401  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Am I a bad person? on: 2005 August 01, 00:01:23
Anyway, I gave in and sent Adrian to college despite my reservations.  And, I used a cheat.  I've been using the college clock to speed up things.  He skills in the rare occasions he needs to, does his term paper, does his assignments, goes to any classes that pop up along the way until the bar is maxed up, energises, and goes straight to his final  In an hour he'd finished 2 years worth of Uni, and gotten engaged to Brandi LeTourneau.  Is that bad?  Should I be slapped down and have lips ripped off?

Are you asking if you should be slapped for fast-forwarding college, or getting your Sim engaged to Brandi LeTourneau?  If college - no.  College is tedious and boring.  If Brandi - yes.  A thousand times, yes.  A more snarky, moody, and simply all-around unpleasant Sim I have yet to see.

Really?? I've found her to be pretty good, for a knowledge sim.  Brought a fair few family friends along with her (the tally's now fifteen), and it also helped that she already was a friend of the family so she's been getting along with everyone wonderfully.  And she scrubs up pretty well after a makeover.  They've just gotten married and had a son, Ben.

I'm hoping that the nose though skips a generation and (dear god) that he's inherited grandpa Kennedy's schnoz, because, well, Adrian inherited Simone's tiny nose and it just made him look like he'd been hit in the face with a frying pan.  Also waiting to see if when Ben becomes a toddler he develops Vulcanitis and pointy ears like Adrian did.  If so I might cry.

The Insiminator has a caller ID feature. I'm however, not all too sure, since I don't use the Insimthing. Big things that do too much frighten me Cheesy
That is definitely not on our list of supported products. I don't even know what relevance the two have. Why does the Insimenator have anything to do with phones, anyway?

The dmaTeleport (comes with live in NPCs) has this function.  It is my saviour!  I can ignore Marsha Bruenig the pain and Prof. Audrey the slut when they start stalking!
403  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Plans for Nightlife on: 2005 July 29, 02:57:35
I'll say that I'm going to wait for a while before buying nightlife, because I have RL University to worry about, never mind my work, my social life, my health...

But then I'll probably break down the day it's released, buy it, and just play with my established families. Embarrassed
404  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: You gotta juggle, before you can eat... on: 2005 July 29, 02:23:28
No, I've not tried juggling, because usually the espresso machine is in the kitchen, and just getting them into the kitchen or even the right floor is enough to bring up the right options.
405  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Am I a bad person? on: 2005 July 29, 02:19:27
I just recently started a legacy family (haven't yet got up the guts or awesomeness to start an Email challenge).

The founder, Simone Le Gassey (Simone The Flatulent, as I've nicknamed her) started out as an attractive adult with ROUND ears.  Her son, Adrian the doofus, spun up the knowledge aspiration so he was desperate to go to uni (LTW is to become, yawn, a Mad Scientist).  He picked up in the intelligence stakes as a teen with four out of 7 skills maxed out (You should have seen him as a child.  I'm surprised he didn't come home with a sign on his back which said 'kick me' - he was just that stupid).

Just to go off on a tangent, he developed Vulcanitis as a toddler, and didn't lose the pointed ears until he went to Uni (although interestingly, his now rounded ears stick out more than any sim I've ever seen).  Simone became an elder and developed a simultaneous case of Vulcanitis and Klingonitis.  I've never seen such an unattractive elder, and boy is that saying something.  I'm gonna have to put up some snapshots, methinks.

I'm confused. Are you saying that there is a purchasable official Maxian patch to fix this problem? This is news to me. I guess I should pay more attention to my game to see if I have the same problem...

This all has to do with the interview one of the Maxis people gave in the Netherlands. He claimed that EA/Maxis would not bother to make a Uni patch since that was just "to hard". He further claimed that all game-problems would be fixed in the next ep anyways. It caused quite an uproar, since it would basically force people to buy the ep if they want their Uni ep fixed.

It was quite an idiotic comment; if you can fix the bugs in the newest ep, why can't you put those fixes into a stand-alone patch? Easy answer: the stand-alone patch would be a free item, the ep you would have to purchase.

I knew I'd seen that somewhere.  Seems they did some backpedalling from their original statement.

We will now look into what issues we can address (are they reproducible and fixable) from the issues that have been reported. I do not have a release date for a patch at this point, nor do I have a fix list, but we will let you know as soon as we have more definitive info.
407  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: You gotta juggle, before you can eat... on: 2005 July 28, 23:44:03

I've noticed that I have a similar problem if my sims are:

a) not on the lot (ie work/school)
b) asleep on the same floor
c) on a different floor, awake or otherwise (In this case, I have to tell them to physically move to the appropriate floor, then tell them to serve/have meal)
d) occasionally in a different room, on the same floor (telling them to move into the kitchen though seems to bring up the right options though) Huh

The only serve/have option becomes Instant Meal.  Pain in the butt when one wants to queue up actions for them.  I haven't had to have them juggle though.
408  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Game Assigns Aspiration on: 2005 July 20, 23:31:18
We already have something like that, don't we? It's called, "dice."

