There's a test for this currently going on over at Twoftmama's Asylum by bluegenjutsu:

You need to be a member in order to see the thread, though.

Hello again. I've been getting those wonderful little CTDs again. And while they've been a bit less prevalent, I get a crash caused by a "Corrupt Save Game" that doesn't make sense since I've been able to reload the exact same save that crashed and continue playing for hours without incident. I've heard somewhere using "Save As..." rather than regular saving method helps,  but I can't confirm. I have the error report right here if needed.

http://www.mediafire.com/?2b0sro4ixarh6tb

I'd love if this could be fixed, since I've gone quite a ways with this save and would hate to have to start over.

Provided that you can load up the old corrupted save, you don't have to start over. For example: All you have to do is click "Save As..." and then you change your file name from ABC to ABC1. If you get another crash and it comes up as a corrupt save, load up your old save and name it to ABC2—and so on and so forth. It works for me.

28  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Crashing problems on: 2012 April 27, 02:09:02
I'm going to take a page out of Madame Mim's book and resurrect my own thread.

Okay, long story short—1.33/Showtime is crap. I have never ever had corrupt saves before! I have often attributed this good fortune to the fact that I absolutely love to defragment my computer three times a day. But enter 1.33/Showtime—and presto! Corrupt saves! This ticks me off.
So I am going the "Save As" route. Fine.
The next thing I discovered is that I had to fiddle around with the Data Execution Settings. No more crashing, except for the every-other-day corrupt saves and the occasional weird crash that even the Analyzer cannot figure out.
For example, I sometimes get this odd crash around certain types of EA countertops, and I'm just wondering if this has something to do with the added "Place Snack Bowl" interaction, which someone told me that EA only enabled on certain island counters over others. I cannot confirm that yet. ‘Tis a fickle thing that does not like to be reproduced.

Until my next mysterious crash, I bid thee farewell.
29  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Crashing problems on: 2012 April 10, 04:30:18
I did everything you said: it worked perfectly! I admit that I did just run into my first crash—but as it took place after an hour and a half of gameplay, I'm not complaining.
The mighty Crash Log Analyzer told me that updates were available for WA, AMB, LN, and HELS, so I did allow the game to patch after that. It remains to be seen whether this will create more devastating repercussions, but I feel lot a more confident about the process of uninstalling now.
Since I have now been able to explore Showtime a little bit, I have come to the conclusion that the best of part of this extremely glitchy game is the fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Elvis be praised!
Thanks again, witch.

Thank you so much for replying, witch!
Okay. I just started to download the super patch, but I would like to clarify.
I uninstall everything, then I reinstall (in proper release date order) all of my EPs and SPs. But throughout all this I DO NOT touch the Patch Downloader from MTS? Instead, I finish my reinstalling, and then I use the Super Patch for 1.33. Is this correct?

Does anyone have any hints or suggestions? I am seriously unable to run my game for more than four minutes (and that's if I'm lucky) with AwesomeMod installed. Please, please, please! I know Jezzer likes to make the joke about the unlikelihood of people waiting with baited breath for replies, but damn it—I am! All of my old saves and projects utilize AwesomeMod in some way or another. I am not willing to run the game without it.
The only thing I can think of  is that I never updated to 1.31, or 1.32—I used the Patch Downloader from MTS and went straight to 1.33. But I don't see how this can cause the problem, because the version of AwesomeMod I have was working fine with 1.33. Well, I did have a lot of crashing, but not to this extremity. This four minute lifeline only started after I installed Showtime.
So somebody please tell me: Was updating to 1.33 before buying and installing Showtime a bad decision? Would it cause this ceaseless crashing? If so, what do I do? I still have my 1.29 backup. Do I go back to that and install Showtime right off, then use the Patch Downloader, or do I go back to 1.29 and do something else? Please tell me.
32  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Bug Report Thread on: 2012 April 08, 00:49:18
I am posting this very reluctantly. I installed Showtime on the 5th of April, and I have been extensively experimenting in hope of fixing this on my own, but I have failed. I am thinking it must be AwesomeMod's doing. Other than furniture and deco stuff installed through the Launcher, I've tried playing vanilla (cleared caches and all) with just AwesomeMod and NRaas Error Trap,  I've also tried playing new games and new saves both with and without AwesomeMod...but within the first two minutes or so of loading the game—it crashes, but only when AwesomeMod is in. Speeding up time can hasten the crash, but so can doing completely different things each time. I don't have the slightest idea of what's causing it! As of yesterday, I had the latest version. I just now finished up another test by adding back all of my CC and mods, sans AwesomeMod—no crashes.
I created a log of all of my crashes. They are all access violations with differing end numbers. If you would like to see them all, please tell me.

