1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Technical problems with THE HORROR: downloading, installing, and running it on: 2009 May 30, 02:10:25
Just a heads up, my virus scanner detected (and luckily blocked) backdoor.graybird in the key gen exe of the razor1911 version. The rest of the download comes up clean

JM - I tried the customer selector and set it to a retail business, but it still didn't work.

Hook - I have tried shutting the business down and restarting a couple of times now to no avail

Well, I have tried everything I can think of and everything you guys have suggested and nothing has worked. I guess I'll just have to accept that it seems to be a borked lot Angry

Thanks to everyone, anyway

OK, new post as the last one would have been way too long.

I just removed the pool and spa, didn't change anything.
I also went and opened a community lot business, which worked fine with no problems.
I then went and opened a business on another home lot (different sim) which also worked fine.

So it seems to be this lot specifically. This is incredibly annoying as it is my first legacy lot.

I think I have exhausted all options. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks for your replies everyone.

Ziggy Doodle - I have tried the sales interation, which works fine, they then just either leave or stand around. Sometimes they do start browsing again, but the buy bar only lasts a second or two and they still dont buy anything.

JM - I have your directors cut, so I do have all of the suggested hacks (I wouldn't run a business any other way). I don't use the customer selector though. I might give that a try

angelyne - The customers never have thought bubbles indicating low needs. I will try taking out each of my hack folders one by one now to see if their is a conflict. As mentioned before, I had already done this with my "miscellaneous" hacks which I presumed would be the source of the problem, but it wasn't.

UPDATE

Well, I have just removed my entire downloads folder and I still have the same problem. Could it be that something esle on the lot is advertising so strongly that it drops the browse action from the cue? I'm off to try removing things to see if this is it. The entire lot is locked off aside from the actual shop and I do have a pool and spa on the lot also.

I do indeed have a cash register, no ticket taker.

This is a straight up retail florist (no green spewing snapdragons either, in fact I didnt even know they existed, I've only ever seen the pink ones)
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Home Business - Customers wont buy anything on: 2007 April 29, 01:31:26
I have just opened a home business (florist) but the customers wont actually buy anything.
They walk in, start to browse, get the buy bar above their heads briefly (lasts a second or two), and then either leave or just stand around.

Before anyone asks, yes the business is open and the items are marked for sale (at the default average price). I have run many businesses before (although most of them were community lot based businesses), but none since seasons.

The hacks I have are too numerous to list but they consist of JM's, Dizzy, Twojeffs, Inge and a handfull of miscellaneous hacks. I removed the miscellaneous hacks as my first test, however the problem remained. Also, I am not getting all of the normal options on JM's BRY controller (the hammer and sickle).

I have tried forcing errors using JM's lot debugger  in and off world and nothing came up, I have closed down the business and reopened, exited without saving and tried again but nothing seems to be working.

I have also tried searching for the problem here, at the MTS2 help section and even at TSR (I was getting seriously desperate there for a moment Embarrassed).

I'm sure that the answer is probably extremely obvious and staring me in the face, so please feel free to poke with sticks (just if you could help me out first  Grin).

I was able to change the clock back to twelve hour time by following the instructions given in previous threads on this, however I still had to change the surnames in SimPE. The game didn't suffer any adverse effects that I could tell, however this was a new hood that had only a few hours of game play.

Perhaps this is what Hitch did also?

Will do.
I take delivery of the new machine on the 25th May so I'll be sure to keep you posted. Smiley

After much indecisiveness, I have finally made a decision. Completely out of left field and defying all previous logic, I am going with the 7900GT.  Whilst I will no doubt find a million reasons as to why I shouldnt have gone with the 7900GT (or perhaps nVidia all together), I decided if I do have problems, I'll deal with it then.

Thanks to everyone for your help and suggestions, particularly Hegalian. Despite the fact that I have actually gone against your advice Hegalian, I appreciate your info anyway.

