1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: a bank loan mod? on: 2006 July 31, 19:47:16

There is no conflict between the computer and the ATM...they are meant to work together. The reason I have the ATM is because I can have it at a corner store and it only costs my sims a taxi ride to go get the loan. They won't ever be able to afford the computer until they get a loan. It makes sense to me...but maybe not to others.

That does make a lot of sense, Misty.  I'm gonna go back and download that ATM machine.  I like when my Sims are able to do 'realistic' things in the game.  Sending them to an ATM would be the answer!  Wonder why I couldn't figure that out for myself?!!LOL!

I'm having the same dilemma, and I'm playing without cheats, too.

Most of my families are poor, but this one particular family is living in super tiny house.  They have one child and just gave birth to twins!  They can't even afford to buy Monique's computer...let alone building onto the house or buying a new one!   Cheesy
They hardly have any points to spare for money trees!  I'm gonna have to really hustle when I play their house again.  I want them to get a loan to buy a new house.  I noticed in other houses I've played before, that if a Sim already has money deposited in an account, the option for a loan will not show up for them.  I didn't check to see if it was open to other Sims in the house, without an account.

I recently deleted Monique's ATM.  First because, I never used it...and secondly because my Hack Conflict Detector said there was a possible conflict with Monique's computer.   Huh

Ok, thanks for the info, both of you.  I'll go get that right now.

I noticed this also.  My Sim was on a date, and I had calculated the cost of their meal because he wasn't carrying a whole lot.  Turns out, he just barely had enough money.  I can't remember what they ordered, but for a minute there, I thought he was going to have to make a run for it.

I've also had a problem with sitting at a certain table in the Crypt O' Night club...my Sims never get served.  The server takes their order, but never returns with food.

I hadn't seen this in Veronaville before and I've played a lot but,Isabella just bought a restaurant and whenever they would show the menu to someone the thought bubbles would be squiggles.  I don't have any custom foods on the menu--didn't want to take a chance.  Don't know why--it's not a memory.

Same thing happening with me.  I've never seen the squiggly lines before...only in my new OFB restaurant.  Everytime a customer starts browsing the menu...the squigglies appear for a moment, then their favorite food appears in a thought bubble.

I wasn't sure if this was happening because I forgot to plan the menu or not.  I thought I did plan it.  I tried to be careful about putting custom foods on there, but I may have...don't know.

Any suggestions on what I should do about this?

Hehe this reminds me that The University of Tennessee at Knoxville sent me a laundry bag as an acceptance gift.

They're still doing that?  LOL!  That's where I went to school!  I stayed in Massey Hall.  ahhh, the olden days.

I love the idea you present Allen!  I've actually wanted this in the game for awhile now.  I would also love to have a laundry-mat that my Sim could own...any Sim who couldn't afford their own washer dryers, or who didn't have space for them, could go and do their laundry there.

their UI gets so big it blocks up the entire screen. (Well, not quite, but I don't know why they had to expand it upward to accomadate the extra wants, not just move the bar to the right)

You can hit F10 and the UI disappears and you can still use your mouse to click on objects/Sims for interactions as if the UI was still on screen.  You can just hit F10 again to bring it back and check their Needs panel and other stuff.

I'm not thrilled with a pets expansion either, but I desperately want a farming ep.  I miss the whole gardening/harvest aspect.  And mixing that with OFB would be terrific.

I seriously think that a lot of the people begging for pets now will be so darn frustrated with it once they get 'em, they'll be clogging up the boards with all kinds of complaints.

There's so much to focus on already in the game, I can't see having to control pets too.  Part of me hopes Maxis can change my mind on this.

Create a "misc" folder and dump all those files that comes with lots inside...after that, forget that folder is there, pretend it doesn't exist. Go into game and enjoy the lots

I did this very thing...so, amidst my very well organized downloads folder is a "clutter folder" that I never even think about.  It's got all that stuff in it that came with my downloaded lots.  All I try to do is run it thru clean installer and delete the duplicates.

