I also use Twallan's Story Progression/Super Computer and Rule of 6.  I do not have any problems with aging in my game that I have noticed.  Could something else be affecting your game?

Would not still be playing Sims without this group, especially Pes.

Poor Jonus.  You got yourself caught in the middle of two lines of thought at MATY.

Since you have tried the convert to package theory and met with problems, now maybe try the other method.  Even if you are right and Sims3 will continue to have store/launcher problems, you will be able to play your game in the meantime.

As a sidenote, I am a gamer not a programmer also.  Frequently I have no idea what the posts here are talking about, but I follow the directions these brilliant folks post and generally come out ahead.  If I can't find the answer here I check at ModtheSims and compare the two sites.  Between the two I have never had a problem that I couldn't identify and usually solve (assuming my computer was capable of the fix).  Just overlook the "idiot" kinds of comments and go with the real meat of what is being said.

I hope you can get your game running okay, until the next EA screwup!

Since I was loading a new computer, I simply uninstalled my (stupidly) patched game when I discovered this problem.  I reinstalled Sims3, used Launcher to install all store package files, and then installed patches and hacks.  Game works fine for me.  Hope this helps you.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I used the workaround found at MTS and linked in the post above in this thread in order to see the CC after patching.

Donation made.  Please no titles.  Use funds for whatever, including beer.  I'm just happy to have you back up and running!

I am, however, taking possible explanations for when my husband sees BURNINATION on our bank statement.

I also have babies and more on the way.  Still stuttering.  Froze once, early on in play and I was hopping around using Ctrl Click.  I think I caused my own problem.  I did get laggy after a while but all was fine after a restart.

As I have stated before, I am a 'neighborhood' player.  I thought it was interesting that freezes only occur in my game if I have been playing the same house for more than 2 Sim days, and usually just after that point.  If I hop around the neighborhood (I use edit town for my hopping because it reminds me to save my game and I like to look at who is in the house before I jump) I can play for hours with no freeze.  Sims are no longer pausing forever so that is much better.

Crib issue:
Moondance, you have some evil issues, yes?  Grin
Even though I jump around, I don't think I like this control.  Whoever said people buy cribs after they become pregnant has a good point.  The idea to have a time limit after the popup announcement of pregnancy is a little scary to me because I tend to let my game run while I make a sandwich, do laundry etc.  I could eaily miss the message.  Announcements in the newspaper would help with that - incentive to read and no one to blame if I miss an announcement.  Is this an IS feature, 'cause I've never seen announcements in the paper.  Further, if the messages are using lots of game brain, they could all be turned off and we would still know neighborhood events.

Speaking of neighbohood events, with AMS turned on I am not getting messages that so-and-so died.  I did get those messages running the EA game.

Edit: CRS Syndrome

Loving ASM.  I am interferring in about 50% of newly wed couples forcing TFB.  I put cribs in the other's houses and will leave them  to their own devices and see what happens.  I am a neighborhood player, not single family player, so this fits well with my style.  I'm just happy they are finding mates on their own!

Should we take a poll to find out how many of us are here because the Sims2 jump bug led us to Pescado?

On topic, if we don't use the launcher, is there any reason to bother with this patch?

So that's what it's good for?
Edwin Starr fan?

Yep, my playable streaker wandered outdoors in a snowstorm in her birthday suit and after she became a frozen block a satellite fell on her.  Imagine that!
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a fix for the wedding limo? on: 2008 August 09, 14:34:55
I still haven't managed to have a honeymoon since BV.  Either I forget about the lack of automation, or I screw up the booking and it doesn't happen.  Mostly though I just don't have wedding arch weddings.

I agree that it would have made far more sense for the limo to return the next morning!

I'm pretty sure I have seen a hack to put the limo honeymoon back in the game.  Since I don't visit too many places it is likely at MTS2 or 2Jeffs.

I agree it is good to hear from people with direct experiences. And I would certainly shop MATY for xmas gifts.  Keep a look out in that PO box for auntie's Christmas card and check, though!
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Game Play Questions, How do YOU play? on: 2008 August 08, 20:44:21
That neighborhood aging thing? Guess what? It would be entirely feasible to code such a thing in TS2.
I already do neighborhood aging, but without EAxis telling my townies to marry each other and take themselves out of the dating pool.
[/quote]

That leaves me with 2 questions.  1) How do you age your neighborhood, and 2) In Sims3 will a byproduct of aging the neighborhood together cause townies to marry each other...

15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Game Play Questions, How do YOU play? on: 2008 August 08, 14:25:31
This has been such an interesting thread to follow!

I have my main neighborhood which tends to start bloating at about generation 3.  That's when I get simpotence.  At that point I usually begin a new neighborhood with one CAS and then make friends with/move in all the townies, marry them to each other, and then get bored with them.  (Once I created the Isle of Dan and every female townie had one child by my CAS Dan. Dan was very busy keeping up with all his children.)  I go back to my main hood and some form of "newness."  In the past I have used the MATY plague, a band of roving gypsys that moved in on existing lots and bedded the residents, alien takeover, and cowplants next to the sidewalk on every lot (gosh are sims dumb!)

