Speaking of skilling: I'm wondering how things like SC - Fishing works.

I'm not complaining. I tell my Sims to skill fishing, and they fish (or watch TV if there's babies and no one else home), which is Awesome. But what is the protocol for them going where they go to fish? I'm playing the Bayless family, and they're all Anglers, but they seem to fish at different spots...seemingly because they're on SC and go to the closest place after finishing necessities? But their house is right by a body of water with a fish spawner in it, so why do they go where they go instead? Are there better fish? Are they higher priced fish or better fertilizers? Is it simply the closest location or is it more complicated?

Why do they go where they go?
77  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 July 20, 16:39:58
No. The produce in your sim's inventory is being sold because it is of substandard quality. Since Kewian-based produce that is below store quality offers no value, it is automatically disposed of as it is probably some garbage you fished out of the trash can during a rummage. If it isn't, it still doesn't answer the question of why you planted that.

But it wasn't below store quality. I bought it at the store (for the purpose of planting it).
78  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The "Where Can I Find This CC?" Thread - Because you fail at Google on: 2010 July 20, 07:12:31
I'm looking for a mod which I saw a long time ago on MTS2, however I haven't been able to locate it since The Sims 3 came out. The Mod caused the evil witch to have a normal  appearing skin tone and if I remember correctly it also prevented the yellow flakes from appearing on the good witch's skin. If anyone has heard of this mod or knows where to find it I'd appriciate the help. I've searched MTS2 under witch, skin tone, and their mods. Thank you.

Is it this?

Looks like the Good Witch skintone was pulled though.

But then there's this, too.

Is AutoSellVendorTrashRocks what's causing the produce in my Sim's inventory to be immediately sold?
80  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: What's borked on: 2010 July 15, 14:31:35
I'm going to assume this might have to do with either the "UseHigherPrecisionTime" or "BetterBBObjectInfo" Settings. If you don't like them, you can use the Awesome config tool and disable them there.

I can't find that in the config... Going to try the settings.

UseHigherPrecisionTime -- the last option under "Interface & Control Features - General".

BetterBBPObjectInfo--the last option under "Build/Buy/Edit Mode".

WCIF a right-handed tub/shower combo (shower spout on the right side instead of the left).

Or is this even possible because of the animations?

I'm not familiar with this career, so does she have any moodlet indicating that she's lecturing? If you have AM, try Ctrl-Click to get rid of the moodlet and see if that works. If not, maybe resetsim will fix it.
83  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Pudding Factory is for downloads: put your lame requests & WCIFs here on: 2010 July 02, 02:09:37
THAT link worked, and it's lovely. If you could make an arched DOOR as well, I'd be ever grateful. This is something that was always in TS2, and I don't understand why they're not in TS3, but I want them, dangit!

Thank you for the archway, either way. I do appreciate it! Smiley
84  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Pudding Factory is for downloads: put your lame requests & WCIFs here on: 2010 July 01, 14:34:41
WCIF a single tile arched door and archway (think "The Simpsons" house if that helps).

I rarely download CC and it's a weird jumble of words to Google with any efficiency. I don't even know where to begin to look (MTS doesn't have anything like this).

Hi, I've made a singel tile arch for my game. I've been searching but couldn't find any so I make it. Take a look, you can find it here:

Thank you, but the mediafire link says there's 0 items.  Huh

85  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 July 01, 04:05:25
Usually the best way to get an addtrait to take is to chop off all punctuation and spaces from the trait name, as this is how the internal variables are.

I could swear I did that...but I'll try again next time I fire up the game.

Come to think of it, I may have dropped the apostrophe but not the space.  Undecided Thanks.
86  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 July 01, 04:00:51
The parser is a bit twitchy.

Speaking of, I don't think "addtrait Photographer's Eye" is recognized in the console. I tried several ways with no luck, eventually editing traits in CAS to make that 1 of the 5 and addtrait-ing one that IS recognized.
87  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Run, sim, run on: 2010 June 30, 18:02:52
MTS just posted a mod to disable autonomous tag-playing.  This will keep the running bug from happening again.

Unless your Sim gets on a treadmill, which is how one of mine caught the bug. Fortunately, it doesn't bother me.

89  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Neverending Pause on: 2010 June 23, 21:56:57
I've had this happen a couple of times, and it's usually a couple of hours into gameplay. The only thing the same in both situations was that I was doing a lot of actions quickly. X-ing out a queue, paging the house up and down, giving a command, changing speed all within 10 seconds. In my case, my computer probably couldn't handle all of that at once, so I usually pause now in order to give commands more slowly. I noticed that fixall and frequent saving seem to be helping me.

ETA: It just happened again, this time when 2 wants were fulfilled at the same time. I wasn't racing around clicking anything either. Again, it seems like my problem is memory processing or something nerdy I know nothing about.
90  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 4.0.87 (AMB) TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 23, 05:18:42
Blah blah blah edit edit edit.

I'm positive that this is a MAC issue and not a FOJ issue....

And then I go on and on...but I don't because it's incredibly obvious and boring.
91  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Don't keep the OLD, Make the NEW: Un- and In-stalling post-Ambitions Mods on: 2010 June 21, 03:15:32
I didn't write most/all of this. Thanks, MTS and simswiki; I am copying and pasting your initial instructions in the hopes that visiting tards will read THIS and not start new threads. And thanks to anyone else that "walked" me through the new method (GOOGLE is my friend, so I don't know where I found my info).