EDIT: This is now the most recent crash log I have. It was taken with just AwesomeMod, Awesome Config, Error Trap, and NoIntro in place.

May be the fact that there was no wedding party the reason behind it? I just made an "instant-wedding" somewhere in the middle of the street, so there were no guests = no presents?  Huh

I had a loner sim who discovered a long lost wedding gift in his mailbox after his divorce. The gift giver was a friend of his ex wife's. So, I don't think you have to throw a wedding bash to receive presents—your sims just have to get married and have at least one friend.
34  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: TSM for TS3 on: 2012 March 28, 08:51:55
How can i use or convert complete Sims from TSM in Sims3?
I have an favorite TSM Sim and want to use it in TS3.
I've put the name.sim file in the Saved sims folder from TS3 and he isn't in.

My advice is to quit while you are ahead. TSM's CAS is quite different from the CAS in TS3.
When I was feeling adventurous, I copied my favorite Saved Sims from TSM and placed them into TS3's Saved Sims folder. Needless to say, the results were disastrous. Imagine foggy gray skin, warped and wacky features—the only things that made it through properly were hair colour (with the exception of highlights), and the colour of the eyes. That's it. I'd show you the pictures, but I no longer have a photo account.
Your best bet would be to enter TSM's CAS, choose your favorite sim from the bin, and then take screenshots of all the angles of their face. When you return to TS3,  go to the options panel and pop it into Window Mode, then find your pictures and use them as a guide. Your results will probably not be perfect, but they should be darn close if you are diligent enough.

Oops should have been more specific, the Firefighter Coat DECORATION. The one you get as a career reward.
Have you tried, maybe, searching at MTS?

Or you can simply use buydebug.
36  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Lights! Camera! Inaction! SHOWTIME! on: 2012 March 11, 02:05:09
I haven't had any/more lag in Starlight Whatever, but I have had several cases of the audio cutting out for a while (lets say five minutes) and then coming back on allofasuddenandrushedlike. It's very strange.

I'm still Showtime free, but I had a similar occurrence in Bridgeport. Have you tried resetting the entire town?

Is anyone aware if any fixes have been issued for the (TS3 $tore item) Infinite Flow Hot Tub? I've been building an Asian themed house lately, and when I went to test I realized that the spout doesn't work at all. I searched, but I only found one other mention of it (on TS3.com).  The person who reported it also said that the hot tub from the casino set has a broken spout as well. (Which it does.)
I was curious enough to check the rest of the $tore tubs. Everything else seems to work, except possibly for the tiki-themed hot tub. I say possibly because the water works, but the torches that the tiki idol holds don't give off any light—and I'm not too sure if they were ever supposed to—being unable to find a working picture.
Thanks for reading.

It looks to me that the Infinite Flow HT uses the wrong animation because it's there, it just doesn't match the tub. What's wrong with the casino HT? And I doubt the torches are supposed to light up since other lights are present.

The casino hot tub is also using the wrong animation. If you look closely, you will barely be able to see some water "flowing" at the base of the wall. There is a slit for the for water, however, between the King and Queen.

I apologize for the late reply. So there is nothing do be done, then? The objects are unfixable?

I've been avoiding patching Medieval past 1.3 for the longest time. Have my efforts been in vain? Do you mean to say that this particular type of Securom is the same version that Medieval has when patched to 2.0? And if so, how is this Securom different than the stuff that came out during TS2? Does it still phone home?
41  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Updates and Pets question on: 2012 February 04, 05:22:56
Some people are refusing to go to 1.29  or beyond due to securom.