This time my "new" tactic has been death to random sims by dice roll.  Using a list of all my sims, I rolled the dice through the entire list and marked them for death.  When I am done I will have eliminated about 30% of my neighborhood.

I try to ensure that 10% of my neighborhood is gay to keep with national statistics (US).  With ACR I hoped they would choose for themselves, but apparently I still have to guide them.  I do use the random generator for a lot of choices, but I dislike using randomness for some choices, like sexuality, because gayness/hetero just doesn't fit everyone.

Same with college.  If my sim wants to be a rock god, what's college got to do with it?  Just dive in there and make music. Usually my knowledge sims go to college, and those who want to have careers in appropriate fields.  Unlike Maxis, I don't think an artist needs college, but an Education Minister sure should have a degree!  And college has a cost of 5,000 simoleans/semester.  I dash them through college as they earn the necessary skills for an A

I personally love it when a sim with very little charisma wants to be mayor!  Makes it challenging.  I have also incorporated some 'rules' from a previous similar thread.  A sim with less than 8 outgoing points cannot practice charisma without a want.  Same with body (6 points required) and cleaning (5 required). To teach homework to a child the sim must have 4 skills acquired by studying (cooking, cleaning, mechanical).  Making smartmilk requires 8 in any skill.  Or they can have the new parenting skill for homework or smartmilk. (Meadow will finally be able to make smartmilk!)

I also use the lot sync timer to keep my families aging together.

I found with The Sims that my interest flagged tremendously once the advertising for Sims2 got heavy because I couldn't see the point anymore.  I'm starting to feel that way again with the up-tick on Sims3 info.  So far I haven't seen any irresistable reason for buying Apartments so perhaps I will just spend time getting a garage sale together to get enough $$ for a new 'puter to run Sims3!  I can't believe I am still running Sims2 with expansions on my 5-year old emachines (Radeon 9000 video card)!
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: You could meet Pescado in a dark alley with a suitcase full of cash, or... on: 2008 August 08, 13:17:51
Don't you have to have up-front cash to have T-shirts and the like made to sell?  Is there a source for that cash?  Generally the price for printing is lower the larger your quantity, but without knowing how many you could wind up overstocked and run into a loss.

I don't know about the receiving end of PayPal, so if you have had difficulties (and know that it is likely you will again), I would say forget about it!

Personally, give me a PO box and my check (or M.O.) will be in the mail.  I would not play Sims without the kind of hacks I can only find here.  Like many others, I just want my game to make sense and play well.

My Sims are all obsessed with "It"s Snowing."  I have antiweatherreaction loaded.  Any suggestions?
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Features from other EPs carried over into Free-Time on: 2008 March 16, 17:22:07
I haven't tried it, but the guide says Community Lot Weddings was also carried over.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lot Sync Timer: how do YOU use it? on: 2008 March 07, 14:15:59
I use the lot sync timer mostly to keep age spans correct.  I hate it when Sally is dying of old age and her sister Marie has just had her first child with her husband who is Sally's grandson's best friend.  Just hate it!  I generally play 2-3 days on a lot, one or two lots per session.  As for college, I send the kids when they are 18 (6-7 days into teen).  They generally only experience one semester per year at college.  I play the college lot until I have some seniors, return to the main hood and when I reach the (lot sync timer) day they should return from college I move those who have graduated back (4 days after they left).  When I move a new family into the hood they start out on the same day everyone else is on, and I adjust the season accordingly.

Before the lot sync timer I used an elaborate family tree method of playing and kept everyone's ages written on a chart so I would avoid the example above!

According to the guide, bowling is a game hobby object.
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2008 March 01, 14:29:34
I wound up using the No DVD hack for my game (purchased on CDs) and it is working.  I couldn't find a CD version that I had what I would consider a trustworthy recommendation and was worried about errors caused by a bad hack.  Having it plain old not work was preferable.  (No offense Morriganrant, this was before you posted.)

Anyway, thanks for all your help.  I don't post much, mostly just keep up with what's going on and download the DC regularly.  I honestly don't know what I would do without this site.

Thanks.  I appreciate the explanation!

24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Installation Methods on: 2008 February 29, 19:27:47
I posted this in the Securom thread, but this seems to be the active one.

I have a couple of questions.

I never bought Pets so BV was the first EP I had to worry about Securom.  I had read this thread before loading the game so have been running from a no CD hack.  Now I have purchased FreeTime and realize I need to make the game right before I load, but I'm not sure how to do that.  Do I change the Sims2EP6.bak back to Sims2EP6.exe and remove the crack from the TSBin folder?  Then after loading the new EP change the Sims2EP7.exe to .bak, right and load the new hack?

Second question - I went to gameburnworld to get a No CD hack and picked up a No DVD hack.  Will this work if I bought the game on CD?  Somehow this seems like a simple question, but I really don't know the answer.

Thanks for your help.
