151  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Originally a "Power Outage" in the game? Could modders plz help get it back? on: 2008 July 27, 05:51:10
Sorry, but there is no such thing as a power outage scenario.  You must of heard a stupid rumor.

Are you sure? If you aren't sure, dun come to any conclusion that early... Just a little piece of advice for you, dun act smart when you actually aren't, it's quite disturbing.... LOL Grin
152  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why Sims cannot WooHoo in Custom Cars? on: 2008 July 25, 18:41:29
Does anyone knows why Sims cannot woohoo in custom cars?

I like the Ford cars, but why my Sims cannot woohoo in there. Is there something I can do to make custom cars woohoo-able?

Have you tried having the same couple WooHoo in non-Custom cars? Well, My Sims can just WooHoo in all Fords like other in-game cars...
Maybe your Sims aren't hving good enough relationship or maybe you have hack conflicts Huh
153  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Originally a "Power Outage" in the game? Could modders plz help get it back? on: 2008 July 25, 18:30:21
I've heard there is some "Power Outage" scenario hidden in the original game. There was supposed to be weather in the game (even without Seasons) and every so often a Power Outage may occur. A popup will then appear asking whether you want to try to keep your Sims in good mood even though there's no electricity... If you succeed, you will be rewarded a wind-energy generator.

People said all the hidden contents were already in the original Sims 2. Just wonder if it is possible to make it back into the game? Well, I dun care about the generator stuff, I guess some1 has made it available as a decorative item already... I just think it would be cool if that Power Outage can be made available again.....

Just some suggestions: the power outage may happen randomly (just like the burglar visit, BTW, how come the burglar has never visited any of my Sims so far? Is that the probability for that to occur is really really low? Tongue) and maybe during the thunderstorm in Seasons or when you use the weather changing machine from Seasons....

I'm really bad at modding stuff... All I know is how to clone and recolor objects... Can some real modders plz check if making such a hack is feasible? Wink
154  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Regenerating Catalog Thumbnail. How? on: 2008 July 06, 15:57:43
Yup, CTRL right click regenerates thumbnails, but only in CAS, more's the pity.  If there are lots of thumbnails to be regenerated it is often quicker to delete the file, but if it's only a few, going through and regenerating them all one by one isn't too bad.

Thx for the solution... But I have already spent two hours locating and deleting those thumbnails I wanna regenerate in CASThumbnail.package  Tongue

OK, one bad news here: A New Bug Found with the Cubic Stereo!

When you turn it on, it doesn't have effects that other stereos have: circles coming out from the speakers and music notes coming out from the panel....

Could someone please fix it please?

The effects while music is playing is working now i think, however there's another effect in the other stereos that is visible in the broken state.
I will look at that one tomorrow.

Try this out in the meantime.

Thx for fixing the stereo, Goggalor and I will continue to test the rest of the objects... But I don't quite get the rest of the part, what are the problems with other stereos? Do you mean stereos from other EPs/SPs? So far, I haven't seen any bugs in them....

157  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Regenerating Catalog Thumbnail. How? on: 2008 July 05, 20:36:19
I've got corrupted catalog thumbnails of some of my skins... is there a way I can regenerate the thumbnails other than finding the picture in CASThumbnails.package 1 by 1? Thx
158  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Stuff on: 2008 July 04, 19:16:22
OK... here is my test result... the game will incorporate new items into SCobjects.package/SCskins.package only if you have modified or simply deleted the uContent.xml file....

And now I can play with the fixed objects perfectly! Thx for all who helped!
159  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Stuff on: 2008 July 04, 18:44:41
Try moving fixed files where SCObjects.package is located, and rename them by adding z- prefix. It's the same way I was overriding outdated Stuff Pack objects prior to FT.

Do you have FT? As of FT, overrides for Stuff Pack objects work from FT bins folder.

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 FreeTime\TSData\Res\Catalog\Bins

Not sure if it works for Store craps or not though.

