101  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Castaway Stories Tombstone Glitch, Assistance Needed & Appreciated. on: 2008 May 09, 04:43:15
I know that you're right; it was an unexpected gift though, with no receipt, so I thought that I'd go ahead and install. Strangely enough, I kind of enjoy not being able to cheat. Maybe Castaway's sole purpose is for BoolProp recovery?

Reading this inspired me to finally clean out my downloads folder. My "Real Game" loads up in two minutes now. It used to be twenty.
Well, at least one thing is fixed. Thanks for the replies! Smiley
102  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Castaway Stories Tombstone Glitch, Assistance Needed & Appreciated. on: 2008 May 07, 20:56:51
I apologize for my abruptness; it's not very often that I snap. When I'm low on reading material, I tend to be on a short leash. Since I stopped at the book store today, my self-control has been pretty much restored. Once again, I am sorry. I am very grateful for the replies, though. I regret that I acted so brusque.
So, thank you all for putting up with me, and helping me at the same time. And thanks for the link!

103  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Castaway Stories Tombstone Glitch, Assistance Needed & Appreciated. on: 2008 May 06, 23:10:19
As far as I am concerned, EAxis made The Sims Stories Site very cheap. That place is a mad house. There are so many people that have glitches, and there's no patch in the making? Wonderful. Just dandy.

I seriously debated about plopping my question on TS2.com, but to hell with that. I'll just get directed to the deplorable and revolting, Sims Stories site. I'd rather clean a thousand litter boxes. (Which is something coming from a gal with eight cats.) At least here, I know that I have a high chance of receiving an answer that consists of intelligence.

My question does have to do with a glitch on Castaways. Here I go. Please note that I apologize if I have placed this in the wrong forum.

My first Castaway Sim is ready to die by Old Age. She's in Platinum Aspiration, and ready meet the Grim. So much for that. I am so glad that I saved my game before she died! The first time, I had her die in the house. Guess what appeared? The regular platinum Urn from TS2, complete with her aspiration moniker. Well, this wasn't going to go with the rest of her numerous husbands' Castaway Urns/Stones. (She was a black widow Castaway Sim.)Anywho, I went to Neighborhood, and then I came back. But this time, I positioned her outside to die. She died, but this time there was no tomb marker or anything! Curses on this glitch, or lack of EAxis attention. Probably both.  Roll Eyes

Was it a mistake to let her die in platinum mode? Any suggestions? Does anyone know of any Castaway fixes for this glitch?  Huh

Thank you in advance, I'll check back later.
~YoungOldPrude~

Update: I let her die inside and outside in Gold Aspiration, and she received the proper Castaway urn/stone each time. EAxis must think that it's hard to get an Elder into Platinum mode... Undecided

If any one feels up to the hard task of replying, would you be kind enough to let me know if you are aware of a fix? Or is the modding community taking a page of EAxis's book? I mean to say...This has been read 43 times and no one bothers to reply? Oy. This is nearly as bad as the BBS.  Shocked I never thought that I'd say that. Kind of creepy if you think about it.

Thanks for reading...

Okay, big thanks to witch, notovny, and Orikes for replying!
I deeply appreciate your help, and I am happy to say I have what I need, and that my writer's block will be going away for sure. Swingin'!
I've got my thinking music!  Grin Cheesy Roll Eyes

Thread is ready to be deleted; my dilemma has been terminated,

Big Thanks again!

Which songs?

From Nighlife:
Muenwana
Comansnala
Ishneticht
Lemon Jelly- Sims2 Theme
Hyper - Sim Time Sim Place
Hyper- Sim the Builder
Junkie -Sims UNI Theme
Adam Freeland - Makeover
Timo Mass- Sims2 Theme

From Bon Voyage:
Neo Swing
Old New York
Midnight Serenade
Ojos de Brujo - Sultanas de Merkaillo
Jef Scott - Funky Nawari
Cheb i Salbah - Tum Bin Shyam
Guitar Fiction

From Pets:
The Sims Are All Right

From University:
Funny Bone

From Glamour Life:
Hot Chip - Colours
Cut Copy - Future

Base Game:
Hero
Dance Down
Makeover

These are the only songs that I like from EAxis, except the TS1 music...The Makin' Magic music is beautiful…I should know, I've all ready created a CD dedicated to it.
Hell's bells! If I have to pay $19.99 - $39.99 for a game, then I should be allowed to enjoy the music whenever I please. Cool

Anywho, thank you for replying !  I'm getting a lot of good advice...

Edit: I can never get SimPE to work. It loads, but when I open a folder of any kind, nothing ever appears! I've got no side options what so ever. I've got the latest version, and this always happens.

And this is going to sound kind of wacky, but you have to remember that I have no idea what I am doing, How do I rename the extension?  Huh

Step-by-step instructions are welcome.

Thanks again...

Thank you, I shall try that!  Smiley

Edit: Not having much luck at the moment. Either the site is in maintenance mode, or AOL is being a pain. Probably AOL.
I shall return.

Edit Again. AOL! Slows everything down. Fixed it! Off to search....
107  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Terribly Naive File Surfer (No Longer) In Need Of Help on: 2008 April 19, 22:58:05
Hopefully I am putting this on the right forum, if not, my apologies.