For the tards:

To UNINSTALL the OLD framework (instructions unabashedly copied):

    *  Delete the Resource.cfg file from any of these game paths you have installed:
          o C:\Program Files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\
          o C:\Program Files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 <EP or SP name>\

    * Delete the d3dx9_31.dll file from any of these game paths you have installed:
          o C:\Program Files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\
          o C:\Program Files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 <EP or SP name>\Game\Bin\

    * Move to Desktop or Delete the \Mods\Packages\ folders from any of these game paths you have installed:
          o C:\Program Files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\
          o C:\Program Files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 <EP or SP name>\

If you have a shit-ton of CC, move it to your desktop and continue.

To "INSTALL" the new method, do this (instructions made from my own memory through someone else's instructions):

Go to Start>Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 3

Right-click and make a new folder called "Mods". Within that folder, right-click and create a new "Packages" folder.

Download Resource.cfg. Here.

Put this Resource.cfg in the Mods folder (NOT the Packages folder).

Put your CC crap in the Mods>Packages folder.

The OLD Resource.cfg will not work in the new location, because it's checking for shit it shouldn't, so download the new one (link provided). You should be able to make sub-folders within your Packages folder, up to 3 or 4 (?) steps.

No, you do NOT have to keep any of the old Framework to make everything work post-Ambitions. If your CC and mods don't work, they aren't compatible or they aren't updated...or you just fucked up.

If that doesn't make sense, God help you, and go away.

If this has been adequately covered in tard terms at MATY, I haven't seen it, so God help me.

ETA: FWIW, I realize this could have gone in another section, but the people that most likely NEED these instructions will head here first.

Pictures (Thank you, Simius).
92  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 4.0.87 (AMB) TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 20, 16:04:29
Non-updating LTH counter is an EA bug, it's been there since the game was released.

A-ha. I've never noticed it happening before now. Thanks (this is grate!).

I noticed something else weird as well. I saved and quit the game at 12:30am after sending the Sim to bed. When I restarted, it was 8:30pm and she was on the drafting table (she was on the drafting table at 8:30pm originally). I could swear that my last save before 12:30am was well before 6:00pm (she was on the job--I remember that!). Auto-save is set to 0, so it shouldn't be that.

This is most likely an operator error as I don't see how it's possible, but now it's logged, just in case.
93  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 4.0.87 (AMB) TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 20, 14:22:41
All games, fully patched, AM only.

The lifetime points counter freezes at a random (?) moment on the UI. They are still being accumulated. Clicking on the "Lifetime Rewards" tab to bring up the reward options will show the actual amount of reward points accumulated (example: UI says 4619, options tab says 5023). Buying a reward fixes the UI counter.

I'm not yet positive what initially caused it, but I suspect it happens when a wish is rolled and fulfilled before it is locked.

I haven't played without the mod installed yet, so this may be an Eaxian bug.
94  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: XMLs are lying to me about bills, I cannot figure out how the heck the game on: 2010 April 20, 07:51:09
Hmmm....let me ask some more, as I don't fuck with codes/mods and only play the game with mods that I know will work and make it playable (ie. Awesomemod).

MY understanding (as I don't look at actual CODE) is that Sim bills are only determined by OUTGOING money (the cost of the house plus the shit I buy for it).

My scenario:

Sim A buys a $2300 plot of land. I fill it with stuffeth till the bill is $20,000 (and my Sim is out of money). My bills reflect the $2300 plus the cost of stuffeth ($20,000 SPENT).
Sim B buys a $2300 plot of land. I motherlode and kaching the hell out of that Sim, making him a millionaire, and buy nothing ($2300 SPENT). My bills only reflect the $2300 I "spent".

Is this totally wrong or completely right?

Sorry, not trying to hijack your thread; I'm just trying to understand the system so that I can understand what the HELL is going on behind the scenes that you want to tweak (because I WANT you to tweak it).
95  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: XMLs are lying to me about bills, I cannot figure out how the heck the game on: 2010 April 19, 16:06:16
Absolutely nothing I said in any way ever once even came close to barely implying that bills would be changing based on wages.

You'd have to pay attention to the household value as well as your sims earnings

I actually thought that's what you were trying to do as well, based on the above sentence. Out of curiosity (and the fact that I'd like my game to be harder and I am interested in this mod), could you clarify?

Spore?  Is anyone still even playing that?  I don't think I've started it up in a month...

Agreed.  I started it up again today, and I know for a fact I haven't played it since September, since I remember playing it right after Hurricane Ike.  I posted this mostly so people could see that EAxis made a half-assed attempt at listening to their customers.  I'm not personally happy with them thinking that this makes any difference to anyone...just thought people would like to know.
98  Serious Business / Spore Discussions / Spore De-Authorization Tool on: 2008 December 20, 20:11:45
I know most of you don't have to worry about de-authorizing your computers when/if you uninstall Spore. However, because of the public outcry, EAxis has released a de-authorization tool that basically resets your install limits.

Thread and link here.

While it's not getting rid of SecuRom...it's...something.  Undecided
99  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Which is the safest way to package this occupied lot? on: 2008 October 20, 18:41:27
Well, I'd go for electric boogaloo as the safest way.

However, if you want the kids to keep the memories, make them ghosts.  I'm not sure if the tombstones have to remain or not...I assume they would.  You could always tell people that upload the lot that you'd prefer they delete the tombstones after they install.

Also, quadruple check that none of the sims in the occupied lot knows ANYONE besides the other sims living there.

It's true, you can't just move the parents out and let the others keep memories, because the parents wouldn't exist in everyone else's game, causing corrupt memories.

I've never heard of having a walk-by the way you're describing.  It doesn't sound possible.  Undecided

The last thing I'd recommend is to package the entire family, including the living parents, and tell people to move them out after installing.

I don't know what generation I am... At 23 years old (in non-pescadian years, that is), what would I be? X? Y? Something in between?

There are several, very different dates for classification of Gen X, and none of them reach past 1981, so I guess you're a Gen Y.