Yea I have FT and the latest patch w/ no-DVD crack.... FYI if you haven't read this b4: a new no-DVD crack for v1.13.0.161 (the latest patch) of FT is available at GCW... It works perfectly for me even though I have Alcohol and other CD burning stuff.... SecuRom can just do me no harm when I have the new crack.....

Back to the chase, I have tried putting them under "Catalog\Bins" under FT but only the curtain does the override, Darcy... I guess the only way I can solve this shit is to remove the SCObjects.package and let the game regenerate it  Undecided

Here is the Store Edition/Latest Patch Hair, the fixed version of the afhairlongwavey is also included. Most Hair is binned to show in everyday/formal only.

Thank you again, Havelock! This is exactly what I want!!!  Tongue
161  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Stuff on: 2008 July 04, 18:26:30
I have tried these packages and I am still having problems with the rugs, the coffee table and the window? Only the curtain is fixed. Am I the only one experiencing this?

Are you sure that old versions aren't lurking somewhere in your Downloads folder? File names were changed in the new version.

I can't delete my old versions since I have Store installed and they will be incorporated into a package file called "SCObjects.package" under Drive:\Users\UserName\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Store Edition\Packed\Objects ....

Maybe I explain a little bit more about how Store Edition works... EA requires you to download the EA Download Manager and then that manager will download The Sims Store Edition which acts just like a stuff pack. You have files just like those on your game disks... And then the manager runs the AutoRun.exe and install a new game called "The Sims 2 Store Edition". If you don't have FreeTime, you can actually play the game by running The Sims 2 Store Edition.... And inside the game, when you go for the credits, you will be able to find "The Sims 2 Store Edition" and you can also find the corresponding collections in Buy mode. I'm not sure if you've got the picture of how it's like or not. Intuitively speaking, The Sims 2 Store Edition is just a Stuff Pack but it is not completely installed unless you pay and download everything from the Store website!

Well, what I did with my store items downloaded here is to put them under Drive:\Users\UserName\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Store Edition\Downloads\Objects or Drive:\Users\UserName\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Store Edition\Downloads\Skins and then these downloads will be incorporated into "SCObjects.package" under Drive:\Users\UserName\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Store Edition\Packed\Objects or "SCSkins.package" under Drive:\Users\UserName\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Store Edition\Packed\Skins and a list of downloaded items will be kept track of under a file called "uContent.xml" when I run the game (I guess it's the incorporation process that makes the new FT patch required). Actually, the download manager just does the same.... So, there is not such a folder known as "EA Store" under Drive:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Catalog\Bins

But for the fixes I just got, I put them under the ordinary downloads folder. Hypothetically speaking, the files under downloads should override those under The Sims 2 Store Edition... So, I am confused whether the fixes are not overriding or I got the wrong files.

NB. Alriite, I'm now conducting another experiment to see if it will work for me, for any other users who have stupidly installed Store Edition like me....
Well, the experiement is like this:
1. the SCObjects.package will be removed
2. all the object files of the latest versions will be put under Drive:\Users\UserName\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Store Edition\Downloads\Objects
3. the game will then be run

If it works out, a new "SCObjects.package" will be generated with the fixed versions incorporated into it.
162  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Stuff on: 2008 July 04, 17:25:06
Allright, I Think I have collected all of the latest files in the object sets.
They are fixed by Havelock, BastDawn, Lord Darcy and myself.

Decoset: http://www.box.net/shared/zfuk94osg8
Cubicset: http://www.box.net/shared/q71zmebk08

And the bookcase and TV updates by Richief ONLY IF YOU HAVE FREE TIME:

If I have forgotten anyone, or any updates, please slap me.

I haven't kept track of the hairs and clothes so hopefully someone else collects them.

I am at work now. But if i am at Home i post a Version who needs the Patch/Shop Edition but has no asterisk.