Ok, my IT guy got back to me with some ATI Radeon options as follows:

256mb X1600XT card  OR
X800 card

Anyone out there with either of these cards? I think I'm leaning towards ATI
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New machine, Video Card question on: 2006 May 08, 23:40:46
Thanks everyone! I have emailed my IT Guy and am waiting on his reply.

Also, just for the record I'm in Australia so it's $500 Australian that he was quoting in reference to the SLI Card.

I'll see what he gets back to me with. It's so confusing trying to decide between ATI and NVIDIA. With my current machine (with the ATI Radeon 9000), I had no choice as to what card I got as it was built for me well before I had any idea whatsoever about decent cards or machine specs. Somehow it was much easier then!

Thanks Ness, I'm going to email my IT guy back with this info and my concerns and see what he says.

I just checked out your thread Ness, as well as some others that were linked in that thread.

Aside from your comments on the 6600 (which were promising), everyone else seems to have had nothing but problems with NVIDIA cards and now I dont know what to do!

I currently have an ATI Radeon 9000 in my current machine (it's pretty old now), and I have never had any issues whatsoever with The Sims 2 or any of the expansions.(Having said that though I had trouble playing Morrowind, random crashes and so forth).

I have never had a NVIDIA card before and asked my IT guy what he reccommended and why and his repsonse was:

"Would definately go with NVidia. Dual cards are called SLI cards, you
can put two of them together and bingo double the bang for your games. ATI
needs a mastercard to do the same thing. Master cards are very expensive. You
could buy two Nvidia cards for the price of one and get a better and faster
setup. You are looking at around $500 for a decent SLI card minimum if you want
to run big games."

I wanted my machine to be as upgradable as possible for the future and therefore the system specs so far are:

CPU:    AMD X2 939 64
MB:      Gigabyte K8N Pro SLI
RAM:    1024MB Kingston DDR PC3200
HD:       200GB Seagate SATA II
VGA:    128MB Gigabyte 6600GT TD PCI E

Ness, what are your other system specs? And what drivers are you using with your 6600? Have you had to change your drivers at all?

Also, anyone else out there with a GeForce Series 7 card? As that was another option I was looking at.

Thanks Ness, I'll check it out!
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / New machine, Video Card question on: 2006 May 08, 08:46:26
I am in the midst of having a new machine built. Our IT guy from work is building it for me and based on the info I have given him, has suggessted the NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT. He has also suggested an alternative, the GeForce 7800.
I checked out the system specs for OFB and it lists the 6600 as compatible, but none of the GeForce 7 series is listed at all.
Does anyone have either of these cards or have any suggestions for me?

Thanks!
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / OFB - Hot Tub and Bed Jump Bug? on: 2006 March 11, 01:09:48
Hi all,

Long time lurker, rare as all poster here! (As is evidenced by my total of 2 posts!)

I am having a problem which I am hoping some folks more awesome than I may be able to help with.

I just had my sims try to woohoo in the hot tub, but both sims then appeared standing next to the hot tub a la "the jump bug". I then tried to woohoo in the bed, same problem. I then replaced the bed with a new one and tried again but had the same problem.

I have never had the jump bug, not even before the first patch was released to fix it. I have all expansions , J.M's directors cut (with all updates for OFB), a selection of TJ's hacks (once again all updated), Inge's Teleporter Shrub and 4 or 5 miscellaneous hacks of unknown origin (cant remember who or where they were from). No Kitten Killer.
I have had OFB running for a few days now with no other apparant problems.

Has anybody else experienced the same problem or have any ideas on how to fix it?

By the way J.M, love your work. The game just wouldnt be the same without your most awesome hacks.  In gratitude I've got a pretty pair of lips in my avatar just for you, ripe for the ripping. Wink

Do you have any custom music in your game? The only time I have ever had random freezing was when I tried putting my own mp3's in. As soon as I took them out all was fine and I haven't had a problem since.
