TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hurricane Katrina

It's kind of pointless to have a historical society when nothing in the area can be more than 2 years old because it gets destroyed every other year. Well, yeah, every city in America is like that (I live in Houston, so every building's life capacity is measured in minutes), except New Orleans (well, a great deal of it anyway). Regg, I think Nolas is the best city on the planet! I know you guys will recover, and when you do, I'm gonna fly my happy ass over, get a room at Monteleone, and sit at the Chart Room to people watch! You're in my thoughts, Creoles... Woohoo, post #100 for me!

You guys don't know how to build homes, obviously. If you're in a hurricane area, what you SHOULD be building is a reinforced airtight biodome. One thick enough that it can withstand hurled cars, stray bullets, cannonballs, etc. with no damage. Honestly, why is it that people don't learn to build appropriately in accordance with the hazards of their environment?
I'm sure the historical society in New Orleans would have no problem with that, JM! We in Houston are thrilled about the hurricane...our hotels are all booked up with Creoles! Seriously, though, I hope everything goes well for Louisiana...I love Nolas (especially the window at Molly's and the gumbo at Coop's!)

Thank you all again, for your kind words, e-mails, and offers...I feel like I've been politely spammed! Kidding. I am very grateful to all of you...even JM in some sick, twisted way. No news yet...I'll keep you posted when I find something out. Hang tight, or ten, or whatever!

Yeah, well, you know, due to my atheistic views, I don't really do prayer. They say there are no atheists in foxholes. This is not really true. I prefer more effective means of directed problem-solving than "hope somebody else fixes it for you". I mean, where would we all be if I had taken THAT attitude, hmm?
I suppose I see a nugget of truth in that...this game would certainly suck without you... So...any interest in delving into hacks for the real world? BTW, my mom got into MD Anderson, probably the best cancer treatment center in the world. Thank God she's a nurse and knows some people. And I almost laughed today when I heard the word "lumpectomy" . Couldn't they think of something a little classier to call it? Thanks again guys!

Ha ha ha ha ha! Thanks, everyone, for your thoughts. And thanks JM...coming from you, those are the kindest words I've ever heard! I appreciate the laugh, and I'll go warm up the iron. Thanks, guys, for everything!

Hey guys, Just needed to sort of announce that my mom just got diagnosed with breast cancer. I know it's off topic completely: I'm not asking for replies or anything, so if you want to close the post, JM, that's fine. I would just like to request that anyone who prays to anything please do so now! I'd really appreciate it.
Love, SJ

My Sims never die...I'm too damn nice to them, I think. I do remember though, in Sims1, I made a great family with two little boys. I just picked a BUNCH of toys for them and put them in the playroom. One of the toys was the rocket. I had no idea what power that thing possessed. Long story short, it became a great family with ONE little boy! Whoops.

The best way to avoid that is if you don't put a shower or tub in the bathroom, in europe or at least we did't have it in Germany, toilets and and showers or tub are not in the same room. Oh, man. I just returned from my first trip out of the US (well, except Canada, but that doesn't count. Before you Canucks complain, Canada is BETTER than the US, imho). I went to Paris. It's probably the most beautiful city I will ever see, but the whole separate shower/toilet thing REALLY threw me off. We stayed at a university apartment, and if you asked me how many bathrooms, I'd have to say 1/2 and 1/2, as one had a toilet and sink, the other a shower and sink...how confusing! Loved it, though! 'Specially the public transportation. Go METRO!

I work in a music store, and we have a bin for a free newspaper. They CONSTANTLY put those dumb discs in there. I work in the back (I'm a buyer) in a VERY small office with two very disgusting, vulgar men. I've started taping the discs together to make a partition wall so that I can have my own cubicle. Only problem is that damn hole in the middle! Sad situation when one actually SEEKS OUT getting a cubicle! Oh, well. They're fun to work with sometimes. And being the dainty lady I am, I can still out-belch them both!

'Sod off?' Do people in the US use that expression? I thought it was exclusively British!
Well, not really. Sometimes we like to use British phrases cuz they're so much more effective, and sound so funny (and I mean that in the best and politest possible way ). I mean, what can Americans say to mean "sod off" that's nearly as effective? "Bug off"? That's just a shortening of "bugger off" I suppose, so we'd be cheating. "Go away"? That's just boring! You Brits use this language so much better than us (except for the whole s for z thing, and overusing u after o--don't like that!).

Thanks, JM! This is is third version of the phonehack that I'm installing! I had problems with the first one (MY fault; a Sim was on the phone or something when I saved) but I'm giving it another go--I'm so excited to see how it works.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Can I Move the House?

Hey guys, Maybe I should put this in the Daily Idiot and nominate myself, but I have a question: I started building a house in Pleasantville's Uni. It's not finished, and nobody has ever lived there. Can I move the lot to Pleasantville? I know someone around here got worried because he moved a house into the bin, but his had people in it, and mine doesn't.
Thanks, SJ

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Senator Hook!

Sigh...sorry. What I meant was: Can you do this? Senate proceedings shall be conducted as follows: 1. A Senator must propose a motion. 2. Another Senator must second the motion. 3. The motion will then be put to a simple Yea or Nay vote by the Senate until a majority is reached, or time elapses. 4. If the motion passes, it may then be Vetoed by El Presidente.

Aw, shit...so sorry! Take the lips...
It's just that I looked at who was online, and noticed his name was in blue...he's never been online when I've looked there till now, so how was I to know?!
So, Mr. Senator--is my congratulations approved?