I noticed this problem too since installing OFB, so I moved the mailbox a little closer to the house, and used move_objects on to place Windkeeper's mailbox cover onto it, and my Pay Bills At Box works with no problems.

Thanks for responding BlueSoup.  I tried what you said and there's no option to "Uninstall From Family".  There's only 2 options showing..."Day 1" and "List".

I clicked on "Day 1" and under that is the "Set..." options.  I clicked on "List" and it just shows all the other families I have on there.  Huh

17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Regarding the Lot Sync Timer... on: 2006 March 22, 05:00:06
I absolutely love this and it keeps me on track!  I was just wondering if there was a way to delete a family from the list.  When OFB first came out, I was playing Florence Delarosa, and added a sync timer to her lot.  Since then, I've preferred to just play my own created characters.

I deleted the timer from her lot..but her name still shows up on the list...and it's a tad bit bothersome to see her at Day 1, when everybody else is at Day 9...just wondering if there's a way to take her name off?

Thanks,

Pioupiou!!  Mmmwhaaa!!  Thank you soooo much!  I think I can try this now.  I've got my 'hood backed up...I'm ready!

Edited to say:  I successfully entered the custom eye color and clicked "Commit" and "Save"...when I went back into my game, she still had the Maxis brown eyecolor.  I took her to the mirror to change appearance, and that didn't do anything.

I see that I probably needed to change the Age Data, too.  How do I go about doing that?

Edited again:  NEVERMIND...Pioupiou, I found your explanation on how to change the eyecolor number in AgeData under her Character File in another thread.  I REALLY think this is it!  Boy, have I learned a lot of new information today!!  Thank you all!!  --green

It is now, but I haven't used it yet.

I went over to the page to download the free trial version of SimEnhancer 2 and found that they're still working on the update...
Does anyone know if I can make this kind of a change using the free trial version?

21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Help With Changing Genetics on: 2006 March 14, 04:20:29
I need some help badly on changing my Sim's genetics.  I noticed that her eye color is Maxis Brown, when they are supposed to be Helaene's dark hazel (from her October eyes collection). Currently, my Sim is pregnant with her first child.  She's got one more day before she gives birth...and I wanted to fix her eyes before the baby is born.

I have read/skimmed through dozens of threads, and my eyes are glazing over and my head hurts.  It's possible that the information is there, but I just don't understand it well enough to see it right in front of my face.

Can someone please take me step by step in changing her eye color from the Maxis color to the custom color with the updated version 0.56 of SimPe for OFB?  I don't have SimEnhancer 2.

I would be so grateful for your help.  --green

22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New sync-timer (OFB)... must we "remove" the previous one? on: 2006 March 03, 10:40:11
I was on day 6 with most of my families, and some were still on day 3 before I installed OFB.  I left the sync timers where they were, at each house, (in the backyard).

I backed up my Sims 2 folder, just in case.  And I "cut and pasted" my Downloads folder onto my desktop and installed OFB on top of my existing game/neighborhood.  I let it load up, and actually played Pleasantview's Bluewater Village for a minute (Delarosa's Flower Shop), then quit out of it without saving.

I then placed my downloads back in...leaving out the hacks.  I loaded my game and enabled CC then exited.  I then came here and made sure to only put back in the hacks that were OFB ready (I re-downloaded most of the OFB ready stuff on Pescado's list, including the sync timer and let it overwrite the one that existed in my Hack Folder.)

I loaded the game up and this time I went into my created neighborhood, Simmington Hills, and to the house that was next in my rotation...the sync timer was still in place, at Day 3...I played the 3 days and it said Day 6 and all the listings for each family were intact.  I didn't have to do a thing to it.

23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's your first impression of OFB? on: 2006 March 03, 00:47:18
I said "dream come true" also.  I really like this new aspect of the game, although I haven't figured everything out yet.

Lion asked about the Townies and having to replenish their funds....they have a limitless amount of funds so there's no need to be concerned about their spending.

Playable Sims, from what I've read, will only spend according to what money they have and they keep only 3 items they purchase...with the oldest purchase dropping out of their inventory, if they continue spending autonomously.
