Ahem. <snip JM's quote...which Mocbo thought referred to a "bad EAxis hack>
Did I have this hack in my last game install or not. Either way, how can I retrigger/recreate it? I know of the following files/instances of data for Nervous: n002_user 00004( Person) and n002_User00016( Ghost)...both in the Main Sims 2 Folder. Both are also in the My Documents folder, which the game loads from and automatically saves everything. Are there other files/instances?
Where is this "bad EAxis hack" and do the files disappear? Why has the hack survived in my Game? Is this hack a bug or feature?
I think these files/instances of Nervous are connected to the Main Character File of Nervous. That's the key. I've noticed that Nervous (the sim, not the instances of data wandering around) reacts a bit more realistically than other sims. He acts/thinks for himself after a while, without being controlled by the player. He also has different emotions and (memories?). I think his character is specially programmed. It malkes Selfstanding Actions over a long Time, without an Order from the Player.
Wiithout this bad EAxis hack, Nervous would behave the same as other sims, but with it, he's a little different.
EAxis has implemented a Real Story here. The story of the human experimentation is fictional...but the the Beakers are his real parents psychologically. His birth mother is likely a murderess, but couldn't legally keep her (their?) child (Nervous), so he was removed and (taken to an orphanage??) which he ran away from...and ran to the Beakers...bad people who mistreated him.
In the Real World this could have happened; there's a possibility that Will Wright knew someone that this had happened to.
All the other stories in Strangetown and in the whole game are uninstersting because of the aliens an so on (aliens are fictional), but the story of Nervous could really have happened.
Greetings
Moc
To which I can only say.....
1) JM didn't mean a bad hack messed up your game. He meant the real game is messed up. 2) Nervous isn't real!

So we're back to the question: why does that work differently with eyes?
The eyes whose creator line I've changed do show up as a choice in CAS.
Why do skins and eyes work differently with the same line?

The only line that actually matters is the flags line. Change that and make them genetic, you're done. (I don't know why the other lines aren't there, but don't change them if they are.)
Hmm. I'll remember that for the future. (I already changed my CC eyes and they're working fine (ie CAS available...haven't checked the townies yet.) but I have backups in case they fubar later.) I tested this the other night in the game. You can make geneticized skins NPC available and still have them show up in CAS. However, they will not be used by townies. Townies will only use skins which have the Creator set to a bunch of zeros and which therefore won't show up in CAS.
Okay, then that leads to this question. I changed the eyes that had a creator line to a string of zeros. They are CAS available both by hitting the random button and by choosing them in the alteration area. Again, I haven't been able to check the townies/downtownies/NPCs/etc yet. Does anyone know why the skintones would work differently?

Thanks, BastDawn. I did the eyes that I've downloaded, and they work fine. I was just worried about doing the skins too, as I hadn't heard anything other than no-longer-CAS-able.
Here's a strange question...the eyes tutorial I found at MTS2 says you have to change the "version", "product", "creator", and "flags" lines. Why do some of the eyes not have "version" and "product" lines?

I have the light and normal versions. I've never played them (haven't even opened the normal one), so I will NOT vouch for workability. Anyone who wants either should PM me their email address and give me some time to send it. I have about 7 pounds of grading to do this weekend.

Skin transfer hasn't REALLY changed. How it works is somewhat odd, though, with regards to ranged ("geneticized") and unranged skintones.
Strange? How? And, slightly offtopic but close.... Madam Mim, you've said before that making geneticized skins NPC available makes them unselectable for CAS sims? How? In order for my CC skins to be CAS and NPC available, must I have two sets? How do I make them available for NPCs? (I have a lot, so the idea of two sets is, well, bloating.

Sorry-not enough time to read all posts. Is there a tutorial on how to change the degree of resessiveness that you want on skin and eyes. Example, I want aliens on the low end of the spectrum instead of the high and certain eyes to be very resessive. Also, if I could get a quick little note on making skins the default skins (and since hair is genetic too, on how to bin colors with the correct color. DIAL UP SUCKS?
Thank you
Try this thread. It includes a tutorial. You'll have to read to get it though, so I'll wish you luck with that. If you read the first post, you'll see an alternate place to get the files.

As far as I know, most teen pregnancy hacks would do it. I'm a kitten&pupper killer, so I know that InTeen does. If you don't already have it, please read the FM ... because if all you want is preggo teen boys, you may want a less intrusive game mod.

Well, the more downloads you have, the longer wait you're going to have during loading.
May I suggest.....keeping the original files organized by designer and on your desktop / on a CD / somewhere not your Downloads folder. Then you can organize your download folder by the nature of the content...one sub-folder for clothing, one for hair, etc. This way, the files are easy to find and you don't end up with duplicates. It's worked well for me.