As the BBS junkies look so disproving upon removing or copying game content, I decided I'd ask here.
My dilemma is this: I am trying to extract some music from all of my TS2 games, to copy another folder, so I can listen to it and be on some other program besides TS2. (For my own personal use.)
Now, I am as foolish and new as they come to extracting and copying music. Just two months ago, I finally figured out how to open my Sims1 music folder. Shocked Roll Eyes
I was hoping that things could be just as…easy with TS2.
Apparently not.
Yesterday, I have no idea how, but I somehow managed to copy the Housemix music onto the disk. I really didn't think it would work.
The problem is, the whole Housemix thing is mixed into one big track, I was hoping that the music tracks would separate and that I could choose which one I wanted to listen to, but no luck.  (Again, I have NO idea what I am doing. Maybe I'll end up blowing up my computer.) So, its one huge track and I don't really like the order that the music is in. Here is my wacky, bright idea of obliviously foolish hope: "I have Free Time! I can simply create my own custom radio station, and pick the songs and the order they play in. Then I can get off the game and check out my music folder! Then I can copy it to another folder, and then I can listen to it when I'm off the Sims2!''

Well done, YoungOldPrude! You are just fantastically naive when it comes to computers, aren't you? And you're supposed to be a millennial! Ha, ha, ha.
I don't even know how to work an ipod.  Undecided

Anywho, nothing exists, (to my knowledge) of my custom radio station, except a CustomStation XML document, which leads me to the internet, for some wacky reason.

So, how do I find the music that should be in the folder? (Oh, pardon me. There is no folder, just an XML document.) What the heck is an XML document? I should have been born in 1912; I would have fit in better.

If someone would be willing to spare some of their valuable time to help a fruit-loop like me, it would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance! I'll pop back later.
108  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: "animation is empty string" errors on: 2008 March 10, 20:58:32
Did that hack officially kill this animation error (with science and culinary)? I realized a bit after updating my hacks (perhaps a couple of days ago) that I could play in debug again in the 16-room dorm without wanting to kill myself due to all the errors. I just wanted to kill myself due to the incessant whistling.

Yes, it killed all the idle gestures, for all hobbies, along with the error pop-ups. But the whistling? As to that I'll have to try again. I have four sister Sims who have high music enthusiasm, and I have left them in idle mode for hours on end and I have never heard them whistle since I installed the hack in question. So, I am pretty sure that it murders the whistling, but I shall check again.
109  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: "animation is empty string" errors on: 2008 March 10, 06:48:55
I don't know if this is considered a non-awesome website, but I installed the: Stop All Hobby Related Idle Gestures
It fixed my animation is empty string errors! My errors would only pop up for idle female Sims. Some of the hobby gestures worked, but others, like Rub Tummy...caused an error.

Link: http://www.simwardrobe.com/

Has anyone been able to max the Sports hobby though? I get an error every time my Sims are close.
110  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 February 29, 01:06:55
I keep getting empty animation string errors. They are driving me CRAZY! I clicked on the Gypsy Match Maker, and an error popped up. Even when I just move my curser over something, it spawns an error, (every few moments) then I click on a regular townie, and all I get are errors! Socializing is something I rarely do, other then typing on the computer, but when my Sims socialize, I expect them to be able to talk without having to be reset! I REFUSE to turn boolprop off! There has to be some other option....Here is the error log, I am sorry that it is so long, but I don't know how to make it into a neat download.
Thanks for putting up with my fruit-loop-ish-ness.  Undecided

EDIT: I have no idea what I did, but I fixed the Social problem. I am still getting empty sting animations though. It is strange; it's only picking on one Sim, a female named Russet, the one who is mentioned in the error log above this. Whenever she is idle, an error pops up and I am forced to reset her.

On another issue that I am SURE is a Glitch, The "Zone'' thing, and the "I am at the top of this hobby!'' or whatever the heck it is, memory, is Not Working for the Sports hobby. I get an error every time my Sim is near maxing it, on any sports object.

What is the difference between the normal and sexy feet mesh?

Sexy feet are more realistic !

Oh...I never would have guessed that from reading the file name. You just had to use that word, didn't you?  Undecided
No, you couldn't use: realistic, practical, down-to-earth, reasonable, rational, or pragmatic. You just had to use that word.  Tongue Roll Eyes

I'd like to report a problem with the updated cs_corefuncs for the cs_shamanstation.
The problem is this: Whenever an Adult, or Elder Sim is in desperation for a certain Need, a lovely Error message comes up, and totally kicks the Sim out of their desperation faze…Until they start waving their arms in the air again. Basically, they can't complain without an Error Message coming up. How am I supposed to starve my beloved Sims, if whenever they complain, they are ripped out of their plight because of an Error Message?

Just to be certain that it was the cs_corefuncs, I removed all my other CC, and I experimented with one of the EAxis-made Sims in Strangetown.
If you need more of the Error Log, please let me know. I cut it off at Global Simulator Variables. Here is part of the Error Log:

It's a pity that the Sims cannot brew poison. I suppose that option was simply too gruesome for EAxis's nausea-prone stomach.
Still, I love the animations.
114  Awesomeware / Playsets & Toys / Re: Salvaged Stories Crap on: 2008 February 05, 06:54:29
I have two questions:  Shocked

1. Was there a special rustic shower or something that builds hygiene that came with Castaway? Or did EAxis just create a rustic toilet?

2. Were there any rustic cradles for toddlers? And just how do the Sims feed the toddlers? I can't see how a modern refrigerator on a desolate island, stocked with bottles, is going to fit in with the Castaway theme... Huh Tongue Roll Eyes

I asked more then two questions...my apologies.  Undecided