Thx a lot!!!!  Cheesy
164  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Stuff on: 2008 July 04, 16:13:27
Um... I'm wondering if there are the pre-modification versions of the hair styles since I really don't want them to bear the tacky custom asterisk icon. I bet there are also people who have installed Store Edition and can therefore have the original hair styles show up bearing the "Sims Store" icon in game.

Thx so much for sharing again!!!  Wink

You have to alter the last bit of the Product string in propertyset from 0 to E if you have Freetime or D if you have the latest patch or the store Edition installed. Its impossible to make the Hair for every Game configuration therfore the asterisk. So everyone could use it.

I understand there has to be a modified versions. But if I really need the original versions, who should I ask? Thx for helping...

Is that we can find the files in Drive:\Users\UserName\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Store Edition\Downloads only after you have download the contents by Download Manager and before you run the game?
167  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Stuff on: 2008 July 04, 11:30:56
I want to again thank everyone for fixing & making the files available to all Smiley I do have 1 question. were the El Mariachi in White Vest & El Mariachi with Red Vest fixed?

Siupang you just plop the goodies in My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads.

Thx! And I just figured out something cooool! If you put the objects and skins under Drive:\Users\Username\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Store Edition\Downloads\Objects\ and Drive:\Users\Username\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Store Edition\Downloads\Skins correspondingly, the game will install the items itself as if they were just downloaded using download manager, provided that you already have Store Edition installed!!!
168  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Stuff on: 2008 July 04, 06:49:15
Coooool!!!! It's so cooool!!! I'm outside US/Canada and thus I can't even *pay* for those contents even if I want to!

And I really hate the idea of paying more than the amount of a Stuff Pack for just some downloads....

Good that you have modified those items! EAxis let the community modify their items, right? So, it's absolutely alright to share them here. Smiley

Anyway, I wanna know where should I put the files if I have Store Edition installed by EA Download Manager yet I have downloaded no game contents so far?
169  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Is there a new no-CD/no-DVD crack for FT patch #2?? on: 2008 June 07, 11:54:03
I use the genuine copies of Sims 2 games, but I hate that i need to find my disc everytime I wanna start the game! What's more, I play most of my video games on my notebook, it's pointless to bring around those all those game discs. Does anyone know if there is a new crack for the 2nd patch for FT?

I've heard form SnootySims that there is a new crack already: http://www.snootysims.com/  Tongue
170  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Welcome Package for Castaway Stories. on: 2008 March 13, 12:05:02
Yup, it came with Seasons. In fact those 3 objects came with Seasons.

No, the one from Seasons has a different color and a different name. I'm pretty sure they are the same.
171  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Welcome Package for Castaway Stories. on: 2008 March 08, 10:32:13
Has anyone got the download "The Gourd of Oversized Dreams" from the official Sims Stories site: http://sims.yahoo.com/downloads/castawaystories ?
It looks like this object is not found in any Sims 2 games.

If you've got it, please post it here. Many thx.

Hey, will the video game machine from the LS Career be updated for Freetime so that Sims can play new video games with it?
173  Awesomeware / Playsets & Toys / Re: Salvaged Stories Crap on: 2008 February 04, 09:22:12
Just wondering if those water tools (i.e. clear water, lava & pool scum) can be converted to be used in Sims 2. Coz the lava pool is really awesome!
174  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / New Pinball Machine for Pet Stories? on: 2007 December 21, 07:52:53
I just noticed that there's a new download which is a pinabll machine for Pet Stories at the official Sims Stories website: http://sims.yahoo.com/downloads/petstories. And it seems this pinball machine is slightly different from the one we have in TS2. Just wonder if anyone has got the download and wouldn't mind uploading the .package file as I really wanna know if they are the same or not.
175  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Teen Style Stuff's Computer Needs Update on: 2007 December 03, 11:47:09
Any piece of custom content can be made not to have the CC asterisk, it's just a matter of putting it in the right folder (place in %BASEGAMEINSTALLDIR%\TSData\Res\Catalog\Bins instead of Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads).

Then, how can I update it myself? Or would someone kind enought to update the computer for me? Thx Cheesy