Aw man, you mean I have to invest in a small cube shaped object rather than just leech off of a modder?

Besides, I'd kinda like to see the game spin up a random aspiration, no ifs, no buts, no rerolling if you don't like the result.  Although if such a thing did exist, it'd probably suffer from the firstborn effect and we'd have entire neighbourhoods filled with romance sims.  Yikes.
409  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxing out sims skills on: 2005 July 20, 06:24:49
I've just started my own bastardised Legacy family (bastardised as in I'm not removing my coffeecuphack for nobody), and I've set my sims to doing a lot of skilling, teaching where career rewards exist, and practically living with that Thinking Cap on their heads (an absolute 1000% improvement to the appearance on the first child born, Adrian 'I'm a pointy-eared doofus who took 2 sim days to learn to walk' Le Gassey).  He's now maxed out the cleaning and logic skills at an abnormally fast rate, given that he started learning on his first day as a teen and by the second had maxed out both.

Next up, Creativity!
410  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hey, can you see my lips moving? on: 2005 July 20, 01:49:05
I have this exact same problem, and its the one pet peeve that cannot be fixed! Ack...why oh why did they break the phone animations?   I cannot stand to have my sims talk on the phone at all now...it's too painful to watch...yet another Uni glitch that needs fixed...

Oh, so it is a Uni thing?  I didn't have Sims2 long before I bought Uni so I thought I must have just dreamed it!

 Angry

*sigh*
411  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The case of the disappearing simoleons on: 2005 July 19, 00:49:10

Dammit.  Happened again.  With a uni household that could least afford it.

Beau Broke and Lucy Burb had 216simoleons, then (with no purchases, no maid, no nothing) suddenly it was down to 146.  The bills arrived shortly after and thankfully they were able to (just) afford to pay.

Gah.
412  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what is an overpopulated neighborhood anyway? on: 2005 July 18, 05:48:24
DUMB QUESTION ALERT

How exactly does one see how many sims they have in a neighbourhood?
413  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Other Games? on: 2005 July 18, 05:12:04
I stick mainly to The Sims at the moment (especially when the little girl next door comes over and wants to play the 'peeple game' on the 'pooter' - although we have been known to attempt computerised board games like monopoly, the game of life).

Otherwise, Emperor: The Rise of the Middle Kingdom is one of my fave city building games.  I have tried Sim City 4 but there's plenty I seem incapable of doing on it  (I am incompetent!  Rip My Lips Off Now!), and otherwise it seems like a lot of waiting around.

Oh well, another week and Uni will start again and I will have to kiss goodbye to my game playing, not to mention the rest of my life in general Sad
414  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Myths, Urban Legends, And Apocrypha Of TS2 Explored And Exploded on: 2005 July 18, 04:43:50
All's I can say about Brandi Broke is that the woman will NEVER have girls!  I can't get her married, so she's adopted FOUR different sons: two babies, a toddler, and a child.  I am trying like hell for her to adopt a girl--then neglect all the boys. Wink

Not true.  My Brandi Broke married a fellow by the name of Matt Riffraff (who had 2 daughters himself, Kayla and Layla), and they had a daughter, Bridget, followed by twins Bart and Beatrice.  Beatrice is nearly a clone of Brandi, but with green eyes.

(Layla became a romance sim when she aged into a teen and I'd had hopes she would break her stepbrothers Dustin or Beau's heart, but while they lived in the same house they only ever had family interactions.  She now has wants to flirt etc with Dustin now they're living in separate houses in university though Grin)
415  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / The case of the disappearing simoleons on: 2005 July 18, 01:52:41
 Huh

I had Tosha Go drop out of university (despite her excellent grades) because she was in a massive hurry to marry Amin Sims.  She had next to no money, so moved on to a tiny little lot, on a hill, got him to come over, married him, so they had about 18,000simoleons and could move into one of those cool little condo things in Pleasantview. (note, I use the word cool with great sarcasm as none of the bedrooms in those things it seems has enough room for a double bed so had to remodel the top floor).

Tosha and Amin Go then had baby Amy (Amy Go, geddit, geddit? :groan: ), saved up a bit of money courtesy of Amin's very well paying job, and moved out into the old Dreamer house.  After partially furnishing the house, with about 200simoleons leftover, the family settled into their routine.  After one day at work, Amin earned about 1500simoleons so that brought the tally up to about 1700.  After purchasing a few essentials like a smoke detector, high chair, couple other baby things and burglar alarm, they had 944 simoleons left over.  Amin went out to work the following day while Tosha was dealing with baby Amy.  I looked at the money level, which had suddenly dropped to 644simoleons.  A little later it dropped again to 444simoleons.

No bills had come in yet, and no chance cards had come up.  This is the only family it's happened to, and the only thing that's unique about them is Tosha dropping out of uni, and both parents originally being townies (usually at least one of my starting sims comes from CAS).

Any ideas?  Is the ghost of Darleen Dreamer stealing my money?
