that genepool.

I have a number of custom hoods, each started with a storyline in mind. If I can't remember why I started that hood (I don't use the storyline box) then the hood gets deleted.

Free will is important, but so is less stupidity. I spend a lot of time nuking actions that are inappropriate at the time. If bladder and hygiene are equally low, who the hell takes a shower first! I can see the entire lot at most times, with walls cut away, so I can head off that stupid sim before he/she does something permanent

The Director's Cut is an automatic install for me. I use InSim because my sims WILL be happy, whether they like it or not. I did try InTeen for a while, but it borked more than it fixed, and ACR provided the functionality I was looking for. I use Monique's computer, mostly for the express delivery option. testingCheats is rarely on. The College Clock helps me get my YAs through Uni. I use very little CC, because I don't really care what things look like, as long as they work.

My Sims rarely leave home, except in pursuit of their occupation. The time warp involved with community lots usually requires a fair amount of micromanagement to overcome.

There is room for more mad scientists, I'm more concerned about the types of jobs where there really IS only one (like Mayor), or a small, finite number (like Chief of Staff).

The term is 'borke' no matter what the Urban Dictionary says. I did not say I coined it, I said I discovered it (here, at least). And it was the result of an otherwise intelligent human being having fingers that move at a different speed to his brain. Tongue

My comment was a joke intended to point out that the use of lazy language at this point was clearly a put-on. Roll Eyes

Chill Cool
And I was just being argumenative for the sake of being a pain in the nether regions~!

Oh, that's all right then.  Kiss

*glomps Elfie and flower, and Zazazu too

Lyke, ZOMG!  I HAET THT TWO!!  I DONT TINK u shld us hax cuz tey bork yer gam and most importantly dont use boolprop cuz it causes errors!  U SHLD MOVE OWNED LOTS INTO THE LOTBIN AND PLACE THEM IN A NEW NAYBERHIOOD!!!!!!1\

LOLz peece!

There is a serious grammatical error in this sentence. Roll Eyes
The use of the term 'borke' in the midst of the lazy language is a contradiction, because 'borke is a MATY term (I should know, I discovered it Cool), and MATY-ites do not use lazy language. Angry

9  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Global Props File on: 2007 February 04, 11:32:03
There is a 'globalProps' file in the /MyDocuments/.../config directory with userStartup, which seems to change when you first play the game. It would make sense to use this copy, as that would be the one the game uses.

Personally, I wouldn't change anything in the game directories.

I'll give it a try.
10  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Global Props File on: 2007 February 04, 03:02:34
I hope I've attached this properly.

In future, if you want to fiddle with the startup, use the 'userStartup.cheat' file in the /config folder in your data directory.

and when you save a backup, leave it in the same directory with a different suffix (like .bak or .ori) Wink

Edited to fix a file name
11  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Insane loading time on: 2007 January 30, 11:09:30
It may not have anything to do with the game.
Do a virus check and defragment the hard drive, these procedures work wonders from time to time.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Birthin' Babies and Genetics on: 2007 January 15, 20:05:35
To actually answer your question (I think), whether you click the dice in CAS or use the Lot Debugger, your actions apply to that session of play, no matter how many families you play during that session. If using CAS, you need to click a significant number of times, and should click a different number of times each time. The Lot Debugger generates a random number, then generates (and discards) that number of sims.
13  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Old Yankee "4 Score" Door problem on: 2006 December 27, 20:07:00
Is it just the "4 Score' door that is doing this?
It sounds like an issue I have noticed when doors are misplaced with 'moveobjects on'
14  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Infant won't grow up (insert witty title here :P) on: 2006 December 12, 18:23:10
I think the problem was caused by him Auto-Aging while the mother was holding him by the birthday cake,
I haven't heard THAT euphemism before Cool, and it sounds painful! Lips sealed
15  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Infant won't grow up (insert witty title here :P) on: 2006 December 12, 11:20:19
The problem seems to have something to do with the 'holding' action. When I get parents stuck like that, I nuke their queues, get them to put the child down on the floor, then reissue the grow-up command. This works every time except when the silly buggers have already gone off to do their own thing, like 'Take out Trash' Tongue
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why do so many people's male sims look like women? on: 2006 November 20, 20:29:57
I know this is probably too wierd, even for this place, but I have always been more attracted by personality than appearance Kiss

And it doesn't even have to be a nice personality Shocked

18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Dorm on the base neigborhood possible ? on: 2006 October 01, 21:30:04
Not my scene, but you sound desparate Wink

Dorms can only be created in a University.
Once created and played it can be packaged to the lots bin.
Somewhere there is a way of changing the lot type (change it to residential)
Once classed as residential, you can plop it into your base neighborhood.

But it might not be a good idea to have dormies as well, left-over memories and all

Hope this helps Tongue

21  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Borked Refrigerators on: 2006 September 23, 22:50:08
Are your Sims in the same room with the fridge?
If not, it may be room-accessibility that is the problem.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Animated Window Hack at MTS2 on: 2006 September 22, 22:54:20
You know what would be way cool? If, when something burnt, they autonomously opened the windows. Even more fun...if the smoke would billow out!

Yes, that would be cool, and the addition of more oxygen being added to the conflagration would result in the entire house being destroyed before the emergency crews could do anything.

(In the event of a fire, CLOSE windows and doors (AFTER you get out)) Smiley
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Impressive new Custom Object on: 2006 September 18, 23:20:49
And of course we can't tell anyone what page it's on, people need challenges for their thought processes and sanity Roll Eyes

He does make a good point, though. What about if it came off its stand and rolled off the lot?

Any comments about the fate of the five sims on board?

Definitely the real Pescado Grin
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sharing populated hoods on: 2006 September 12, 11:11:16
I don't think the decorations have changed (for the main 'hood) and as long as the houses are completely undecorated or only use items available in the original game then there shouldn't be any problems with the zip-n-go method above. But you would need to delete ALL sims from the 'hood before zipping. It seems to be the character files that change most with each EP.