This is the first I've heard of SecuROM having any involvement with 1.29. When did this come to be?
42  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ice Cream Truck- No Ice Cream on: 2012 January 30, 15:06:09
I had this problem. I spent quite a few hours weeding out my mods folder, and I ended up with some very odd results (to see weird testing details, please visit page 8 of Anach's Sims 3 Mods thread). The lack of ice cream (for my game) ended up being due to Anach's Ambrosia Group Serve mod. According to Anach, though, there are no conflicts, so I just chalk it up to a cosmic mystery.
43  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2012 January 28, 08:57:12
OK. Figured it out, I think. This file contains the old SB and FOY fix, which is really just the objects as packages with a merged BUFF file. But, I've added my BUFF file and my spoon and needle to it as well. This Should work. All you need is this file and the objects installed. Fingers crossed.

So, just to clarify:  With the current fix, we need to have the Magic objects installed, but not the spellbook or fountain?

No. The new fix does not include the FOY or the SB. Install those files (and the Magic set) as you normally would, then add the fix.

45  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2012 January 28, 06:28:58
Here's what I've done:
Downloaded your fix...

1st Test:

Tested with Decrapped Sims3pack Magic Set and Simon's Fixed package file combo for the Fountain of Youth and Spellbook.
Result: No Voodoo Moodlets, Spellbook calls it quits four seconds into "practicing" (the Makin' Magic Moodlet is still visible when this occurs, though) and it also has begun to spout out advice on how to use it (this never happened before), the Fountain still trickles, the Fortune-telling Orb is unremarkable, and the Caldron has no spoon.

2nd Test:

Tested with Decrapped Sims3pack Magic Set  and removed Simon's combo package.
Result: Voodoo Doll gives Moodlets, The Fortune-telling Orb gave one of my test sims an "Unlucky" Moodlet, and the Caldron still has no spoon.

3rd Test:

I then managed to recover some of my older single files of the Fountain of Youth (package file) and the Spellbook (Sims3pack file). I tested with those, and the results were: Voodoo Doll gives Moodlets, The Fortune-telling Orb gave a Moodlet, the Fountain works (but as none of my test sims have aged yet, I really cannot say for certain) the Caldron still has no spoon, and now my Spellbook has no moons or otherwise funky effects.

For the record, my files are all Decrapped, my game is fully patched, and I do have AwesomeMod.
46  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Anach's Sims 3 Mods - Updated 8th December 2011 on: 2011 December 20, 03:42:32
That is really strange. I removed all my mods and went through the process restarting with certain files and gradually worked my way to where I am now: No Ambrosia = Working Ice Cream Truck.
I wonder if it's a double conflict, then? When I was at the very end of my testing I had kept AmbrosiaGroupServe in and had ice cream selection available, but then I came to the last mod I had to test (CameraHeightMin) (which I was devastated about, because I couldn't fathom how in the world that would affect the truck) , but when I removed it, the ice cream selection was still blank. So I took out Ambrosia once more, and lo, I had ice cream again.

I hope this makes sense. My mind is all over the place. Main Point: This situation is strange because, on one hand, Ambrosia will not interfere with the ice cream truck, but then, if I have all my other mods in (the ones declared innocent by testing), Ambrosia will interfere with the ice cream truck, yet if I remove Ambrosia, the conflict will terminate and the ice cream truck will no longer be empty.
47  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Anach's Sims 3 Mods - Updated 8th December 2011 on: 2011 December 20, 03:06:01
After extensive testing, I have concluded that AmbrosiaGroupServe wipes out the ice cream truck's inventory of frozen goods. For the record, I am still working with patch 1.26.
48  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2011 December 16, 13:35:14
You are on some serious drugs, then, because there is NOTHING like that on the page, only some splash screen.

EA has assumed that everyone has a Facebook account. That's why you and I see nothing but a splash screen.
49  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: EAxian Spyware And YOU! on: 2011 December 03, 00:06:56
This pre-buy warning ("Includes software that collects data online necessary to provide and activate In-Game Advertising for all The Sims 3 products previously or hereafter installed") has been on TS3's boxes since Ambitions was released, but it's starting to take on a whole new reality. Say hello to in-game advertisements, coming your way early 2012!

It sounds like the one EP I won't be buying. Except...does it really matter if I abstain? They usually find a way to incorporate crap like this in the patches—whether we like it or not.
