TS2: Burnination / The Podium / House Layout?
|

Sorry to ruin your new building concept (basements and front terraces), but sims hate to use stairs. They will use them when they have no choice. Another thing they hate is - walking on the bare ground; if there is a tiled pathway to the front of the house, and bare ground in the front of the house - they will go first on the tiled pathway.
I build all my houses on 5x5 lots, with at least 6-7 doors to the yard. But I put floor tiles all over the unused yard (bushes, trees, and flowers). No basements, and no porches - straight on the ground, leaving 7 tiles at least between the road and the front wall of the house.
My sims never go to greet a visitor around the yard, always through the front doors, pointing to the road. Even if they are at the back of the house, they choose to pass inside the house to the front door.
Besides, I put tons of objects in front of the house and around - my sims move freely beside them.
Gali, I'm sorry, but that is totally ludicrous. I'm assuming you're also not a fan of nighttime, gali. Afraid of the dark much??

I just restarted Pleasantview again, but my last elder prior to that who hit her LTW of becoming Captain Hero, flatly refused to spin a new LTW. Debugger, college clock did nothing. Her husband who had the day before hit his LTW of becoming a Criminal Mastermind, spun a new LTW of becoming a Mad Scientist.

Btw. I just browsed through this thread but then I got bored. My brain's a bit fried from teaching lab all day and pig dissecting all night. Maybe I might actually vegematate and play the game finally. Anyways, I vaguely recall Pescado mentioning something about working on a work businessish type controller so employees will hopefully be less stipud Ste Employees aren't the problem, you can assign them to something and they'll stick to it until you tell them to stop - it's the controllables who just amble off to play games!

Wow. I use 'basic sell' pretty much all the time. No complaints yet. 'Can I help you' if the sim is looking lost, and then basic sell if they're taking their sweet time making up their mind whether or not to buy the thing. One employee Cale to man the cash register (although as business has been picking up, I've just added a second register to use when things are busier) and Cass and Cale restock after closing.
Cassandra and Darren Goth's home florist/robotics shop has been steadily climbing a rank a day

Any chance of a macro/WORK hack? I'm getting tired of chasing my sims around the lot as they try to play SSX3, watch TV, lounge on couches, clean up meals (that's what the MAID's for!) while they're supposed to be working at their home business, or even sometimes at a proper community lot!

I don't know, to be honest.
Cassandra and Darren Goth have a home business, a combined florist/robot shop (which so far looks downright ugly as I haven't mastered the new building options yet). They're charging average prices for things (15-17% above wholesale), selling quite well, and the kids Victor and Prudence are running a lemonade stand. Cassandra and Darren have both earned bronze talent badges for their various endeavours (flower arranging and sales for Cass, robotics for Darren)
Over 2 days of business, I've made a 6,000 simoleon loss on the business, while they're within a whisker of getting to level 2.

My boyfriend finally saw the Sims 2. All he wanted was to see what the woo-hoo looked like. Given that it wasn't completely porno like he hoped I think he loves me just a little bit less now (edited to make a bit more sense)

How about a hack for when the business is 'open', working sims stop themselves from playing SSX3 or doing 'fun' interactions with their customers?
Coz if the staff at the local supermarket came up to me and wanted to dance, I don't think I'd be buying anything from them!

Nope, never - I tend not to move things that Maxis decrees shouldn't be moved unless they get bugged. She's never had a problem getting to the mailbox before OFB and nothing else has moved. I first thought it might have something to do with the increased traffic at the Goth house (the first house I tried) as Cassandra started a home florist shop, but the second house is completely unchanged. Oh and I took payatbox out when I got NL. (I wonder if forcing an error on the mailbox would help?) EDIT: Oh, and I just remembered the other problem I faced last night - although this one was fixable. Sims wouldn't be in the car when it would pull back into a driveway extension. The car would just materialise like it does, but the sim would be sitting in the driving position back at the portal, then they'd just get up and walk off to wherever they were going. Downside to this was that the car continued to make revving noises while parked (no-one there to take the key out of the ignition??!), which was my first clue something was wrong as I wasn't looking at the portal, and it wasn't possible to buy a car alarm. Deleting and re-buying the extension seemed to 'fix' the problem.

Haven't tried the game sans hacks yet, but in my playing session last night I noticed that the mailperson seems to have developed a jump bug. She arrives everyday on the two lots I tried, regardless if it's a mail day or not, reaches into her bag to get something out, and then 'jumps' to the other side of the mailbox, walks around to the front of the box, reaches into her bag, and jumps again in a continuous cycle, until I moveobjects on and delete her. Used the lot debugger to kill any stuck bills but she'll be back again the very next day.
I took out the hacks deemed dirty by JM and twojeffs but the next time I play I'll try without any hacks at all *sob*

The idiot robot from ts1 is playabole now. You buy him and when you turn him on he becomes a reverse vampire with a robot skin. Basicly recharge him in the sun outside and let him power down at night.
And they added all kinds of perverse sex games with him. "Tune up" is one of the flirt actions.
And the expansion of furries in this EP is obscene.
Whats next? Will the family pack include tentacle rape monsters?
FINGERS IN EARS! How is tune up perverse? I mean, I think it makes sense, for a robot. Maybe the robot should get social points from repairing things. It could develop a relationship with the trash compactor. sanmonroe... you're a little obsessed with sex. Just a little. and Ella... having relationships with inanimate objects is bad for the game. I'm sure it'd be good story-wise, but there's a reason my sims don't get remote controllable cars!

and she's a family sim and her wants are more like pleasure/popularity! It's really all very odd!
I've got a few family sims like that at the moment! They've lost the 'have a baby', 'have 10 kids' wants (they're still in childbearing years!) and constantly want to make friends with the neighbours!
